Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hey, everyone. Over the past 10 weeks, I have significantly reduced my acne using the simple routine I've listed below. That's been great...I've gone from having a face full of large, deep pimples to almost clear skin. Although I don't get big pimples anymore, I still get about 1-2 small ones a week. Sometimes they will last for a day or a whole week. I feel as though my progress has stagnated over the past few weeks. My skin improved very quickly early on and while I have made nice progress in fading my red marks since, I can't seem to work through the last of my closed comedones + new acne. Is it common for an acne treatment to work quickly at first and then sort of plateau - and the last bit of clearance will be a longer process? Is there anything I should add to my routine? It feels amazing to go from objectively bad skin (I would say I had moderate level acne) to what most people would consider to be average skin with a couple mild pimples here and there...but now that I am so close to completely clear skin, I'd like some help to get over this hurtle.Thank you!Current Routine:AM: Aziderm - 20% Azelaic Acid Cetaphil SPF 30PM: Benzoyl Peroxide Cleanser Aziderm Cerave Moisturizer

[Acne] Is the Murad Acne Clarifying Cleanser good for my oily skin?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Disclaimer: This is my first post here so sorry in advance if this post is in the wrong subreddit and if everything sounds really amateur-ish..Anyways, I recently got this product by my parents a while back and I didn't know if this product was good for my skin. I currently use a minocyclin product but I don't remember the name at the moment. I recently ran out and was looking for a secondary/alternative product that can be equally as helpful, so for really oily skin like mine, is the Murad Cleanser right for my skin?Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

[personal] I FINALLY GOT ME SOME GRITS
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Not the eating kind, though. It was revolting, but viscerally satisfying at the same time.I used mineral oil to clean the day off my face, followed by a Stridex pad. After waiting the 20ish min, I used the Aztec clay mask with 1:1 ratio of ACV and clay, with a couple drops of witch hazel. After letting it sit for 20min, I wiped off with a warm cloth. I then used mineral oil again, but this time I let it sit for 15 minutes before massaging my face.Holy Moses, I thought the cloth I used to wipe off the mask must have been shedding because there were so many little lumps, but no. Just gross and unwelcome pellets leaving my pores. Thanks for all the tips, SCA!!

[Routine Help] Broken Arm
Beauty Tips For Body Care
So I recently got into a car accident and fractured my right/dominant humerus. So basically my routine is all out of sorts. It's obviously almost impossible to wash my face. My arm is in a sling, not a cast so it's impossible to move. I skip two parts of my routine: the actual face washing and my honey face mask. My current routine since my arm broke is as follows:Thayer's Lavender Witch HazelHyaluronic Acid SerumVitamin C SerumCeraVe Moisturizer (tub)my question is what on earth should I get to "wash my face since I can't physically wash my face in the sink? it's driving me crazy. And I miss doing my Manuka Honey face mask too which is also impossible since I can't rinse it off. I've tried using a washcloth but it's really difficult also because I'm stuck in a neck brace also.EDIT: spelling

[Acne] Use moisturiser on slightly damp or completely dry skin?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I usually moisturise after I shower, and when I get out, my skin is usually still a little bit damp/wet. Should I still moisturise, or should I wait until my skin completely dries up? I moisturised right out of the shower today, and it felt kinda weird cause it was kinda mixing with the water and spreading a bit too easily around my face and gave me a bit of a strange feeling that I'm not used to. If it's not anything bad, then I won't mind.Insight? Thank you!

[skin concerns] redness around my mouth
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Good evening,https://imgur.com/a/b8O4Ihttp://imgur.com/aGr7Id4I seem to have redness around my mouth area... it looks like a rash but it does not itch, and aside from aesthetic reasons there doesn't seem to be any issues aside from the location being red...for my routine, i use Cetaphil gentle face cleaner, and lotion on my face with Neutrogena non clog.. as well as sunscreen on occasion. and that's about it.. once a week i use a face mask made of mud, and also nose strips.. but the issue has been ongoing even before the mud face mask.. i have very oily skin.. using oil face wipes occasionally ..I've been lurking and just by going with a gentle routine.. it has helped my face tremendously but the redness is a bother.. thank you for the time. edit: another image http://imgur.com/wiWeurj

[skin concerns] Newly dry and irritated skin!
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I've always had combination skin. I had acne when I was younger and have a redness to my face in general, but never any major problems. But about three weeks ago I started having trouble with dryness, or at least I think that's what the problem is. So I moved about two months ago in the same city, but my new room is the hottest room in the house. When the weather started getting colder we would turn the heater on and my room would get hot the fastest. I started noticing red, itchy spots on the sides of my face around my jaws so I got a humidifier thinking it was because of my room. It hasn't gotten much better. It actually got worse yesterday when I went to the sauna at my gym. I couldn't fall asleep because of how hot my face felt. It was also extremely itchy. In the middle of the night I re-washed my face, and saw that my cheeks were so red with lots of little bumps. I was able to sleep after I re-washed and reapplied my moisturizer. When I put on my usual lotion this morning my face felt tingly, which never happened before. So I did a little research on this forum and bought CeraVe in the tub. I applied it when I got home and while it absorbed very quickly, my skin still felt tingly. I turned on my humidifier and was chilling in my room when I felt my face getting hot and itchy again. I don't know what to do anymore since I've never had dry skin before or my skin be this irritated. Any ideas for me would be greatly appreciated.I'll include my usual routine, but none of it has changed within the last three to four months.Morning:Wash with CeraVe foaming facial cleanser for normal to oily skinMoisturize with Clinique dramatically different moisturizing gelSunscreen Biore aqua rich watery essenceThen makeup using either Laneige BB cushion or Maybelline fit me matte and poreless foundationNight:Remove makeup with Simple micellar cleansing waterIf I put on eye makeup remove with Clinique take the day off makeup remover for lids, lashes, and lipsWash face with same face wash as the morningClinique mild clarifying lotion with a cotton padMoisturize with Neutrogena healthy skin anti wrinkle cream nightAgain, this has been my typical routine for a long time and the newest thing is the Simple micellar water which I've been using for 3-4 months now. This was a long post, but please give me ideas on how to deal with this new problem of dry irritated skin. I don't want to lose sleep again!

[Product Question] Started a new moisturizer, my skin is now in shambles. Could willow bark be the cause?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi guys,I just wanted to know if anyone out there has experienced this. After all this talk about fatty alcohols I decided to try something a little different than my normal Cerave AM moisturizer and got EltaMD AM.It was around this time that I tried out Paula's Choice skin perfecting BHA. Now I know, I should have let more time elapse...I'm paying for it now. Anyways, the BHA dried the shit out of my skin and left me with painful cysts. I just couldn't stand it, it was incredibly harsh and drying. I stopped after 3 weeks, while all the while continuing with my new moisturizer. It's been about a month since I stopped the BHA but my skin is just ruined. New whiteheads every morning (I counted 10 this morning!!!!) Which is definitely not normal for me.I've heard so many good things about the EltaMD line, I love how it feels and dries. Theres nothing in it that particularly screams breakout to me, but I saw that the Willow bark extract is equivalent to 1% salicylic. Could this be potent enough to be doing this to my face? Should I stop cold turkey and switch back to cerave? Please help!!

