Beauty Tips For Body Care
So there are literally hundreds of these pus filled pores on my face, and for the life of me I cannot figure out what they are, or how to treat them. They are especially dense/numerous in the areas surrounding my mouth, but they also run along my jawline, and even on my neck. IMAGES Description:-They are not closed comedones. They are essentially open, and can be drained with no breakage of the skin if I squeeze them.-If they are squeezed they eventually fill back up.-These are under the skin and do not surface or turn into whiteheads.-They do not get enlarged or turn red – they remain dormant.-White, stringy consistency. Things I’ve tried:-Benzoyl Peroxide - Has virtually 0 effect.-BHA 2% - Causes me to purge like crazy. The pustules get red and agitated then rise to the surface, where they eventually pop. They eventually refill, however, rendering the treatment useless.-AHA – Used in conjunction with the BHAI’ve also tried tons of different gentle moisturizers without alcohols and fats. If anyone has dealt with acne that looked or behaved similarly to the kind I am dealing with, I would love to hear what has worked for you. Any other help/recommendations would also be greatly appreciated.

[Sun Care] How to tan as safely as possible as a pale dude?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I'm a pretty pale guy who would like to try to tan a little for the sake of feeling better about myself. I know I can tan, as I've done it unintentionally before, so I'm just looking for information on how to do it as safely as possible. I recognize that tanning will damage my skin, but I'm just looking to get a little darker and I'm only looking to minimize this damage.Any suggestions? This post gave some helpful information, but it's difficult to find products that include a tan enhancer and contain the low SPF and high PPD mentioned.Edit: I appreciate the passionate responses but only two or three people actually gave me legitimate information based on the question I was asking. I'm also pretty glad I used a throwaway to ask this question, because I'm getting an unsurprising amount of downvotes. The moral of this story is to never come to this sub for information, I guess.

[Anti-Aging] I'm only 18 but I want to do everything in my power to avoid wrinkles as I age. Any tips?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
First of all, I realize how bratty I may seem with this post. I know 18 is young, and I should be enjoying these years while I can. But I've struggled all my life with acne, and now that I've finally overcome that, my self esteem has been at an all time high and I feel like I've looked the best I have in all my life. One thing that's keeping me kind of down is my fear of wrinkles. I know they're natural, everyone gets them, I know all that. But I'm wondering what I can do in order to prevent them, because with my understanding, preventing them is way easier than getting rid of them. Here is my current routine:AM: * Aveeno ultra calm foaming cleanser * 100% rose water as a toner (I'm going to switch to an AHA toner ASAP) * Mad hippie vitamin C serum * Neutrogena oil free moisturizer, SPF 35 * Palmer's eventone sunscreen, SPF 30 PM: * Aveeno ultra calm foaming cleanser * Shea Moisture African black soap clarifying mud mask * 100% rose water as a toner * Clinique dramatically different moisturizing gel * Clinique all about eyes rich (for my dark circles) * Tretinoin 0.025% cream (for my acne scars)Also, I'm mostly concerned about wrinkles around the corners of my eyes and my smile lines. So my question is, what else can I do to prevent wrinkles? I feel bad even posting this, I feel really superficial and I promise I'm not, it's just more of a confidence/insecurity thing.TLDR; besides the basics, I'm currently using sunscreen, moisturizer, dark circle cream, a vitamin C serum, and tretinoin 0.025%. what else can I do to prevent wrinkles?

[Acne] Nothing seems to get rid of little bumps around mouth
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I have these little white bumps at the corners of my mouth, and nothing seems to get rid of them except (eek!) extracting. When I do give in and extract, they come out as suuuuuper long really thin white strings almost. I'm not really sure what they are. I've had them for as long as I can remember, so it's not a reaction to any products or anything like that.Current Routine: AM: Rinse with water, CereVe in the tub PM: Cetaphil wash, CereVe in the tub1-2x/week: Alpha Hydrox AHA swipes

[Routine Help] New to SCA and new routine! Looking for some assistance with the correct order for using retinoids, moisturizers, and BHAs!
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi all! I'm fairly new to SCA, and after seeing so many posts about people completely changing their skin condition, I decided it was time for me to do the same.I don't currently have horrible acne, but a minimum of 3 new big red pimples a day is enough to for me to want to start improving my routine. I am a 26-year-old male and had pretty bad acne during puberty which has since subsided to some degree, but not fully gone. I have super oily skin, have a pretty good diet, and get regular exercise. I won't go over my old routine, but I'm looking to get some feedback and clarifications on my new routine. It is as follows:AM: - Shower and wash face with Cetaphil - Moisturize with Cerave AMPM: - Shower and wash face with Cetaphil - Retin-A - Moisturize with Cerave PMNow, I have a couple of questions about my new routine:-How long after applying the Retin-A (or should I be doing it before?) should I wait before applying the Cerave PM?-In the afternoon, after work usually, I come home with pretty oily skin. How and what should I use to clean? I've heard of the Stridex wipes, but I'm in Canada, so I can't go buy them immediately. I can order online I'm told, but even if I ordered them, would I use them, and reapply moisturizer? Or just use one, and wait until the evening when I can shower and wash my face, and reapply the moisturizer? Basically, if I exercise or something throughout the day, what midday routine can I adopt to tide me over until my regular evening routine?-Finally, I have some of the oil wipe pads to just remove some of the excess oil off my face, are these recommended? Thanks in advance for the help!

[ACNE] Any advice/remedy for breakouts happening after kissing my boyfriend?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
He has permanent 5 o'clock shadow, and sometimes grows a beard. When it's long enough to be soft, there's no issues. But when it's short and stubbled any kind of lingering kissing gives me pimples on my chin. I don't normally breakout so this is new for me. I'm currently washing my face with the CeraVe hydrating cleanser. Any advice for me? Or maybe products I can use? Or he can use for that matter haha.

[Acne] Glycolic and Salicylic acid at the same time?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hey all -- long time lurker but have recently become much more vigilant about my skin and have been following this subreddit almost religiously.I've had severe acne since I was 12 with occasional periods of moderate acne. The past few months have been pretty severe, and on top of the 13 years of living with acne , I've got a lot of hyper pigmentation which makes me look like I have a spotty, red beard -_- It's bad.I've gotten the new breakouts almost under control with Salicylic acid, but the spots look worse than the new pimples. It looks like glycolic acid is the Holy Grail for hyper pigmentation, but can I use it on top of the Salicylic? I've never used it before and it makes me a little nervous...

This is the Derma E product. It has some pretty good reviews online, but also those who say it did nothing for them. I'm very thin, fair-skinned and have a lot of spider veins on my body. I'm not thinking about getting them lasered as I have heard from many people it comes back, I want to try something else before spending so much money on laser.Anyone has any experience with this product or any other product to reduce the look of spider veins?

[Anti-Aging] I have wrinkles. I'm 20, and have an oily complexion. What can I do?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
My skin is very oily on my forehead, nose, and chin, and depending on if I wash my face once a day, it can get very oily on my cheeks. Currently the oil is being overproduced and I'm using tissues and basically anything to blot the oil from all over my face.I know almost literally nothing about skin care except the fact that sunscreen helps against aging, even if it's cloudy. That's all I know. Please help!If there are any products that you suggest, please have them be cheap/affordable since I don't have a lot of money :( I'm currently in South Korea, but I live in America and will be going back in August.Edit: Like I said, I'm a full beginner, so please explain any/all abbreviations/other things that a newbie might not understand. Thanks so much!

