Sebaceous filaments all over breasts, unable to find a cause! [Acne]

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I have sebaceous filaments all over my breasts, and I need help getting rid of them. They annoy me to no end and even when I extract them, they fil back up. Some of them are actual blackheads. I have no idea what is causing them. In the other posts I found on the topic, people were only seeming to have this problem under their breasts, but I have it all over my breasts. I am overweight and I thought that maybe sweat could be a cause, but I don't sweat much on my chest and I'm an extremely hygienic person. Does anyone know the solution to this problem? If relevant medical issues are important- I have Cushing's disease, and hidradenitis suppurative (on my inner thighs).

I am only 21 years old, I get plenty of sleep, drink plenty of water, but they are still getting progressively worse. I tried eating more vegetables, cutting out sugar, and trying some supplements but nothing seems to work. I am not sure which I am dealing with, puffy eyes, eye bags, or a combination of both. Is their something I can try so I don't look like I haven't slept in 3 weeks?

[Product Question] Creating dupe for more expensive skincare using The Ordinary products? :)

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi all :) I recently been obsessed with PC Clinical 1 % Retinol, however the price is a bit crazy esp. if you want to use it daily (posted about it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/SkincareAddiction/comments/73bpvl/routine_help_more_budget_friendly_dupe_for_pc/).It seems that PC product combines retinol, peptides and Vitamin C for those great effects.Which of TO products do you think we could 'mix' (and use at the same time) to get something similar? I.e. Which TO retinol, vitamin C and peptides?I had a crazy idea of 'mixing' 1% Retinol (silicone based one) with Vit C 30% in silicone. But this is probably too crazy and could potentially damage my skin. Just liked the idea of them having the same base. What combinations do you think would be feasible?Thank you for any suggestions!

[Personal] Adderall breakouts?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi everyone, I see the amazing things you all do for peoples' skin and I'm having a problem I hope someone could help or relate to. My skin is normally fine, I have a basic routine of micellar water and a generic toner and basic moisturizer that has always worked just fine for me until.... my adderall prescription. Now I get breakouts all the time, especially on my forehead and between my eyebrows. Is there any product out there that solves this specific type of breakout? I don't think it's normal pimples, from what I read, it's like when people who take meth get that signature meth-face skin because the toxins in the drug try to push themselves out through your pores. Thanks in advance, everyone

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Dermatologist suggested laser but she said we can only do that once your active acne has gone away. It hasnt gone away in over a decade with or without medication. Currently trying gentler approach as I learn from this subreddit. But 2 years back, I started using Duac, a topical and I believe that caused me some pitted scars on both my cheeks. Is there a way to reduce them at home? what if I put tret on them and let a couple of layer of skin peel off? Or something else?Photo

[Product Question] How, exactly, does Curology work?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I just signed up for a free trial of CurologyThe Curology derm said my acne looks primarily hormonal and then prescribed me a cream with zinc pyrithione 0.25%, clindamycin 1%, and niacinamide 4%. I'm a little skeptical because every derm that's recommended me something with Clindamycin in it, it hasn't worked for my skin.Couple questions for those who have tried or currently use Curology:How long did it take you to see results? If you didn't see results, how long did you wait before telling the derm it wasn't working?Do you talk with the derm often? (Should I reply to the message with the new routine she gave me??)If the creams aren't effective, are there other options given?

[acne] For anyone struggling with low self-esteem

Beauty Tips For Body Care
There have been a lot of posts on here lately with people expressing their pain and despair due to chronic acne. I've definitely been there. My (ongoing) battle with moderate to severe acne and rolling scars covering both cheeks was one of the root causes of my low self-esteem and depression, which I'm thankfully over now. I won't pretend I'm not jealous of other people's skin or that I don't like most photos of myself, but usually, I'm able to make peace with my skin and stop it from defining my self-worth. For those of you who hate being told that you're beautiful or handsome because you can't believe it, I hope this helps.Your skin doesn't make you worthless, even if it feels like it. You're still an interesting person. You're worth knowing, you're worth loving. Acne doesn't get rid of everything that's good about you. You mean the world to someone - a family member, a friend, maybe a significant other - and that says more about you as a person than your skin ever will. You're so much more than what your acne makes you think you are, I promise.

[Before&After] 3 year before & after

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I was looking back at my old photos and found a picture from when I signed up for Curology (then Pocketderm) in August 2014. I was surprised because my skin looked way worse than I remembered. Lots of active acne (chin and forehead), sebaceous filaments, lots of PIH and indented scars, rough looking cheeks (red, uneven tone) and I want to emphasize that the before was taken a year after I discovered SCA and at least 8 months of being on a "SCA approved" routine.PhotosRoutine in the before picture: CeraVe foaming cleanser, CeraVe lotion, Paula's Choice 2% BHA, Paula's Choice 8% AHA, 0.05% tretinoin, Bioderma Photoderm SPF 30/PPD 30. I had been on this routine for at least 8 months. It was frustrating because I was doing everything "right" and my skin still looked like this. What made the biggest change for me? Curology. They put me on 0.06% tretinoin, 1% clindamycin, 6% Azelaic acid. Additionally, I was prescribed 50 mg spironolactone daily. This changed everything. My skin cleared up in about 6 weeks and continued to get more clear. I rarely break out and my skin continued to get more even. I was on this first formula until February 2017. Then I requested the anti-aging formula and was given 0.07% tretinoin, 5% Vitamin C, 4% niacinamide. In the February 2017 picture, my skin is clear, but I feel like the anti-aging formula took my skin to the next level.Current routine:morning: CeraVe hydrating cleanser, Paula's Choice skin balancing toner, Paula's Choice Vitamin C serum (every few days), CeraVe Lotion, Elta MD UV Shield, Cotz SPF 45 lip balm.night: Simple micellar water, CeraVe hydrating cleanser, serums (see below), Curology, CeraVe Skin Renewing night cream, Aquaphor for lips.Serums/treatments that I also own and use a few times a week (not sure if I'd repurchase. I cashed out my Paula's Choice rewards account which is why I have so many fancy PC products right now): PC resist omega+ complex, PC skin brightening essence, PC C15 booster, Missha Time Revolution Night Repair Science Activator Ampoule, Hada Labo Rohto Hadalabo Gokujun Hyaluronic Lotion Moist, PC 2% BHA, PC 8% AHA. These are all great products, but my core routine is listed above. These are all extras which I don't consider essential, but they do make a difference. I started most of these after February 2017. So the reason for including the February 2017 pic was to show the difference that these "extra" products made and to show the effects of the anti-aging Curology formula. Some more notes about the photos. The Aug 2014 and September 2017 were taken with the same camera. No editing in any of the photos (except the eyes, obviously!). The bright red spots are cherry angiomas (I believe) and have reduced over time. They don't bother me anymore. I wanted to crop them out but decided to leave them in.My skin is not 100% perfect but I still feel 100% happy with it. It takes time to find what works for you, and it takes time to see results.