[Research]Can skin become resistant to 2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
From about 2005-2010 I had been using 5% Benzoyl Peroxide everynight for my acne. And after that, from 2010-2012 I bumped upto 10%, during these times my acne has been relatively predicatable/stable/moderate and not as severe now. In 2014 I suffered a massive reaction on my face from months of BP + AHA use without Sunscreen coverage. And since then, i've suffered my worst Acne breakout ever and am still getting the worst breakouts of my life now at the age of 25.I've been using 2.5% BP since that incident in 2014, as I slowly wanted to reintroduce a less strong active into my face which I was trying to repair. However, I don't think the BP is working as it had been for the better part of a decade. BP was fine up until my face was damaged, and since then I've been using 2.5% by Acne.org.Could it be because I'd been using 5% and 10% BP for so long, that anything below those strengths are pretty much negligible?P.S. The 5% BP I used to use were PanOxyl Aquagel 5%, which has been discontinued. The 10% BP was Quinoderm 10, which has also been discontinued. The 2.5% BP which I'm using currently is Acne.org's version.

[Skin Concerns] Need help with OCM
Beauty Tips For Body Care
So i've been using jojoba oil for OCM for about a week now, and overall my skin is looking okay for now, i got some breakouts but I feel like its the 'purge', I feel like my skin is going to be better though, but I'm wondering if I should add tea tree oil to jojoba oil to desinfect my zists, I heard some people say that it was a good idea and other say that it made the OCM ineffective, making the jojoba oil useless.

[Anti-Aging] Underestimated the power of retin-a and now I feel like I'm paying for it.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I was interested in tretinoin after reading study after study on the potential of tretinoin to prevent photoaging and possibly minimize the development of fine lines and increase collagen production. I am an Asian beauty skincare fanatic and I have had success with AB skincare/sunscreens along with a few actives such as vitamin c.I wanted to bump up my skin care regimen with some tretinoin, as I was already using retinol I thought maybe my skin was somewhat acclimated to retinoids, even if retin-a is 10x or more stronger than retinol. I was unable to see a dermatologist as soon as I wanted to and I had a .1% retin-a bottle unopened that I for some reason couldn't stand to have sit around anymore while I wait to try and get the .025% from a dermatologist.so foolishly I applied a pearl size amount to my entire face, including my lower eyelids (huge mistake). My skin literally went from 1-2 fine lines on my face that were almost completely faded -- to micro-fine lines and 'crepiness' all over my entire face. My skin was and is the thinnest it has ever been. It's also the driest it has ever been.I went through the peeling stage and extremely 'angry' and super red facial tone. My entire skin dynamic was changed for the worst. It was like my 5 years of skin care and daily sunscreen was all for nothing. Right now I'm in the worst mental state I think I have ever been in.So I post here on /r/skincareaddiction to see if anyone else who has used retin-a for anti aging or acne if they had a surfacing of fine lines and crepiness, and if the issues that surface resolved with time?I used retin-a .1% everyday for 7 days, I am now almost 7 days off retin-a and my skin has only stopped peeling and is no longer red, but, my under eye crepiness, micro fine lines and overall skin quality and thickness are just as bad when I had these problems surface after a few days of retin-a.Look, I know I'm an idiot for starting out on .1%, I know you're supposed to work your way up. But for some reason I thought all of these side effects were just that: side effects. I didn't read anywhere during my research that retin-a could cause a surfacing of all the problems mentioned above.I am so depressed and hopeless about this situation. Please, if anyone has any advice or anything to share about this situation, please do. I don't know where to turn.

[Personal] Had a facial, have some questions.....
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I had a facial last week, and it left me confused and somewhat unhappy. My skin is dehydrated with redness and acne. I purchased a groupon for a highly rated estetichian in my area. Within 5 minutes she had my skin plump, and it looked even toned. After she was finished I thought "wow! How awesome!" Within 20 minutes, my skin looked like the way it used to. For as much as she went on about dehydration, she washed my face before I left and just put on Dermalogica Tinted Moisturizer with spf 30. My skin felt dry and tight within 20 minutes of the facial ending. When I got home, my mom questioned if I even had anything done! Now my concerns, because I do want to find a good place to have a faciAL1) she never said what kinds of products she was using on my face. She pushed me to buy stuff, but she claims almost all the products she uses are homemade, so I can't even try to find similar products somewhere else.2) she pushed a lot of supplements like evening primrose and 15000mg of Resveratrol because she said that will get rid of the redness. Is she correct?3) is it normal for my skin to look so tight and dehydrated after a facial?4) she told me anything above spf 30 is a waste, and will only irritate my skin; I usually wear spf 50.5) what should I look for when I get a facial?I will not be going back to this woman, because while it looked good for 20 minutes, I would never pay the full price for her services.

[Product Question] Am I microabrasing my face to death?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
26M, oily acne-prone skin.I've been using Formula 10.0.6's Three Times Sublime for about a year now and while it makes my skin feel great, I'm worried about possible damage from microtears. Here's the ingredient list. The exfoliants seem to be pumice and jojoba beads. A couple more questions; if I were to not scrub my face with it and use it as a mask, would it still be mostly as beneficial as it is now? Should I be using it more or less than twice a week?

[PRODUCT QUESTION] Clarisonic/Luna/PopLeaf questions: Those who use the Luna, have you heard of or tried the "Pop Leaf"?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
My Clarisonic is making its last gasps and before I replace it with another (why the heck will they not make all heads have the same sensor technology as the Smart Profile, dammit...) I wanted to try something different. When I went to buy the Big Daddy tube of It Cosmetics CC for some friends, I saw this on QVC:http://www.qvc.com/Pop-Sonic-The-Leaf-Sonic-Facial-Cleansing-Devic.product.A288316.html?upsh=1&sc=A288316-CSWBAnd ordered one to try. It hasn't shipped to me yet, but so I have no idea how well it works. But I was curious what people thought of these things.I didn't mind the Luna for most of my face, but I took it back because the shape was a dealbreaker for me, I ended up feeling like I still needed my clarisonic--it's TOO round and I couldn't get it in the corners and stuff and while I could lower the vibration to do around my eyes, the shape just did not work for that. I don't mind the play/go for travel bec it's teeny but again, round. You can't get where you need to get. The Leaf has a pointy tip, and that seems like it would get around the nose, eyes better thus getting things cleaner and stuff.Also--do you use your Luna around your eyes on a lower speed? One thing I like about the Clarisonic is that I can bring it around my eyes and over my lids real quick....This is something I feel like is a little hard and might be too hard to do that with.Any thoughts?

[misc] How to lighten body hair?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I'm not sure where or if this belongs here. But I shaved my thighs once and I've regretted it ever since they grew back, they went from being light to being very dark. I don't want to use bleach if it means having to bleach them every few weeks but any suggestions would be helpful.

[Routine Help] Removing a physical sunscreen?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hey guys, So I am using Innisfree Eco Safety No Sebum Sunblock (SPF35/PA+++) which is a physical only sunscreen and I really love it, it doesn't break me out and just feels so good and clean on my face! But I never feel like it's completely off at the end of the day when I just wash it off with my Cerave Foaming Cleanser =/. To my understanding, the best way to remove physical sunscreens is oil cleansing, and I wanted to know if anyone has any suggestions? I am extremely acne prone and am currently suffering through a Curology purge, but according to my research oil cleansing doesn't really give you acne as long as you use the right products. If anyone has any recommendations for removing a physical sunscreen, I would greatly appreciate it !

