[misc] Seasonal reminder to keep an eye on your skin!

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Month ago my cheeks became heavily irritated with the change of the weather and with the coming of the colder months. Constant redness and dryness. I’ve spent about 80£ on new skincare products trying to figure out what was wrong and what active ingredient was causing this/ what ingredients might fix this. Turned out it was my supposedly HG cleanser that I used during the summer becoming too stripping and irritating for this time of the year. Switched to gentler alternative and my skin is thriving once again :). Sometimes the solution lies right under your nose lol

[Skin Concerns] Severely damaged skin due to sunburn

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Basically, my skin barrier is completely damaged due to severe sunburn (was out in the sun for 8 hours with no sunscreen I know stupid) and my dermatologist gave me creams but it hasn’t improved except for a little less redness. Is there any product that can restore my skin barrier without making my skin worse? (I have very sensitive skin and I’m pale)

[Product Question] Ingredient experts - I need your help!

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I've been using Aveeno ultra calming night cream because it's one of the very simple oil free ( & no squalane) and fragrance free moisturizers that I have found that adds moisture. However, it seems to sting upon application and I can't figure out why. Below is the ingredient list - any ideas why? or is my skin barrier damaged and any moisturizer going to sting?Additionally, if you know an oil free, fragrance free moisturizer with no niacinimide and squalane - let me know! :)Aveeno Ultra Calming Night Cream:Water, Glycerin, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Dimethicone, Arachidyl Alcohol, Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Flour, Cetyl Alcohol, Phenyl Trimethicone, Cetearyl Glucoside, Behenyl Alcohol, Sodium Polyacrylate, Caprylyl Glycol, Ethylene/Acrylic Acid Copolymer, Panthenol, Phenoxyethanol, Polyacrylamide, Arachidyl Glucoside, C13-14 Isoparaffin, Chlorphenesin, Chrysanthemum Parthenium (Feverfew) Flower/Leaf/Stem Juice, Disodium EDTA, Pentaerythrityl Tetra-di-t-butyl Hydroxyhydrocinnamate, Laureth-7, Pentylene Glycol, Ceramide NP

[Sun Care] Recommendations for mineral sunscreen that doesn't leave white cast?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I have pretty fair skin, but my mineral sunscreen leaves a very white cast even in comparison to my already pale skin. I found the perfect match for my skin tone this past year and I don't wanna deal with finding a perfect match for a tinted moisturizer with SPF. I can't use the chemical sunscreen since it causes me to breakout. Does anyone have any recommendations for a mineral sunscreen that doesn't leave a white cast? Maybe a tinted one that isn't tinted enough to throw off the color of my skin tone, if that makes sense?

[misc] What is your favourite, best ever, love it to death cleanser?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I absolutely love YTTP's cleanser and it honestly it changed my dislike for cleansers as a whole. But it's been sold out in all sizes on Sephora for a while now and I'm almost out of mine. They don't appear to ship to Canada & instead ask that those outside of the US check with Sephora. :/Now I'm looking to find something else to use until I can get YTTP again and would love some recommendations/favourites y'all have. I went through older HG threads on this as well (love those!) and have now come here for more updated suggestions/opinions. :)Background: I'm 34F, skin is mostly combination. My T-zone is oily in the summer, but my face pulls more to normal/dry in the winter. I have a little bit of red/texture and larger pores on my T-zone as well. No pimples usually, but there's the occasional big chungus one that'll pop up maybe once a month, if that. Current routine is as follows:AM: Rinse with water, TO Buffet, Saturday Skin Waterfall Glacial Water Cream if I'm staying in otherwise tinted moisturizer or primer with my makeup, SPF.PM Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday: Farmacy Green Clean Makeup Meltaway Cleansing Balm if makeup was used, followed by Youth To The People Kale Superfood Cleanser, The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution, Drunk Elephant Protini Polypeptide Moisturizer, The Ordinary Rosehip Seed Oil, The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG.PM Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday: Farmacy Green Clean Makeup Meltaway Cleansing Balm if makeup was used, followed by Youth To The People Kale Superfood Cleanser, Farmacy Honeymoon Glow, Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Hydrating Mask with Avocado & Swiss Glacier Water OR Drunk Elephant F-Balm Electrolyte Waterfacial Mask, The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG.

