[Skin Concerns] Is there a foolproof way to tell if you have oily or dry skin?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I can't tell honestly. Sometimes, if I press against my forehead hard/pinch (it's probably bad for the skin to do this), it feels a little greasy, but there's never visible oil. Sometimes, the bottom sides of my nose feel a little dry but oily (like itchy but oil rubs off). There's no visible oil on my face though, I think, until I put lotion on (cerave in the pump), then there's some shine.I have darkish Indian skin, but it's pretty matte (and I have some acne)How can I tell if my face is oily or not?

[Skin Concerns] How do SCA like their baths?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hello there fellow SCA. Now, we all hear about the rule of not taking long warm showers but what about baths? I live in Japan and here it is a cultural thing to take a bath at the end of the day and many use public bath houses. My bathing routine: Rinse face with water or cleanse with jojoba oil > enter bath and be careful not to make my face touch the water but rather let it steam lightly > get out of the bath and rinse with lukewarm to cool water and pat my face dry with a face towel before continuing the rest of my regimen.Show some love for bathing and share your bathing routine with your fellow SCA!

[Anti-Aging] I'm almost 18 and I have very prominent smile/laugh lines?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi! I am almost 18 and I feel like my skin is aging so rapidly? I have very deep lines by my nose which makes it hard for me to want to take pictures or anything. I look very young and my skin is fairly okay besides that (I do have that "Tear Trough" under my eyes but I can't do anything about that). I want to know what I can do to reduce the appearance of these fine lines? Also, one side (my right side) has a deeper, more prominent line than my left. Will post pics if necessary but please I just really feel not confident with myself just because of this.

[Acne] Cause of my acne? Gym, diet, meds? Maybe all three?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I've been doing quite a bit of cardio but not much more than I used to be doing. It's been about three months now and my poor forehead just won't give me a break. I get horrible almost cyst like (but they alway come to a head) zits that stick around and leave awful scars. Currently my habit is twice a day first after the gym and right before bed. It goes as follows cleanse, use diluted apple cider vinegar as a toner (this has helped a bit) then moisturize.I am doing /way/ more cardio than usual. I go to the gym every single day for at least an hour 3-4 days a week. About two months ago I was only going 3-4 times a week.Theres also the sugar. I've always consumed way too much sugar, but back when I was only working out the 3-4 times a week I was consuming a similar amount of sugar and didn't have many breakouts. Today, sugar wise, I had four pieces of cinnamon sugar toast, a slice of cheesecake and a brownie with vanilla ice cream. Clearly I could consume less sugar. Finally, and I only thought of this while writing the post, I'm taking a mood stabilizer. Right when this bout of acne cropped up is when I started taking it and upping my gym frequency. The mood stabilizer is called lamictal. The biggest side effect is a rash and what I've got is definitely not a rash. I can't find anything saying acne is exactly a side effect, but I'm curious if maybe this is the issue? What do you guys think? I'll obviously try to cut some of that sugar out but I really don't want to give up my gym habit. Do you think it's imperative to my skin that I take some days off from the gym? Should I sit in the sauna after cardio? Anything you can offer to help with the zits I have now?

[Routine Help] At a Loss: Forever Unhappy, Acne-Prone Combo Skin
Beauty Tips For Body Care
TL;DR: at a loss and frustrated with acne-prone, dehydrated, combination skin and looking for product/routine advice.Bear with me as I dump 20 years of skincare on you.I am on the edge of 30 and have suffered from consistent, mild-moderate acne-prone, combination skin since about age 10. Blemishes typically stick to my forehead/T and chin but range from small clogged pores to larger deeper blemishes. My forehead/T, nose, and chin tend to be oily, especially by end of day. Dry-prone/flaky areas include upper lip area, cheeks sometimes, T and tip of nose. I scar very easily (pigmentation) and blemishes tend to take a while to heal. On an average day, I could have at least 3-5 blemishes in production or healing. I also tend to have more issues the week leading into my period – skin feels thinner, more sensitive and oily, more breakouts on chin and forehead. Diet: I take a daily multivitamin, fruits and veggies every day, chamomile tea AM/bedtime, water in between. No caffeine, pop/soda, minimal sugar, dairy, and processed grains. I've seen dermatologists in the past but was never prescribed anything stronger than Ziana which did help a bit with the more pustule-like blemishes but it dried out my skin.Current routine: AM: Cleanse with Neutrogena Ultra Gentle Foaming Cleanser. Moisturize with Caudalie Vinosource Sorbet (love this stuff but it's too light and I go through an expensive bottle too quickly). Too Faced Hangover primer, CoverFX concealer, UD Naked foundation.PM: Cleanse with Neutrogena again, been doing this twice to remove makeup fully then cleanse skin. Moisturize with Caudalie. Exfoliate every other day with First Aid Beauty Radiance Pads. Cover blemishes, healing blemishes and dry-prone areas with a thin layer of Aquaphor.I'll occasionally spot treat with Bye Bye Blemish drying lotion but won't do it with Aquaphor at the same time. I also try to throw in a mask weekly. Lately, I've been doing Andalou Naturals Pumpkin Honey Glycolic Mask once a week. I don't think I've noticed breakouts specifically associated with that.Bottom line: I'm reevaluating my routine and would like to go as gentle and minimal as possible but resolve the blemish and moisture imbalance issues. I'm starting to think the Neutrogena cleanser is too harsh — skin is a bit parched before putting on moisturizer and the flaky areas are very noticeable. I've been using this cleanser for about a year and felt that it was working better than Cetaphil Daily Cleanser which I used for several years.Cleansers I have tried in the past 4 years and didn't like:Cetaphil Daily: wasn't terrible but felt a little harsh Cetaphil Gentle: I may have had a bad batch but it smelled bad, stung my eyes, felt super oily Cerave Foaming: broke out, felt terrible on skinMoisturizers I've tried:Cetaphil Lotion: felt a little oily on skin and didn't help with flaky areas Cerave PM: sad, sad, sad face. Immediately broke out and will never touch again. La Roche-Posay Toleriane Fluid: Felt strange on my skin, didn't sink in or just didn't jive.I haven't tried serums too much since I haven't gotten my cleanser/moisturizer down; however, I have tried Benton Snail Been Venom Essence. It helps with the flakey areas but I think it may be aiding in the breakout issue. So, any advice, questions to further evaluate, product recommendations, etc. are absolutely welcome. Help, please!!