[Review] Hylamide Booster C25 and NIOD Non-Acid Acid Precursor (Deciem)
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi guys! I'm a Begounite who recently decided to try out the Canadian Deciem's products due to the CAD$'s slow slide from parity to oblivion. I noticed Deciem (umbrella company for the brands NIOD and Hylamide, among others) doesn't get a lot of attention here so I thought it would be nice to give my thoughts!Things to keep in mind:This is more of a 'first impressions' review as I only made the switch 2 weeks ago.My skin is very acclimated to retinol, acids, vit. C, niacinamide, etc.I dropped PC's Retinol Serum, BHA 2% Treatment, and Vit. C Serum and added the two products mentioned in the title. On to the mini-reviews of said products:NAAP- This is a peptide-based exfolianty-serum thing. It features two peptides (Hexanoyl Dipeptide-3 Norleucine Acetate, Myristoyl Nonapeptide-3) and "amino isolates" that apparently have effects similar to retinol and acids, sans irritation. Otherwise, it also features yeast extract and Lactococcus Ferment Lysate, plus the usual suspects like glycerin and several preservatives (NIOD's products are not for the anti-chemical among us). I researched most of the ingredients and didn't find anything that would give PB a heart attack, but I may have missed something. Its consistency is that of a very thin, watery lotion and it comes in an (annoying to use) dropper. The first time I used it I felt a tiny tingle, but otherwise it feels very pleasant on the skin. My first first impression was that it has some serious softening / brightening effects, and two weeks on I generally still feel the same way. Considering I have been using Vit C and retinol for half a year, I'm a bit impressed that I still saw an effect. Nothing ridiculous, but it's there. I saw a tiny bit of flaking / dryness the first couple days, but it resolved itself quickly.PC's Retinol serum and BHA was a huge boon for my (now inactive) acne, so I was worried I may see a resurgence after abandoning the products. I'm happy to report that no pimples have appeared!Booster C25 - I'mma post the ingredients since there's only four: ethoxydiglycol, ethyl ascorbic acid, hydroxyphenoxy propionic acid, phenylethyl resorcinol.First is a solvent, second is a stabilized form of ascorbic acid, and the last two are skin lighteners. From what I can tell, the ingredient list doesn't seem to have a huge amount of research behind it. PB says the two lighteners don't have research backing them up, though they are used in other brightening skincare products. The research from Ethyl Ascorbic Acid seems to come mainly from its manufacturer, so... I basically said what the hell, let's give it a go!My first impression of it was "ugh, dry oils". It comes in a (less-annoying) dropper and is a clear liquid with the consistency of a dry oil. Which I dislike, but I lived.I know vit C generally has effects that show up over the long-term, but I definitely wouldn't say this has had any negative effects on my skin. It's not as elegantly formulated as PC's serum, but taking into account the exchange rate it's approx $20 cheaper. My red spots' fading has seemed a bit accelerated lately though.TLDR: So far, I've found Deciem offers products with interesting formulations that generally do what they claim. Maybe not for purists, but they're a good option for Canadians who are hurting from the exchange rate and/or SC addicts who want to try something new.

Need help deciding on a Walmart AHA/BHA for closed comedomes [Acne]
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I have so many of what I think are closed comedomes on both cheeks. I get breakouts here too but recently I've noticed tons of small colorless bumps that don't hurt and are super visible in the light. I have some on my forehead too.I can't see a derm until December as I don't have insurance where I currently am but I was wondering what I could use in the mean time. I have seen that AHA or BHA's help with closed comedomes but I'm not sure what to get. (Is it AHA or BHA? Still confused)It should be something I can order online from Walmart because right now that is all I can get to. I also saw that retinoid products help with this but most can only be prescribed so I can get that in December but are there some that can be bought?I'm scared of trying many things because I don't want to break out more but I really want to clear my cheeks of these bumps because it looks horrible even under makeup. :(((Thank you for your help!!

[Product Question] What's going on with the 14% AHA swipes on Amazon?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
This is what I'm talking about. I've been able to buy these from Amazon for $14-$16. Now all I can find is these super expensive ones. Does anyone know where I can get these for a cheaper price? I really like these, but I suppose I can use something similar. Can anyone reccommend anything similar? All I've found are wipes with much less AHA than 14%.

[Selfie] Great skin days with vitamin c and water!
Beauty Tips For Body Care
http://imgur.com/IViD4eaI added a vitamin c serum to my routine two weeks ago and I've started drinking lots of water. I've never had serious problems with my skin but it's always looked a bit dull and unhealthy because of junk food and lack of proper skincare, up until around february when I started caring. I'm not sure if it's the serum or the recent increase of water that's working, or maybe both, but I'm definitely into it. My skin tone is evening out and I look healthier, not quite as gray-ish. A couple of little sun-damaged spots on my nose are fading away. I don't have a Before picture but trust me I can see a huge difference in the mirror, specially under natural daylight, which used to be my worst enemy. Such a nice change in so little time!Routine AM: Splash with water, Neutrogena Oil-free moisture, Vichy Ideal Soleil FPS 50 suncreen, make up.Routine PM: Ponds Dual Makeup Remover, Neutrogena ultra gentle cleanser, Idraet Vitamin C Serum, Ponds Biohydratant cream.I replace the Neutrogena cleanser with Vichy's deep cleansing gel on weekends. And lots of water. Water everywhere.

[Sun Care] Avene, Bioderma sunscreens (French versions)
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I'm going to France soon (from the US) and am trying to pick sunscreens to buy there (I like to be prepared, haha). I'd really like to take advantage of the better UVA chemical filters (not sure how they compare to zinc oxide) and am stuck between a few:Bioderma Photoderm MAX Ultra-fluide SPF 50+ Bioderma Photoderm MAX Aquafluide SPF 50+ Bioderma Photoderm SENSITIVE SPF 50+ Avene CRÈME SPF 50+ Avene Emulsion SPF 50 +Has anyone used any of these? How did you like them? Do you have any others to recommend? I'd consider LPR but am worried about the alcohol in it. I have oily, acne-prone skin (sometimes dry and irritated). I've heard the Bioderma can make your face shiny so am worried about that. Thanks!

[Personal] Any cringe-worthy comments on your skin?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Today I went for the first time out and about without foundation in almost two years. My skin is finally clearing up enough to where I feel confident, however I had a medium sized pimple on my upper lip. My friend felt the need to ask me if I had been washing my face. Yikes. Too bad more people don't know to never comment on someone's face unsolicited, considering that wasn't the first time.Any moments like that with you guys?

