[Skin Concern] Does anyone have skin texture like this? I’ve been suffering with this on my chest for the past year. I believe it is irritated hair follicles, folliculitis. For the texture, I’ve tried Cerave, Paula’s Choice, Benzoyl Peroxide etc. Anyone have any tips to combat this?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I have a flexible spending account as part of the benefits package i receive from work, and i need to spend some money before i lose it at the end of the year.Imagine my surprise when i realized exactly what i could use this money for...You can go to a website like fsastore.com, or search cvs or Walmart for fsa eligible items... you'll things like acne treatments, moisturizer, and sunscreen. Along with inexpensive drug store brands, Fsastore.com even has brands like la roche-posay, supergoop, and vichy.Just wanted to pass this on, since i have to spend it or lose it, so I'm sure some of you are in the same position!

[Routine Help] best Sephora (and other) skincare holy-grails for Cyber Monday?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I'm brand new here (22F) with acne-prone skin. I have a lot of texture on my forehead and chin, and have always struggled with not picking at my skin. I know, it's so bad!! But recently I've gotten more into skincare, and with Sephora's cyber Monday sale I figured I would see if anyone had suggestions for must-have products. I'd be open to other holy-grail items too (not necessarily on Sephora), but I have to get a few other things from there aaaaand it's free shipping today. Honestly I would just love any advice/suggestions anyone could give - I'm a college student so if I could save $$ on sales today that would be huge!

[sun care] The Altruist sunscreen (SPF30, SPF50, face fluid)

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi guys! What are everyone’s experiences with the Altruist sunscreens? I need a new sunscreen and I’ve seen these pop up a couple times. They’re a great price and seem good, just wondering about what everyone thinks or whether anyone has a better recommendation.I’m particularly interested in the face fluid SPF50.My skin: very pale, combo with dry (eczema) patches, spot-prone and fairly sensitive.I’m not a fan of mattifying products. I don’t mind a little shine as long as it looks more like a healthy glow and less like a greased pan lolThanks!

[Misc] Please be gentle with your skin, and think about the affect of each product you use

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Your skin is an organ, the biggest one you have. It protects you, and you should protect it. Yes, it can be very frustrating to deal with. But every time you use an active / chemical exfoliant / AHA / BHA / salicylic acid / etc you are using something that may harm OR help your skin, depending on how you use it.If you’ve slowly built up your routine, adding one product at a time, using it for a few weeks to determine the effect it’s having - then you’re 100% fineBut please don’t start a brand new routine immediately using multiple actives and strong products. Each of those should be used for a particular purpose, and do your own research (not just reading or asking here) to make sure you know what it’s doing for you. Don’t do it because it’s a fad or it’s popular right now. Everyone’s skin is different and will react differently. Yes, purging and slight burning happens, especially if your skin is dry, but the goal of skincare is not to burn your skin off.The other thing is balancing brands vs ingredients. You should definitely look for particular ingredients, and not be blindly loyal to brands. But at the same time using actives in strong concentrations from TO or wherever without diluting it properly or understanding how often to use it is just a good way to get a chemical burn. If you don’t want to figure all that out that’s perfectly fine - that’s what products that chemists have made are for. Also, I don’t really understand how a “holy grail” product can exist. Yes some products are very good, or a good price for the contents, or widely usable, but people still have different skin AND there are likely several comparable products on the market. It’s just sad to see repeat posts where someone has gotten a chemical burn, or “ruined” skin that was previously fine, and very avoidable. Also, even with IS insurance issues, going to a dermatologist once and getting a prescription that really works, or using some type of telehealth service, can actually save money and time and energy over buying tons of products that don’t work well.

[Routine Help] Treatment for belly skin after baby?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Not sure if this is the right kind of skin problem to ask about. Using search function did not give results for my question. My child is about to be 4, I just recently have been able to lose weight (so far 40 lbs). My stomach is very dry, I do have some stretch marks. I have not even thought about skincare for that area and I’m not sure why. I don’t think I will have a major loose skin problem, I’m losing weight slowly. It’s definitely different than before though and wasn’t really noticeable until the weight came off.Is there something special I can use to help it look even slightly like before? Was I supposed to be doing this all along? Is it too late now?