[PSA] Fatty alcohol-free hair conditioner
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I know some people dispute fatty alcohol sensitivity, but after years of trial and error, I've narrowed it down to being to root cause of my closed comedones. I went on a quest about a month ago to once and for all, rid my entire routine of fatty alcohols, but had significant trouble finding a conditioner without them. Many promising leads turned out to contain them "hidden" in the ingredients with words like "emulsifying wax" which turned out, upon further inspection, to contain fatty alcohols. After a great deal of searching, I have finally found a conditioner free of fatty alcohols! I've been using it for about a week on my thick-but-fine, wavy hair and can confirm that it performs as well as any conventional conditioner I have used. It doesn't leave a residue and has a creamy texture. My hair feels soft without being weighted down. I contacted the seller before buying to confirm the ingredients and opted for the fragrance-free formula for extra caution.I just wanted to share because I came across a couple of lists with products that have been discontinued, reformulated, or turned out to contain them after all. Hope this can help someone else!https://www.etsy.com/listing/78550597/goat-milk-conditioner-all-natural-creamyIngredients: Goat's Milk, Olive Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Jojoba Oil, Grape Seed Oil, Hemp Oil, Castor Oil, Argan Oil

[Acne] How to use hydrocolloid bandages to treat active breakouts
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi everyone, I love this sub and constantly recommend it to people who are just starting their skincare journey. The sidebar is glorious and I'd like to suggest this small addition since it seems to come up quite a bit amongst newcomers. I’m no expert but I figured I’d try my hand at writing a small tutorial for using hydrocolloid bandages. If any part of this is wrong or could use more information, please let me know and hopefully we’ll all be immortalized in the wise sidebar.WHAT IS A HYDROCOLLOID BANDAGE?According to Wikipedia:A hydrocolloid dressing is an opaque dressing for wounds. A hydrocolloid dressing is biodegradeable, non-breathable, and adheres to the skin, so no separate taping is needed. The active surface of the dressing is coated with a cross-linked adhesive mass containing a dispersion of gelatin, pectin and carboxy-methylcellulose together with other polymers and adhesives forming a flexible wafer. In contact with wound exudate, the polysaccharides and other polymers absorb water and swell, forming a gel which is held within the structure of the adhesive matrix. The moist conditions produced under the dressing are intended to promote fibrinolysis, angiogenesis and wound healing, without causing softening and breaking down of tissue. The gel which is formed as a result of the absorption of wound exudate is not mobile and free running but held within the structure of the adhesive matrix. Most hydrocolloid dressings are waterproof, allowing normal washing and bathingHere’s a more visual explanation: http://i.imgur.com/ykLqCsM.png - credit to u/cattercupSo basically, they absorb moisture (or exudate) and trap it within its gel for easier removal.HOW TO USE ONE:If your pimple hasn’t come to a head, use a warm compress for a couple of minutes to coax it out.Clean the area. Or you know, just wash your face as you normally would and then work on spots.Identify your zit’s center and use a lancet to lightly pierce the skin. You can buy lancets in any pharmacy’s diabetes section or you can use any needle and sterilize it with rubbing alcohol.Treat the spot with some BHA (stridex, PC, etc) EDIT: For drier skin types, you might want to skip this stepGENTLY squeeze with q-tips or clean fingers (no fingernails!) until you’re sure the skin has been pierced and the gunk has a way outSlap a bandage over the area and leave overnightIf you do everything right and if you BELIEVE, you’ll wake up with a bandage full of gunk and a new outlook on life.Removing your bandage can be tricky depending on the brand you used. Some brands have a very strong adhesive that can pull on your skin while others will fall off in the middle of the night and might never be seen again until you move your bed to vacuum underneath and find a small -but impressive- mountain of discarded bandages stuck to the bedpost. To remove the former, just use a bit of mineral oil to loosen the adhesive.WHICH BRANDS TO USEThere are specially designed acne patches for sale online and in several stores but they can get a bit pricey, however, you can also find these in most pharmacies but you’d have to cut them to size.As far as brands go, I’ll have to ask for recommendations since I’ve only ever used Nexcare’s acne patches and I’m not sure if those are the best ones around. Please feel free to add anything I may have missed, as I mentioned earlier, I am but a mere pimply-faced mortal in the land of skincare gods.Hope this helps!EDIT: credit to u/ms_kittyfantastico

[Skin concerns] Constantly chapped lips
Beauty Tips For Body Care
[24F] here with constantly chapped lips and it's really annoying! I don't use any chapsticks, just natural oils (jojoba, castor etc) and not too often, like most three times a day. But after I eat or kiss (very awkward with my new boyfriend) I get very dry, chapped, flaky lips and I just have to put some oil on them! I maintain a healthy, dairy and sugar free diet, do yoga everyday and am pretty healthy and happy overall. But what causes these irritating chapped lips? Help!!!