[Routine help] Male in Canada need advice on what to buy and use.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hello All,A few months ago I decided to do something about my skin and the pores on my face (at least I think they are pores!)My current routine is neutrogena daily cleanser followed by a toner in the morning and then I apply moisturizer with spf. Evening I use the cleanser again with a neutrogena exfolient then moisturizer. I haven't seen really any noticeable changes on my face. I see I should be using a chemical exfolient. Now my questions are, I want to reduce the size of my pores and the redness on my skin but I went to 2 drug stores and couldn't find a chemical exfolient. I would say my skin is medium oily. Where would I find the right product and what would I use?Sorry I'm a complete noob to this Picture of skin http://imgur.com/a/2dRqE

[Skin Concerns] Popped white cyst-like growth on my labia majora.. concerned with appearance, don't want it to scar.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I was unable to pop this white cyst-like growth on my labia majora.. so I stuck a needle into it and then I very aggressively squeezed out a mixture of pus and blood. In the 48 hours since then I've been using hot compresses and nexcare bandages which removed all the pus, as well as making sure to not wear any underwear or clothing that could irritate the area. Here are the pics.. first pic is now and the second is right after I squeezed everything out. I'm concerned about the really red appearance right now. I don't want a scar there.. any tips would be greatly appreciated!Edit: Forgot to ask, how long should I wait before shaving in that region again?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Picture: http://i.imgur.com/f6RWRkq.jpgI'm Caucasian, my skin type is usually dry.For as long as I can remember I've had these small bumps on my forehead. They're not regular pimples, they don't hurt, they barely disappear over time if at all - HOWEVER if I manage to squeeze them with my nails some white stuff will come out.I've also noticed that if I do squeeze them they'll turn smaller but then into regular big pimples like 2 days later. They're a huge confidence destroyer, please help!

[Skin Concerns] Peeling off lips... Is this exfoliative cheilitis? Does anyone else have it?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
http://imgur.com/BcZli8zFor a few years now, my lips have been like this, with dry, hardened patches of skin, and constantly peeling off. I thought this was because I was always biting them in order to take off the skin, and that if I left them alone they would go back to normal. However, even after a few days of not biting and just applying ointment creams, they don't look any better.I researched and found out about exfoliative cheilitis. Does anyone else have it and if so, does it look like this? What do you do to alleviate it?P.S.: I can't believe that on top of my terrible acne I have yet another skin condition to deal with. Yay! #blessedP.S.2: Sorry for the disgusting picture.

Here is the link to most of the stuff. Not everything is showing up there for some reason, so if there's a specific item you like and want to know if it has any deal, I'd just search for that specific one! Some deals are really good, like their resurfacing laser-free products. I got a bunch of the face serum, eye serum and face scrub! Also grabbed some peel pads and the nighttime retinol stuff! Oh, also there's a GWP that expires tomorrow. It automatically gets added to your purchase and you will see it in the final stages of your order/in your confirmation email.Let me know what you end up grabbing!

[product question][review] anyone try the new paulas choice 10% niacinamide booster yet? here's some of my thoughts...
Beauty Tips For Body Care
just curious what people think about it so far! i ordered it a few weeks ago with the help of some reward points i had. haven't tried any new PC products in a while, but thought this one could be a good help to my skin: sensitive, prone to dryness/small breakouts, and has some pinkness (probably some damage from past sun exposure and general skin concerns) and freckles i'd like to fade.it's only been a week or so, but i like it so far. most noticeably, it seems to really help keep my skin hydrated, causing a slight plumping/bouncy effect compared to usual. i think it also has a calming effect, as some of my temporary redness is reduced, resulting in a brightening effect. I'm hoping it will permanently reduce some of my pinkness and freckles over time. but for now my skin is overall just softer and calmer. looking forward to seeing how it goes over the next few weeks!edit: forgot to add, one thing i also noticed is that i think it made me sweat a lot more at the gym haha. so i might try to avoid it during daytime use when i know ill be stopping for a workout. in case thats helpful for anyone

[Cringe] What do you do in your skincare routine that would make this sub cringe?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I know that I can't be alone in doing things to my skin that this sub would cringe at. Or at least, I'm hoping I'm not. So I'd like to hear your confessions - whether you're ashamed of them, or you're proud of the stuff you do that you know others here would advise against.Personally, physical exfoliation changed my skin sooo much for the better and I just can't do without it - even now that I'm adding some chemical exfoliants into my routine. Also, my favourite cleanser is full of SLS. I'm too lazy and cheap to bring myself to change it when it works alright for me, and it's only on my face for less than 2 minutes a day. What about you guys?

[Skin Concern] Red bumps on the side of my hips
Beauty Tips For Body Care
So i've had occasional butt acne but never anything major. However, yesterday i noticed a lot of red bumps on the side of both of my hips going down my thighs a bit. Also, there are one or two bumps on the underside of my butt. Here's pictures for reference (nsfw i guess): http://imgur.com/a/JAqfL . Anyways, it's making me very self conscious and i'm curious if anyone has any ideas what they might be and/or how to get rid of them. Right now i'm wearing loose shorts, putting AmLactin on, and also using Desitin cream.

[Product Question] Tea Tree Oil - can you apply it directly to the skin? Looking for research.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi, ScA! So I've been reading a lot on this sub, and every time someone mentions using tea tree oil, they mention diluting it. I had previously been applying tea tree oil as a spot treatment to active pimples (before I had read about needing to dilute it), with no troubles or irritation at all - and it was very effective (reduced swelling and redness immensely).I've been trying to look around online for some information regarding whether or not it is necessary to dilute it, and I've really not seen anything. Some sites just say dilute it, no explanation why. Some don't mention anything. The closest thing I've found to a "reliable source" has been WebMD, which states:"Experts consider tea tree oil to be safe as a topical treatment, and you can apply it directly to the skin on a daily basis. When applied to the skin in its pure (100% oil) form, tea tree oil seldom causes irritation. But some people develop an allergic rash (contact dermatitis). If you are concerned that you might develop a rash, try the oil first on a small area of skin. You can also dilute tea tree oil with vegetable, olive, or almond oil."So. Because I've had no irritation or problems with directly applying it to the skin, I'm wondering if anyone has any researched information explaining why the oil must be diluted? I'm wondering if there is some long term issue that could arise, or unseen damage I'm doing. Because if it is safe, I will continue doing so - as it's been so effective for me. Thanks!!

[Acne] Feel hopeless.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
http://imgur.com/a/AMOSy Current Routine: Wash at night with spectro gel, use a peroxide gel, tone and moisturise. I don't think it will scar, its not cystic. It appears really red all the time and my skin gets really oliy and when it's not oily it feels really raw, red and dry even. I am on some antibiotics (not acuntane) and they haven't done much, I have been on them for just over a month. My acne has never been this bad in my life, I am 16 so maybe it is hormones. I eat healthy and drink lots of water too... :(

[ROUTINE HELP] Looking for feedback/answers after reading lots of SCA and making my personal skin care routine...
Beauty Tips For Body Care
First, THANK YOU to SCA and all the wonderful resources in the wiki and sidebar. I have learned so much!!I'd like some feedback on my current routine, and answers to a few questions I have (at bottom of post)... MY CURRENT ROUTINE:MORNINGrinse with warm waterapply vitamin C serum - Timeless Skin Care 20% Vitamin C + E Ferulic Acid Serumapply sunscreen - Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence SPF 50+ PA+++apply makeupAS NEEDED THROUGHOUT DAYapply sunscreen - various kinds, all SPF 50 or moreNIGHToil cleansing method - straight up coconut oil, DIY mix of olive oil and cromollient SCE, or Palmer’s Cleansing Oil, all of which my skin likes (no breakouts)apply vitamin C serum - Timeless Skin Care 20% Vitamin C + E Ferulic Acid Serumapply moisturizer - Cerave Moisturizing Cream (Cerave in the tub)wait ~20 minutes (per Curology instructions not to have wet skin)apply Curology serum (0.035% tretinoin / 5% vitamin C / 4% niacinamide) So my questions are…Should I add anything else? Is anything wrong? I am primarily looking to battle hyperpigmentation from Melasma. Additionally, I’d like to correct and prevent wrinkles and aging skin (I’m currently in my mid-30s).Should I increase my tretinoin? I don’t experience any dryness, redness, or other side effects at this point. Some products I’ve been tempted by include Holy Snails! Shark Sauce and adding a hydroquinone cream, which I have done in the past but I wasn’t sure if it’s okay/safe to use continuously.