[Routine Help] Vitamin C serum recommendations for combination, acne-prone skin?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I'm looking to incorporate a vitamin C serum into my routine for anti-aging and acne scars but I'm not sure which one I should start. Obviously, the Skinceuticals one sets the gold standard, but it's way too expensive for me to justify. Even the Drunk Elephant one at $80 is too much. I've searched around in the sub and notice some highly recommended ones but they come with concerns:OST 20: I'm concerned about this one because it contains fragrance and no ferulic acid or vitamin E, which apparently optimize the effectiveness of vitamin C.Timeless: It seemed to be the perfect dupe for Skinceuticals because it contains LAA + vitamin E + ferulic acid and the company claimed its pH was very close to Skinceuticals, but I read a few reviews where people pH tested it and the pH turned out to be 6, which makes it pretty much useless for anti-aging?Nufountain: Concerned because it doesn't include vitamin E, but I'm wondering if that may be a good thing since I have acne-prone skin? Also, this brand just doesn't seem to be as popular.Deceim Ordinary: Haven't actually heard much about this brand but the price point was what really got me. I suppose it can't hurt to put down $5 to test the waters with this one?For anybody who has tried any of these vitamin C serums, what has your experience been and what would your recommendation be? Sorry for the lengthy post and thanks so much for your help!Edit: formatting

A lot of shady stuff has happened with this subreddit recently. I think the community should talk about it.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
New subreddit sans marketing/website links: /r/skincareaddicts.TL;DR - some mods (all offenders now removed) seem to have been using this subreddit as a way to drive traffic to their website, which is monetised, have been deleting criticism, and 'shadow-banning' those who call them out, using automod.FINAL EDIT: The admins have spoken, and have banned the relevant mods.I have been added as a mod of /r/skincareaddiction, and have accepted.Person here has been effectively shadowbanned for expressing a dislike of the way the subreddit has been going. Says she knows of other people that this has also happened to.Person here has been messaged by a former mod about their concerns about the sub. Edit: have edited out link after they have been messaged by other mods, they don't want to be involved and I'll respect that. Sorry for any hassle caused! Here a mod talks about how they're trying to get people to move from reddit to their own personal website as an 'experiment' (???) - worrying as it makes it easier to monetise and gives them more control, free from potential admin involvement. Here somebody I was talking to has had their comments deleted, after they gave reasons for their suspicions about the subreddit. (admittedly not sure if the commentor did it or if it was mods - but would be strange for the commentor to do it randomly ~30 mins after posting). EDIT: it was definitely mods - my comments have been deleted too. Then of course there was this comment, which was removed by a mod for being critical of the video they were trying to promote. Reapproved after outcry.I'll update this if anything else is brought to my attention. But yeah. I really do love this sub, I think it's fantastic. I'm honestly just worried it's being taken over by people with less-than-honest intentions. I think a more open mod policy and less outright 'censoring' of comments would promote a better community. What do you guys think?edit: it's been brought to my attention that I too appear to have been shadowbanned, i assume just after making this masterpost?edit #2: have not been shadowbanned - just had my comments deleted. [ANTI-AGING]29 and Started using Tretinoin through the summer and aged 10 years in the process. But could Tret still save me?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Forgive the length of this I did my best to bullet point and paraphrase.PART ONE: THE VISITMay 2016: I go see my doctor about this shitty long line under my eye. (not the normal one close to my lashes, but the one below that. btw any suggestions on that are greatly appreciated) He tells me to make a few faces, pinches and pulls on my face and says "Its odd, you dont seem to have any lines or creases anywhere else..." So he prescribes me Tretinoin .1% and tells me to use it under my eyes, its cool he says, just do it. He doesn't warn me about the sun dangers, even though he knows I work outside 40hrs a week. Doesnt warn me to not apply it to a sunburn, or to 100% make sure you wear sunscreen all the damn time. The pharmacist just said "moisturize". I didnt know what I was getting into. No evidence ANYWHERE suggests that tretinion CAUSES wrinkles.PART TWO: THE APPLICATIONHoly hell my face is melting. Dear god, am I regrowing a new face? Its so red, especially around my nose. I didnt know you should keep this away from nose/mouth areas. Applying my moisturizer afterward seemed to carry it into all the undesirable spots anyways. At first, I started using this twice a week, then every other night, then every night. I thought i was doing pretty good. I experienced:*Severe Redness and burning around nose and mouth*Peeling/dusting*Sensitivity to other products*Tearing feeling around my mouth/nose area when yawning, I still get this today.I barely purged, and I noticed it made my eyebrows grow thicker(fuckyiss.) I didnt think anything of the symptoms i had, they were apparently normal, And I was moisturizing like crazy. My Routine (at that time) was:*AM - Nothing. Sunscreen applied between 10 -12pm. Neutrogena sheer touch spf305PM HOME FROM WORK SHOWER*Wash: Boscia Purifying cleansing gel*Serum: Dr jart Ceramidin liquid*Serum 2: Ole H vit c serum*Moisturizer: Murad skin perfecting lotion*Moisturizer 2: clinique moisture surge for dry spots.2 HOURS BEFORE BED:*splash with water. pat dry. wait 15 min.*apply tretinoin. wait 15 min.*apply Dr Jart ceramidin cream. feel the searing pain.*apply vaselineFast forward to late August 2016: It was at this point I was noticing lines forming from my nose to my mouth. I saw my reflection and thought....I look 37...not 28. I ditched the tret instantly, angry that I went from 1 shitty wrinkle under my eye, to suddenly 1 inch long crows feet on 1 eye, smile lines and lines on my forehead. So This is me today, been off tret for a 8 weeks now, and all the damage is still there:ForeheadMouth crease (goes up to nose both sides)As an experiment, I decided to only use tret on the outside corner of my right eye, (where the shitty wrinkle is.) The result:Right eyeLeft EyeThe left eye, untouched by tretinoin, has almost no crows feet.SEPT 2016: Re visiting My doctor, he would NOT believe me that this happened while on Tretinoin. He tried to say that I had developed those lines naturally over 3-4 months, after declaring me fine-line free in May. I said to him "You said I didnt have any lines though? surely this doesnt happen over 3 months naturally?" and he just looked at me with this confused sort of smirk on his face and said "well ....its just not possible, it doesnt do that." and his answer was to keep at it but with a lower prescription of tret, at .04% no other thoughts or suggestions.PART 3: WHAT WENT WRONG?Well, Im still trying to figure that out. I wanna say its my fault, and believe that I can still place hope in Tret.*I work outside all day, most of the summer.*I only wore a hat 60% of the time, and only wore sunscreen about 80%. In the early mornings of the gentle sun, I liked to work on my tan, and I didnt know it could go so wrong.*I applied it to a sunburn probably 5 times, before I found out this was a huge no.*I applied tret at night then (SMH) didn't wash my face in the morning before going to work in the sun. so dumb.*I didnt take a break when I should have, I pushed through the pain and kept applying. The internet said this was normal, so I foolishly ignored my body. such wrong, many dumb.PART 4: SO WTF NOW?Im trying to hydrate my face back to life by taking on an asian beauty regimen, with a couple western products involved. My current routine is in the process of changing. Incorporating some products from the ordinary right now, and on the way are the Rohto hado labo lotion and Mizon all in one snail repair. I wasnt happy with my Sephora based routine, it was costing a fortune and wasnt yielding satisfying results. Key ingredients Im focused on right now: Hyaluronic Acid, Vit C, Ceramides, Peptides, Niacinimide, AHA/BHA, and snail filtrate. My question to SCA,*Has anyone else ever experienced wrinkles from using Tretinoin? if so, did you recover? how?*do you think I can turn back to Tretinoin in a few months time to fix my wrinkles and get back to my wrinkle prevention?(providing I use it properly with proper protection) the options for proven wrinkle repair are slim, and im not in favour of botox/fillers or surgery.*or does it appear to just have a thinning wrinkling affect on some peoples skin, and should I just stay the fuuuck away?*And if I DO stay away, is this something that may correct itself or correct with a good hydrating routine, or did I just put myself on the fast track to aging? Thing is....I wanna give it another shot. Now that I actually have wrinkles...i have less to lose now than i did in May. It smoothed my pores and evened my skin tone.*Aging Australian sun worshippers, how do you find tretinoin works on your sun damaged skin??TL;DR: Doctor said i had no lines except this one under my eye. So he prescribed tretinoin for under my eye, but i used it on my whole face. Used improperly without enough sun protection and paid the ultimate price: multiple creases. Permanent? maybe. Only one eye was subjected to tretinoin and developed crows feet. Do not apply tretinoin close to eyes.