I have sensitive and oily skin living in a very humid country in Asia. Female and in my late 20s. Had the privilege of travelling to the US a couple of times for work over the past few years and I've been hitting up Sephora every chance I get (fellow SE Asians will understand lol).Like many of you, I have been lured into the buying the minis and have given in to the sales pitch of their sales staff. So, I thought I'd share some of the hyped products I've tried (not all are from Sephora) and give my experience for these products.belif True Cream Aqua BombI first purchased the mini version which came with the Hungarian Water Essence 2 years ago and I loved it then. I thought it was my HG at the time and ended up repurchasing the giant tub. I loved the cooling feeling which is a huge plus for me since I live in a perpetual "Summer" season country. After using it consistently for weeks, I realized it was kind of drying up my skin. I would still get very oily, which means my skin wasn't able to get the right amount of moisture, hence my oil glands leaking like there's no tomorrow. After looking up the ingredients, I realized in contained Denatured Alcohol pretty high up on the list. While this isn't a big deal for people with oily skin, I guess it just didn't work out for me.belif Hungarian Water Essence (not pictured)Damn I loved this one. Probably one of the best hydrating serum/essences I've tried. I haven't repurchased this one since I have tons of hyaluronic acid products on my shelf but this is some next level super water shit. It's lightweight but packs on the moisture and it feels like a splash of spa water. It's on the pricey side but it works pretty good for people with oily combo skin. Not too heavy and no scent at all.Youth To The People Superfood CleanserOne of the BEST cleansers ever. Periodt. This tiny bottle saved me on long haul flights (which I kind of miss now). I felt like it was my small piece of luxury back in economy class. Cleanses nicely and not stripping at all. I love the fresh salad smell too. It's a clean beauty product that is a bit on the pricey side but totally worth it. Ended up getting the big version in the local black market where resellers jack up the prices. Again, still worth it.Herbivore Botanicals Bakuchiol SerumI had my qualms with starting Retinol so I thought I'd ease in with Bakuchiol. Heard good things about this product so I gave it a try. Let me tell you, I did not see any difference. I mean, I didn't hate it and used it for the sake of trying to preserving youthful skin but I didn't see any results (also it's $54 so bitch imma use it until the last drop) Maybe it's just a fluke for me, but I did love the hydration it brought on my skin. I can't say it's not worth it, I have read several good reviews so maybe it just did not jive with my skin.Nuxe Huile ProdigeuseI don't see this product enough on Reddit so I thought I'd share a short review. I've used this for the past few months and it has been such a delight. I'm obsessed with it. Nuxe Huile Prodigeuse is a dry oil so it's not greasy at all and a little goes a long way. It works well on the face, body, and hair and it smells DIVINE. It's a subtle sexy scent that I cannot get enough of. For a dry oil, it is very hydrating. I love using this after showering, it feels like such a luxury to lather on my damp skin. I have tried other dry oils and nothing compares to Nuxe. I'd repurchase this for sure.Banila Co. Clean It ZeroI actually have tried this before but I was able to score a mini version which was such a treat to use for travel. This is one of the best cleansing balms I've tried and it's a hardworking little guy that gets out all the grime, oil, makeup, and sweat from a long day. Personally prefer oil cleansers over balms but this is one of the best out there that I have tried.Any good products you guys have tried? Looking for a good eye cream, if anyone has any suggestions!

[misc] How you know Dr. Dray is full of sh*t!

Beauty Tips For Body Care
This may be an unpopular opinion and I hope I don’t get downvoted but Dr. Dray is so full of shit and no one should take her word as the gospel. She is just like any other “influencer” trying to sell you stuff whether or not she actually believes in the product. Here’s just one example of how I know that:In her YouTube video titled “disappointing products not worth your money” she mentions that the inkey list alpha arbutin did absolutely nothing for her and she would not recommend it. It starts at about 13:48 in the video. Then today she posts her top fave products from the inkey list for a paid sponsorship post and the alpha arbutin is on there. So I commented and said “didn’t you say in one of your videos that their alpha arbutin isn’t very effective?” And she said “no I didn’t say that”. So just straight up gaslighting me/lying for the purposes of tricking her loyal followers into buying shit that she herself said doesn’t work. When I called out what video she said it in, she deleted my comment and blocked me.Take what you will from that but she doesn’t seem trustworthy to me and that whole exchange was kind of triggering to me. Not a fan.