[Misc] Products for elderly skin?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hello!I’m thinking of getting some products for my grandma for the holidays—her memory is going, but she still puts time and effort into her appearance, so I thought that she might enjoy some skincare products! However, I know very little about aging skin! She’s in her 80s, and has fair, delicate/fragile, and sensitive skin that’s prone to tears. I believe her skin is on the drier side, and she doesn’t have any issues with breakouts. Her skincare routine is very simple at the moment—just a cleanser and face cream/moisturizer. I’d love to get her an item or two that is/are a bit fancier than the drugstore products she’s using right now, as well as something appropriate for her skin. I’d want to keep the products pretty basic—she’s used to the types of products she grew up with, and introducing something like a toner or facial oil would probably confuse her. Even just upgrading her face wash and moisturizer/face cream would be perfect. I’d like to stay under $50, and we’re in the US.Thank you!!

[Misc] GAME CHANGER YOU GUYS

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Ok maybe this is something that everyone was already aware of and I’m just late to the game, but...Adding hyaluronic acid to your body lotion is GAME CHANGING.SeriouslyI bought a 60ml bottle of The Ordinary’s hyaluronic acid + b6 to use on my face, along with a few other tried and true’s (nyacinimide, lactic acid + HA, rose hip seed oil) and just started adding it to my body lotion. I don’t even mind doing this because TO is so cheap. I’m from Canada and it’s balls cold and dry as a witch’s youknowwhats, so my skin has been constantly itchy and dry. This routine has been pure magic. All I use is a cheapo body lotion like Vaseline, add a drop or two of HA with every pump and BOOM. Best done after a shower when the bathroom is nice and steamy and the HA can soak up all that moisture. I find I don’t even have to do it every day as my skin stays moisturized for at least a couple days after. So ya, if you suffer from dry winter skin, grab yourself some Hyaluronic acid and give ‘er. You won’t be disappointed.

[Skin Concerns]To say my skin is angry due to having to wear a mask every day would be an understatement. I've tried so many different things to alleviate it's anger (will list in post) and nothing seems to have helped. Wondering if anyone might have any input or notice something I may have missed?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Pictures were taken just after mask came off for the day.For background, I have oily skin that I wouldn't really describe as super sensitive, just more reactive than anything (if that makes sense. It'll get red at the slightest touch, but tends to dissipate rather quickly). I've been struggling with acne for quite some time now, but seemed to have it relatively under control before mandatory daily mask use became a thing. I don't claim to be any kind of expert and please do correct me if you look at these pictures and think me to be wrong, but I believe my acne, when it does happen to occur, to be mostly hormonal in nature (I'm transgender and on testosterone). I did go to the dermatologist, but so far nothing they've tried has helped. My acne WAS under control pre-mask era so I'm really hesitant to resort to accutane, as I don't think this is an issue that's going to persist once we don't have to wear masks anymore. [Routine Help] need help giving the gift of skincare!

Beauty Tips For Body Care
need help giving the gift of skincare! My girlfriend (33yo) has been hinting that she would like to up her skincare game to combat some general dryness/puffiness and really focus on reducing some fine lines, so I thought why not give the gift of skincare! The problem is, I’m not sure which products I should be looking at because I don’t know what will work with her current routine. Any suggestions would be super helpful! Her skin type is dry with mild rosacea and eczema and the products she currently uses (although not super consistently) are:-Keihl’s Calendula Face Wash -Maelove Glowmaker serum -Maelove Nia 10 serum -Maelove Moonlight Retinol serum -Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer SPF 15 -Fresh Beauty Rose Face MaskI think I would like to get her a nice moisturizer for her PM routine, an actual facial sunscreen, and maybe a better retinol serum? I know her routine contains a lot of fragrance/essential oils so moving to more “clinical” formulations might be better!