[Acne] best moisturizer for acne prone skin?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
My skin is complicated...it rejects almost every moisturizer I have ever tried to put on it (becomes either clogged or irritated with small bumps). I only put on argan oil now bc it does miracles for my skin BUT it's not moisturizing enough at all, I need something more that won't clog my pores or irritate my skin! I've tried Cetaphil, Aveeno, Shea butter, Boots No7, TO's Hyaluronic Acid, etc. Something gentle and maybe no fragrance, with simple ingredients. My skin is dry and dehydrated, with some redness on forehead and upper cheek area. Any recommendations? And please not too expensive. I don't think generic brands such ss CeraVe, Neutrogena, etc will work for me either. I need something that won't irritate my skin--that's the main reason why I can't use most of these moisturizers.

I was wondering if any of you do this. I can't imagine washing it with my cleanser tonight because it's killing me. I'm on my second day (one day in between, that day I used clindamycin phosphate 1% and benzoyl peroxide 5% gel) and my skin is red, dry, and honestly, it doesn't even FEEL like skin right now. I do have the cetaphil gentle cleanser but I haven't used it in a while because I was worried it was causing me to break out. But really, I'll use it for tonight if it'll soothe this pain. [Personal] Tried vaseline today after cleansing. My pores look swole asf.

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Took some advice here and did my usual cleanse of a morning (I use cetaphil) as my skin is somewhat oily and followed up with a light layer of vaseline. I don't really have an established routine, I'm just experimenting.Honestly worked great I think, for the first time ever my skin had a nice shine and glow and didn't have the usual greasy look by around midday. My only concern is that the pores on my forehead, nose and especially cheeks looked huge at the end of the day compared to normal, yet my skin looked and felt great. Is this something I should be worried about or is there anything I can do to prevent it? Should I stop using vaseline?Should I use a toner after cleansing before applying vaseline?Tl;Dr: vaseline.. big pores

[Misc] Skincare and ADHD: The Space Cadet's Beauty Routine

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi y'all,I've browsed around and haven't really found anything on this topic, so I thought I'd contribute my experiences here.Things to do with health and self-care can be enormously challenging as a person with ADHD, and sometimes I find myself getting a bit blue on skincare and fitness forums - everyone seems to have their shit so together, calibrating the perfect routine and being consistent. Also, and this isn't a criticism, but I think people can come across as lecturing sometimes - especially with things like sunscreen, washing your face consistently, etc. etc. without realizing that the person they're talking to may really struggle with keeping a routine. (For example, I've seen someone downvoted pretty brutally for asking which makeup wipes were the closest to actually washing your face, and a bunch of users coming in to tell her that she should just wash her face.) So, I thought I'd make a post for people like me who are struggling with ADHD or related issues and are just aiming for something they can realistically maintain. 1. ADHD AND EXECUTIVE FUNCTIONManaging daily, routine things like skincare, dental hygiene, stretching, routine exercise, etc. are often a challenge for people on the ADHD spectrum. The big reason for this is something called executive function. Executive functions are the mental processes that enable us to plan ahead, evaluate the past, start and finish a task and manage our time. They can affect what we do in the present and also how we plan and organize for the future. These skills affect our ability to access and juggle many thinking skills at the same time. Centre for ADHD Awareness, CanadaPeople with ADHD generally struggle with executive function. A person with ADHD can often be perceived as lazy, forgetful, spacey, or just not caring about things like taking care of themselves. This is not true. The fundamental thing to understand about difficulties with executive function is that you KNOW what you should be doing, but struggle to execute the necessary actions. Executive function also covers many other ADHD symptoms like forgetting things and losing things. 2. ADHD STRATEGIES AND SKINCAREWhether you're on medication or not, there are many valuable strategies out there to help get organized and manage forgetfulness. Here are some examples and how you can apply them to your skincare routine:POSITIVE REINFORCEMENTOne of the hardest things to do when making a change is getting started. Positive reinforcements or rewards can help motivate you to become more organized. CHADD, The National Resource on ADHDFor me, I just won't do things like skincare if they're not pleasant in some way. It's worked for me to choose the things I like about skincare and focus on those - the abstract, far-off dream of better skin is just not something my brain can keep in the forefront. For example, when I pick out products, I try not to worry about which one is "the absolute best" and instead choose things that smell nice, or I like the packaging. I'm obsessed with green tea, so picking up some of the TonyMoly green tea line motivated me like never before. :DOUT OF SIGHT, OUT OF MINDStore things where you use them, and label items when you have a large stock that overwhelms. And reduce items to the essentials ADDitude MagazineKeeping your stuff in the same place and reducing clutter is a no-brainer. Visual reminders are really helpful with ADHD because every time you see something, you remember it - try not to tuck things away in drawers or boxes. Another trick I use is instead of storing all my skincare stuff in the bathroom, I just put it wherever I'm more likely to use it - at my computer, at my desk at work, etc. etc. My skincare routine has improved by leaps and bounds since I started doing things like moisturizing at my desk or washing my face in the shower - efficiency is key, make things easy on yourself!DUPLICATE YOUR STUFFMultiple charging stations. Make sure all of your devices are never short on battery life by buying plug-in chargers for the bedroom, kitchen, home office, and, of course, the car. ADDitude MagazineThis tip saved my ass for keeping my phone charged (I now have four chargers: work, home, backpack, backup) and so I started applying it to skincare too. I keep all my nicest products at my desk at work, because that's where I'm mostly likely to do skincare stuff, but I have tubes of cheap Vaseline brand moisturizer and Burt's Bees cleansing wipes in my backpack and other slightly nicer stuff at home. This way if I forget at work, I can still do at least some things when I'm out and about or back home. (As a side note, my makeup lives in a little case in my backpack permanently. I am forever forgetting to put on makeup in the morning and then realizing I have a meeting or event where I have to look more presentable, so it's great to have some concealer and mascara always handy to slap on.) 3. BE KIND TO YOURSELF, OR: PERFECT IS THE ENEMY OF GOODADHD, depression, and other mental illness is hard. Really hard. For all of you out there dealing with these challenges, you're all fuckin' SUPERHEROES for getting up each day and doing what you have to to survive. It can be so demoralizing to feel like everyone has their shit together except you. Especially for women, who not only face a different type of ADHD that isn't as well understood, but are often expected to be organized and juggling a thousand things at once. (I highly recommend this article on the subject; it's a great read.)Don't worry too much about the PERFECT routine or being consistent EVERY SINGLE DAY or the PERFECT products. Just find something that works for you that you can reasonably manage 80% of the time. If washing your face every night is too much of a hassle, use makeup wipes - it's better than no cleansing. If all you get around to is a dollop of moisturizer, it's better than no routine at all. Try not to obsess over huge HG product lists trying to find the exact right thing - just pick something you like the smell of to start, or that looks reasonable, and once you have a more established routine tweak it bit by bit.Lastly, be compassionate towards yourself - it's okay that you're just getting into skincare and your routine may be extremely basic. GOOD FOR YOU - HELL YES, you're taking care of yourself! That's awesome!! You're a badass, and even more so for overcoming obstacles on your way.I hope this is helpful to some of my ADHD peeps! There's a couple topics I wasn't able to cover here, like the effects of medication on your skin (because I personally choose not to medicate for various reasons) but please chime-in in the comments if you'd like :)