[Product Question] Urea for very dehydrated and sensitive skin?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi, maybe 2 weeks back I made a post about having very dry and sensitive skin. 3 days ago I decided to do almost no "Routine therapy", I'm just using "Avene Cicalfate Skin Repair Cream" and Vaseline. Do you think adding the Urea at night is safe or should I not use it. If yes, should I use the vaseline right after or rather not? I just don't want to exfoliate my skin because it's very itchy, dehydrated AF, and just very flushed. I have this type of Urea at home: link. Thank you for any answer/advice!

[Review] Costco Exclusive 6-piece holiday skincare set by Aromatica ($5 per piece!)

Beauty Tips For Body Care
After seeing Jessica's haul on this (@ohuprettythings), I jumped to Costco and bought two- one for mom and one for myself. It's 29.99 for a 6-piece set, so it's essentially $5 per product. First off, the package is gorgeous. Each product comes with an identical glass bottle (1.01 FL OZ) with a dropper.Neroli Facial OilMy personal favorite. The scent is divine, and it's a super lightweight facial oil that sinks in quickly.I am using this every night with my rose ceramide cream from URANG (Bought this from Costco too). My skin is supple and smooth all day long. Rate: 5/5Rosehip Facial OilThis one has a gorgeous orange hue, and it's so darn pretty to look at haha. - Other than this, this one's texture is a little thicker than Neroli. I would recommend using this at night. Rosehip is known for its rich essential fatty acids (anti-aging, firming properties) Rate: 3/5Tea Tree Facial OilI wasn't a fan of Tea Tree Facial Oil. I used one from BODYSHOP ages ago and it irritated the living pore out of me - but this one - I liked. It's the ultra-super-duper-light weight texture I like. Great for mixing with my serum in the morning - leaves my skin with a natural glow. Rate: 4/5Rose Infused SerumSmells like freshly picked roses,. I have not been using it long enough to rate it, as I am still working on my NEOGEN Ferment serum trial.Rose Vitamin SerumThis one has almost no scent, absorbs quickly into your skin. Uses hibiscus as its active ingredient.Rosemary Essence (Toner)I really liked this one too- light-weight, texture that instantly pampers my skin after cleansing. The only thing I disliked is the portion for this one. I am on week 1 and I am already down to 2/3 of it.Everything else I use 2-3 drops at a time, but I love me bathing in the toner. haha. - so.. Rate: 4/5The other pointers:- This set is a select assortment of different skincare products that resonate with different skin needs for different occasions (morning, evening, essence, oil, etc.)- The instructions given inside the set are extremely thoughtful, precise, and easy to understand- This brand really values organic and natural ingredients used in their skincare. All vegan formula.- Great for sensitive skin, and troubled prone skin.https://preview.redd.it/albxiwkot4w51.jpg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2530e8ab6f09fa730e9aca4bf6afceea11f26378

PSA: Persistently dry lips? You might be allergic to almost every single lip balm (like me) [Skin Concerns]

Beauty Tips For Body Care
As long as I can remember, I’ve always had dry lips. I constantly apply whatever chapstick or lip balm I have to stave off the dryness, especially come winter. After recently religiously applying aquaphor’s lip balm for about a week, I developed a reddish ring of irritation above my top lip. My lips were soon itchy and irritated. This has happened to me in the past - after using a new lip balm last year, my lips slowly became irritated and literally all the skin peeled off. Gross. After trying all varieties of lip balms over the years, including Aquaphor, Burts Bees, Nivea, etc, I have come to realize that I am allergic to nearly every single lip balm. I had absolutely no idea. My lips would often be a little red and feel chapped at all times, but nothing more serious than this. I was especially shocked that Aquaphor’s lip balm irritated me, but it did.For the last two weeks I’ve exclusively been using the original Vaseline and the mini Vaseline tub meant for lips. My lips have NEVER been softer. Ever. If you’re having persistent lip dryness like me, you might be experiencing a sensitivity!Edit: the Vaseline lip stuff that comes in a soft tube (called lip therapy advanced healing) also irritated me! The only one that didn’t irritate me was the mini tub with the blue cover.