[Skin Concerns] My face always feel tight, but not dry. What's the deal?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
It's like my skin isn't dry. It looks kind of oily, actually. But it's also dull and textured and discolored in some areas. But it also feels like it's tight or something. Like I got Botox or, I don't know, but I feel like it doesn't have elasticity. I'm 16, so I feel like it should be plump and elastic and stuff, if that makes sense.I literally have no skincare routine atm. ): I'm worried I don't know enough about skincare to start applying products to my face everyday, so I just don't touch it. I also drink tons of water, so I don't think dehydration is the problem..Thanks!Edit: I didn't realize how abruptly I ended this post, lol. But I meant to say thanks in advance for any and all advice! 💓💓💓

[Sun Care] I was lying out in the sun and believe I acquired sun rash underneath my arms and on the inside of my biceps... Need advice.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi reddit skin experts, I'm a 27 year old male and I live in a northern state in the US my body is pretty covered up during the colder months. I was lying out in the sun last weekend to get a tan. However, after a while (2-2 1/2 hours) I realized I was getting these red bumps on my body and they were beginning to itch. I did some research and believe this is sun rash. My body under my shirt hasn't really been exposed to sun light in the past year, and this is pretty embarrassing because I love lying out in the sun, playing at the beach, etc.The articles that I have read said that it goes away in about a week, which it has been slowly disappearing on my body. I have a couple of questions. Will I be able to be exposed to the sun without this happening eventually? If so, how long does it usually take? Will my skin adapt once it gets pretty tan and won't happen? Is there anything besides sunscreen that I can use to prevent this? Why is this just happening to me now? Any help or insight would be much appreciated.

[Skin Concern] CeraVe: Does it get worse before it gets better?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I just started using the CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser a week ago. The first day it felt great, but since then, my skin has become quite dry and I'm getting a bit more acne than usual and not even the type I usually get. I had to use Pond dry skin cream to help with the dryness. Maybe it's reacting with whatever CeraVe contains? Does my skin just have to get used to it? I'm getting the CeraVe Moisturizing Facial Lotion PM today to see if that works better with the cleanser, but if it's a CeraVe ingredient that I can't handle, that won't fix it.Any ideas/suggestions?

[cringe] Friend uses St Ives to remove makeup
Beauty Tips For Body Care
My friend was complaining about her breakouts and told me she was going to go to a doctor to get something for it. She's already on a skin beneficial pill. I knew she wasn't huge on skincare because she once called my Garnier micellar water too fancy for her, so I asked her if she removed her makeup and she told me she did while showering with her St Ives apricot scrub. I knew that she used it but didn't want to give unsolicited advice but I had no idea she used it every night! I told her she should invest in a makeup remover and she told me she'd rather just get medicine. People have really different views on skincare!

[Routine Help] The edges of my nose is always very red and inflammed. I think it is because of sebaceous filaments but I can't seem to make it any better. Any help is appreciated!
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Here are some pictures: http://imgur.com/a/YDWUEMy nose has always been really red and filled with some sort of acne. It has gotten better over time but the edges of my nose are still really bad. The are just super red and inflamed, and have kind of little holes. I've tried so many things, just looking for more ideas. They look redder irl than they do in the pictures...My routine:Oil cleanse morning and evening with grape seed oil and tea tree.Use bha and benzoyl peroxide every night. Use aha every four or five nights, in place of bha, with benzoyl peroxide. All Paula's choice. Cerave in the tub over the products at night.Vitamin c in morning with moisturizer and sun screen. Most solutions to my problem that I have seen are to use bha, or aha, or oil cleansing. I've been doing all those things for months and with a little improvement, but have not fixed the problem.Any more ideas would be awesome! Thanks

[Acne] A week off Accutane and I have 3 pimples. Feeling super dejected and need advice on what to do now
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I have been on a cocktail of different acne meds since high school, from birth control to doxycyclin to topicals.. You name it I tried it. In January I requested Accutane from my doc (no derm near by) and have recently finished my cycle. I now have pimples.http://imgur.com/H7VBNk93 gross tiny painful pimples and I feel like crying. I've gone through sore lips and joint pain and the dryest skin ever and it doesn't seem to have helped. Is this normal ? Do I just give up now? Feeling super lame and dejected. Any advice on next steps would be appreciated.

[Skin Concerns] mysterious bumps starting to spread throughout my body
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi everyone. So about a few weeks ago I noticed a small rash-like condition on my left wrist. At the time, I didn't think it was anything serious and thought it would go away after a while. I didn't really pay any attention to it, until about a week ago when I noticed that it had been getting worse. Over the past week I've noticed that this "rash" or whatever it is started to spread throughout my body. I first noticed it on my right wrist, then around my the top of my hand and a little bit around the fingers. After a while it started to pop up on my arms in random locations. Just yesterday I noticed that it had reached my stomach (first pic in the album). They're just small whitish, a few pinkish, and flesh colored bumps. They don't itch at all, so that's why I'm hesitant to call it a rash. I also don't have any allergies, so I doubt it's an allergic reaction.Anyways, this has had me really worried over the past week or so and I don't mean to sound like a hypochondriach but I'm worried that it might be something more complicated than a simple skin rash. I've posted this same exact post on reddit and other medical forums throughout the Internet but haven't had any luck with figuring out what it could be. Before anyone says it, I did schedule an appointment with a dermatologist on Friday. But like I said I've started to freak out about what it is and what it could mean. Has anyone noticed these types of bumps before? Anyone have any clue or idea what it could be?https://imgur.com/a/BjQqDThank you so much to anyone that replies!

[Acne] What can I do to help BHA irritation?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hey guys, I have been off BHA for about 3-4 weeks now, after realising that it was doing damage to my skin https://imgur.com/a/3IcJb (The day I stopped using BHA).My skin was never that bad before using BHA and I only usually broke out on my forehead before using BHA.This only started happening at the end of my BHA use, never appeared at the start or mid way, and when it got to that point I started getting painful pimples and deep cysts on my cheeks as you can see, so I decided to stop. Now I am using PHisohex, which includes 2% Tricoslan, 2 times a day, and I use Clearasil Vanishing Pimple cream every night, aswell as moisturizing twice a day. This is what My skin looks like currently, not much has changed, cant even tell if its better or worse http://imgur.com/a/qxlUM On the first photo it feels like there is a sort of hard substance under those dry looking pimples (this was before I moisturized mind you) and it doesnt seem to be changing even if I try to draw it outIs there anything I can do to help this? Or do I have to go extreme and go accutane or something along those lines. I want to try and avoid doing anything like that due to being scared of side effects.I Need to take my passport photos within a week and I am really not confident in doing so in this state.Any info much appreciated!