[acne][routine help]If Baking Soda Is So Bad, Why Does It Work So Well For Me?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I know I know I know. I've been told over and over by different people DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE USE BAKING SODA ON YOUR FACE. I've read lots of articles, posts in this sub/other subs, and studies about why I shouldn't use baking soda on my face. But it just seems to work so well for me....I don't get it. I worry that I'm doing damage that I don't see, but I don't know what the alternatives are. I have had the most success with my baking soda concoction than anything else. Some background: I'm a 30 year old female, I have dry acne prone skin. My acne is due to me having hypothyroidism (I am medicated for it), the consensus with my doctor is that acne will be a thing for me it's just a matter of how to deal with the breakouts when it happens. I also have eczema, mostly on my hands (which I am able to regulate quite easily), and a bit on my face around my nose. My skin tends to be on the sensitive side, and also scars quite easily, not just on my face....the skin everywhere on my body scars easily. I also get cysts on my face at times, lots of swelling under the skin but never coming to a head. I've tried tons of over the counter cleaners/toners/scrubs, etc. Nothing seemed to fight breakouts for me. I used proactive for about 3 years. It helped with the breakouts, but it left my skin very irritated, blotchy and red, and my acne always looked swollen and purple. So I stopped using it.I use a mixture of baking soda and oatmeal. I make this at home by grinding up the oatmeal with a mortar and pestle using a bit of sea salt to help the process. I then mix the oatmeal at a 1:1 ratio with baking soda. When it's time to wash my face I add water to my mixture to make a paste and then wash my face with it, rinsing thoroughly. I then use a toner that I make with about 2/3 witch hazel, and 1/3 apple cider vinegar ... I dilute this mixture with distilled water. My current routine: I use the baking soda/oatmeal mixture, followed by the witch hazel/AC vinegar mixture twice a day (morning and night). In the morning after the toner has dried I apply a face moisturiser for sensitive skin. I get some slight burning after I wash my face, mostly where the eczema is, but it goes away within a few minutes. Using the moisturiser once a day completely gets rid of any redness and tightness for me, and leaves my skin smooth. I've been doing this for about 3 years now. I still get acne (which I knew I would because of my thyroid), but the breakouts are less extreme; don't swell and turn purple and less over all pimples/black heads. My breakouts go away much quicker, and my face is not red and irritated all the time. I also only get cysts every few months instead of getting them weekly like I did while using other products and proactive. Please don't crucify me for my routine, I am aware that it is widely agreed upon that baking soda is not good for skin. I'm not condoning or recommending this treatment for others. I just don't understand why something that is so bad works so well for me, and thought maybe others could offer some insight. I'm very open to suggestions and alternatives that aren't expensive.

[Anti-Aging] I'm a male teenager with very deep forehead wrinkles. Is there anything I can do to fix or minimize the damage?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I'm a 15 year old Asian male and I have very deep forehead wrinkles. Even the slightest facial change or expression will often cause huge and ugly creases on my forehead. I used to not care about my wrinkles at all but ever since I started getting interested in fashion and overall looking better, the wrinkles started getting my on nerves and made me feel a bit more self conscious. I know wrinkles are inevitable for most people but I really resent the fact that I have them in my mid teens.

[Product Question] What is ScA's opinion on Deciem's Ordinary line?

I haven't seen much on the Ordinary line of products being talked about in skincare subreddits. I have quite a few of their products and I honestly love them, super reasonably priced and nice results.Edit: Here is my happy little collection + Hylamide (by the same company)! http://i.imgur.com/V3LWjx3.jpg

[Product Question] How long before I start to notice AHA working?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Title says it all- I started using the DE TLC in the beginning of November every other day, recently moving to every day in the last 10 days or so. How long do you guys think it should take to see some benefits? My skin is still very bumpy and I'm hoping that it's just purging but I'm not sure and getting discouraged....thank you!

Hello all. Super pale 42 yr old with an issue. My nose is very often red. Now I tend towards red when too hot or working out, I'm one of those pale chicks. But quite often my nose is just red. I am not aided by the fact it is has a ball like shape. My skin is reasonably clear and pores ok. My mom had some rosacea despite not drinking. All thos mask you can buy don't have a nose part to them(wth). Leaving me without a good solution for my red nose. Any thoughts before my students ask me to guide their slay home? I should add I am at that lovely life junction where I still have minor acne and hot flashes. Win-win? Misspelled slay...but like it now that way

[Skin Concerns] How to keep my face from getting so oily.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
It's not that I have bad hygiene, I wash my face regularly and don't really have any acne. And my face isn't all super shiny or anything, but it's mainly because I use those oily wipe pad things. For example. This is what it looks like before I wipe my face: http://imgur.com/oGP9rOtAnd then after: http://imgur.com/kHUDccdAnd then if I get a new one and do it again two hours later it's the same deal.Basically just how do I keep my face from releasing so many oils?

[Research] The soap/SLS/detergents dilemma : what's the good type of cleaning ingredients to look out to now for body wash?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi,First I’m sorry if my sources are sketchy : I’m already in another Ph.D program in social science and don’t have the time or mental energy to do much more than a vague google search (but it would definitively help to take advantage of my access to Pubmed and other databases).I'm interrested in skincare ingredients here and there since last year, and it made some benefits to my skin, mostly about acne (thanks Paula’s Choice BP and BHA!). I want to talk here mostly about body cleanser, and the ingredient responsible for the cleaning agent. I’m a little lost as to what to search for in the ingredients.I had banned SLS a long time ago, and thought that cocamidopropyl betaine was the holy grail. Then I read somewhere that it’s polluant and allergenic. I thought it was fine for me but I realise now that I developed keratosis pilaris while using my body wash on CB (and it disapeared rapidely with a change, I talk more about it in another post). I see that some more types of detergents exist outside of SLS and CB, but I don’t see them often in body wash. That seems to be the only choices around. In cocamidopropyl betaine really controversial? What are the other choices?I also read about soaps and how it’s too drying for the skin, and about the Ph issue. Some sources (mostly artisan soap companies, so definitively biased) explain in their websites that soaps can be very gentle on the skin if there’s added moisture by having added oils/butters to the recipes, so that not all the fat is converted to soap ( http://bubbleandbee.blogspot.ca/2008/02/soap-vs-detergent.html ). What is your opinion on this? Is soaps with added shea butter or almond oil can be gentle for the skin? I know that squeaky and drying sensation on the skin with bar soaps, but I also seen some bar that let my skin very hydrated. I’m actually using an olive oil based luxury bar soap in my bathroom for my hands, and the Occitane lavender bar soap in the other bathroom, and the two seems to let my hands very hydrated. There’s also another soap company that try to debunk the Ph issue : http://www.chagrinvalleysoapandsalve.com/idascorner/soap/are-your-soaps-and-shampoo-bars-ph-balanced . Do someone have done a lot of reading on saponification and Ph and can close or open the door on this?I’m somewhat interested in all the organic/fair trade/zero wastes kind of fads, and trying to conciliate these interests with some common sense and scientific knowledge. Is all the «artisan» soap bad for the skin, and is there a kind of very gentle detergent I can look up when reading labels on organic body wash? Is making my own will automatically come to the result of some big skin mistake, whatever my ingredients would be?Thanks!