[PSA] Give yourself the gift of a proper Instagram community.

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I confess I'm tipsy. And whether this post is worthwhile is likely a question worth some debate. Nevertheless, I feel compelled to share what I think is an invaluable resource.Let me preface this by saying that, for me, Instagram epitomizes the worst of social media. The focus on vanity and the obfuscation of imperfections is toxic--full stop. No one has ever been served well by the inundation of images that implicitly assert the attainability of physical perfection. Instagram is the breeding ground for photoshopped images of everything ranging from meals to skin. That said, because of the platform's popularity, many remarkable content creators have taken to it in an effort to capitalize on the accessibility and appeal of the forum for the sake of communicating valuable information and perspectives. #scicomm was a novel concept to me. "Science communication" was something I'd never thought about. But, in fact, there are tons of people who dedicate their Instagram presence to the dissemination and promulgation of factual information on ranges of subjects. Most relevant to this community? The host of cosmetic chemists, estheticians, and dermatologists generous enough to bless us with their knowledge in a format that is accessible and readily integrated into our daily media consumption.I highly recommend investigating some of the accounts that I'll list below. The content they offer is both entertaining and informative. They challenge their followers to challenge the noise they're often bombarded with through appeal to science and available data.If you're interested in skincare, I highly recommend you consider looking at the following accounts:drsambuntingdr.somaskinpiamoominranellamddermangelocharlotteparlerdr.ginzadermatology_demystifiedskinperspectivetheecowellandymillward_the_skintellectualsdrpatalayveronicagorgeoisshereeneidrissdremmawedgeworthlabmuffinbeautysciencenadinebaggotcarolinehironsConnecting with these accounts will allow the algorithms to suggest other valuable accounts, not all of which I've mentioned. I've created a separate Instagram account for the sake of consuming this media because I love it all but I want to be able to fully detach from the vapid nonsense that seems to characterize "personal" Instagram.I hope this was helpful and that it in some way opens the eyes of some to a world on Instagram that, in my opinion, is invaluable in an age of misinformation.Best

[Review]: Krave Beauty Kale-Lalu-yAHA

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Krave Beauty Kale-Lalu-yAHA Exfoliation can be such a fickle, fickle skincare step. Understanding what type of exfoliating ingredients your skin might need, at what percentage, and how often can be an exhausting process.Even after playing with different products for a couple of years...I still find myself accidentally over-exfoliating. That ended up being the case with the Krave Beauty Kale-Lalu-yAHA. FIrst things first, this exfoliating fluid is a lovely thin and watery texture which makes it easy to apply/swipe on using a cotton pad. While a watery acid based toner isn’t that hard to come by...it’s the Kale-Lalu-yAHA’s lack of stickiness or residue that impressed me.From there...5.25% glycolic acid goes to work in removing dead skin cells, reducing dark spots, and all of the other wonderful benefits that AHA products provide. Krave takes it a bit further by including aloe for hydration/soothing, plus a farmers market worth of antioxidant rich greens. My first application of this product did include a slight tingling, but it faded rather quickly. The next morning I was stunned to see skin that was noticeably brighter and refined...Kale-Lalu-yAHA works quickly! All of this without irritation...so I made the mistake so many of us make by adding it to my routine every other day. This turned out to be way too much for my skin and after that first week or so my skin was feeling raw, looking red, and generally pissed. Luckily I had some great soothing products to turn to and was able to regain control fairly quickly (Beauty of Joseon Calming Serum and Centella Sheet Masks).Even though this amazing AHA product is fairly gentle and packed with skin supporting ingredients...it is still potent enough to approach with a bit of caution and ease. Once a week or even once every other week might be just fine for some, while others will want to bump the frequency up as they go.For me, I’ll be sticking to twice a week with a couple/few days off in between. The last few weeks with this toner have been amazing now that I have a rhythm down and it really has become one of my favorite AHA toners/fluids.I don’t know why I assumed Krave/Liah Yoo would release an exfoliation product that might be less powerful than some others I have used/geared towards ultra-sensitive skin...but it seems they aren't playing around lol! Full Ingredients List: Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Water, Water, Butylene Glycol, Brassica Oleracea Acephala Leaf (Kale) Extract, Glycolic Acid, 1,2-Hexanediol, Potassium Hydroxide, Glycerin, Spinacia Oleracea (Spinach) Leaf Extract, Carum Petroselinum (Parsley) Extract, Chlorella Minutissima Extract, Malus Domestica Fruit (Green Apple) Extract, Panthenol (Vitamin B5), Betaine Salicylate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Allantoin, Pseudozyma Epicola/Camellia Sinensis Seed Oil/Glucose/Yeast Extract Ferment Filtrate, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Bacillus/Folic Acid/Soybean Ferment Extract, Coptis Japonica Root Extract, Malachite Extract, Polysorbate 80, Disodium EDTWhere To Buy (Krave Beauty Site - $25.00 USD - 200ml): https://kravebeauty.com/collections/shop-all/products/kale-lalu-yaha