[Acne] My acne has never been treated, how would I start ?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi SCA! I've just recently stubled upon this sub, and first of all wanted to say I love you ppl !The next part is less joyfull, but I wanted to hear your opinion:A little about me: With ~ 16 I started getting acne conglobata, first in my face, then on my back, chest, neck and shoulders, down to the hips. It was not the very worst of it, rather a very painful, very cystic constant and large acne. (When looking for images of conglobata you definitely (hopefully) get more scary shit, than what I have) My parents were both very nature-focused and anti-orthodox-medicine, so the treatment was homeopathy, showering more often, popping the cysts and "try lying in the sun, that should help". After reading through some posts here I realized this was probably utter bullshit.I went to a dermatologist once, but was scared away because he recommended a very long, very strong hormone therapy. Anyways, enough bragging. I'm in my early twenties now and everything calmed down a little. At least I can lean against walls now, and don't have to sleep on my tummy anymore ;)I'm not really confident enough to upload a picture, but the scars on my back looks pretty much like this : (beware, gross picture) http://www.enzyklopaedie-dermatologie.de/pictures/0030004.jpgThe question: A week ago (when I discovered SCA) I grabbed some mineral oil and started a small OCM Routine, and while I don't see any difference yet, it feels pretty great on the face and I feel like I get a lot of grit going. So jay :)Now I wanted to ask for advice on anything I can do for the moonland that is my back. Maybe even an idea to reduce the acne. My skin is (probably) oily, but that might come from long-time dehydration through extensive use of curd soap (another recommendation from my parents).A pack of stridex reds will arrive in the next days, but I'm a little afraid of using them on my back. What would you recommend ? I'm kinda used to it after all the years, but any improvement would be huge.So yeah, that's it. Sorry for the long read, and thanks for reading through, I truely appreciate it.

[routine help] is anyone else here using just water to cleanse? and can you still continue doing so when you choose the slug life?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
backstory: this was my previous routine https://www.reddit.com/r/SkincareAddiction/comments/42enou/beforeafter_tretinoin/cz9qfyjit's basically skinklens cleanser + celeteque moisturizer + sunplay sunscreen in the AM. then skinklens + tretinoin cream in the PM.generally, it was a good routine. however, sometimes it made my skin dry and itchy. it wasn't a huge problem, but i wanted to perfect and simplify my routine further. after some snooping i realized that the cleanser (which was already very gentle) and the alcohol based sunplay sunscreen were at fault for the dryness. i started using just water to cleanse and switched to a lower SPF creamy sunscreen (belo spf40). i also ditched the moisturizer (which i used to put under the sunplay sunscreen) because i thought my new sunscreen was moisturizing enough on its own.so now my routine is: cleanse with water and belo sunscreen for the AM, and cleanse with water and tretinoin for the PM. it works as well as my old routine but with less products!HOWEVUH, even though the itchiness has gone, my skin started to get suuuuper oily weeks after i switched to this routine. i've had a long enough relationship with SCA and skincare that i can tell that it's because of a compromised moisture barrier, and it was probably borne of ditching my moisturizer.i don't really want to use 2 creams in the AM so i'm planning to give the slug life a try (petroleum jelly on top of my tretinoin cream at night). i'm just wondering how well the slug life goes with the no-cleanser life. if they indeed do not go well together, what compromises can i make in terms of cleansing and moisturizing?

[Skin Concerns] Tiny white bumps, no redness - how do I fix?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Pic of foreheadAM routine: Wash face with cold water, Cerave Lotion in pump, Cerave AM or Biore Aqua Rich (depending on humidity)PM Routine: Cerave Hydrating Cleanser, Paula's Choice 2% BHA (wait 30 mins), Cosrx galactomyces 95 essence (just added, this might have caused forehead bumps), Cerave lotion, Aquaphor as needed,I was planning on adding PC's AHA this week but my forehead developed these bumps yesterday and today. I also have similar bumps on my chin where I usually just see sebaceous filaments. I've been using BHA for about a month now and while I have some "cleaning out", nothing like this. I added Cosrx galactomyces last week and that may have caused this. I don't really get cystic acne, just closed comedones that the bha has brought to head quickly and painlessly, so I don't think this is that but idk. Perhaps these are called whiteheads?Ive also been getting laser hair removal on face (on chin, but not on forehead), so im guessing its not that. The bumps are almost on top of my skin and I can "scrape" them off with the small end of an extractor tool. Not sure if I should and if maybe adding the AHA can fix it on it's own. Or maybe the bha will fix it? What do you guys think?

[Acne] Trying to know if accutane is right for me + help with current routine
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Ok so here it goes, like many of the people who post on here I've struggled with acne for many years now, and I always seem to struggle nailing down the perfect skincare routine. I spoke to a dermatologist on early June, and I didn't really know what to ask, she mainly said it looked hormonal and since it wasn't easy to battle with topical solutions, she suggested accutane. Is clear skin worth it for me? Definitely, but if there is a better way to go I would really like to hear some of you out. I'm not sure of costs in Canada for accutane and I'm also afraid of the side effects.I have been logging my skin change (It's all mostly focused on my cheeks, some blackheads on my chin) since beginning of May, I hope these images help those with advice: http://imgur.com/a/yyZEoFrom about end of May, before middle of June I tried the Paula's Choice acne kit and it completely dried my skin and irritated it, the only thing that stuck on its own was the exfoliant.I hope I can get some feedback on what things to add to my routine, as well as switches if need be, I have found that the moisturizers I'm currently using aren't spot on.I would describe my skin type to be Normal to CombinationAnother thing worth noting is I am on the birthcontrol Min-OvralMorning:Clarisonic Plush Brush (Not everyday) + Cerave Foaming Cleanser (Been using since April)Clear Regular Strength Anti-Redness Exfoliating Solution With 2% Salicylic AcidMoisturizer: CeraVe AM Moisturizer with SPF Normal to combination (started Using end of May, prior to exfoliant) **Note: the SPF has definitely made me feel greasy with this one and I can't help but notice my skin feels kinda ickySPF in general by Anthelios by La Roche Posay seems to be working fine (Not making me break out)Night time:Makeup Remover: Bioderma H2O -> New additionClarisonic + Cerave Foaming Cleanser (Started using since April)Clear Regular Strength Anti-Redness Exfoliating Solution With 2% Salicylic Acid-> Started using end of MayResist BHA 9 dabbed occassionally although haven't seen incredible changeCeraVe PM Moisturizing Lotion for normal to combination (Started Using end of May, prior to exfoliant **Note: It feels to me when I put this on my skin it isn't absorbed right away, it leaves an icky feeling and I wake up with oily faceI am definitely lacking better options for moisturizers, as well as a good clay mask, I was very interested in trying Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay Deep Pore Cleansing but I have heard some mixed views on using apple cider vinegar on your face.I will be meeting with the dermatologist I spoke to in a about a week and it could really help me if you guys gave me your opinion on someone who tends to have mild to moderate acne on accutane, ideally if there's another way I would love to take it.

[Routine Help] What would you consider your "over-the-top" skincare routine/practices?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I'm curious if anyone would like to share the routine/habits they feel they indulge in or use to pamper their skin (any frequency of application). I would love to know your guys' approaches, be it light-hearted discussions or a serious, step-by-step rundown of what you do. Thanks very much! :)

[Skin Concerns] What is these marks on my skin?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
http://imgur.com/a/mlRcW http://imgur.com/a/7zRq5I just found the top mark on my right calf and I've been confused as to what it is. I don't think it's a bruise because it doesn't hurt to the touch or anything like that and I haven't hurt myself or done any strenuous physical activity. It's also fairly close to the kind of mark that's in the picture below, which I've had for years. I've asked a dermatologist about what the bottom mark is but they didn't say much or tell me what it was. Should I be concerned? Can I get the bottom mark off? Is the top one the same thing?