[Anti-Aging][Routine Help] Rapid Aging/Product use help!
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hopefully I am following the post guidelines correctly;I am almost 30 and have started to see fine lines appear on my forehead and under my eyes. While aging naturally I have no problem with, my skin seems to be aging rapidly in the last sixth months or so. Scars are not fading as fast, my skin doesn't seem to be renewing as quickly, it seems to be happening at an accelerated rate which is uncommon for the genetics in both sides of my family. I think some ignorance and wrong product use may be to blame:I have normal skin, not too oily or too dry, have very small hormonal breakouts once a month. I have scars I would like to fade from previous over scrubbing habits and monthly break outs. (From reading others posts I am much more gentle with my face) I have increased my water intake and taken on a regime with zero results, only worsening:Over sixth months of using these products so far:I wear bare minerals make up and have been using it without incident for a few years.PMI remove make up with Derma E- normal/oily anti wrinkle vitamin a glycolic cleanser with Papaya (I think this may be a culprit of drying my skin out lately as I do not have oily skin)I remove my eye make up with Neutrogena oil free make up remover (I was scrubbing eye liner off with a wash cloth and soap for almost a year and I think this may have done some damage)sometimes I will use a cotton pad and Humphreys witch hazel if I feel I didn't get all the make up offI then apply Garnier ultra lift miracle sleeping cream and have had zero results.AMI use Garnier skin active clearly brighter sunscreen and moisturizerI then put on mineral wear talc free correcting primer before putting on my make upI have been trying to Research adding vitamin C I to my regime to help my skin from discoloration and scaring, and even looking into "frownies," but I need advice from people who know more than I, and visiting a dermatologist is a luxury expense at the moment. [Routine Help] I want to start using AHA but have very dry, dehydrated and sensitive skin. Can I put AHA on top on my moisturizer instead of underneath? I dont want to leave it on dry unmoisturized skin for 20 mins!
Beauty Tips For Body Care
So as the title says, I have super dry, dehydrated skin. It's mostly under control as I literally use 4-7 layers of hydrating toners, essence, serums and moisturizer morning and night. Even through that, I can still have dry flaky skin around my nose, above my lips or between my eyes. I have the occasional CC as well, so I decided I wanted to try chemical exfoliation. I got 5% lactic acid from The Ordinary and I'm very excited to try it.... but I havent yet, because each time I wash my face, all I want to do is slap on a ton of hydrating products. If I dont, my skin gets tight and uncomfortable within minutes. Does this mean AHA will simply not work for me?I also have Retin-A, and it was MUCH too strong for me, caused insane redness and flaking skin... until I read some alternative advice, which was to put it at the end of the routine instead of the beginning. To wait until all your moisturizer was absorbed and your skin was dry to the touch and then put it on top. Worked like a charm, I got all the benefits and none of the harsh side effects. Can I do the same with AHA?

[Routine Help] Vitamin C/Antioxidant serum reccommendations?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi! I'm 24, and just now lesrning about proper skincare. I keep reading that Vitamin C/antioxidants serums are something I should be using, but I can't figure out which ones actually work, and I don't really have $100 to shell out on ones that seem to be top rated. Does anyone have any recommendations?

[Personal] "You're wearing makeup already." "No I'm not." "Seriously? You have really good skin."
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Got an awesome compliment that I can definitely attribute to this sub's advice! I was complaining about being too lazy to put makeup on to go out, and my friend says to me, "What? You're already wearing makeup.""No I'm not.""Seriously?" He pauses and gets a closer look. "You have really great skin."I have large pores and SFs in my T-zone, CCs on my forehead and jaw, and I break out along my jaw. My current routine is meant to address these concerns and prevent wrinkles: AMAndalou Apricot Cleansing MilkRainshadow Labs Vitamin C SerumSilk Naturals Super SerumDeVita Eye Lift CremeAndalou Oil Control BB SPF 30 PMJojoba oil to remove makeupAndalou Apricot Cleansing MilkPaula's Choice RESIST BHA LiquidDeVita Eye Lift CremeRosehip oil (not every night)Rainshadow Labs 1% Retinol Face Lotion I have been following this routine for about six weeks now I believe, and my skin is definitely improving. The biggest difference has been the reduction in breakouts and CCs along my jaw line, and my skin looks more even and bright. Some nights I do use Silk Naturals AHA instead of my BHA when my face looks dull, and then often follow that with Egyptian Magic, which I like fine. My SFs are slightly clearer but I would like to see more happen with those and for my jaw line to clear up completely. So, thank you to all of the advice I have received on this sub so far! I'm feeling much better about my skin. I don't think I realized how tired I looked with dull, dehydrated skin until my skin started to even out and liven up.

[skin concerns] How long does it take for PAULAS CHOICE AHA and BHA to work? (for scar removal/skin texture improve)
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Been using it for about 3 weeks and have only seen minor improvement. Mainly i am trying to diminish scars (possibly some hyper pigmentation). I'm really just trying to get skin as close to perfect as possible. I also have a bunch of little bumps on my forehead (not acne - apparently it is sun damage).Any tips are appreciated.

[Misc] What do you use to wash your face, not product but the tool (washcloth, muslin, sponge, brush, etc.) and how to you store it?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I've been using a cellulose round sponge and the bamboo soap holder I was using was getting mold on it. (Argh!) So it's now on a metal soap holder, but it got me wondering what you all do. I've used muslin cloths now and again for balms. I wind up hanging it in the shower to dry but it seems so inelegant. My Clarisonic is in a toothbrush cup holder because it doesn't have a stand and I don't have counter space to lay it flat. Anyone else having these organization issues? Thanks.

[Product Question] How do you know that the products you're buying online from places like Amazon are the real deal and not just knock-offs?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I didn't realize it but a friend told me that there's a big racket on passing off knockoff sunscreens, creams, and moisturizers, as high quality products typically purchased from dermatologists' offices. Because I've bought a few EltaMD products from Dermstore and Amazon, I'm unsure if what I'm buying is typically authentic if they're not licensed retailers. While the logical way to find out is to apply and see if I get a sunburn, it would probably make more sense to ask you guys here for your thoughts and experiences on fakes.