[Personal] Anyone feel like it's unfair?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I can't help but find it unfair. There are people out there that haven't ever had a problem with their skin in their life. People who don't have their insecurities exposed to everyone that sees them. People who don't spend thousands and thousands of a dollar in a hopeless search to find something that can fix them. People who don't have to give up things they love in pursuit of looking halfway decent. People's who's life doesn't revolve around their looks. Even now I am sitting here crying in self pity and the first thing I think of is if the tears are bad for my skin or not. I've already accepted I'm stuck like this and I'll probably never get a significant other but sometimes it just kills me that I am giving my all everyday to be presentable (I'd say even that's an overstatement) and someone else can look 40 times better than me with out lifting a finger. Sorry, just really needed to get this off my chest.

[Misc] Traveling with Skincare - My Giant Post on Travel/Sample Bottles

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hello everyone. I was cleaning out my travel containers that I used for my skincare and I thought you guys might be interested in my opinions on them. If not, skip on by!I've accumulated a large army of small bottles and jars, half of them are purchased (from Muji mainly), some are sample containers, and others are travel-sized bottles of skincare (mainly from this one time purchased at Sephora - Skin Wonderland). I've discovered the following:Creams, whether they're originally from a jar or a tube, are best placed in another small tube or in a jar (generally a jar). DO NOT put them in a small pump. 99% of the time, the pump straw is too small to actually have the cream travel through and depending on the size of the pump bottle, it can be a pain in the behind to clean up.ProTip: if you tried the above (like I did at first) and you've discovered that soap isn't really doing much to get rid of the cream in your small pump bottle, throw some oil cleanser in it (if you're willing to sacrifice some product!). Do the shake-shake-shake dance for a couple of minutes and then let it sit for another ten. The oil will do the soap's job.HumanGear GoToob are a great way to transport beauty products, but I find over time that they are, overall, heavier than I would prefer and the cap is a pain to clean with products like conditioner. It tends to stick to it. Also, that little suction part really don't work when the tube is filled all the way -- the entire thing becomes to heavy for it. And it takes up a lot of space, both in your toiletries bag and on the sink counter or bath tub. Lastly, dust tends to stick to the version I have (not sure if they fixed that in the new ones -- linked).I favor longer pump spout for oil cleansers as that's easier to use on the daily but makes it a bit hazardous to travel with. (See Clinique's Take the Day Off Cleansing Oil). That one was busted on me during travel, and while I was able to pop it back in place, it was leaked for the rest of the trip.Lush sample jars are quite large and appear to be leak proof (I haven't actually taken it on the airplane so I can't vouch for it). Great for creams. The Body Shop sample jar container is about a half to a third of the size of the Lush one, but still great for shorter trips. I will say that based the way the cap is, I would suggest not over packing the container with product as it will be a pain to clean later on.If you ever get the chance to stay in a Marriott and you notice Paul Mitchell shampoo/conditioner bottles in your room's bathroom, snatch those up. You may have to use your teeth to pop open the cap, but once you get them off you'll notice that the bottle has a decent size opening for creams and etc.(Have you noticed the battle I have going on with creams and etc? Lol)That travel hack where you put in some creams or bit of make up in an eye contact case is half smart and half not. It's smart because it is tiny and leak proof but it's somewhat not smart because you will loose some product that will be stuck to the grooves inside the case.I haven't totally gotten down a fool-proof way to travel with a cleansing balm. Partly because I don't really have a container big enough for it, aside from the small container of Josie Maran I have that holds 2oz/59ml. And partly because it does take up space. I'm always afraid of it melting away in my bag and somehow leaking so I usually take an liquid oil cleanser in it's place. The general rule of thumb I have with packing skincare is that nothing should be in a bottle/container larger than 1oz/28g/30mL if the trip duration is between 7 to 14 days. Obviously you have things like body-related products (lotion, soap, sunblock, etc) that would require a larger size container but for anything face-related, I generally only need to take about 1oz of whatever it is with me.I've gotten it down where I can now condense all of non-solid products, skincare and others, all into a slightly-larger-than-an-actual-quart-size-bag with a bit of room to spare. I personally find that packing up my toiletries is all part of the pre-trip excitement and cleaning isn't actually that big of a hassle at the end of the trip. Just use up all of the products post-trip, throw some soap/water or oil cleanser in the container, let it sit (generally for a few or more hours as I am a forgetful and lazy person), then rinse, then dump them in a drawer (also can be days after the rinse because, again, lazy person) afterwards. Also, not that this is important or anything but my favorite travel container is my OLEHENRIKSEN Truth Serum pump bottle. The Sephora link above shows the current version of it while I have the old version. I absolutely love that bottle for a serum and I've never had any issues with it, leaking or whatnot, at all. I wish I had like 4 more of them. I can't attest for the new one though.Let me know your thoughts, whether it's about the formatting on this post or if you have any travel-related suggestions yourself or anything really.