[Skin Concerns] Update post and pictures. Welp. Skin blister thingy is even worse. Now semi-seriously contemplating an existence of eternal solitude.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I posted about two weeks ago with a picture of my skin concern which was a hard and rough patch of skin under my right eye. Well someone has put the evil eye on me (only partially joking) and I have been cursed with this huge open blister right on my FACE!!!Guys it is literally weeping pus. I have never in 22 years encountered anything like this. I don't want to go to work tomorrow because of this. This might sound dramatic but it is really impacting my confidence. I feel so blue because of this. NOTHING I do helps. I've tried vaseline, water, cleanser, moisturiser, leaving it alone, sunscreen when I'm leaving. Please no acid product recommendations. This all got worse after I used a BHA for the first and last time.Incidentally in picture 3 with the flash turned on you can see a LOT of down hairs (?) and I had no idea I even had those. What on earth can I do about them? Google says I might have PCOS! Why do I have hair under my eyes and on my bloody cheeks?? I feel like a repulsive hairy swamp monster right now.Shall I buy a razor and start shaving? Thread like I do my eyebrows ?PICS: http://imgur.com/a/aZNly PICS 1 + 2 are 10 days ago, rest are from today.TL;DR: Mild depression due to condition of skin.ETA: I also have a layer of small tiny acne sprinkled around my face - is this related?

[Acne] Best recommendations for red marks/hyperpigmentation caused by acne?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I have mild acne, but once I get rid of a bump a lot of the time there is still a flat red mark left in its place. I've had some spots like this for a while and am nervous they are permanent since I can't seem to get rid of them. Is there a drug store product I can buy to help get rid of these marks?

[Acne] Large bump formed has me worried
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Over the course of the last two weeks a pimple began forming, a few days ago it began to feel like it was shrinking but instead got larger. It's now very large and very painful, I can feel so much pressure under the skin. I can't even bring myself to leave the house right now im so embarrassed, thank god its the summer break.I occasionally get pimples but never this bad and I'm at a loss what to do. I have a GP appointment in one week. (Earliest I could get)Current routine is Neutrogena ultra gentle face cleanser, Paula's choice 2% BHA salicylic acid exfoliator and Neutrogena ultra light moisturiser. I also take zinc supplements. Here's the beast itself. http://imgur.com/W59sJTeThank you for anything you can offer.

[DIY] Growing spearmint for tea
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I've seen more and more people interested in buying spearmint tea, primarily for hormonal acne but also other hormonal issues. Actually finding fresh dried leaves is a challenge unless you live near a health food store or buy it online. Either option is to me a waste of money considering spearmint (mint family in general honestly) is one of the easiest plants to grow ever.http://imgur.com/a/z4uUNThe first photo was taken on 6/11, just over two weeks ago, the day I got these plants, pots, and dirt. I put them in the pots with dirt and took the photo a minute later. The other photo was taken last night, 6/27, when I got home from work. Yeah. You read that right, just over two weeks of growth on these. The trouble with spearmint isn't keeping it alive, it's stopping it from growing. If you have the space for a decent sized pot you too can grow spearmint and either dry the leaves yourself or pluck them fresh for a cup of herbal tea. My yard gets pretty full sun, the dirt I used is miracle grow for container planting but you can go full organic if you want, whatever floats your boat. Mints love water, I try to water them every day unless it's damp out already. Do NOT plant spearmint directly into the ground unless you accept your minty, overgrown fate.IDK if the mods would consider it kosher but as my plants get more overrun I may offer to send people dried leaves for tea just for the cost of shipping, I got two plants with that in mind.

[Acne] Large red bump on the tip of the nose that won't go away
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Posting this for my girlfriend. She has had a large red spot/bump on the tip of her nose that lasted from September last year to March this year (more than half a year). Although the red has mostly disappeared by this point she still has a mark on this area that looks like a scar. She said that this problem appeared in Middle School, High School, and now Graduate school.... each time disappearing and reappearing. Today another large red area appeared on the same spot and she's worried it's going to happen again and in general has no idea what this, why it keeps appearing, and why it will never disappear. She did say that she tried to get "stuff" out of it at some point by pinching it, which was probably not a good idea.Basically, any suggestions or information about what this could be and what to do about would be much appreciated. It has really affected her self-confidence and she'd like to not have the problem continue into the future. This is an image from the time she first got the red bump on her nose in September, which looks like she tried to get stuff out which resulted in a scar: http://imgur.com/XUgtH6sThis image is from today, with the reappearance of the red mark under the skin and the existing bump: http://imgur.com/Dn8EuJP

[Routine Help] 39 y.o. Acne and pigmentation concerns
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I have run the gammot of skin care. A course of accutane 15 years ago I believe left me super susceptible to sun damage even though I use SPF consistently. I still breakout. Largely hormonal, but blackheads throughout. And I am a picker (I know I know 😳). Image [and tazorac with an oral antibiotic but I don't like oral antibiotics. I recently saw a new dermatologist who has me on Spiranolactone (50mg)](and)1/daily and suggested Avene Triacneal at night. I'd say it's working just OK. Skin still feels relatively dry, but here is my routine: cleanse with CeraVe hydrating, sometimes I tone with Kheils gentle toner. Moisture is PC resist SpF 40, PC eye cream, and Kheils midnight recovery at night. In winter I also add CeraVe cream at night.Pigmentation worsens in summer despite SPF and Hats. I'm 39 and have kids playing sports outside most summer weekends. Even if I get acne under control I still have uneven pigmentation. I never go out without foundation. I'm using Bare minerals moisture gel today with a little Estée Lauder bronzer, Bobbi brown cream shadow - stila liner, benefit mascara and some lipgloss.I'd love suggestions! Routine suggestions. Makeup application suggestions. Any and all - much appreciated.I do take a good probiotic, fish oil and Caprylic acid b/c I read these are supposed to help.

[Product Question] Who uses Trilogy Rosehip Oil??
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I just bought this today as my friend recommended it. Anyone else use it? I'm always overwhelmed by the sheer amount of different brands selling the same thing, and I'm really sceptical about the cosmetic industry in general, so just wondering if there is much different between brands of rosehip oil? Also, how do you guys use it? During the day, at night? Have you replaced your primary moisturiser with this or do you use both? (I have a cetaphil cream which is realllly greasy so I don't know if I can use both). Do you wear it under your makeup or sunscreen? Do you put it around your eyes?Has it improved your skin? (Fine lines, scars, pigmentation)Looking forward to your replies :)

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I have fairly good skin but recently have been using neutrogena moisturizer and noticed it was causing closed comedones on my chin (I think it is this causing it) and also pimples on my t zone. I have since stopped using it and have been using coconut oil insteadI was just wondering if there's anything else I can do to aid them. I realize it's hard to completely get rid of them if they aren't pimples and don't come to head but any advice would be helpful at this point!Current routine is just dove soap morning and night and very small amount of coconut oil after washing

[product question] Cream vs Foaming Cleansers?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Recently it was suggested to me that in my routine I swap the Cerave Foaming for Normal to Oily skin cleanser to the non. I didn't know what the non was but I found the Hydrating Cleanser for Dry Skin this evening.I just basically bukakked myself based on this consistency, it was wildly odd, it burned a little, this cream shit is weird. So my question is, if I have massively oily skin, why am I using one for dry, was rubbing goo all over myself good, why did it burn, is it cleaning as well..what's happening? What do you subscribe to: to foam or not to foam?