[acne] spironolactone and periods

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Sorry if this is not allowed, but I had a question about spironolactone. I was taking this medicine for about 2 months and it was really helping my acne. I noticed that my period was lighter, but I knew this was a side effect, so wasn’t very concerned.I stopped taking it about a month ago, for other reasons, but now I have been having a period about every ten days and it’s very heavy. Does spironolactone screw you up long term? Did anyone else have these side effects?

[PSA] Why are so many in this group so against the diet/acne link? 🤔

Beauty Tips For Body Care
It's peculiar. I absolutely agree that skin issues are not solely a diet thing, but I keep seeing people post negatively about considering your diet/lifestyle as a factor in bad skin? When someone suggests thinking about diet to help, they are shut down with such scathing comments.Example the other day. Someone was at their wits ends, and someone suggested that maybe - on top of antibiotic use careful skincare product - they could try adjusting their diet.SO many people just shut this comment down, harking that diet is a complete waste of time and that there barely any actual evidence, only "anecdotal experience"Sorry, but most of the product stuff is a result of people's experiences with them and anecdotally promoting it? 😅What is so wrong with someone exploring a potential risk diet/acne link, when they have literally have tried everything (name all medicinal, acid, scientific shizzle here) ele?To be "anecdotal", I have absolutely seen huge improvements by changing by diet/lifestyle more so than ANY antibiotics or chemically engineered things I have tried over my decade of suffering acne.I am all for balancing a holistic approach as well as acknowledging a scientific approach to our body (hormone imbalances, excess oil production etc.), but it annoys me that people in this group are so quick to poo-poo diet/lifestyle when it - anecdotally - has helped so many people? Why shut their experiences down when it could genuinely help others?

[Skin Concern] I have a weird bruise under one eye and I'm concerned. I need advice on what to do.

Beauty Tips For Body Care
http://imgur.com/a/iKJXzmKSome background: I have always had problems with my skin. Bumps under the surface, breakouts in the same spots, hyperpigmentation, hair growing all over my cheek, open pores, etc. However, these problems were seemingly going away the last year and a half. I didn't have any consistent skincare routine (I knew nothing about skincare) but I did apply astringent to my skin every morning and evening. (didn't know what it actually did) I was taking Pollen Burst every day, an energy drink mix from Youngevuty that has "vitamin D and dismutase" in it. All I know is that it woke me up and made me feel great. It probably helped keep my skin clear too.A couple of months ago, shortly after I stopped taking Pollen Burst, I developed a small, dark, rectangular-shaped patch under my left eye. It was small yet noticeable and rested at the bottom of the circle under my eye. But as the weeks went on this patch started to grow alongside the curve under said eye. (Check pics for example) It wasn't a dark circle in the traditional sense, it was just a thin dark patch that looked like one. I stretch the skin under my eyes, getting rid of the curve, and most of the darkness under my eye goes away.I thought the patch would go away but it's been stuck on my face for the last couple of months. It's absolutely destroying my confidence when it comes to taking pictures. And it doesn't seem to be a dark circle. I need help because I'm starting to get concerned. My current skincare routine: 1) Wipe down my face with Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleaning Water. 2) Scrub my face with Cerave Hydrating Facial Cleanser. 3) Occasionally use a toner, astringent, or exfoliator. 4) Moisturize my face with Cerave Moisturizing Cream. 5) Apply CVS Health Repairing Eye Cream under both of my eyes. 6) Apply Neutrogena Rapid Clear Stubborn Acne Spot Gel to acne. 7) Apply Differen Dark Spot Correcting Serum to hyperpigmentation on forehead. I used to use this for under my eyes but I stopped. To be forthcoming: I don't do my skincare regularly, only 2-3 times a week. I also know little about skincare outside the basics. I barely know anything specific about the products I'm using. I'm still a newbie at all of this. But if I could get some insight on the weird bruise under my eye, then that would be VERY appreciated. Thank you everyone.