[Review] Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Cucumber and Green Tea

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I apologize if there is already a review for this, but I couldn't find one, and I wanted to post this for anyone who debated this facial spray like I did.Product: Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Cucumber and Green TeaPrice: $7.00 for 4 oz (I bought the 2 oz. sample size at Ulta for $5)My Skin: fair, very oily/shiny, mildly dehydrated, moderate acne, some cystic acne, lots of closed comedones, not very sensitiveHow I Use It: I keep it in my purse and whenever my face feels dirty, greasy, or just not very fresh and clean, I spray my face liberally (6 or 7 sprays) with this, let it sit for maybe ten seconds, then dab it off with toilet paper. This is especially helpful for after I eat anything greasy and imagine it's all over my face. What I Like:It makes my face feel SO FRESH AND CLEAN! I seriously feel like I just cleansed and applied a super light moisturizer. The smell lingers and is subtle but pleasant. I love the scent - it has that very light cucumber/aloe scent like a lot of products, but more herbal/lime-y/citrusy.I liked the price point. I bought a sample sized bottle, and I think it will last me at least two months for $5.00.It doesn't irritate my skin at all, and it doesn't seem to be causing any dryness or breaking out or anything. What I Dislike:I wish it were a little more "cooling" like it's advertised, but I know a lot of people like to keep facial sprays in the fridge and I've never tried this. If I am still using this next summer, I'll get a second bottle to keep in the fridge.I wish the spray nozzle was a little nicer - if it were a finer mist it would feel a lot more luxurious (but maybe the full size bottle has a different sprayer).if I use it while wearing makeup, it takes off a little mascara and foundation (I don't wear waterproof anything).it tastes DISGUSTING. If I ever use this and forget to press my lips flat together and it gets on my mouth, the taste is so nasty and bitter, and I have to scrub my lips with paper towels and water to get rid of it. Rolling my lips together solves this, though.Ingredients: Aqua (Water, Eau), Propylene Glycol, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Leaf Water, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Water, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Fucus Vesiculosus Extract, Propanediol, Polysorbate 20, Ethylhexylglycerin, Benzophenone-4, Parfum (Fragrance), Sodium Chloride, Citric Acid, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, CI 19140 (Yellow 5), CI 42090 (Blue 1), Hexyl Cinnamal, Limonene, Linalool

Hey guys, I'm not sure if this is the right subreddit to ask these questions but was hoping I'd be able to get good recommendations, routines, and advice. I recently tried shaving all over (I used to only shave above the actual labia and then trim with eyebrow scissors) but feel like I can't get a perfect completely bald and smooth shave. What are your routines? Products you use? How do you reach all the way back to where the holes are? Favorite shaving creams and favorite products to combat razor burn and those annoying red dots?

[Sun care] Fell asleep in the sun last year and the bottom halves of both legs STILL have a noticeable tan... help?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
So yeah, I fell asleep on the beach with a towel over my upper body and face, and wearing capri pants. There is a line where I was clearly exposed to the sun. I got blistering sunburn and it was extremely painful, and the skin there remains much darker than the rest of my legs more than a year later. I no longer feel comfortable wearing dresses and it just really sucks.Does anyone know of anything that would help me to get my skin back to the level of paleness it was before? The difference is so noticeable and makes people laugh and I just wanna wear dresses again. Here is a pic.

[Personal] Feeling so sad, ugly and ashamed :(

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I'm 34 and I have almost always had horrible skin from acne, blackheads, HUGE monstrous pores and I'm extremely fair skinned so it's almost invisible. You can see every ugly "blemish" (that sounds like such a cute word lol) and scar from past obsessions with sitting in front of the mirror for hours squeezing every pore until I look and feel 100% worse than I already did. I did that last night and I'm ashamed and embarassed because my entire face is ANGRY and fucked up so bad now :( I just wanted to hide in my room today and avoid anyone but my mom needs a ride and is making me go vote with her so I have to venture out into the world and wish I was invisible because I alway assume everyone that looks at me immediately judges me as ugly because of my fucked up face. Right now I'm feeling extra down and depressed but I just signed up for Curology after being fed up with disappointing products I've been using lately that I got my hopes up for thinking they'd work and I'd feel pretty again. So I'm optimistic about that, hopefully it works for me crosses fingers. Okay, done with my pathetic pity post vent. I just don't wanna talk to any of my friends about this and I love this community. Thanks for letting me cry to y'all on the interwebs.

[Personal] I've had 2 people point out my bad skin at work.

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I work retail as a cashier. I have pretty bad acne, but it's been getting steadily better the last few months. I've stopped wearing makeup most days, including when I go to work. Since I've stopped wearing makeup, I've had two people say to me "I have a product that will really help you face."It's incredibly rude and embarrassing. Both times I've ended up crying. I understand that they're trying to sell a product by picking on people's insecurities, but it's still awful to do to someone. Just a little rant/vent.A good rule to live by: don't point out people's acne/skin problems.

It's quite oily but really helps in hiding the worse of my PIE and PIH, and it's really given me more confidence to leave the house (before I was really struggling with this). Do any of you use tinted moisturisers, and if so what products would you recommmend?Personal info: 24 M, oily skin, a SkinCare Addict for three months now.

Going to university in two days, and I suddenly have a load of spots on my chin. Nothing seems to work, and I'm freaking out. [Acne]