[Routine Help] BHA or AHA for relatively dry skin and comedones, other questions
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Right now I'm trying to put together a routine.I have skin that isn't really dry per se but dries out quickly when not cared for. I have tried salicylic acid and it tends to be relatively harsh to my skin, however when I use a moisturizer afterwards it's quite ok. Since I've read AHA is more for very dry skin and not for spot prone skin, I'm not sure what to use.Thank you for your help and please excuse any language mistakes

[Misc] Add flossing to your skincare routine
Beauty Tips For Body Care
No, "flossing" isn't a new technique - I mean your teeth! If you need time to let something soak in or dry, floss your teeth in the meantime. It gives you something to do, takes about the same amount of time each time, and you should be doing it anyway! What goes better with healthy skin than healthy teeth?

[Skin Concerns] After months I'm still struggling with these on my cheeks
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hello, as you can see on the picture I've been struggling with these pores/blackheads on my cheeks for some months already. I wash my face twice a day with a cleanser and then a moisturizer afterwards. I've tried oil cleansing with mineral oil for some weeks but it didn't help much even though I got grits. What could cause this?

I wash my face twice a day with a cleanser and then a moisturizer afterwards. I've tried oil cleansing with mineral oil for some weeks but it didn't help much even though I got grits. What could cause this?

[Anti-Aging] How long for Sun Damage to Manifest itself?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Is it true that it take 10 years for sun damage to manifest itself? I had very little sun damage in my teens as I lived in Vancouver, but from 20-23 lived in Florida, wasnt a crazy beach goer but did get a lot of sun damage. Started wearing sunscreen at 25 I am almost 28 now, I look super young. Wear sunscreen and use niaciamide mosturizers. I have a few small lines under my eye and nasoliabial lines are starting to show, but over look young, especialy my skins texture. Is there any way that I can stop this damage from manifesting, especially if I wear Sunscreen every single day (also live in northern europe now, where in winter there literally is no sun) Help me!

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I have really dry skin on my face. I've tried a few products (aveeno and Neutrogena) but most of them only last for half a day or a few hours. What's the best moisturizer you can reccomend?

[Product Question] Hey guys Newbie here with a question about salicylic acid
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hey everyone so I recently purchased a new acne face wash (Neutrogena mens skin clearing acne wash) and it has 2.5% of salicylic acid in it. The directions are not super clear so I was curious is this product applied all over my face or just specific points of acne like my BP 10%? I just do not wanna over do it and cause irritation all over my skin but have been using 10% BP with good results, just wanted to add this in there to help improve things.

[skin concern] My neck always has these little bumps. They're very sensitive and irritable. This picture is right after a shave and you can still see stubble. This only happens on my neck, not my face as well. What can I do?

[Skin Concern] Single small, red, itchy dot appeared on my hand, now I have 2 more on my arm a week later. Not sure what it is or how to treat it.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
PictureI started a job as a housekeeper at a hotel last month. About a week ago I get this red bump on my hand. No big deal, it happens. It's very itchy like a mosquito bite and protrudes from the skin. There is no pus, no signs of an insect bite, nothing. I thought maybe it was from the cleaning chemicals at work, but this is on my left hand (I am right hand dominant, that hand touches the chemicals the most). I wear a band-aid to work. For some reason when the band-aid is on it, the itching is reduced. As soon as I expose it to air, it itches horribly again.I have sensitive skin. I haven't used any new products at home, it's just work, and you'd think these same spots would appear on my right hand. Well I just waited around for this red spot to disappear, and it's not reduced or going away at all. I was itching my left arm earlier when my husband pointed out I have two more of these dots on my upper arm, and that's what I was scratching. It's stressing me out!I know most people would jump to "go to a doctor/dermatologist", but I'm an immigrant without any health insurance right now. I'm getting some serious dental work done and paying for everything out of my own pocket because I need to get that work done. Unless this red dot looks life-threatening, I'm not willing to go to a doctor. I'd much rather stick with over-the-counter topical creams or home remedies to try and get it to go away.I have been Googling like crazy, searching for any similar things. I thought maybe bed bugs, but it's just single red dots, not lines or patterns. And I know I'm working in a hotel, but I don't have any reason to suspect bed bugs beyond that (I'm checking our mattress tonight just to be safe though). I also thought maybe it's hives, but I've never had hives before, and I'm not 100% sure that's what it is or how to go about treating that. I'm confused, a bit lost, and very ITCHY! ): Could really use some suggestions/advice here, thank you!edit: Adding that it's not a flea bite. We have an indoor cat, and I know what those look like! For tonight I'm putting on a band-aid and some Neosporin and hoping it looks better in the morning.

[Acne][Routine Help]
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hello /r/skincareaddiction!Let me explain my skin and current routine. I have very very acne prone skin and have since I was about 10. I went on Accutane when I was about 14 for 5 months, it cleared up my skin beautifully and I went acne free for about a year after but then my issue came back. I get a few pimples (cystic and whiteheads) on my forehead (I used to get much more on my forehead when I was younger, but less on my cheeks) and I have a lot on my cheeks (pics attached)http://imgur.com/a/OueJ4This routine I've had the past 6 months with little to no observed improvement. At night I wash my face using my Clarisonic Smart with the normal brush head using Dermalogica Clearing Skin Wash, I then use a Stridex Maximum pad to wipe down my whole face, then I use Dermatologica Overnight Clearing Gel on the wider spots of breakouts on my face and sometimes I use Terminator 10 as a spot treatment on top of that. I then use Dermatologica's Clear Start Hydrating lotion. I use Dermatologica's Sebum Clearing Masque as a full face mask probably once every other week, and I sometimes use it as a spot treatment before bed, as well as Philosophy's Microdelivery Peel as a microderm once a month. In the morning I usually just rinse my face with water and rarely wear makeup due to my high activity job and general laziness.I have very very sensitive skin, and need stuff that's gentle and not too drying. I also did try PocketDerm/Curology, but didn't have much success. I'm considering picking that up again and reconsulting with my dermatologist on there. I'd love some advice for products that will help clear up my skin, and while these ones are great they are pretty pricy. I'd love products that also don't cost too much, and i live in the US, so products you can get there. Thanks!