[Personal] My skin has never looked worse.

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi everyone,I am a 20 year old woman of South East Asian descent who has always had generally average skin! Growing up I’d get one or two hormonal breakouts but nothing crazy until I turned 19 in July 2019. Ever since then my skin took a turn for the worst and no one can seem to figure out why.My skin type is combo (dry cheeks and chin, oily nose and forehead). For over a year now I have been trying different antibiotics, topicals, changing my diet and routine with the help of my dermatologist to no avail. My skin has made no progress and even gotten worse. I am truly at a loss right now and just feel like I will have to live with these painful cystic breakouts for the rest of my life.I am currently on 50mg spironolactone, once daily and OTC differin which I am using twice a week. This is my third(?) week of spiro and second week of differin (first week I used it once, I’m trying to allow my skin to acclimate to it. I’ve tried using tretinoin but I think the cream formula is what breaks me out so my deem suggested differin. This year has been nothing short of a dumpster fire for me, as I’m sure it has been for most. But I lost my job, got rejected from the nursing school of my choice, got COVID, and just recently got broken up with by my boyfriend, so I’m sure none of these things are helping my skin at all. But I’m really in need of a win right now and I’m hoping you all will be able to help me with this.I love this subreddit and I LOVE to see all of your success stories and how seasoned in skincare most of you are. This sub brings me so much joy! Any advice or help is greatly appreciated. I’ve attached a link with photos of my skin in its current state and will put my routine in the comments.https://imgur.com/a/vzPpLOq

[Product Question] Help Finding Face Sunblock without Silicones or Coconut Derivatives?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
PEG, non PEG - silicones clog my pores... so do things like caprylic/capric triglyceride etc..and it seems like every facial sunscreen either has one or both! i've tried Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence and my skin hated it (the silicones). I'm not looking for anything natural, i don't really care about that too much. I would just like something that's good and works and doesn't break me out! If all else fails I'll just get the elta md and scrub my face really hard at the end of the day.

[skin concern] 1.5 old acne scars still on my face after 1.5 years (PIE scars)

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I first got acne when i was 17, every single pimple that healed left a scar behind (still, every scar i get now doesn’t go away). I read online that it usually takes up to 3 to 6 months for them to fade away, however the most dark acne scars i got from when i was 17: my forehead and middle left cheek and jaw area, still haven’t gone away after 1.5 years and i feel like they won’t ever go away. Because in those 1.5 years my acne scars have probably been reduced by only 20%. It makes me really depressed and my confidence has been destroyed by it.So my question is, why do my acne scars not go away? I know that genetics play a role and that everyone’s skin is different but my old acne scars have been reduced by only around 20% percent after 1.5 years which is kinda weird. Plus every new scar im getting now is obviously not fading at all too.

[skin concerns] Does anyone else's skin looks drastically different throughout the day?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Ever since damaging my moisture barrier about 9 months ago, I've noticed my skin can look pretty drastically different day-to-day, and even throughout the same day.In the morning, it looks pretty normal - even-toned and hydrated. By afternoon, it looks parched, dull, red, and dried out, and feels tight. If I go on a walk at night in cool, humid weather, my skin will look normal, glowing sometimes, for a little bit after the walk. But by bedtime, it's red and dull and parched again. If I sit in a car where the heating is on, or I'm in a room with central heating on, it turns red and dehydrated and flushed looking, then calm again when I can get some cool air.How can I get my face to look the same throughout the day? This sounds like such a weird question lol, I'm curious if others experience this or if I'm just a weirdo.