[product question] Does Vitamin C serum actually help or is it just trendy?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I feel like I'm always hearing about Vitamin C serum now, and I'm considering adding it to my skincare regimen. However, I have very sensitive and acne prone skin so I generally keep my skin care simple (cleanser 2 times a day, lightweight moisturizer+spf in the morning, more heavy weight moisturizer at night). I'm worried that this is another one of those "trendy" skin care products that do very little but are heavily advertised which creates a false sense of hype around it. What are people's honest opinions on vitamin C? Does it actually help? How much/with what? If so, which one would you recommend? Thanks :)

Cold sore scar that has lasted for 2 weeks [skin concern]

Beauty Tips For Body Care
A little less than a month ago, I got a very gnarly cold sore, the worst I've ever had in my life (and I've been getting them since I was a teen). It took an average amount of time for it to heal, 10 days. I accidentally knocked part of the scab off, and the rest of the scab came off the next day when I was in the shower (it was so dangly and loose after the shower that I used a napkin to take it off). No pain, but my skin didn't feel fully healed because it still felt very raw when the scab was removed (sensitive to the touch).Dead skin would grow over the area the cold sore used to be (I guess it was light scabbing?) for awhile, so I kept treating it as if the virus was still active. After awhile, though, my skin was no longer sensitive and dead skin stopped growing...however, I still had scarring.I'm seeing a new guy and I kept telling him that I don't want to kiss him until the scarring goes away. But the scarring is hard for others to see, and I didn't want it to seem like I was avoiding being intimate with him. I didn't want to reject him for the umpteenth time, so since the skin felt fully healed, I allowed for us to be intimate. Though I told him I'm still paranoid, so I wouldn't be putting my mouth on any private areas.Halfway through us having sex, the area where the scarring was felt irritated (after rough kissing). This sent me into extreme paranoia. After sex, I checked my lip in the bathroom and the area was a little red and I realized the skin was still a little more raised than the rest of my lip.Today, the morning after, it seems to have gone back to normal (no more redness or irritation), but of course the previous scarring is still there. Now I'm scared I might have passed on the virus to him via kissing (and I'm very happy I decided against putting my mouth anywhere else).I'm reading on other posts that sometimes scarring takes a few months to heal. Does this mean I should avoid kissing him and oral for a few months? It's been 2 weeks since the scab fell off, am I being too paranoid?

Switching from birth control pill to IUD? [acne]

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I recently decided to change from my current birth control (Taytulla) to a hormonal iud (Kyleena). I haven’t gotten the iud yet and now I’m starting to second guess my decision after seeing so many posts about iud’s and hormonal acne. I used to get SEVERE cystic acne and did a course of Accutane 5 years ago, so now I only get mild pimples and blackheads, but overall my skin looks great. I wanted to switch to an IUD because they’re more effective at preventing pregnancy and I wouldn’t have to take a pill every day. Additionally, the copper iud isn’t an option for me because my periods are very debilitating without some kind of hormonal birth control. I just feel lost as how to proceed. I’m so afraid that my cystic acne will come back with a vengeance if I get the iud. Any advice??