[Product Question] Is it ok to put CeraVe's moisturizing lotion on my face?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
This one in particularI recently bought this because it seemed like a fairly good moisturizer and I wanted to try something with hyaluronic acid, but I'm not sure if it's face-safe.Also asking if it's ok to use this if i have oily skin even though it states it's for normal-dry skin. It feels lightweight and doesn't make me oilier. If you have used this I would love to hear how it worked for you! Thank you all

[B&A] FINALLY Went on Tretinoin & Regret Not Trying It Earlier (3 Week Progress)
Beauty Tips For Body Care
http://imgur.com/a/RIoFs[LONG POST, SORRY!]Hello everyone!I decided to write a progress report, for my own sake as well as to encourage others to try out tretinoin as well. My skin has never been very bad growing up. I guess the only problems I had were redness around my nose and an uneven skin tone. The only products I ever used was hydrating toner and lotion. I thought my skin wasn't very nice at the time... I laugh at how ungrateful I was then.Fast forward to when I turned 19. My skin was starting to become more acne-prone. I quickly nipped that bud by starting AHA and BHA after discovering r/AsianBeauty. My skin was AMAZING for those few months. I started using more products such as essences and serums. Vitamin C was super important because although I occasionally got acne, it always left a mark that took forever to go away.Jump to when I turned 20. For some reason, chemical exfoliants weren't working anymore. I started getting more and more acne and it wouldn't go away. I was getting kinda depressed, so I asked a family doctor to give me tretinoin, after reading about it a bit on SCA. He brushed me off saying it wasn't a first line of treatment, and Biacna (or Ziana in the US) is all I probably need. He gave me a few samples to try. Well I had no idea how to use Biacna since it's not a super popular treatment, and I stuffed the samples in my drawer for a year. I continued to try using BHA and AHA, eventually sticking only to Stridex since that seemed to help a TINY bit. I tried chemical peels from MUAC, which helped the skin that didn't have acne, but only caused me to purge in my problem areas without making it better than pre-peel.My skin was only getting worse and worse, so I took out my Biacna samples (they had another year before expiry). I realized that it was EXACTLY THE SAME AS RETIN-A, except it has clindamycin in it as well and is %&ing expensive. The next morning, my skin was unbelievably smooth where I had no acne. I knew it would take longer for it to help with my acne, and there would probably be an awful purge. I quickly went to see my doctor at university (she's MUCH nicer and knowledgable) who gave me a prescription for generic tretinoin gel 0.025%. The pharmacy gave me Retin-A gel for some reason, but for the generic price?? Not that I'm complaining.WEEK 1 - Moderate purging, nothing makeup can't cover.WEEK 2 - Purging has mostly subsided. Light flaking around my mouth area and where my largest zits were.CURRENT/WEEK 3 - I think my moisture barrier got damaged. I never had sensitive skin, but everything I put on my face hurt, especially my HG Cerave PM :( Took a day break from Retin-A and went out to get La Roche-Posay Toleriane Ultra Fluide (received a deluxe Toleriane Cleanser sample as well) which was sooo nice for my face. I buffered with a toner the day after the break prior to Retin-A, and I think I will do that from now on since it barely stung.Right now, I'm very upset with the original doctor I went to see who brushed off my request for tretinoin. I could have avoided a year of frustration and low self-esteem, as well as comments from family members who told me my skincare was useless since it did nothing for my acne. However, I'm grateful that I finally managed to hop onto the tretinoin wagon. I'm eagerly waiting for the day where my PIH will clear up and I can go out with just a tinted moisturizer.

[Skin Concerns] Anyone ever experience a sudden increase in peach fuzz (or visibility of such?)
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Do you know what caused it and did it go away? I can only find info about sudden increase or growth in dark hairs, not peach fuzz type.I have a whole hell of a lot going on right now after having my skin react horrifically to a retinoid, and one of those things is sudden peach fuzz everywhere where there was previously none (or at least it was not at all visible)...I'm still wondering if it actually grew suddenly or if the strange texture and color of my skin and all the other hell that is going on right now is just making every little white hair on my face show up more and stand on end. (Because to my knowledge, everyone has hair on their face, correct? It's just a "can you see it" issue?)This symptom came a little later than all the rest of the reaction..which were immediate..so that worries me...I'm sure if it was present right away, it would have to be a visibility thing and not actual growth..I don't know if the steroid cream I was prescribed for a week had any effect either...but that was still months ago..I'm usually ghostly pale but now practically orange so maybe the white hairs are suddenly showing up more??...but I can also suddenly feel them everywhere...so idk...never had a peach fuzz problem before, "peach fuZz" wasn't even in my vocabulary. Then again, never had any of what I am seeing and feeling with my face right now...ugh...I f***ing hate retinoids...Anyway...I would love to know if anyone else has experienced this even if it wasn't from a product and just out of the blue..Thx!

[Skin Concerns] Removing scars on face caused by shaving: Which products to use & avoid?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
2 months ago, I changed from using cartridge razors to safety razors on my face. During the learning phase, I caused a ton of irritation and scrapes/abrasions on my face. My technique has improved and I no longer have new irritations now. However, there are many scars and marks left over from the initial month of shaving - from my cheeks, moustache, chin to the neck. Some of them are circular and are caused by shaving over pre-existing bumps from previous day shaves. The rest look like abrasions where a certain patches are darker brown compared to my natural colour. To remove these marks, should I just let time run its course or should I use the PIH routine in the sidebar? Are these considered PIH marks? I would like my skin tone to be even and back to my natural skin colour eventually.I was recommended a product called "Fadeout Night Cream" by a drugstore. Is this sufficient/recommended? It has Lactic Acid among other ingredients. My current routine is very basic.AMFacial Foam during showerFace moisturiserPMFacial Foam during showerExfoliating Scrub every 2-3 daysFace MoisturiserThanks for reading!

[Skin Concerns]Redness/burning under left eye
Beauty Tips For Body Care
http://i.imgur.com/xiCZqPJ.jpg This is when it has calmed down some. It was much worse a few days ago. So this 1 1/2 inch patch of skin under my left eye seems to keep flaring up from time to time. For weeks it will be gone then all of a sudden it shows up and takes a couple weeks to disappear again. Its kind of tender in that area and even Cerave face moisturizer seems to give it a very slight burn when applied. Seems to also be worse after I shave I guess because i'm taking a layer of skin off?I currently use this before bed and just cold water in the morning. I also use Cerave face moisturizer when the flare ups start. Just wondering what else I can do to help clear this problem area up for good? Or am I stuck with it for life.