[skin concerns] My Cure for Chronic Resistant Folliculitis

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi everyone!I wanted to share my story in case anyone else out there is dealing with this awful situation. I suffered from what I eventually discovered to be folliculitis (for a long time I thought it was acne) all over my butt where a swimsuit would be .. for over 10 years. I have no idea where it came from but it was slowly spreading to the back of my legs and NOTHING I did helped. I went to countless dermatologists, tried oral antibiotics (which ruined my gut), topical antibiotics, every over the counter and prescription treatment I could think of... I thought I would never be able to confidently wear a swimsuit in public again.A few years ago, however, I discovered an article about Hibiclens and gave it one more shot. I've seen posts about Hibiclens for acne but if you haven't heard of it - Chlorhexidine, the active ingredient in Hibiclens, is a broad-spectrum antiseptic skin cleanser that is proven effective against bacteria, fungi, viruses, and yeast and is used in hospitals to prevent infections. At first, I was following the written instructions and using it as a wash. This didn't help much. After some trial and error though I discovered a specific method that COMPLETELY got rid of the folliculitis. My Method:Buy the generic version of Hibiclens at CVS or Walgreens because it's clear. Hibiclens is dyed pink and will ruin all your clothes. The solution is also very thin and will dry out your skin (keeping moisturized is important for this type of folliculitis) so you need to mix the generic Hibiclens with a moisturizer. I use eczema relief body cream by Eucarin. It's SUPER thick and calming and from my experience makes the Hibiclens MUCH more effective and long-lasting. No other moisturizer has worked nearly as well. Do this once a day until you see results. For me, it was literally overnight. After a while you can apply it less frequently, I only do this every couple of weeks or if I have a flare-up now. Just make sure to be careful when applying and definitely wash your hands after each application because Hibiclens can be dangerous if it gets in your eyes.I hope this helps someone out there!!!!! It literally changed my life.

[misc] Pharrell Williams has just dropped his skincare line HumanRace today. What is everyone’s thoughts on it?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
For a celebrity skincare brand, I think it’s actually not that bad. It is a sustainable company that uses refills for all its products, resulting in less waste. The ingredients list seem packed with great ingredients too. The wash-off cleanser and exfoliator only seem to have citrus extracts, but the moisturizer doesn’t have any. The only thing turning me off is the price point which is pretty high. Thoughts?

[misc] Vitamin C serum concentration

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I impulsively bought a vitamin C serum last week that has a 22% vitamin C concentration. I then read that this might be too concentrated for my somewhat sensitive skin. It’s also reddening my skin a bit. My question is would going down to a 20% concentration be enough or should I go down to a 15% concentration?

[Routine Help] - Is an occlusive necessary after 7 skins method?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Let me first just say, the 7 skins method is an absolute God send. I never used to know what people meant when they said that their skin "drinks up" something, but now I do and OMG it's amazing. Seriously, I recommend 7 skins if you need more hydration in your face.My question is, do I need an occlusive after? Specifically do I need one in the morning? At night, my routine after cleansing and exfoliating is - 7 skins method with Hada Labo Hyaluronic Lotion, spritzing water in between each layer (so my face can drink it up!) - couple drops of green tea extract mixed in with cerave healing ointment. This occlusive step I don't mind doing since I could care less how unsightly I look before going to sleep. In the morning, I do the same 7 skins routine, but I follow up with a single drop of squalane and a single drop of green tea extract mixed together. I'm wondering if I can skip the squalane and green tea and just stop after the 7 skins? I know hyaluronic acid is "supposed to" be followed by an occlusive, but my skins feels and looks so nice right after the 7 skins and then as soon as I add the squalane/green tea on top .... not so nice. I have very oily/porous skin and I think even the single drop of oil just collects and sits in my pores and looks ugly. Also, since I'm layering the hylaronic with spritzes of water for it to drink up, isn't it likely that the hylaronic will absorb that water and thus not pull water from the deeper layers and cause it to evaporate? My skin has been dehydrated in the past, but my barrier seems much better now.I'm pretty much resolved to giving this 7 skins sans occlusive (in the morning) thing a shot, just wondering if anyone else has any experience with 7 skins / hylaronic without an occlusive on top? Thanks!

[SKIN CONCERN] The front of my jaw and chin is a breeding ground for acne.