[Acne] 18yo guy with no clue about facial care needing help
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hey guys,I'm always been a little self conscious about my face complexion, however, never got around to actively follow a routine. So this time, I would like to try out a routine but I need your help as I'm completely oblivious to this kind of thing. I used to be on acne antibiotics (unsure, just got them cause my mum was worried and she asked the doctor for them). This was around 2 years ago.Current 'routine': - wash face twice daily with Byphasse face purifying cleansing gel - apply EFFACLAR DUO on affected areasThese products were just things that my sister gave to me so I just used it without no knowledge of what it really does for me.Main issues for me are: - acne/ acne scars - can I get rid of those black spots? Not sure what they're called (moles? blackheads?)Pics: https://puu.sh/s0BLI/a8d10365c5.png https://puu.sh/s0BLZ/4f282398bf.png https://puu.sh/s0BMe/9bb6d4b17e.png https://puu.sh/s0BNk/70955720ff.pngWould really, really appreciate your help. [Misc] Guide to seborrheic dermatitis
Beauty Tips For Body Care
What is seborrheic dermatitis? It is a red, itchy, scaly, flaky rash that I commonly found on the scalp, or nose and surrounds. It looks similar to eczema or other dermatitis conditions. Here is an image of what a mild-serious case may look like. What causes seborrheic dermatitis?Nobody really knows, however it is believed to be an inflammatory reaction to high amounts of Malassezia yeast. As with many skin conditions lots of factors can inflame this condition; alcohol, stress, drug use, poor hygiene, cold/dry weather, and other medication.TreatmentsI'm going to list what I tried and how it worked for me - please note that this doesn't mean they will/won't work for you, different things work for different people.ClotrimazoleWhen I was told it was a fungal issue I used this OTC anti-fungal. It did nothing. Might have made it worse. I've since learned that ketocanozole is typically recommended but I did not try this. Zinc pyrithione and selenium sulfide may also be used.KeratolyticsI used clearasil pads that have salicylic acid (2.0%) in them. This helped remove the scaly skin but did not solve the issue at all. Tried the pimple cream too but that's also just salicylic acid so same results.Benzoyl PeroxideThis is an acne treatment cream. I thought it might work. It made the skin more dry but did reduce the redness. So yeah don't do this.Salt bathsThis worked surprisingly well. By washing my face thoroughly with warm water, than mixing in a tablespoon of salt into warm water and washing my face with that for a couple minutes, and then washing with cold to close the pores I saw a reduction in redness and less scaly skin. However, it's salt. Shit dries out your entire face and makes it feel tight.HydrocortisoneWorked magic. Applied in the morning, applied at night. Woke up with a clear face. Legitimately the best treatment I tried. A 1% cream is OTC so you do not need to see a doctor. This is my recommended treatment.MoisturizersOne issue with this type of skin condition is that it causes dry skin, so you want to moisturize, however a lot of moisturizers contain oils that will cause the condition to flare up, leaving you with even more dry skin. You need to look for a moisturizer without oil if possible. Glycol, glycerine, mineral oils, and vegtable oils (sometimes listed as an acid) are all very common in moisturizers, even the 'all natural' ones because these are natural ingredients. Avoid them.Dimethicone will not do well with your skin as it traps moisture in, but accelerated fungus growth. On the other hand parabens can help your skin, despite being quite harsh.Shop around and find what works.ConclusionThis is just my experience, and is not a conclusive guide by any stretch. Hopefully this can help someone out there fix their skin!

PPlease help! I don’t know what I could use to possibly rid myself of this redness and all the hyperpigmentations. I actually don't even know if this is hyperpigmentation anymore. Pictures: http://imgur.com/a/qwTWjThroughout middle school and high school, I struggled with acnes and even cystic acnes. I have tried Proactive and other acne treatments before. But now I’ve realized that those are too harsh for my skin and I no longer have cystic acnes. However, I believe that ever since I got on birth control, I stopped breaking out (or at least I break out much less now). I get pimples here and there when I stay up too late and not get enough rest during finals week, but other than that, this is considered “normal” skin to me.My skin type is combination, however it tends to either be really dry or really oily. This is my routine as of now:Morning: • Face wash: Cetaphil gentle skin cleanser • Toner: White Seed whitening toner from The Face Shop • Lotion: White Seed whitening lotion from The Face Shop • Sunscreen: Target brand Sherr Dry-Touch Sunscreen with SPF 30 Compared to Neutrogena Ultra Sheer (I never leave without sunscreen because my skin gets irritated so easily without it)Makeup used: • BB Cream: Misha Perfect Cover with SPF 42/PA+++ • Foundation: (sometimes) Tarte Rainforest of the Sea • Concealer: Maybelline Instant Age RewindEvening: • Facewash: Neutrogena Fresh Foaming Cleanser for makeup remover o Cetaphil Gentle skin cleanser as double wash • Toner: White Seed whitening toner from The Face Shop • White Tree Snow Hydra Advance Emulsion from The Face Shop • A few drops of Leaders White C Fluid patted on topOnce every few days: • St. Ives Blackhead Clearing Green Tea Scrub to exfoliate • Mud mask • Sheet masks

[acne] Hope this helps anyone with acne.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hello, I am a 29 year old half asian male. I had acne starting about when I was 13 til about when I was 25. I struggled with it for 12 years. It covered my back, chest and most of my face. I would be hopeless at times, trying creams, proactive, face-washes anything to rid me of my acne. I would go through periods of apathy, knowing there was nothing I could do. I sort of gave up trying, hoping it would just go away or i would grow out of it. Then I met a girl and she was a nutritionist. She never mentioned anything about my acne but after a few months I brought it up to her and asked for her help. Her solution was simple. Stop eating dairy. The hormones in female cows (not to mention the added hormones) don't usually sit well with humans. I did. I mainly had cheese. Not really a milk drinker. Anyways I knocked dairy out of my diet and it worked. I am acne free now. No shame going swimming or taking my shirt off. I don't wake up every morning dreading what my face will look like this time. The solution was simple. I wish someone told me 12 years ago. It would have helped me so much. I thought I would share in case this works for other people and they haven't tried it yet. The main thing to remember about acne is that it is an internal reaction. Creams, washes, soap etc.. help but they do not handle the root problem which is internal. Skin is the body's largest organ. It will manifest issues it is having, or disagreements about foods in many different ways. Listen to what your body is telling you. Keep a food journal, track what foods trigger your acne and which one's help it. Hope this helps at least one person and saves them from years of hopeless acne.

But I just can't get rid of my acne. :( I'm depressed, my social life is gone, I've been locking myself up for a few months now, not going anywhere, Not going out with friends or anything. [Skin Concern] Why is it frowned upon to sleep in makeup but we wear it all day sometimes a lot longer than a night's sleep?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Kind of a shower thought. At a Halloween party last night, many drinks were had and I couldn't be bothered to go through my entire routine. I got all my makeup off with cotton rounds and micellar water, and got my AHA on before getting into bed but when I woke up this thought popped into my head. Curious to see what SCA has to say!

[Acne] I'm going to apply my 1st salicylic acid 30% peel at home
Beauty Tips For Body Care
hey i'm going to apply my first salicylic acid 30% peel tomorrow at home. i've applied salicylic acid 2% on my face 2 weeks to build a resistance. i'll only do a test peel tomorrow and keep it for 1 min on my face to see how my face reacts. the next time i'll keep the peel for 2-5 minuts, i will see then. my question is, is the baking soda neutralization part really necessary? can i just use a cleanser to wash of the salicylic acid instead of neutralizatin with baking soda and then wash it off with cool water? i'm planning on doing this peel after i wake up. i'll also moisturize my face when i'm done with the peel but here's another question: before i go to bed can i shower and cleanse of the moisturizer of my face? oh yes 1 more question, can i keep apply benzoyl peroxide the next days after i did this peel? thnx! any other tips are welcome too :). [EDIT] I also posted this at /r/acne but I thought I'd post this here too cuzz this forum is way more active!