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I'm going to university in 2 days, and over the past 5-6 days, I've been getting spots (pimples) on my chin (about 8-10), 2 on my jawline, and 5-6 on my nose (2 on the tip and 2 on each side). My routine is below, but, to give a bit of background info, I almost never touch my face during the day (even accidentally), and I don't have a girlfriend or dog or anyone that would lick or come into contact with my face. I wash my hands about 40-50 times a day (I suffer from OCD, which is why I wash them so often), and thoroughly and frequently wipe down surfaces of my computer/phone, etc., so my hands are as clean as I can get them.I drink a lot of water, eat decent food (no fatty, sugary etc. foods), lots of veg, so my diet is okay. I go on a lot of walks (nothing too intensive) after which I rinse my face with warm water and dry with a clean towel.I have eczema, but the skin on my face isn't particularly dry (it is a little bit), nor is it oily. I have also noticed recently that my scalp has started to break out (with pimples spread evenly on the top) and become irritated and a bit itchy.Does anyone know what the likely cause of this problem is, and how I can solve it quickly (or at the very least, how I can mitigate the damage)? My upper face and cheeks are fine and they look normal, but my chin looks like an explosion at a raspberry factory. It's affecting my confidence, and with university in a couple of days, it's making me even more stressed. I don't want my first impressions to be "the spotty guy". It's really annoying because it seems that I'm doing everything by the book, as far as personal hygiene is concerned. What's even worse is that some of the chin spots have coalesced into a king-sized spot, which is still big after I squeeze it (which I do very gently).RoutineIn the shower, I wash my hair with sulfate-free shampoo, then my hands with antibacterial soap, rinse the soap, then pop any spots that are really white, and then apply Freederm sensitive facial wash to my entire face. I then rinse, and apply Bull Dog face moisturiser. That's it. I do this once a day.ProblemI know it's bad to pop your spots, but I only ever pop them after my hands are clean, and when they are white and ready. I end up popping my spots 3-4 times a day (before and after which I always wash my hands).I've seen lots of advice on the internet about not popping spots, and I think, "Are you serious?" Who on earth is going to walk around with a load of whiteheads on their face? It looks terrible, and it’s embarrassing. I end up popping my spots about 3 times per day. After I pop them, I rinse them with warm water, then cold water to close my pores. I've got short and clean nails, and I'm only ever gently popping them. It may be worth noting that, after eating (and after I’ve washed my hands), I always rinse my mouth with warm water, and give it a gently dab with a clean towel to dry).Another problem: I'm seeing loads of mutually contradictory advice on the internet, and honestly, it's really overwhelming. One person's saying you must do XYZ, and another is saying you must never do X and Y. I don't know who to believe, and it's stressing me out.I don't think I use any products with sulfate in them, and I wash my hair every other day. I got my hair cut recently, and have been using Kevin Murphy Easy Rider once a day on my hair (which is short and doesn't come into contact with my face) for the past week.Over the past 3 days, I've used hydrocolloid plasters (which I've kept on overnight), but I've had no luck with them. I have 7 pillowcases and change my pillow covers every night (and wash my bedding every week).I have heard it can be stress induced, but I've been more stressed than this before and I've never had spots this bad before. I’m a thin, 21-year-old guy, with a voice slightly deeper than Mickey Mouse’s, so I don’t think it’s testosterone that’s the problem. Ideally, I'd like a longer-term solution, but for the time being, I really need a short-term fix to at least make the spots on my chin less severe/noticeable. I'm embarrassed to go out the house for more than a few hours, because I know that the spots will come back, whiter than ever, so I'd need to keep going to the toilet to check that they're not looking bad.Any advice is welcome, and I'm happy to go into more detail/answer any questions about my routine if needed. If you think pictures would help, feel free to ask, and I’ll post some. Thanks!

[Miscellaneous] Is Deciem lying to us?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Deciem's Hylamide line contains an (excellent, IMO) primer called HA Blur. As evident in both the name of the product and its description, they make a pretty big deal about the "unusual new form of Hyaluronic Acid powder" they are allegedly using. According to them, this hylauronic acid powder is the cause of the blurring effect and the real magic behind this primer. (Side note, all hyaluronic acid is powder form initially).Indeed, they really hype this up quite a bit. They go on to say:Hyaluronic Acid has never been used for this purpose before and renders HA Blur compatible with all makeup and all skin types, while the blurring effect is exceptional. So here's where things get questionable. One of the ingredients in HA Blur is methyl methacrylate/peg/ppg-4/3 methacrylate crosspolymer. Here is INCIDecoder's description for this ingredient:Little spherical shaped particles that are modified to become water-loving so that they can be easily used in water-based formulas. They enhance the product texture and have light-diffusion, aka soft-focus effect properties.I can't find any other sources that explicitly describe the purpose of this ingredient, but INCIDecoder's description is supported by both other sources on similar polymers and, perhaps more obviously, the ingredient's name.Long story short, it looks like the magic behind Hylamide HA Blur is caused by methyl methacrylate/peg/ppg-4/3 methacrylate crosspolymer rather than some miraculous new form of hyaluronic acid.I cannot say with 100% certainty that Deciem is lying about this, but it sure looks like they are, and that raises a couple of other questions. 1. Why would Deciem lie to us? and 2. What else might they be lying about?Maybe they just want to protect their trade secrets. After all, they have made a lot of legitimately good, innovative products. But is it ethical for them to lie to us in order to do so? I'm not sure. Here's what I'm more worried about.Across most of their lines (but especially NIOD) they make some pretty big claims about all their cool-sounding "complexes" and other unconventional ingredients that aren't necessarily supported by any reliable, verifiable evidence (or any evidence at all, for that matter). So that begs the question: Are they trying to lure in science enthusiasts with scientific-sounding claims that appear to be true but don't actually hold up under scrutiny? (**with some, but not all of their products)I don't hate Deciem or anything, but after making this potential discovery I just thought it would be a good thing to bring up. I would be interested to hear ScA's thoughts on this.

[Acne] 15+ years of acne and I finally discovered the cause

Beauty Tips For Body Care
So, this might be jumping the gun a bit. I often lurk here and I felt like I really needed to make an account just to let people know about a possible cause of acne who might not have thought about it yet:FUNGUSOr yeast, to be more specific. I had seen it posted often here, but it didn't click with me until I started to read this blog post.I actually found the blog post here while digging around for something else. I took the time to read it and the realization hit me like a ton of bricks.History (feel free to skip this part):I used BP for a long time when I was younger (in the form of Proactiv) and then went on birth control for a stint a few years after stopping Proactiv. During the years use of Proactiv my skin was okay but not great - steady mild to moderate acne. I had sort of given up on it as my skin continued to worsen and tried Birth Control. I had horrible reactions to BC, including developing acid reflux and IBS, so I stopped using it. It didn't seem to really change my skin very much at all, so there was no love lost. I still have the reflux and minor intestinal issues. My skin continued to worsen, sometimes I'd have bouts of clearing, generally following sun exposure. I would "manage" my lesions with stacks of hydrocolloid bandaids, which got very expensive and wasn't treating the root cause. Some Asian Beauty products seemed to improve things, but not much and only for a little while.Currently: I've recently started Differin, which seemed to help my skin texture and quality, but was only somewhat improving the acne and has instigated a bit of a purge, as it is meant to do. Over the years I noticed that my skin seemed very sensitive to specific products. It made me assume that I just had sensitive skin, but what I didn't realize is that all of this time (maybe even before BC) I had a fungal infection, and my skincare products were literally feeding it.That blog post changed my life. I went right to the store and picked up Lotrimin Ultra, Vanicream Gentle Facial Cleanser, and Head & Shoulders Shampoo (for scalp and body). I ditched my make-up and grabbed a foundation off of the "safe list" from the blog.I saw ridiculous results after one night of slathering the Lotrimin on my face - like an 80% reduction. The active lesions just smoothed out into normal skin, some pustules came to a head and ceased to be inflammatory. I was floored. The differin seems to be helping the deeper stuff come up a little bit easier, but I've only been on it a about a week or so, so I know that the Lotrimin is what is causing the dramatic reversal.Fifteen years of this shit. FIFTEEN YEARS. Please, if you have acne that has been waxing and waning, has uniform closed comedones with inflammatory pustules and lesions / seems to focus around hair follicles, and hasn't really responded to other treatment - please give that blog post a read. Or better yet, have your derm give you a test for yeast. As for me, I fully expect to get some hormonal breakouts occasionally, and some more light purging from the Differin. However, my skin is breathing a sigh of relief right now. It isn't angry anymore. I could cry! FUNGUS IS AMONG US.EDIT: Got a good question asking how a fungal infection starts: On the blog it mentions people who have used Benzoyl Peroxide for long stints of time, Birth Control, face picking (which I'm guilty of) etc. I think what happens is that you wipe out good bacteria and your natural skin barrier, and it leaves an open place for yeast/fungus to set up shop. BP and other acne treatments don't kill fungus, only bacteria.