[Product Question] how can wal mart sell certain products so much less than other places?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
One of the products that I use every day is the Olay regenerist regenerating serum. It often ranges from $20-24 at drugstores and Ulta. I was just browsing wal mart online and saw that it's only $13.19 there. This isn't the first time I've seen a lower price difference for skincare/beauty products at wal mart, but this is the largest price difference I've seen. How can wal mart sell it at almost $10 less? These are the exact same product, am I missing something about how wal mart can sell it for so much less?

[Skin Concerns] Even after washing my face with JUST WATER and moisturizing afterwards, my face acts like I've over stripped my face
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Really the title says it all.In the past I've tried a few different cleansers for my face before I went to bed, adding and stopping each product properly and using them one at a time, and no matter what I used my face would feel tight right after and I would wake up with incredibly oily skin in my T zone. From what I understand, the products I've been using were probably over stripping my face of its natural oils so my skin was over producing oils to balance that out.So I stopped using all cleansers and just started rinsing my face with water and moisturizing after. But my face still feels tight afterwards and I'm still waking up with an incredibly oily T zone as if I'm still over stripping my face! How can WATER be too harsh for my skin? I don't use hot water either and I don't just plunk my face in water for a long period of time, I would need a snorkel for that.I've even tried different moisturizers to see if that was what was causing it but nothing changes.Does anyone have any suggestions or thoughts?

[Acne] Do acne scars/PIH marks ever fully clear?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
My acne is finally beginning to clear up but I still have a lot of little red spots on my forehead, fortunately aren't deep or raised but a couple are a little darker.I was wondering do the PIH marks ever completely fade? [acne] Can purging result in painful pimples?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I started using a new moisturizer, Aveeno Clear Complexion Moisturizer (contains 0.5% salicylic acid), almost a week ago and I am wondering if I'm purging or breaking out. After a few days of using this new moisturizer I had two pimples pop up on my forehead. Both of these pimples were red and painful to the touch. The reason I thought this was purging at first was because my forehead was full of closed comedomes prior to starting this moisturizer and while I did get those two new pimples many of my closed comedomes have gone away. But since the new pimples were painful I wasn't totally sure it was purging. So can purging result in red, painful pimple that don't come to a head right away or does purging always result in small whiteheads?

[Routine Help] Doctor prescribed routine questions
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi, long time lurker here. I'm a 20 year old male with combination skin and recently started breaking out when I got back to college even though I had the best skin I ever had over the summer. My routine (not very complex :/) that didn't seem to help much was:AM: wash face with waterPM: Wash face with Cerave Foaming Cleanser, generic CVS moisturizer, apply EpiduoHowever, my father talked to one of his friends, a family doctor, who said to do this routine instead:AM: Wash face with water and apply thin layer of VaselinePM: Wash face with cleanser (going to switch to Cetaphil because less drying) and apply 10% benzyl peroxideI was just wondering if this routine would work? Because it sounds kind of different from everything else suggested here. All help would be appreciated! Thanks!!

[Routine Help] From carefree flawless skin to absolute distress - what to do?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi there! So I (F;18) have had almost perfect skin my entire life - until this summer. It started to break out like crazy with deep, painful acne - now it's mostly healed though. I still get some pimples here and there and it seems like it has lost it's glow, not to mention the PIH. It's really upsetting me and I feel way less confident than I did before - I won't even leave the house without full make up on. What can I do? I can't help stressing about my skin and it's driving me crazy that it's not returning to the state it was before.Routine: AM Wash face with water and Cetaphil Restoraderm Washing Lotion Cetaphil Hydrating Cream Applying make upPM Remove make up with Cetaphil cleanser Cetaphil Hydrating Cream Spot Treatment with BPO 5%I used to only use water, ph-neutral face wash, and organ oil as moisturizer. Now any time I apply anything oily I break out immediately. I've tried the COSRX Whitehead Power Liquid and it made my skin dry and flakey.I'm so lost. My skin is alright now but I fear that adding any new product to my routine would cause me to break out. Thanks in advance!

[review] I have to rave about this oil cleanser for my acne prone skin (Mineral Fusion makeup removing oil cleanser)
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Mineral Fusion makeup removing oil cleanserMy skin type: dehydrated, dry during winter, acne proneThis was the first oil cleanser I ever tried. I bought it because I just happened to be in Ulta and they had it on clearance. I knew pretty much nothing about my skin at the time, or what ingredients to look for. My skin responded well to it but it's pricey (almost $19 for a small bottle) so I tried a few others. I learned anything with mineral oil breaks me out. I tried vaseline which works fine but it's annoying to use for OCM and hard to get off. I recently picked up Simple's oil cleanser and everything looked good to me (no mineral oil, no fatty alcohols which break me out bad, no coconut oil). I started to get a few pimples here and there and I found out one of their ingredients is highly comedogenic.I went to check out the ingredients of my first oil cleanser and was pretty surprised by what I saw. It has a lot of extra goodies in it, including rosehip oil, vitamin C, and argan oil.Unfortunately it is somewhat pricey, almost $19 for a small bottle, but I have tried so many oil cleansers since and they all break me out. Some have even left me feeling dry (Simple). I know I am sensitive to mineral oil and because I'm sensitive to fatty alcohols, I avoid coconut oil.Anyway I may just have to bite the bullet on this one. But it is a wonderful formula and I highly, highly recommend it, worth trying if you are acne prone and just can't seem to find an oil cleanser that doesn't break you out.Ingredients:Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Caprylic/Capric, Triglyceride, Polysorbate-80,Grapeseed Oil, Rosa Canina (Rosehip) Oil, Argania Spinosa (Argan) Oil, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate (Vitamin C), Aloe Barbadensis Leaf (Aloe Vera Gel) Juice, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria), Tocopherol(Vitamin E), Olea Europaea (Olive) Leaf Extract, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Kaolin, Camellia Sinensis (White Tea) Extract*, Natural Fragrance. * Certified Organic

[Acne] Advice on dealing with stubborn acne/discoloration on my butt?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi, this is my first post here so I apologize in advance for any mistakes.I have had pimples & red spots on my butt ever since I hit puberty. It's really unattractive, and I'm not sure what to do about it. I shower regularly and use the Neutrogena Body Clear Body Wash, I make sure to dry off thoroughly after I shower, but it doesn't seem to make a difference. Would it be a good idea to start using Stridex pads on my buns, or other acne products typically used on the face? Would I need to use a specific moisturizer if I did this? Would it be super weird to put a mask on my butt? Queen Helene Mint Julep has helped with acne on my face... What else could I be doing? It's not just pimples - I get lots of little red spots that don't really turn into anything, or go away. I'm really at a loss for what to do. Any advice would be greatly welcomed, thank you.EDIT: I didn't want to post a picture in case that's against the rules, but if it would help I have no qualms about doing so.