[Misc] I made a mild complaint to a dermatologist's office...should I take the refund?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
So a few days ago I went for an aesthetics appointment with a dermatologist. My appointment was for half an hour, but I was in and out in about 10 minutes.During the appointment the dermatologist gave me a sheet with information on it and quickly ran through it. About 10 minutes into the appointment, a woman walked into the room (without knocking) and stood by the door with it open. I thought this was my cue that the appointment was over and felt rushed to leave. The treatment he was suggesting wasn't one I was familiar with and it's only after leaving I realised that there were a few things I wasn't clear on.I phoned the clinic up later that day and asked a few of the questions that I had. The receptionist told me that "these are questions you really should have asked during the consultation" but did make an effort to ask the doctor while I was on the phone. I mentioned at this point I felt that the appointment was very rushed and that it was unprofessional that someone else walked into the room during my consultation without any explanation of who they were and why they were there. It wasn't my intention to irritate them or ask for a refund. I wasn't dissatisfied with the service, I just thought that there were a few things that could have been improved upon. I would also have liked to have discussed treatments for other areas of my body, but was not offered during my appointment even though I had enough time to do this. The next day they emailed me saying that they will offer me a refund for the appointment ($50) and cancel the treatment date I had booked as I was 'dissatisfied' with their service. I am not sure if I want to go ahead with the treatment at this venue as I'll be moving out of the area in January and travelling back and forth for their treatment plan might be difficult with coronavirus at the moment. Should I take the refund?TLDR; said some mild criticism to a dermatologists office and they offered me a refund. Not sure if I'm stupid not to take it?

[Acne] mouth acne is killing me

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I only ever breakout around my mouth and chin area, especially above my lip/under my nose. This past week or two the breakout has gotten really bad and I’m not sure if it’s stress or hormones or diet or whatever. It also always leaves really really bad scarring that takes forever to go away. Does anyone else struggle with constant breakouts in this area and have any tips on how to prevent it? I take pride in my skincare routine and always make sure to have fresh pillow cases, wash my masks, wipe my mouth after eating, etc. so I’m not sure what else I can do! Recently I’ve stopped using any products except for moisturizer around my mouth but I don’t think it’s doing anything. Any tips for getting rid of scarring is appreciated as well! Just wanted to know if anyone else has experienced something similar and can share their experience and maybe what helped you?

[personal] Been trying the "double cleanse" method, pretty happy with it!

Beauty Tips For Body Care
For many years I've tried just about everything, even differin gel, and it just felt like something was missing from my routine. Still had clogged up pores and sebum plugs no matter how I scrubbed, poked, masked, moisturized, ect. Tried oil cleansers too, but by themselves each time. Turns out what I needed was just the right combination of things. So for the last couple weeks tried the oil cleanser first, then water-based cleanser, then toner, differin, and moisturizer. Also changing out my shampoo & conditioner for less comedogenic stuff for my clogged up hairline. The double cleansing method is really making a difference! Either oil cleanser or water based cleanser by itself just wasn't cutting it, but together seems to be the extra step that works. Anyway here is my twice daily basic routine FYI; Clinique take the day off cleansing oil or DHC deep cleansing oil + light massage with the oil on, CeraVe renewing SA cleanser, Paula's Choice pore-reducing toner, differin gel (at night), and First Aid Beauty ultra repair cream. Still got a ways until my skin looks good, but I'm definitely noticing progress and my skin just feels better too. Anyways, just felt like sharing.

[Personal] Am I the only one...