[PSA] AHA % Calculator: What the pH of your AHA means regarding its concentration.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Here's a spreadsheet I whipped up to give you the ACTUAL concentration of AHA in your beauty product. All you need is its pH and label AHA percentage. It works for lactic and glycolic.I decided to make this when I bought some 12% lactic acid lotion and later found out that the product pH was labeled as 4.5-5.5. This spreadsheet should explain my disappointment.

[Personal] M23 How I cured my acne through diet (x-post from r/acne)
Beauty Tips For Body Care
After seeing a number of comments on this subreddit indicating that diet and acne might not be related, I wanted to share my story. I'll try to keep this post short and sweet.Since age 15 I have had severe cystic acne on my face, chest, and back. At any given time I would have 20 to 40 inflamed pimples or whiteheads on my face. Probably closer to 100 on my back and shoulders. After trying many different skincare routines besides accutane, I looked into altering my diet. Over the course of 5 years I messed around with the foods I eat and discovered sugar was the main culprit (not including natural sugars found in fruits and veggies). Dairy also seems to have a slight effect as well.My current routine is gently washing with water and a wash cloth twice a day, using a moisturizing sunscreen, and avoiding foods with added sugars and dairy. I probably only get a pimple now once every couple weeks (don't touch your face!!).For those saying I may have grown out of my acne: I have been clear for about a year but tried eating like a "normal" person a couple months ago. My skin got worse than it had ever been. Luckily it only takes about 2 to 3 weeks of being on my strict diet for my face to clear. Let me know you if you have any comments or questions! Hopefully this story can help some who you who may need to clean up their diet.P.S. Skin isn't the only reason you should get your diet in check! I get sick/have headaches and stomach aches a lot less now. I have much more energy and self confidence. Also, I have been able to gain a good amount of muscle (through lifting weights) and stay at a low body fat %, so I look good and feel great!

[Product question] Let's talk devices for facial cleansing (clarisonic, foreos luna, mio, etc) pros and cons, effectiveness, are they necessary?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Been looking into the Luna 2 but am seeing mixed reviews!Has anyone tried a variety of these devices? Whats your preference? Do they do anything?I know the clarisonic is a cult classic but it just kind of freaks me out? It seems really intense. Is it gentler than it seems? Is the Luna a giant $200 gimmick?I've been using the Luna play but i just realized there's no way to recharge or change the battery once it dies... pretty mad about it since i do enjoy it and was hoping it would hold me over until i could afford a full size.I've searched the sub a bit and haven't been able to find much discussion on these things. What are your thoughts?

[Misc] Using OneNote app to track skincare progress
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I came across this neat post on r/AsianBeauty and I thought I'd keep track of my progress as well.I have an iPhone. And from the list, I chose OneNote. In my notebook, I created several sections:Routine - I have two pages that list my current routine for AM and PM. I have it written in great detail, indicating which products I use on a daily, weekly or every other day basis.Patch Test - I have a page for each product that I try. I indicate the date I started using it, areas of my face that I patch tested, notes after using the product (whether it broke me out, etc.) and notes before using it (if I had a pimple or two on the area prior to using the product, etc.) I have several pages as well for and experimenting things, such using micellar water in the morning, comparison of different products, etc.To Buy List - Pretty self-explanatory. I made a list of products to buy, categorized as skincare, makeup and supplements.Progress - The good stuff. I've been taking progress photos since a long time ago, and I'm glad I can now have them in a more private space rather on my camera roll. I have several pages. Some are for weekly notes, where I talk about things I do during the week that could possibly affect my skin (e.g. drinking, time of the month, spent more time under the sun, etc.) And then I have pages with cropped pictures of my forehead, chin and cheeks. I try to take the photos from a similar angle and lighting. I make sure I indicate the dates the photos were taken.History - I have a purchase history of all the skincare items I currently own. It helps me keep track of how long I've been using a particular product (like konjac sponges) or until when I can use them because they have PAO expiration.Reminders - Reminders for changing pillowcases and towels I use for my face. Here, I update when I last changed them as well. That's all I have so far. I'm thinking of integrating the following sections/changes soon:List of products that work and did not work with the full ingredients listList of ingredients that broke me out and what the breakout/irritation looked likeAdding the price per oz. to the to buy listI know it probably sounds like I'm overdoing it. But I have awful memory and I can't remember where and when I patch tested a product. If I'm reminding myself to change towels and pillowcases, taking photos and etc. I might as well have them in one space. It also helps me see possible lifestyle changes that affect my skin.If you're anything like who wants to be more organized and systematic, I hope you've found this post useful!

[Misc] My skin looks miles better after spending two nights with my bf and his nice water. Any way I can combat acne worsened by my hard water?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I noticed this a couple months ago, but every sunday, after spending the weekend at my boyfriend's apartment, my skin is always significantly clearer. My routine is the same at my place as it is at his, maybe even less diligent sometimes. The only difference is the water quality. Orlando has the worst city water of any city I've lived in. It's gross. Do not drink it from the tap. His water, however, is filtered or soft water or something?? He lives in a high-rise downtown and it's special fancy people tap water.Does anyone know a way to combat the damage done by my hard water? It makes my acne flare up and I'd really like to try and tackle it from a bit of this angle (because I am so tired or trying everything and nothing working). Thank you!

[routine help] Advice on timing face washing in regards to a abnormal schedule?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi SCA,I'm looking for advice in regards to when I should cleanse my face with my current schedule. Currently, I aim to wash my face once in the morning and once at night, although this sometimes becomes a balancing act when I workout mid-day.So, here's my situation:5:40am - morning skincare routine, includes cleansing with Cetaphil and moisturizing with Cerave6am - 1:30pm - work @ produce department in grocery store - humid environment and occasionally I'll get sweaty, leaving my skin not feeling the best2pm - 4pm - Workout, after workout get home and shower and start nightly skincare routine (same as morning, although I add Differin 0.3% gel)4pm - 10pm - relax and try to avoid getting sweaty, stay out of the sun/humidity10pm - go to bedSo, I'm wondering if it would be fine to do my PM skincare routine @ 4pm daily, instead of doing it right before I go to sleep. If this isn't advised, what are the other alternatives?

[Sun care] Biore Sunscreen questions from a newbie
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I read so many posts where people in passing mention the Biore sunscreens, they seem to be the favourite brand of this sub, but people mention different names; I was wondering what the differences are? I've looked on the sidebar and the only Biore sunscreen listed is the UV Aqua one but I've also heard the names UV Perfect, Watery Essence, and Milk names being tossed around. I also searched in the search bar and there isn't a guide for navigating the different Biore sunscreens so I wanted to know which you prefer or if certain are more appropriate for certain types of UV exposure. For reference my skin is dry and easily burns and tans. I usually use physical sunscreen but have used chemical and nothing has broken me out, though my eye area is very sensitive. Thanks again for and and all the help!

[Skin Concerns] Wrinkly upper eyelids at 24?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I think I noticed it about 6 months ago and don't remember my eyes being like this before, the upper eyelids are pretty wrinkly and when I close an eye there is a lot of loose excess skin, I've started putting Vaseline on them morning and night since yesterday and have bought Cerave eye cream. I'm hoping they've just dried out from working outdoors, I work with lime as well which isn't great for skin.So hopefully if I repair the skins moisture barrier and keep them protected they'll improve, has anyone else had this? Any other ideas for things I can do?