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I hate it - Sore, red, puss filled boils that leave scars. I never bother buying skincare products anymore, nothing seems to work and the endless amount of money that I have wasted is shocking.I'm not even sure about what the right products are for me or what my skin type is - Oily during the daytime, I use a gentle, seaweed based moisturizer every evening after a shower when my face has been washed, but no difference at all so far. A lot of the products that I have used leave it red and irritable, and after it has been washed BEFORE I use moisturizer, my skin is always dry, tight and uncomfortable. Around that area of my face is also scars from tweezing black hairs, entirely my own fault. Sometimes the black hairs and boils join together.I hate having skin like this and I want to do something about it. Can anyone advise me on a routine I should try, particular products based on what I described? Is a facial mask an option?

[Miscellaneous] What product have you used, where expensive actually = better?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I've noticed that a lot of luxury/high-end skincare products contain fragrance, which is not great for some people. It is often said that "more expensive does not equal better," but I imagine there are some exceptions. I myself use quite affordable drugstore products, and they're great! But its the holiday season, and I've been saving up because I really want to splurge on my mom, who has had a rough year as an essential worker. A really nice skincare product is something that I know she would love, but would never get for herself. She has sensitive skin, prone to redness. Thanks for reading and stay safe!

[Routine Help] Tretinoin has been enough.. Until masks. Now I'm breaking out again.

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I've used tret for over a year now, and right around August my skin was finally getting to a point where I was happy without makeup to leave my house (and I never went in public without makeup before). But since then I've been wearing masks regularly and often (college, grocery, etc) in the day. It's caused pesky outbreaks, but recently it REALLY broke me out in a variety of deep to superficial pus-filled pimples.I'm not sure what to incorporate into my routine to help with this (besides mask care and cleaning, which I already do).

[Routine Help] Washing your face every time after using a mouth mask - yay or nay?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hey guys, I hope I've used the right tag on this post. I'm curious as to whether it's a good idea to wash your face after coming home and taking off your mask after being out in public? Sometimes I'm out multiple times a day (ie I'll go grocery shopping in the morning, come home for a couple of hours, then go to work) so if that's the case I end up washing my face 2 or 3 times more than I normally would (usually only AM and PM before the pandemic). My skin has started to get a little dry from this (obviously lmao) and I've had a bit of flaking/redness but I'm concerned that if I don't wash it I'll have even more issues with clogged pores as my face does tend to get extra sweaty and oily when using the mask :( I currently use CeraVe's Foaming Facial Cleanser. Should I just wash with water only after removing my mask? Help :(

[Sun Care] Am I being ridiculous by applying SPF, in Ireland, indoors, when it’s overcast?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I apply sunscreen every morning regardless of whether I know what I’m doing that day, because it’s just part of my routine now. I use an SPF 50 for acne-prone. It doesn’t seem to break me out (although it sometimes exacerbates acne that’s already existing on my chin). Not doing it every morning would feel like not washing my teeth at this point.I live in Ireland. For reference, it rains and is cloudy almost daily from October until February, and I checked the UV index for today (a typical day) on my weather app and it says 0.Due to the pandemic, I tend to spend the whole day indoors. I shut my blind for 2/3 hours a day when I’m in online meetings, and for the rest of the time I’m working in the middle of a room with windows, or in front of a window.I tend to reapply sunscreen once or twice regardless on season (again, force of habit), usually before I go for a walk (but I’m not super picky about being too careful about it, since for half of the walk the sun has set anyway).I used to never wear spf because in Ireland, nobody I knew seemed to. I only really began using SPF because I use certain acids at night (and occasionally in the morning) that say to follow up with spf.I take Vitamin D supplements anyway, for my own wellbeing, as well as a multivitamin.Do you think I’m doing myself more harm than good by applying such a high spf? (and sometimes reapplying generally, literally only because it makes my skin look dewy lol.)I don’t want to cause myself a vitamin deficiency, or waste my own money. I apply spf more out of routine than anything, but every time I see people talking about how important spf is, they’re usually in a very different country/climate to me.Am I doing the right thing? Because if I’m not, I’d like to know. My spf routine is a force of habit now, although obviously anti-aging is great too. Genetically, my aunts/mom/family tend to have good, firm skin despite (very) bad sun care, so why not help that!I can’t really ask the fellow Irish people I know because, they aren’t into skincare and would think applying spf anywhere other than a beach is just madness. Even my mom thought I was crazy for applying spf 30 in August because “it isn’t hot!” lol. I don’t want to be a fanatic but I also don’t want to harm my skin either.