[Review] Marula Oil

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I was starting to think that facial oils just weren't for me. I have dry skin but an oily forehead, and I first tried rosehip oil (TO's). Did a drop or two in my moisturizer, tried applying it directly to my face - either way I was greasy still in the morning. Tried jojoba (Leven Rose brand) because I heard that was better for oily skin. Same process, still oily.I gave up until I purchased DE's Nightbright kit. I wanted to give the TLC Framboos a try, and it came with Marula oil. I've tried for a few nights now - I don't wake up greasy and my skin looks and feels SO nice by morning.I'll keep using the DE Marula oil I have until I'm out, but when it's time to repurchase, I'm going to go for a much cheaper option. If you have any suggestions on brands, I'm definitely open!

[Anti-Aging] Getting Botox young- B&A and review

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Reposting with tag. Sorry, didn't know they were title tags. I wanted botox for awhile and consulted this thread as well as instagram/realself for some information. I enjoy reddit because I like hearing other peoples opinions & reading what information they have to share so I figured I would post this.I'm early 20's and decided to get botox for my forehead wrinkles & 11 lines. I kept reading that it is preventative in a sense, and I wanted them to go away. I obsess over things and they started to bother me every time I looked at them. My thoughts:First of all, botox is a good cure for bitchy resting face.My forehead is so shiny and reflects a lot of light nowMy injector told me this will also block acne & sweating in the area for the most part. Based on what I'm learning in school & some research.. I think she is right. Added perk. The wrinkles are 97% gone.I had a bit of a headache on and off a few days after my injectionsWhen I raise my eyebrows my forehead barely wrinkles, but I don't have any difficulty doing it.It only took 16 units. They were super low on special $8, but my med spa usually fluctuates from $8-$13 a unit.I will absolutely be getting it again. It's said to last 4-6 months and that the wrinkles will gradually get a bit better since the muscles can't keep contracting. I will test this out myself. It's definitely an expensive habit, but when you think about it's kind of the same as spending $30-$50 a month on a face product. That's not much in comparison to some of the things I have tried on my skin. Plus, the more I do for my skin now, the more I will thank myself when I'm older.TL;DR I got botox in my early 20's. Much worth it. Will do again.BeforeAfterBefore w tanAfter with tan

Questions about lip care and acne

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi everyone! This is my first post here, so correct me if any of my form is against protocol!I have recently been thinking about lip care (looking for best exfoliants, moisturizers, and spf), but I am acne prone around my mouth - often at the corners of my mouth, but also at the edges of my lower lip.My question is, do you guys have any recommendations for lip care products that won't make this acne any worse? Or if there are specific products I should stay away from?I have combo/oily skin, and my mouth acne is assuredly not from greasy foods or lack of hygiene.

Cured my butt acne

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I've seen several posts here asking for help with stubborn butt acne so I thought I'd share my recent success here. Previously I had tried applying benzoyl peroxide which surprisingly didn't help at all, using a 2% BHA exfoliant which helped a bit but not a lot, and using an 8% AHA exfoliant which reduced my breakouts but didn't clear it up. I also tried wearing full-coverage cotton underwear to reduce friction with my jeans but that didn't help either. What has worked for me is exfoliating 1-2x a week with the 30% AHA 2% BHA peeling liquid from The Ordinary, which helps reduce the acne scars and slough off surface debris. I think the stronger formula is more effective for body acne than the other exfoliators I was using. Then twice a day I apply 2-3 drops of diluted (about 1:10) tea tree oil to the affected area. The tea tree oil made a huge difference almost immediately, way better than the benzoyl peroxide, plus I can use it during the day without bleaching my clothes. I've only been using this routine for a couple of weeks and already the marks from old breakouts have faded and the number of new breakouts has been greatly reduced.Hope you found this helpful, please let me know if you have tried this and whether it worked for you! Or what else you have tried that has worked.

[Acne] Got a facial and the esthetician popped a pimple and now I have a scar?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
While I have plenty of issues that plague me (like very poor eyesight and dry skin), I don't normally have acne prone skin.I decided to treat myself to a facial. I looked up the place beforehand and it had great reviews. I expected extratractions, which are mostly on my nose. When I was there, my esthetician popped what I assume was a small pimple I had on my chin (I didn't even notice it) . It was moderately painful, and it's been 3 weeks since I got it and I have a dark spot (scar?) on my face from when she popped it.I'm pretty annoyed as my face is scar free as I don't really have urges to pop any pimples I do get. I don't understand why an esthetician would do this. I'm a skincare noob so I'm confused as to whether this is normal or not. To me, it doesn't really seem like something you'd expect from a $100 hour facial.

[Skin Concerns] Is stress acne real?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hey Peeps,So, lately I've been extremely stressed over the fact I'll be moving (into an apartment with my boyfriend, away from the city I love and have lived in for a long time) and I've noticed I've been breaking out really, really badly for the past 3-4 weeks.Usually my regime keeps me almost 100% clear, but lately I've found that to be impossible to achieve. New pimples surface daily, sometimes multiple....and all this is making me more stressed....So, SCA - Is stress acne a real thing? or has my face just gotten used to my regime? Can you overuse tretinoin to the point you develop a tolerance to the acne fighting effect?I take such good care of my skin (or at least try to) so this is really disheartening...Thanks in advance for any comments, hope you're all doing well...