[Personal] Gentle foaming cleansers too dehydrating, OCM breaks me out. My solution: Micellar Water
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Bioderma Sensibio Micellar Water.Thank you. I love you. I know it's pretty sacrilegious on SCA to ONLY use a micellar water during your nighttime routine. Especially since I wear makeup. But this is what works for my moderately oily skin. I was using Cerave Foaming Facial Cleanser, and even that completely stripped my skin. I decided to switch to the OCM. I used sunflower oil and a nice party of white heads decided to show up on my skin (which I'm in the midst of getting rid by applying the PC BHA about 2 times a week). I may not have done the OCM properly, or I could have tried another oil. But I didn't want to take the chance. So I went back to the Cerave Foaming Cleanser. My skin just became textured and irritated again. In comes the micellar water. After some extensive research (cosdna.com'd my life away), I decided on the Bioderma Sensibio. I'm in love, and granted, extremely late to the party.I can lazily do my nighttime routine in bed, and even better, I get the best of both cleansing worlds. My skin doesn't feel stripped at all like it would from oil cleansing, and I avoid whiteheads and angry closed comedones as I would with a foaming cleanser. FULL ROUTINE:Morning: Bioderma Sensibio on one cotton pad if my skin is looking particularly oily that morning.Cotz Natural Skin Tone SPF 40 SunscreenSappho Organics Foundation (This foundation looks super natural, and the ingredients keep my skin nourished throughout the day) Night: Bioderma Sensibio on about 6 cotton pads until the last one is clean (I use this to remove eyeliner and mascara as well)Paula's Choice Resist Super Antioxidant Serum with Vitamin CCerave PM Moisturizer

[Skin Concerns] Red bumps right hip and inner thighs.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Ok, 26/m, new to this sub. I can't take a picture at the moment but for years I've had these zits that pop up around my belt line and down my hip/butt. Most of the time they don't pop. But some do and they're usually big. Some have areas of inflammation up to the size of a golf ball. It takes them about a week for them to go away if I don't touch them. But almost always, and this is what I read in the wiki leave behind PIH.Went to the dermatologist for unrelated reasons, and showed him my hip area and he just glanced at it and said oh yea, that's folliculitis, and then the appointment was over. I'm not super convinced it is that or not.So my question is, if it's folliculitis, how do I go about treating it? And could it be something else?I really wish I could take a picture of it at the moment but I'm at work. Thanks for all the help!

[Skin Concerns] How does A Tropical Environment Affect Skin?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I have always struggled with pretty severe deep cystic acne and have been able to keep it somewhat controlled with antibiotics (I hate that I feel the need to take them, but they're the only thing that has worked for me). This summer I had a strange experience with my acne. I travelled around southeast Asia for a few months. It was hot, muggy, I was constantly sweating. I thought this would trigger some heavy breakouts in my skin, but to my surprise, after a few weeks of tropical weather in Thailand I had the clearest skin in years. I did not change any other aspect of my routine. The only thing that was different was my environment. Once I got back I noticed, week by week, my skin becoming congested and irritated. Has this happened to anyone else? Any Ideas for why this happened? Maybe the humidity kept my skin more moisturized, and therefor happier? Perhaps it could be a diet thing. I have no idea. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

[Personal] Learning that HOW you use products can matter as much as the products!
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I have a new appreciation for "YMMV." I've been on SCA for a couple of years and have made a TON of progress in that time. I learned to patch test everything, to try new products one at a time, listen to my skin... All of the things SCA is about. But a couple of months ago I was feeling discouraged. I KNOW that none of the products I use on my skin break me out, but I was consistently getting deep acne. In spite of regular exfoliation, my skin was often flaky, even though it didn't feel dry. So I started to play around with HOW I use my products, and it has made a huge difference.First, exfoliation. I was using AHA and BHA on alternating nights (so BHA one night, AHA the next), which meant I was exfoliating every night. In the past I had used BOTH every night, so it didn't seem like this should really be causing over-exfoliation. But I did a little research and found a lot of recommendations now to exfoliate more than twice a week. So I dialed it back to doing both BHA and AHA on the same night, but only twice a week. Well, that did reduce the flaking, but it made me break out more. So I bumped it up to every other night, and baby that is the sweet spot. I'm not flaking anymore, and my acne is under control.Next, moisture. At night I always add a few extra drops of glycerin to my moisturizer. I ran out recently and couldn't find it in a store for about a week. During that week my skin really dried up, so I knew that the extra glycerin made a difference. I started to think about glycerin, and how it works by attracting and bonding with water, and decided to try leaving water on my skin when I moisturize at night. So after I wash my face, I very lightly blot off a little of the water left on my skin, then mix SebaMed Clear Face Care Gel with two or three drops of glycerin and massage into my damp skin. I let that absorb for about a minute, then finish with petroleum jelly. My skin feels so soft in the morning, and I'm noticing less oil developing throughout the day.TL;DR - YMMV doesn't just mean this product might work for me but not for you, it can also mean how often or in what combinations you use them. If you think your products could be doing more for you, play around with them a little. You might find that tweaking your methods improves your skin without introducing new products!

[Skin Concerns] Increased PIH and more cystic acne after starting Stridex
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi guys, I (f25) recently started taking better care of my skin, which has always been acne prone since I was a teenager, and has only been getting worse since then. My current routine:AM: wash with water, then apply The Body Shop Vitamin E moisture-protect SPF 30 sunscreen or Nivea Soft moisturising cream. PM: wash face in shower with Boots Skin Clear face wash, wipe with stridex pad, wait 20-30 minutes then apply Nivea Soft moisturising cream.I've been doing this routine for a little over two months now. I did introduce the products more or less gradually. After starting using the stridex pads I feel like my skin has improved, my spots are less angry and red, and the amount of whiteheads and closed comedones has decreased. However, not everything is improving, so onto my questions!Cysts: I have always gotten big, cystic spots, but usually only one or two at a time. This summer I started getting more, and after starting stridex I feel like they aren't going away. Currently I have two red, angry active ones on my chin, and four in other locations on my face that have calmed down, but are now just hard lumps under my skin that aren't going anywhere. I did change my birth control in January/February (from nexplanon to cerazette), could that be causing a flare-up in cystic acne now? My chin is the worst area, but I'm not getting any around my jawline. I'm also wondering why they now just seem to lie latent under my skin instead of going away after a few weeks like they used to. Anyone have any ideas as to how to get rid of them?PIH: I never really had a problem with PIH before, but now I'm getting dark marks after almost all my spots, especially on my chin. Am I not using enough sunscreen? Anything else that could be causing this?Sorry for the rambling wall of text, thanks for reading all of it!

[Acne] Thank you Accutane and Epiduo!
Beauty Tips For Body Care
For some reason, I broke out really bad at the end of August and that was the time I decided I needed to see a specialist. So I did. I was really nervous before the appointment with the dermatologist but everything went well. He prescribed me Accutane (10mg/day) and Epiduo and I'm two days away from 2 months. I used to constantly have more than 10 active pimples, which sounds like a lot but if you count everything it's not really that much. Before the appointment I must have had 80, probably more.Today I can proudly and happily say that I have 0 active pimples. My skin overall still looks worse than before the breakout because of all the PIH/PIE though which makes it seem like I'm still covered in acne. I've gotten used to it though.I am really happy though. One of the greatest things that is that my routine is super basic now. I wash my face with water and apply moisturizer in the morning, and I wash my face with water and apply Epiduo at night. That's it.I will not post B&A photos today though for the reason mentioned above, but I will sure do it in a couple of months. I just wanted to say that this was one of the best things I could have done!If you have any questions just ask.Thank you for your time!EDIT: I am taking progress pics and I will include them in the B&A album.

[skin concern] How do I counter the dryness from using benzoyl peroxid?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi! I have recently been getting quite a few flareups. Especially on both side of the cheeks. (it's very weird how its pretty much in the same place, parallel of my face)I have used benzoyl peroxid 10% (I think this is too much, I realized) and my dryness are pretty huge after using it. How do I get the skin moisture again? Is there any kind of masks or oil which would be effective? My skin gets red and flaky when using BP, but it really eliminates my acne I feel.Best regards..