[Anti-aging] [routine help]

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hey! 34, male, in COLD minnesota.Over the past year and a half I've been using different items for wrinkles because I never took care of my skin and it the stress from 8 years in the army took its toll on my skin. I've been more and more interested in different products and I've been buying some of the "basics" for healthy looking skin and to erase some of the fine lines/wrinkles.Can one of you please tell me if I'm applying these products in the correct order?Morning: 1) cerave foaming cleanser 2) witch hazel toner (everywhere) 3) No7 line correcting booster serum (directly on the forehead wrinkles, crows feet, between eyebrows) 4) tree of life vitamin C serum (everywhere but only a little around eyes) 5) tree of life hyaluronic acid (everywhere) 6) mens no7 energizing eye roll (caffeine)Night: 1) cerave foaming cleanser 2) witch hazel toner (everywhere) 3) no7 line correcting booster serum (in the same spots mentioned above) 4) tree of life retinol serum (everywhere on face and neck. Only a little below the eyes) 5) Roc retinol correxion anti aging eye cream 6) tree of life hyaluronic acid serum (everywhere) 7) neutrogena rapid wrinkle repair retinol regenerating anti wrinkle cream (everywhere but only a small amount around eyes)I'll put on benzoyl peroxide spot treatment on pimples, when needed. But I usually do that about an hour after my morning or night routine. Or should I put it on somewhere in the middle of my routine?I also take a scoop of collagen powder in water every night and take some other supplements at the same time. Its definitely helped keep my skin hydrated and helped with pain in my joints (which is why I first started taking it).I bought these "drug store" products because I cant afford the expensive stuff. If you recommend a product that's similar in price, but more effective, please share.But... I really want to know if I'm using these products in the correct order. I know you should put them on from thinnest to thickest product. But some hyaluronic acid serums can get pretty thick lol.If you have any tips or tricks, please let me know! I'm very interested in learning about how to take care of my skin!Thank you for your help!

[Product question] Looking for replacement recs for my discontinued HG cleanser, First Aid Beauty Skin Rescue Anti-Breakout/Acne Clearing Charcoal Cleanser. Goodbye, my love.

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I was really devastated this week when I realised my favourite cleanser has been discontinued! If I’d realised in advance I’d have hoarded it. I’m in Australia and can only find US eBay resellers now.I loved this cleanser because it made my skin feel clean but not TOO CLEAN and soft, brightened and evened out my skin tone, and never caused redness. I’m looking for a similar replacement, does anybody have any ideas? Here’s some more info that may help:combination skin — nose can be oily, cheeks can be dryI think kaolin may be the ingredient my skin responded so well to, as my skin also really likes Lush’s Angels on Bare Skin (but I don’t want to use that every day). I’ve also generally responded well to salicylic acid and probiotic products.I’m not actually prone to acne, a Sephora assistant recced this because I was trying to deal with a painful recurring pimple. That pimple is still occasionally recurring, I think it may actually be some kind of curse. My skin in general still noticeably improved so I continued using it.My skin is moderately but unpredictably sensitive, I’m generally fine with fragrances and exfoliants but I think that benzyl alcohol specifically might cause redness and stinging. Phenoxyethanol, parabens, essential oils etc seem fine.I prefer a cream, oil or milk cleanser.Willing to spend up to about AU$40 (US$30).Ingredients of this cleanser: Active Ingredient: Salicylic Acid 2% Acne Aqua (Water, Eau), Disodium Laureth Sulfosuccinate, Bentonite, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Glycerin, Kaolin, Charcoal Powder, Chrysanthemum Parthenium Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Glycyrrhiza Glabra Root Extract, Vanilla Planifolia Fruit Extract, Yogurt Extract, Mel (Honey, Miel), Caprylyl Glycol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Xanthan Gum, Sodium Chloride, Quartz, Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate, Tetrasodium EDTA, EDTA, Phenoxyethanol. Thanks for your help everybody!