[Product Question] Does pilling make a product less effective? My Retin A gel pills like crazy :(

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I was prescribed Retin A 0.025% gel. I apply a pea sized amount and it seems to dry right away but I wait 15-20 minutes before applying Cerave mouistizing lotion. As I rub it in it turns chunky, almost snot consistency. I've never had a problem with this lotion before. I've tried putting less lotion on but it hasn't made a difference. I never tried the mouistizing cream, would be a better alternative because it's less watery? And does the pilling make the retin a less effective? It feels like it comes off my face when it pills.

I’m tired.Tired of waking up and seeing a red tomato of a face.Tired of spending precious time each sleep deprived morning trying to hide the fact that my skin is a war zone.Tired of finishing my makeup, realizing that it will always look cakey and dry, and then being forced to accept it.Tired of getting anxious in the rain that my face might get wet.Tired of getting anxious in the sun that I might get new scars to my already wayy too large collection.Tired of realizing that I know more about skin than 99% of the people around me, yet their “just drink water” advice is taken more seriously than what I have to say because they won the genetic lottery.Tired of my mom asking me each day if my routine is working yet, because the answer is almost always no.I’m trying and I’m waiting and I’m telling myself to love who I am no matter what, but that all takes willpower. So so much willpower. I feel like I’m running out of it and it’s exhausting. I just wanna be normal.

[Review] This sub had me convinced I should trade in Pixi Glow Tonic for something stronger

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Pixi Glow Tonic was definitely my SCA gateway drug. I was amazed with how smooth my skin was when I started using it, and how much better my pores looked (I later learned here that those things were sebaceous filaments, not really "pores"). Then I started getting more skincare obsessed and became convinced that Glow Tonic wasn't as good as stronger or better acids would be. I've used Nip+Fab Extreme Pads. Pixi's glycolic serum. Pixi's Peel Pads. The Ordinary's Lactic Acid 5%. And Mad Hippie Exfoliating Serum. And you know what? Not a single one has made my skin as smooth and happy as good old Glow Tonic. I'm sorry, Glow Tonic. I will never again forsake you. 6 months of experimenting and I am back in the arms of Pixi glow Tonic. Just two weeks back into using it and my forehead is already less bumpy and my skin is looking smooth and happy.

I think I've had a fungal infection around my nose for 15+ years (thinking it was just acne-related) -- and I think I just found the cause/solution! [acne]

Beauty Tips For Body Care
So I'm currently so pleased with the results of my latest skin experimentation that I decided to create an account just for this in case anyone else has suffered like I did:About me: ~30 year old female, natural blonde with very pale skin, very easily sunburned/prone to redness, incredibly sensitive skin (never met anyone with more sensitive skin than me - eg. I can have contact dermatitis from a bandaid that last for weeks-to-months after it's been removed). Struggled with acne for most of my life.Backstory: Back in middle school, I started to get mild acne, which I treated with benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid, causing dryness and irritation around the creases of my nose. My acne progressed to severe acne in high school, so add more topical prescriptions, oral meds, and other remedies, causing the skin around my nose became even more irritated, white-head filled, and prone to breaking out. By the time I finished college/mid-20s, I had figured out how to get my skin mostly under control (including differin gel, clindamycin lotion, birth control pills, spironolactone, no dairy, very careful with pillow cases/sheets/towels, lots of water and exercise, etc etc), but the skin around my nose was never happy/still as bad as it was since middle school. I had resigned myself to the fate of having bad skin around my nose for life (nothing I did ever made it better (including trying nothing to let my skin be less irritated) and no dermatologist ever suggested anything that helped).Cue to now: I started swimming laps in a local pool for exercise but had to stop after a couple months because my skin was reacting so poorly to the water, breaking out in places and ways that I had never experienced and was resistant to all my usual acne treatments. I was pretty devastated as I had worked so, so hard to have clear skin and now I had lost all control. It's been a couple months since I stopped swimming and the little bumps all over my arms and neck have gone away but the skin on my face is still very unhappy. Half of my face was breaking out in a way that looked very weird to me and nothing I did helped (topical acne Rx, OTC acne meds, etc). Seemed like some sort of rash or infection maybe? The possible cause and remedy: I started to suspect maybe I had a fungal infection and read that fungal infections can look like bacterial acne. So I decided to try anti-fungal shampoos on my face (which was a giant leap for a person with such sensitive skin, but I was desperate and the time to see a dermatologist will be forever with my health insurance), trying Head and Shoulders (Pyrithione Zinc) and Nizoral (ketoconazole). Within 2 days, the skin around my nose looks like it did before I ever got acne! It looks like a normal person's skin around their nose. So now I'm thinking I had some sort of fungal infection around my nose all this time and just needed an anti-fungal to clear it up. The rest of my skin is improving but hasn't been long enough to come to any conclusions yet (but I am thinking the rest of my face might be fungal too).TL/DR: Had red/irritated/white-heads-filled-pores/acne prone skin around the creases of my nose for 15+ years, none of my acne treatments ever worked. Tried Head and Shoulders (Pyrithione Zinc) and Nizoral (ketoconazole) and magically my skin around my nose looks amazing. Perhaps I had fungal infection there all along.

[skin concerns]Have been seeing a lot of posts about Soft water Vs Hard water and relation to acne . This will clear things up for people.