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Who downvotes everyone’s shelfies? This sub shouldn’t be about hoarding products, or collecting skincare. It should be about taking care of your skin. If you are constantly buying products, or have long, complicated skincare routines, you’re not doing your skin any good. You’re just addicted to buying products.I used to be like that. I became obsessed with trying new skincare, and having a 10 step Korean skincare routine. My skin looked horrible, and my routine was making it worse. Now I stick to a simple routine, with clinical grade and Rx products. And my skin has never looked better. If I’m going to splurge I’ll go to the dermatologist or esthetician and pay for a treatment. You don’t need lots of products to have nice skin. A simple routine with cleanser, moisturizer, sunscreen, and one kind of exfoliating product is better than a lot of the routines I see posted here.Focus on results, not products. Stay beautiful everyone.

[Sun Care] Test Report of 30 Sunscreen Products

Beauty Tips For Body Care
A friend of mine shared a sunscreen test report done by the Consumer Council of Hong Kong Government and the publication date of this magazine Choice was Oct 2020 & I attached the 2 pages for your interest. The SPF test of the report was carried according to ISO 24444:2010 (in vivo) and UVAPF was tested according to the ISO 24443:2012 (in vitro).Of those 30 sunscreen products, 14 were of SPF 30 to SPF 50 and the rest 16 were SPF50+.You can see those 30 products in one photo and the SPF & UVAPF result in another (I put a blue mark on the column which indicated the tested SPF and a yellow mark is the tested UVAPF).Not surprisingly, the UVAPF of most Japanese sunscreens failed to meet their claims.https://imgur.com/seDmooLhttps://imgur.com/fPhhBUm

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I recently got the CeraVe foaming facial cleanser (after months of trying to as well) and I’ve just used it for the second time and my skin is incredibly dry and a little itchy. Has anyone gone through the same?I bought it because I do have oily skin and read so many reviews that said this cleanser was gentle and wouldn’t over strip the skin :( not sure if I should stop using it or give it a few more days. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated!

I’m at a loss.... red blotches after shower for up to two hours. [19f] [skin concerns] please share some advice!

Beauty Tips For Body Care
https://i.imgur.com/dOSGADO.jpg I’ve had sensitive skin my whole life. It got much better as I grew older. I stopped using sensitive skin care lines. Well, I started paying more attention to the fact following a shower I’d get red and blotchy on my upper chest/back. Sometimes tiny bumps would rise. I switched everything back. Sensitive skin soap, sensitive skin laundry detergent, tried different face washes, etc. I even just bought a shower filter. The only thing that might have changed with the shower filter is I notice maaybeee less bumps/splotches? The splotchiness, bumps, and redness go away within 1-2 hours and its like nothing happen. It sometimes itches. My boyfriend’s mom suggested I stop taking warm showers. With Winter approaching that sounds miserable. I definitely DON’T take hot showers, not even close. It used to happen real bad with my face (for maybe less time, 30 minutes. Not sure why it doesn’t happen as much anymore) Does anybody have any suggestions? Should I try a different shower filter? I figured I might as well keep it because I heard it can help my curly hair not get dry/frizzy and prevent buildup. The shower filter is a bwdm 15 Stage Shower Filter if that makes any difference. (Fairly cheap)

[skin concerns] Asking for advice with my daughter's skin (14)f

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I'm asking for advice on how to get rid of blackheads on my teenage daughters face. She's very bothered by her skin. She has blackheads on her nose, forehead and chin and acne on her cheeks. Her GP has prescribed something for the acne but said we need to work on her blackheads too. She already uses a cleanser and toner daily, and uses a facial scrub a few times a week. I'm a complete novice so I don't have much advice to give. Can anyone point us in the right direction. [Personal] Does anyone else ever get super depressed about how their skin looks and wonder what’s the point of even trying so hard if nothing ever works

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Like how are some people blessed enough to have flawless skin while washing their faces with bar soap, while I’m stuck having to research random chemicals for hours to slather on my face and STILL look like shit?? It’s just not fair :((I want to be able to go in the sunlight without worrying that all my hyperpigmentation is super visible, or sleep on my pillow without worrying about new pimples, or pull my hair back without worrying about covering the acne on my temples or just stop spending hours staring in the mirror and picking at my faceI’ve spent years trying to find the perfect regimen and time after time I’m disappointed by a lack of results from almost every product I use even though I try to be consistent in usage. I’m on combo pill birth control now and that’s only made it worse even though my doctor said it was supposed to improve my skin. Nothing ever fixes any of my skin concerns and I’m sick and tired of trying so hard and wasting money and time and hope for nothing