[Acne] Epiduo OTC dupe aka the only thing that's put a dent in my maskne

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I managed to go the first few months of mask wearing without any noticeable skin problems. I thought for sure I'd dodged a bullet until August when my chin decided to stage a coup and flare up with some of the worst cystic acne I've had in years around my jawline, lips, and up around my cheeks. Anywhere the mask touches. And nothing I had in my routine seemed to help at all.I'd never really used benzyl peroxide before since I'd always been able to resolve breakouts with all the other actives I have. But I had a little sample size of epiduo that my friend (who is a board certified derm) gave me and decided to give it a shot for one night on my chin. I topped it with some vaseline and went to bed. The next morning.... I literally couldn't believe my eyes. I didn't see any new pimples forming (I was seeing one or two new spots daily) and the most active spots on my face seemed to have faded down. Within 5 days of use, I had no new spots and for the first time in weeks, my older spots were healing. Aside from a few scars that seem to improve daily, my chin seems to be back to pre-maskne health.Well, I blew through my little epiduo sample very quickly so I reached out to my derm friend to see if I could get a script for it. Since I have terrible (American) health insurance, it's not a covered RX and would cost me about $450 out of pocket. That's when she told me that you can create an exact epiduo dupe with OTC products for like $15.Epiduo is adapalene (retinol) .1% and benzyl peroxide 2.5% aka Differin Gel and OTC benzyl peroxide. The exact same ingredients at the exact same strength which you can layer one right on top of the other for the exact same effect. I went to Target and grabbed both for a total of $17. In spite of the fact that it's now two steps instead of one there are seemingly no differences between the effectiveness. Once I got my maskne under control with every-other-day use, I dropped down to once a week use to maintain or for spot treatments and I have been VERY happy with the results. Some things to note: I always put vaseline on top to lock everything in and prevent my skin from drying out. I am an advanced retinoid user so I didn't experience any irritation from my benzyl peroxide use, but it is possible and I think the vaseline helps with that. Also BP bleaches your clothes so just be careful of your sheets/PJs.tl;dr: Differin gel and OTC benzyl peroxide are a perfect dupe for prescription epiduo and are the only thing that have improved my maskne after months of trying various actives.

[Misc] No-buy/low-buy thread: Black Friday edition! (November 2020)

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Been a while since we've had one of these, eh? And what better time to resurrect the No/Low Buy threads than Black Friday! It's the time of year where the message of "buy buy buy!" is louder than ever. Between holiday shopping, black friday, cyber monday, and whatever other made up sales holidays companies come up with, we're being encouraged to spend like never before. But not all of us want to spend! Some of us want to keep our wallets right where they are. That's what this thread is for - keeping our wallets safe & secure. We can share our goals and struggles for minimizing spending, support others who are going through the same thing, and motivate each other to keep going, even after having a setback!Everyone is welcome to participate however you'd like! But if you need some inspiration, here are some questions to get you started:What sorts of things usually tempt you during the high-spend holiday season?Do you have a plan for avoiding over-spending or impulse buys? Any tips or tricks to share?Do you need a "talk me out of"?Have you already had a no/low buy victory that you'd like to share? Or maybe something you're struggling with?p.s. - I'd like to resurrect this series, maybe as a monthly thread. Is that something you'd like to see? Would monthly be a good frequency? Let me know!