[Skin concerns] [hair removal] scarring, ingrown hairs and visible pores.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hey guys, I'm reaching a point of desperation and I've been developing some really bad anxiety and insecurity over my body.I have dry, sensitive skin. I'm also Indian by enthicity. I've shaved improperly at a really young age and a result of that, I have scars from picking at ingrown hairs on my legs, vagina, and on my stomach and some on my chest and boobs. Im pretty hairy and I grow hair everywhere. I absolutely hate it. I shave my vagina and every inch of it is covered in tiny scars that are purplish brown cause of my skin tone, so it stands out and it looks terrible. I've tried exfoliating, and I even stopped shaving for a bit but nothing works.Waxing and hair removal creams cause a lot more irritation to my skin and laser is out of the question cause I Dont have money for it.My main concern is the scarring and little black dots that cover my body even when I've shaved. Its noticeable and I dont know how to get rid of it. My skin is soft but my pores are noticeable and the purplish brown is really sucks. Everywhere my hair grows (which is EVERYWHERE, even on my boobs and all over my stomach) is noticeable, even when I shave.Help would be really appreciated. Thanks!

[Routine Help] Cosrx aha bha and snail essence questions
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I've been using Cosrx AHA for about a couple months now and I like the results in terms of tone and brightnes, however I still have blackheads. So I got the cosrx BHA as well as the snail 96 essence because it sparked my interest. My questions are 1. can I use the BHA and AHA at the same time only putting the BHA on my nose and chin where I have blackheads and use the AHA on my cheeks and forehead? I would do this only every third night since thats what I'Ve been doing with just the AHA so far. Question 2. where does the snail essence fit into my routine? I use Hada Labo face wash, clindamycin gel, The Oridnary hyaluronic acid serum, Elta md am moisturizer. Any help would be appreciated! :)

[Routine Help] Diagnosing problem, fixing it?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
https://imgur.com/a/OJPrvHere is how my face currently looks - first photo in bright light and second photo in normal light. My skin isn't awful, but I definitely deal with sporadic break outs that sometimes correlate with my period and sometimes not. I also have quite a bit of redness on my cheeks, and massive pores. WTF? Last, I have a lot of scars I suppose, little discolored dots that were acne at one point.Right now I am only using neutropenia ultra gentle hydrating cleanser for sensitive skin 2x/day and cerave hydrating moisturizer. I recently got an AHA lotion that I'm patch testing to be sure it doesn't irritate my skin before beginning usage. Would a BHA be better for my skin type?I think I need vitamin e (?) oil for scarring, what is the best product for this that is not likely to upset my skin further? Also, is there anything I can do about my ginormous pores?Sorry for ranty post, just at a loss here and don't know where to go! Thanks in advance :)

[Skin Concern] Dimpled pores: Repairable or just Age?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I have fairly smooth skin aside from my "WTF, Mate" forehead crinkle due to my inability to control my eyebrows and the occasional zit. I'm usually oily and quite shiny. Over the past year I've noticed the skin between my eyebrows has started taking on a dimpled look around each pore. My forehead, cheeks, chin, etc. are not like this. Its starting to spread to the sides of my nose/cheek area. I'm wondering if this is just my skin naturally aging (My mom's looks like this) or if there is something I should be doing to smooth it out. Is there anyway to "fill them in?" A simple primer works, but that is just makeup.I currently wash, tone, and moisturize in the evenings, use a scrub once a week, mask once a month (Either moisturizing or drying depending on what I have going on) and use a cold water rinse, stridex pad and SPF moisturizer in the mornings because sleep over everything.Example: http://www.healthylifespot.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/Superb-Tips-On-Shrinking-Large-Pores.jpg

[Routine Help] Do I need to wait after applying AHA/BHA to moisturize?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I know that the pH of AHAs & BHAs need to be at a certain low level for it to work and I'm thinking that moisturizers have a regular higher pH. I'm not sure how the layering of products work wrt pH levels and if moisturizers change the level of the stuff under it. Additionally, if I wash my face with a cleanser of pH 5.5 and then I use Sunday Riley UFO (unsure of what the pH is but it has salicylic acid in it), how will the pH of my face change? Won't my face be at the pH level of 5.5? I'm a little confused :(

[Acne][Routine Help] My routine is pretty good, but why is my acne still this bad?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hey everyone- this is my first time posting, so I'm sorry if I miss anything!I'm currently in college, and I've had acne since middle school. In the past few years, though, I feel like my acne has gotten pretty bad. I've tried tons of different products and routines, but I feel like after reading SCA, I have a pretty good routine.AM: Purpose cleanser > Cerave PM > Biore Watery GelPM: Purpose cleanser > Stridex / Nip + Fab extreme > Cerave PM > BP or tea tree oil for spotsOther: Twice a week I use the Pixi Glow Peel pads (20% glycolic acid) / Queen Helene maskI'm also on a low-dose birth control.Pictures of my acneObviously though, my acne is still really bad. My forehead is relatively clear, barring some acne scarring and a really stubborn pimple/cyst that won't go away. I feel like no matter what I do, I'm still breaking out all over my cheeks, which causes acne scarring and really bad PIH. I literally don't know what to do anymore, so any routine advice would be great.I recently switched over to Stridex from PC Resist BHA, since I don't have a job right now and I need to save money. I've also been trying to use cheaper products, so keep that in mind if you can. Thank you much!