[Skin Concerns] any advice or success stories for dealing with Folliculitis on the arse ?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
The skin on my face is totally clear for the first time in ages... but my rear? Yikes. Any success stories of healing pretty aggressive folliculitis on the bum?My current ass-skincare routine is exfoliating with a Baden Mitten and washing by bum with Cera Ve hydrating cleanser in the shower. I shower every other day, and moisturize with Glaxal Base afterward. In the past, I’ve tried using a Benzol peroxide wash , with no real results, although maybe I didn’t stick with it long enough (used for about 1 month). I’m wondering if this is something I could even go on antibiotics for ?booty pic for reference . Be nice, I know it’s not pretty .https://imgur.com/a/k9XVMuo

[Misc] Consolidated List of Ceramide Products

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hello!Have been trying to understand ceramides lately, done a bit of research but as there are a lot of detailed posts on them already am going to link out so you can read up more on the details:Read about what are ceramides, the ideal ratio, SK-Influx compoundGreat summaryOther links: Benefits of each ceramide, Alternate names for ceramides, Korean ceramide compoundsNow that you've read those, I've compiled a list of Ceramide products from across the world at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1pSu9Mz7bDe_Rrb1PkwbdkRpG-hbgno-ffHwRjf03GGQ/edit?usp=sharingTo distinguish between the types of Ceramides:Ceramide 1 = Ceramide EOS. Helps skin retain water and protects it from environmental factors.Ceramide 2 = Cermamide NS = N-stearoyl sphinganine. Strong water-retention function.Ceramide 3 = Ceramide NP = N-stearoyl phytosphingosine. Helps skin retain water and fade small wrinkles.Ceramide 4 = Ceramide EOH. Fortifies skin barrier.Ceramide 5 = Ceramide AS. Helps skin retain water and fade small wrinkles, while stimulating turnover.Ceramide 6 = Ceramide AP = α-hydroxy-N-stearoylphytosphingosine. Helps skin retain water and fade small wrinkles, while stimulating turnover.Ceramide 6 II = Caproyl sphingosine. Stimulates turnover and helps fade small wrinkles.Ceramide 7 = Ceramide AH. Control of cell growth and division, and keeping the balance of skin flora.Ceramide 8 = Ceramide NHCeramide 9 = Ceramide EOPCeramide E = Cetyl-PG Hydroxyethyl Palmitamide and HexadecanamideThen there are pseudoceramides, phytoceramides - most ceramides are synthetically made in labs so new compounds get a fancy new name. Some notes:You'll notice manufacturers: SK-Influx is referenced in the first reference link it's by a company called Evonik, and as Ceramide tech originated in Korea - MLE is by the NeoPharm group in Korea, AmorePacific has their own version used across the group companies.I've linked out to the ingredient lists - please lookout for where the ceramides lie - a lot of products have ceramides towards the bottom of the list so am unsure of their efficacy. One thing that I am still trying to figure out is - is the perfect ratio better eg. you have Ceramol 311 and Ceradan (I luckily have access to both) which say they use the 3:1:1 golden ratio (cholesterol: ceramide: free fatty acid ratio) but use only one type of Ceramide (3 (NP) or Hydroxypropyl Bispalmitamide MEA) or is having more different types of ceramides better? Has anyone come across any research/experience on it? Or I might end up doing a test when I can get some of these products.Hope this helps, and if I've missed any Ceramide products do let me know and I'll add them!Note: Am currently in India and have cross-posted a local version at https://www.reddit.com/r/IndianSkincareAddicts/comments/jhtnm0/consolidated_list_of_ceramide_products/

Check out our list of ScA Helpers and our most recent thank you post!Whether it be in-depth responses that deserve to be their own guides, thoughtful product recommendations, or simply pointing someone in the right direction, we appreciate all the time and effort you've made to help others!Previous ThreadsThis thread is posted every day at 12:00am ET.