[misc] To all my Spectro Jel users and homies...
Beauty Tips For Body Care
This was the first ever cleanser I had ever used, the purple one. I used it for 2 years, then went to cerave foaming. Cerave just really slowly ended up drying my face out so now I'm back to spectro.Did any of you use their moisturizer? Part of the hydracare line? I found out they discontinued it, which sucks. It was fatty alcohol free and pretty darn decent. What did you replace it with? Also, which spectro cleanser do you use? Is there major differences between them?

[Routine Help] Went from the pill to an IUD in January of this year. Now, two weeks from my 30th birthday, my skin looks like it did when I was sixteen. Which, in my case, is bad. I'm going to give the ScA Routine as described in the sidebar a shot, but I've got some specific questions.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I had pretty bad acne as a teen, but various birth control pills over the years kept it at bay. In January of this year I got Mirena. I love not having to take a pill everyday, I love not having periods, and most importantly, my migraines have decreased in frequency. However, my face is an shiny, oily, pimply mess now. Breakouts tend to be on my jawline, cheeks, and neck.My current skincare routine entails cleansing twice a day (AM and PM with Cetaphil), moisturizing after cleansing (Clinique's Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel), and sunscreen (product varies with how much time I plan to spend in the sun on a given day). I try to keep my makeup use to a minimum as I feel like it doesn't help the condition of my skin.I'm going to pick up a BHA product (maybe the Paula's Choice) as recommended in the sidebar. The cetaphil leaves my skin feeling tight after cleansing, so I may try a new cleanser as well (suggestions welcome). I'm also open to a new moisturizer if I find something that works better. Some specific questions I have:How much moisturizer should I be using? A dime-sized amount? More, less? Sometimes I feel less is more, but maybe I'm not using enough.I regularly go running in the afternoons after work. Should I cleanse my face before putting my sunblock on? I often do, but I worry that I'm cleansing too much. What about some kind of makeup removing wipe, just to get the day's grime off? Any recommended products?Any recommended makeup brands? I currently use Neutrogena's Healthy Skin with SPF, but I'm wondering if something different would be easier on my skin. This is incredibly frustrating. I really like my IUD and don't want to have to go back to hormonal birth control pills just to get my skin under control again. If anyone has routine or product suggestions, I'm all ears. Thanks.

[Skin Concerns] Going to a new doctor - Need Advice
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I had to transfer to a different dermotologist due to insurance issues. It has been about 2yrs since I went to a dermotologist for treatment - as I stopped due to my pregnancy two years ago. I saw this new doctor back in December where he prescribed Erithromicin (sp?),but due to a family emergency I didn't follow up the required month later.Over this period, I remember I used to be prescribed Aczone which was amazing! Also I had a prescription antibiotic in the past to treat my Hidradenitis Suppurativa. In December when I saw this new doctor I forgot to ask him for a new prescription for Aczone - detailing the success of it - How do I ask the new doctor for a prescription of Aczone, do I just ask him for a prescription explaining how it was successful in the past? Thanks.

Thanks.

[Review] Using rosehip oil as my moisturizer accidentally grew my eyelashes out
Beauty Tips For Body Care
It took at least two days to be visible. I think it also helped my brows, as I no longer have obvious patches and can get away with not doing them when I put on makeup. At night, I apply 2 drops of the oil, slather on my face, and the remaining oil I gently swipe onto my eyes. Checked my eye area in the mirror 2 days after and noticed that some lashes have sprouted. Your eyes may itch a teensy bit during the process, but it could be just me.Do note that this may not work for everyone, but I'm aware that there really are oils that do this. The one I'm familiar with is castor oil, but never got ahold of that. Hope this helps (and gives hope)!

[routine help] best drug store face cleanser?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hey guys!! I have been trying the last few months to clear up my skin and it's been working great!! I stopped picking at my face which has left me with mild acne now, just waiting for the last spots to heal up after irritating them. I have been using face scrubs my whole life but I think they are irritating me/breaking me out. I use a mini-peel to really exfoliate now. I also use a little bit of hyaluronic acid serum which has saved my face. I was going to stop by walmart later today because I need a new face wash- which should I get??I have normal skin, only oily on my nose sometimes, looking to really treat & heal the irritation I have now. I want something kind of gentle but also to help acne. I saw a thread on here about how clean and clear is actually really bad for you? Which do you recommend and which should I avoid? Please help !! :)

[Routine Help] Already washed my face twice in one day, should I just use micellar water to remove my makeup at night?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Lately I've been coming home at the end of the day and taking a shower/cleansing my face (I use CeraVe) and removing my old makeup. I put on fresh makeup and go out, but at the end of the night I don't know if it's bad for me to cleanse my skin again (considering I'd already cleansed it a few hours prior), or if I should just remove my makeup with micellar water.I have sensitive combination skin that gets dried out easily, but I worry if using micellar water alone at night will lead me to get breakouts. What are your recommendations, SCA?

[sun care] Managing/counter-acting sun sensitivity induced by BHA
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I love my BHA (stridex red), it's made such a difference to my skin since I started last October. However now it's summer and I'm mega pale. I wear SPF most days and have recently added vitamin c serum a few times a week. I'm pretty careful about the sun but I've already got a light sun burn (pink for the day, gone the next) from a couple of days out. This might have happened pre-BHA but it made me worried my skin had got even more sensitive. Is there a way of managing this? Should I reduce my BHA use in the summer months, or is the damage already done and all I can do is increase my SPF? Any advice appreciated, especially if it can be referenced. Some of the stats about how much BHA/AHAs increase your sun sensitivity are quite scary!

[Acne] Starting A Routine
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I'm a 23 year old male. I live in Phoenix and the summer heat plays havoc on my face. I'll get small acne breakouts every week or so now, but my face has never been fully clear of it. Been thinking about getting into a routine for awhile now to help move towards and maintain clear skin on my face.My normal routine right now is just rinsing off in the morning before going to work, then a shower with shampoo and soap at night. I use a cloth to basically scrub my whole body down with soap and this includes my face. Rinse. Towel dry. Done.Being completely honest I have no idea where to start. I've read with it being summer exfoliating cream or product for your face helps to get rid of dead skin and keep your pores clean. What else should I be looking at though?Any recommendations for a start and what products I should look at would be greatly appreciated.

[Skin Concerns] Just started really cleaning, and now my face is super oily??
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I'll be honest folks. Before I did nothing. Less than nothing. I never washed my face. Sometimes it got a quick splash of water and a Tshirt rub. I was foul and depressed, no hate please ;A;I'm too old to keep acting like that so I got my shit together. Picked up some recommended products, and started a strict daily routine:AM: 1. Foaming cleanser 2. Spot treat 3. Lotion 4. SunscreenPM 1. Makeup removal with coconut oil 2. Foaming cleaner 3. Salycic 2% exfoliation 4. Spot treat 5. LotionMy face feels so clean! It's so nice! Most of my pimply zones are gone, my cheeks are clearing up, angry sebaceous filaments are receding nicely after only three weeks. But now my face. It gets so oily. I only wear eyeliner, brow makeup, and lip stuff. I feel like I slapped the whole jar of coconut oil on my face. Nothing makes it feel better until I cleanse again at night. It's so gross! Is this normal? Is it just my face getting dirty over the course of the day? Or did I turn into a grease dripping pore machine?Help! It's driving me insane. The sensation is awful.