[PSA] Get your moles checked.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
So, I have had a lot of moles for most of my life and my dad has always told me that I had a high risk of skin cancer because of this. I wasn't very good about using sun screen as a kid, and I was a lifeguard for 4 summers (only used sun screen for the first few weeks). My doctors had always told me to keep an eye on my moles but I went several years without health insurance or seeing a doctor. I go to the health department now that uses a sliding scale, so I can see a doctor for $15 a visit. I started going for BC but they have a dermatologist, so I made an appointment. He saw a mole on my stomach that was darker and wanted to cut it out immediately. I haven't gotten my lab results back yet, but I just got my stitches out today. I follow this sub but have never posted but I was hoping you might ease my mind about my lab results because my dad has been freaking out for the last two weeks and that has made my anxiety about the whole situation worse. Also, what can I use to reduce the scar? Also, what's a good daily face moisturizer that has sun block? I use Cerave in the tub currently and love it. I don't really have a daily routine and I would say I mostly have no skin issues. Just thought I would leave a warning to keep up with checking moles and maybe some help to be more proactive in the future. Here is where they cut me open: http://imgur.com/T30z6Nm

[Skin Concerns] Looking for a Vitamin C serum
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi everyone, I hope this is the right place to post this! I had an appointment with my facialist this morning and she recommended I use a hydrating vitamin C serum nightly as my skin gets dry (like everyone else) in the winter months. She mentioned I didn't have to spend a lot, and that there were even ones on amazon that were inexpensive. However, a quick search on amazon and several products and reviews later, I found that they all had phenoxyethanol. I looked it up and I saw that it's toxic especially with long term exposure. Is this true? I tried to find a product on amazon that didn't contain it, but they all did. I'm scared to buy a product that will end up doing more harm than good in the long run.So, should I not use any of the products I was looking into because they contain this preservative? Is there any hope of finding a product that doesn't contain it? Any responses and information are much appreciated!

[routine help] i need cleanser and moisturizer recommendations.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Male teenager here, main concern is acne. My current routine is cetaphil normal-oily cleanser, stridex, simple replenishing rich moisturizer.I need new cleanser and moisturizer recommendations to balance my skin out, idk if my skins oily or whatever but after i cleanse or even if i shower my skin feels tight and around my mouth its dry and my nose creases are red too, but after i moisturize in the morning with jojoba oil or now the simple moisturizer my nose and for head and even my cheeks get oily if i dont wash with water throughout the day. at night its fine because im sleeping. So yeah TDLR: cleansing leaves me tight and moisturizing makes me oily-er... What do?Also i use bar soap when i shower. Should i use zinc soap or a moisturizing body wash, like nivea or something i can get at the drugstore?

[Product Question] Anyone have success using Silk Naturals 2% AHA Toner for PIH?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hey all,So I picked up the SN AHA Toner after reading some good reviews on here about it, specifically for treating some PIH I have on my cheeks and forehead from long term breakouts. I introduced it very slowly and I've been using it for a month now and I'm not seeing any success so far. How frequently should I be using this stuff? I've listed my current routine below.AM: - Rinse face with water - Moisturize with Cerave PMPM: -Wash face with Cerave Foaming Cleanser -Stridex (in the red box) all over face (let sit as long as possible, 5-15 mins.) - 3 times a week use SN AHA Toner on problem areas ONLY and let sit for 5-15 mins.(I'm terrified of drying out my skin) -Moisturize with Cerave PM + 1-2 drops pure jojoba oil on t-zone.Im extremely hesitant to add in more products - about a year ago I completely damaged my skins moisture barrier using too many harsh products and it's been a slow recovery. My current routine has been great in helping my skin get back on track and the last piece is fading these leftover scars. For reference, I have combination/dehydrated skin that's pretty clog prone - I suffer from long term closed comedones on my forehead, cheeks and chin thats slowly getting better since I introduced Stridex as well as hormonal acne for which I can't find a fix. Any and all help is appreciated!!!note - sorry if the formatting is funky, I'm on my phone and can't tell how it looks!

[Skin Concerns] I have old acne scars (larger ones) on the sides of my nose, they seem to have left a bumpy shiny area there. There is like 3 or 4 on each side. Is there anyway to get rid of them?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
They're from the past 4 or 5 years and they seem to have stuck, is there any hope on getting rid of them? They're only on my lower nose skin on both sides. Do you know if laser resurfacing could work? Or is there a cream that could possibly help?

Hi all. Once again posting in hopes that this won't be deleted. So, does anyone know or swear by a great moisturizer? I'm looking for something moderately priced too. [Routine Help] Skin looking dull after same routine for almost 3 months
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi All! I started a new routine around the end of July, and it has been working wonderfully so far. However, the past couple mornings when I wake up, my face is looking dull and just... blah. I am 23, have combination skin, I'm white, live in Central Alberta, red hair, and have fair skin. Not sure if that last bit is pertinent, but oh well lol.My routine is as follows:AM- Wash face with warm water, finish with cool water - Moisturise with Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel w/ spf 15PM- Remove makeup with SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water & Makeup Remover (waterproof kind) with a cotton pad - Wet face with warm water - Wash face with one of those silicone cleansing pads you can get at Sephora, can link a picture if necessary, and Neutrogena Ultra Gentle Daily Cleanser (foaming), rinse off. - Dry face with cotton pad- Use L'Oreal Revitalift Bright Reveal pad, let it sit for 5 mins (introduced about 1 month ago, used every other day)- Moisturise with Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel w/ spf 15 - Use Clean & Clear Advantage Acne Spot Treatment on any zits hanging aroundIs there some reason that my skin would be looking more dull but oily in some spots? My period is due within the next week but I don't think it did this last month. Thanks!

[Skin Concerns] Chapped, peeling lips and no lip balm works
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Sorry, this is going to be a pretty long post. But if I’m going to ask for help on something, I might as well give you as much detail as I can right? :)So I've had chapped lips pretty much my entire life. And they peel like crazy. They peel when they're dry. They peel when they're "moisturized" even. As in when I put on lip balm, they start peeling in these soft flakes...if that makes sense. And I have a horrible habit of picking at my lips when they peel because I get self conscious about other people seeing. Basically, I need a solution. I have fine lines in my lips from rubbing and picking at them so much, and I don't want to have old, loose-looking lips, though they’re probably already at that point tbh. And I'm only 20!So I know that a lot of lip balms are petroleum based, which is useful for locking moisture in, but doesn’t give moisture to the lips. And I think that definitely plays a big role in my situation. That I’m preventing my lips from being drier than they already are, but I’m not helping them be more moisturized? But if that’s the case, what am I supposed to do? Are there any lip balms or treatments that will help? I’ve tried a ton of the popular lip balms out there, and none have particularly impressed me. I’m going to go against popular opinion and say the month I used Aquaphor was the worst time for my lips ever. I remember my lips literally being in pain from being peeled to the point of rawness and bleeding. My “favorite” (lol if I can even use that description) so far has been the Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment. It’s not amazing, but it probably works moderately better than most others. I looked at the ingredients, and has a lot of oils…if that’s what’s working for my lips. Bigelow’s Rose Bud Salve is also all right. It’s soothing when my lips are getting raw and irritated. I used it after that Aquaphor disaster to heal my lips back to normal dryness.Just to cover other details: I’m sure some of you might mention my water intake. I would say that’s not really a problem. I always carry a water bottle with me, and I really do drink enough water. When I’m super hydrated, it does reflect in my lips a little bit, but they’ll still get dry and flake. I also would say my skin leans on the dry side in general, so it probably makes sense that my lips are dry, but should they be dry to this point? And no one in my family deals with this, so it’s not genetic. Thanks so much for reading to this point. If you have any remedies or insight, please leave me a comment! And if someone has a science background and knows about ingredients and can recommend a product or something, that’d be great too! Thanks so so much!