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Many of you have probably noticed that when changing city's or countries the water feels different and skin also reacts differently.HARD WATERHard water is what most us have, it contains a concentrated amount of minerals(mostly calcium )which leaves deposits behind. You will know that you have hard water when there is calcium deposits in the shower. That same deposit end up on hair and of course on your skin. This is where acne comes in since these deposits clog pores. Hard water makes hair feel more brittle and seems like there is always something in it. This is also why some have great sucess with no poo and others do. No poo with hard water is pretty much impossible.SOFT WATERIf you have ever showered with soft water it feels silky soft other people may describe it as slimy , some who are not used to it might also feel like their soap is not rinsing off when in fact it is quite the opposite. You are simply feeling your skin and hair with no mineral deposits but are used to the squeaky clean hard water feeling. Personally my hair become feathery soft when showering is soft water and so does my skin. My skin never needs moisturizer and it is Insanely soft.Soft water has none or a very low amount of minerals which means your skin is free of mineral deposits which makes it extremely soft and acne goes away VERY fast in my experience.HOW TO GET SOFT WATERMany people here will advise to get a showerhead filter. Shower head filter remove chlorine and other impurites but NOT hard water despite what they will advertise. To remove hard water (this is a simplified description) an ion exchange- chemical reaction must happen hence why you need a water softener and not a shower head filter. Water softeners and shower head filters are two completely different things. Obviously people will try to buy the showerhead filters since they are very cheap and water softeners are quite expensive. Shower head filters can help if your skin is sensitive to other impurities but will do absolutely nothing to soften water. If buying a water softener is not and option two things that have helped me is making sure my skin is well dried with a towel after showering. By air drying with hard water your leave much more mineral deposits on skin. The same way air drying your dishes leave streaks on skin. Take your time a towel dry yourself well to prevent the hard water from drying on your skin. The second thing once can do is rinse with distilled water but this can become a hassle after a while.Water softener are expensive but they are magical on skin and can be a great long term investmemt for your skin.

[Product Question] Rosehip Oil or Marula Oil?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
HiI am going to make a big purchase of The Ordinary. I'd read here that Alpha Lipoic Acid is a very good anti-oxidant, only it is much stronger than Vitaminc , and reviews of this one tend to be bipolar. Although someone onces said it can be counter-balanced by an oil. So now I've come to these two oil options: one is rosehip, and the other is marula. Both are said to have excellent anti-oxidant effects. Besides, winter is coming and I need a good moisturiser. So can anyone put some insights on them?If it helps, I am a bit acne-prone.Thank you.

[routine help] should i NOT use retinoids/retinol?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
i'm 34, with pale but generally clear and compliant skin except for winter dryness, and until a few months ago had never really done any kind of skincare stuff except for putting on olive oil or coconut oil in the winter. recently tho i began noticing fine lines on my forehead & elsewhere. this forum has been amazingly helpful and generous, and i'm finally using sunscreen regularly and experimenting with serums.i just added the 2% retinoids from TO a few days ago, and it's messing with my face a bit, which i guess is to be expected initially-- sensitive dry patches on my cheeks and a kind of oily bumpy forehead situation, lines look more pronounced. i've read so much about it but there are still questions i can't find answers to that maybe you all will know:-should i even be using retinoids if my only issue is fine lines, no acne or other texture or pigmentation issues? like is gentler better, in your opinion?-do i have to keep using retinoids regularly forever or can i stop once the effect i want is achieved? it slightly freaks me out how powerful they are!i get that retinoids/retinol helps skin regenerate itself, exfoliate and eventually become thicker as well, and i have some questions/concerns about that too. when i look at retinoids before& after pics, the after pics look smooth and bright and beautiful but also kind of ... waxy? like maybe the thickened skin is producing that effect? or maybe i'm imagining it. it's obviously a powerful and useful ally for many situations, but i'm wondering if at this stage in my wrinkly journey it's overkill that will alter and age my face in other ways. i'm pale and my skin is generally kind of thin/translucent looking and i like my freckles, and until recently i literally put nothing on my face ever, i hardly even washed it with water and never really had issues. i don't wanna look prematurely opaque and waxy. even tho i think it looks nice on other people and someday i am totally going to want to that as an alternative to inevitable wrinkles. is this an effect/concern that anyone has noticed or am i off base here?thank you so much for any thoughts you can offer!the rest of my routine:hylamide subq anti-age and eyes serums in the morning, followed by another serum (i just recently added, on alternating days, TO EUK134 and, on the other days, resveratrol+ferulic acid and the 20%vitamin c & vitamin F oily serum they have-- maybe this is all overkill that is stressing my face out too?) followed by combination physical/chemical sunscreenand at night i just use micellar water to remove eye makeup, then sometimes an eye serum & castor oil on my lips & eyebrows, plus the 2% retinoids from TO(edited for typos and clarity)

[Skin concerns] I get some pretty bad razor burn and ingrown hairs when shaving, how do prevent/care for that?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
First off, I have tried practically everything to stop the issue: exfoliating before shaving, exfoliating after shaving, keeping skin hydrated, only one swipe against the grain, using a safety razor (that has helped a bit), using an aspirin solution, making sure I use a good shave cream, hot shower to loosen up the hair, loose fitting clothes to prevent irritation, etc.Regardless, I get razor burn, bumps, and ingrown hairs. It's generally on on my body, but my neck and face get pretty irritated when they are shaved. Not to mention I have combination skin on my face...Any tips would be great. I plan to try waxing next, considering it might make my hair less course over time.I am a 21 year old male, for reference.

[skin concerns] Miracle Product for my Dermatitis

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Quick disclaimer: I am in no way working for this company. I'm just a normal guy living in Korea and found a product recently that helped me significantly. Let me give you some background. I'd say for at least a decade I've had mild dermatitis, though it got worse when I moved to Korea four years ago. I basically have two symptoms: My skin can get red and blotchy, and I get lots of flakes and dry skin around the beard and mustache area. The only thing that really treats it is a topical steroid, which I've been more and more paranoid about. I would have a flare up maybe 2-3 times a month on average. Recently I started doing two different things. I started using a shower filter, and I tried a new face wash. The face wash is the Neogen green tea cleanser stick (the one that looks like a push pop). I did not try the foam cleanser because foam cleansers have always seemed to cause flare ups for me in the past. Anyway, all I can say is that I've never experienced anything like this. For several months I've had no visible symptoms of dermatitis. It feels incredible to not have to use any steroids. I'm so happy with this product that I just thought I'd suggest it because if it helps anyone else that would be great. I would honestly pay whatever they wanted just because nothing has ever helped me like this has. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!

[Product Question] A couple of questions about Benton Snail Bee high content essence and lotion

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hello lovely folks. After a recent bout of perioral dermatitis which started due to a reaction to glycolic acid (glares at Nip+Fab pads) I'm considering sloooowly reintroducing a skincare routine to help me deal with the plethora of marks and redness left by the spots. I've been reading reviews of the Benton snail bee high content essence and lotion and I have a few questions. First of all, is there a difference between the essence and lotion? Second of all, is there any issues with snail filtrate if your skin can't handle glycolic acid? Third would one of these be moisturising enough on it's own without an additional moisturiser? My skin is oily, acne-prone, slightly dehydrated but not too bad. No wrinkles as such. Possible rosacea (recently started flushing, awaiting derm appointment). Most importantly, did you find it worked?? Thanks :)