[Personal] I accidentally took the head off a dried up whitehead. What should I do to heal the scar that was leftover?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Please help. Have a date in 3 days.I used Mario Badescu's drying lotion to dry up a whitehead over a period of two days. The pimpled did dry up. As I was getting out of the shower today, I noticed that some of the lotion was still on the whitehead, so I used a q-tip to clean it off. Then, I accidentally knocked off the dried up head.A red hole/scar is all that remains at the location. The circumference of it is about the size of an average sized whitehead. There was no bleeding, just this mark that I want to get rid of. What should I do to get rid of it?Vaseline? Neosporin? Leave it alone?TL,DR: Title and first line. Please help.

They aren't inflamed or swelling, its just normal skin with a lighter pigmentation, what can I do to bring it back to normal? Its been more than 3 months and they arent showing any sign of fading.

[Routine help] How do i stack on all this stuff?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi reddit!I need some help understanding how to apply the million products ( or not) so that they dont interfere. My skin is dry, very sensitive, with usual pimples or redness ( I dont think it qualifies as acne, just imperpections i need to keep controlled), and fine lines started appearing around my mouth and under eyes some tears ago ( im 29).So my routine is something like this:AM Just water wash in the shower. Hyaluronic serum Mosturiser with spf MakeupPM Cleanse with cream cleanser ( no surfactants) 2 days a week cream with glycolic and the rest cream with retinoidThing I would like to add or know how to combine:can I put anything before or after the retinoid cream without messing ut up? Same goes for glycolic acid, can I use both together on the same night or will be countereffective?i have a honey mosturiser I love but has no spf, can i put it above or below mosturiser with spf or will mess up the spf? Can i put it above the glycolic or retinoid cream without messing their ingredients?I hear great stuff on vit C with retinoids, when on earth do I apply it? So many steps!i also have some evening primrose oil....I really dont know when to use.So yea, I would really appreaciate if you help me sort the order ( or not) of ingredients.

[Acne] Forehead is my biggest problem area!
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Since I was a teen, now in my late 20's I have had mild/moderate acne mainly on my forehead. My forehead skin, is very different than my face skin though, my forehead has smaller pores and tighter. I do have fairly oily skin though.I used 2.5 BP on my forehead for years- worked great, but I think my skin has become a bit more sensitive and now when I use it, even twice a week, it gets dry and I get the wierdest pimples ever. So, you see some redness and feel a painful bump, no head or anything! it wont go away ever, but at the very top on the pimple, its a super super small pore that you HAVE to squeeze out and then all the pus comes out. Its not like a normal pimple that had the pus head on the top- it buried and you must extract and hurts so bad and I only get these on my forehead!so BP doesnt work anymore, I tried differin and that didnt work, tried SA that didnt work, when I useds differin and SA they would give me not breakouts perse- but just that cloggy/congested skin on my forehead. The one thing that does work is alcohol wipes. I use them every other day at night only, and they seem to keep my breakouts down. BUT isnt alcohol bad for the long term for your skin? its about 70% isopropyl alcohol.

[PSA] Honeygirl Organics and discount code
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hello everyone--first time poster and just wanted to share about a great product line I really, really like. I haven't seen any mention of it anywhere on reddit actually so here goes! Honeygirl Organics is based out of Hawaii and their products are (as the name suggests), based on honey. They've been so good for my skin--which is dry, sensitive, and somewhat acne prone. I tried it because the company sent my roommate some free samples to review for her blog and I've since repurchased their sensitive skin face and eye cream. I really just love what they're all about--simple ingredients and saving the bees! And its nice to support small business. For reference, i tend towards natural skincare and have dabbled in DIY and use the OCM frequently. I have a skincare addiction for sure, but I'm also concerned about spending smartly and like to investigate if i can make something on my own first. This company uses a lot of basic ingredients, but the end result products they sell are worth buying to me. They also have a sale going on this weekend for 20% off, and the discount code is PUMPKINS2016. Check them out! https://honeygirlorganics.com/?mc_cid=61ddc9d504&mc_eid=8649057a6f

[Skin Concerns] 18 year old male struggling with eczema.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hello r/skincareaddiction I don't know if eczema has been addressed here or not, but I have nowhere else to turn so I figured why not ask. I've dealt with eczema for several years and despite doctor trips and different lotions it has not gotten better. My specific eczema makes my skin very dry which leads to small cuts on my inner elbows and neck. I don't use anything with fragrance in it and my body wash, shampoo, and lotion are all directed towards eczema relief. It's so bad that even if my girlfriend, who does not use fragrance free stuff, lays on my chest I will soon break out. It's getting to the point where I'm losing sleep because I can't stop itching. So does anyone know any good products that will help reduce my symptoms or any other ideas to help me. Thank you.

[Skin Concerns] My partner has had a patch of clogged pores? on his chest for several years
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Pics: https://m.imgur.com/a/GXJWFMy partner is 26 years old and has had a patch of raised red bumpy skin/clogged pores (if he squeezes the area 'blackheads' will come out of the pores) on his chest for about 10 years. He gets the occasional zit on his body and face but nothing like this - he doesn't even use facial products other than moisturiser and his skin is great.Could anyone suggest treatments? Is this just clogged pores or something else?

[Routine Help] Skin has become irritated and oily since starting SCA.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I don't know if this has to do with my regimen. Could you guys review and let me know what the deal is? I'm treating my face for cystic acne in the jawline (25/M) as well as closed comedones.AM:*Biore Deep Pore Cleanser*Olay Regenerist Serum/Moisturizer*Biore Water Essence SPF 50 SunscreenPM:*Biore Deep Pore Cleanser*Paula's Choice 2% BHA*Paula's Choice AHA (every other day)*Olay Regenerist Serum*Epiduo*Nivea CreamNote: I tried Paula's Choice 2% BHA in the mornings when I first started but when my face kept getting irritated (red all over) and oily I attributed it to that. Now that I have cut it out in the morning, I still have the same irritation and oily skin. What could be causing this? I had minor oily skin (not to this extent) before starting all of these products, but now my skin is super shiny all day if I don't dab out the oil. Also what could be causing my irritation? It goes down after a few hours but it stings to put moisturizer on at night and in the morning.thanks for all the help! Skin is definitely looking better after all of this, just want to know how to keep it healthy.

[Acne] What they say about Neem oil is true!!
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I am pretty amazed right now, I bought a couple of neem oils (2 different brands) to try out because I've read some great reviews on how they can flatten pimples so effectively. I was on iHerb and figured that I need to add more stuff in order to get free shipping, so I randomly add 2 Neem oils even though I have way too many oils and serums already.First, the smell. If there was any hesitation to buy it, it's that Neem Oil is infamous for its weird smell, from the way people described their reaction I was expecting a dead rat smell or something. Luckily, turns out I don't mind it! If you often eat asian/korean food, it smells exactly like Sesame Oil, so I actually got hungry from smelling it. There is a bit of sweet rancid smell though, but I don't mind. I'd say it's 90% sesame and 10% rancid.Second, my face. This past week I got 4 active pimples, 3 on my forehead, one in my chin. I spot treat them with the Neem oil and they truly are 90% flattened out! I have never had this reaction before. I have spot-treated with Eradikate, MBadescu Drying Lotion, Tea tree oil, Oxy 10%, AHA 10%; all of them dry out the skin or further irritated it to the point of erruption, so I guess they work in a way? However this neem oil made the pain go away (the chin acne was painful) and flatten them in record time!I didn't dare to slather my whole face in it but I did put it all over my forehead last night. Some of the comedones I have there is gone! But I can't be positive it's the Neem oil since I have BHA and Mandelic Serum as well in layers before. I will further experiment.