[Acne] Huge improvement lately after adding a few supplements to my daily routine.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
So after reading a bunch of posts on this Sub and trying out many of them, this is what has worked for me. I started taking chromium picolinate, MSM, and activated charcoal. The idea behind the chromium is that it lowers blood sugar spikes and keeps bacteria from growing. The MSM has a ton of skin health benefits and helps prevent acne.and I think the most dramatic improvement was when I added activated charcoal supplement to my diet 500mg every other day. It kind of upsets my stomach so I try to take it later in the day after I have eaten dinner. Also don't take within 2 hours of taking the other supplements because it will bind to literally everything in your stomach and take the benefits away from the other supplements.I have also found that my acne seems to be almost exclusively concentrated around my nose and sinus areas. So I started using a nasal rinse twice daily. All of these things combined with the normal benzoil peroxide cream have dramatically reduced my acne. The Charcoal is crazy. It reduces even the acne that doesn't really come to a head but just stays hard under the skin. I have a history of kidney stones and sensitive respiratory system. So my theory is that the charcoal is helping remove a lot of the toxins and wastes that my kidneys suck at removing. And the nasal rinse cleans out my sinuses from bacteria that create acne on my nose and surrounding areas. And then the chromium reduces the food for the bacteria (sugar). And then the MSM supports all of that plus skin regeneration.Hope this helps some people out there who struggle. I know how awful it can be to have to stare your insecurities in the face every day. This has been one of the hardest battles I've had to fight in my life besides heroin addiction (2 years clean).Good luck guys. Also if you have the funds Epiduo and Differin actually work. Although the former is extremely expensive without insurance.

[Acne][Hair Removal] Why do I sometimes get pimples after tweezing my brows?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
By "sometimes" I mean a couple times a year. 9 times out of 10 I have no reaction after tweezing or using an eyebrow razor. I use the same tweezers and same type of razor every time. But every once in awhile (like right now!) the areas where I removed hairs are not happy and I end up with small, sometimes quite deep and/or swollen pimples. I have one right below my right brow -- mostly gone now -- that never came to a head but caused a significantly sized area of swelling and tenderness. I have another at the inside edge of my left front now that showed up last night and did a real number on a HCB. Gross. I popped more, thicker gunk out of it this morning (using q-tips). I can tell it's going to need at least two more nights with a HCB.So what gives? What can I change in my brow shaping routine that doesn't cause issues 95% of the time?

[Skin concerns] Periodically "mosquito bite like" spot on face
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hello everyone!I have something weird going on my face from time to time. I didn't have this before but since a few months I'm having these issues below:Weekly I have these red spots on my face that come out of nowhere during the day. Sometimes they look like mosquito/spider bites. Mostly on the side of my face. It's itchy and after an hour it's starting to diminish and it's almost gone.examplesThen I have something else, but it's similar only bigger and more annoying. They appear more frontal on my face (chin, nose area). These don't itch but they are big and disappear after an hour or something as well. They look like big mosquito bites but they are not:examplesWhat is this? Is this some allergic reaction? Someone experienced this before? It's really annoying and it's kinda hard to go to a doctor with since they are gone after an hour or something, so I can only show pictures. Thanks for reading.

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi everyone!! First time poster to this sub! I wanted to share with you all how I (finally) got my acne under control after years of struggle. I have always had combination skin. My really terrible acne began as an adult and for several years no matter what I did it got worse and worse. It was creating scars and the bumps were a mixture of the under-the-skin type and these huge mountains that no makeup would completely cover. I tried proactive and every other product out there short of those prescribed by a dermatologist. As a last ditch effort before going to see a doctor, I decided to just mess around with some things on my own. Here is what worked for me: 1. I switched my soap to a bamboo charcoal bar soap made by the Healing Tree. I use this twice a day. 2. I switched my moisturizer to Avalon Organics Intense Defense with Vitamin C oil-free moisturizer. I apply twice a day after washing. 3. Every other day (while my acne was its worst), directly after washing my face, I used a face mask I made myself. I bought some activated charcoal caplets and I would break one open and mix the charcoal inside with a few teaspoons of raw honey and several drops of teatree oil. I would spread this all over my face and leave it for about 20 minutes, then use some paper towels and water to wipe it off. Then I would moisturize. After a few weeks I noticed MAJOR improvement. It seriously fixed everything. Occasionally, I still get a bump here or there, but I no longer consider myself a person "with acne". My face is almost 100% clear almost 100% of the time. I rarely even need the mask anymore except to spot treat an area occasionally. I realize that what worked for me may not work for everyone else but if nothing else is working for you, give this a try! If it helps I would love to hear about it. Good luck on your journey to clear skin!

[Acne] Zinc soap or AHA to help closed comedones? Product Recommendations?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
For the past year and a half or so I've had some pretty bad closed comedones on my cheeks. They're starting to spread to my chin and temples as well as some on my forehead and I really need to update my whole skin care routine. Im currently using the Shea Moisture African Black Soap Problem Skin Facial Wash and Scrub along with the Problem Skin Toner. I've tried just about everything from the drugstore with no luck. I've been reading this reddit about different ways to treat closed comedones and I've found that zinc soap and AHA are both good candidates. Which one do you guys think I should try first? (my skin type is normal to oily) And if you had any product recommendations that would be great too! Thanks!

[DIY] With the weather changing, my face is getting somewhat dry and I would love your thoughts on a DIY facial oil.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I have an oily t zone with dry/ flakey eyelids. The rest of my face is normal, besides a dry patch on my left cheek. I switched from a gel moisturizer to the cerave moisturizer in the tub. My under eye area and eyelids were really sensitive for a while, even using the cerave moisturizer made my face sting fora while. It is getting better. I think I had a bad reaction to a foundation. I use an oil cleanser, then a foaming cleanser to get rid of the oil. Then I use the cerave moisturizer, and after that I use epiduo. I was about to buy the ABH face oil but the price is too steep for me so I researched how to make a DIY facial oil. I want to buy jojoba oil, argon oil, borage oil, grapseed oil, tamaru oil, lavender essential oil, and Frankincense Essential Oil. What do you all think? I want to combine the jojoba oil and argon oil to be 2/3 of the final product, use small but equal amounts of everything else besides th essential oils, then just use a few drops of the essential oil. What do you think about this? Since I am buying all of this stuff, I thought it would be a great little gift for my friends and family. thanks!

[Personal] Hindsight... Overexfoliation
Beauty Tips For Body Care
So, a bit of backstory. I have some cystic hormonal acne, with texture issues and hyperpigmentation. I'm on prescription tret, 0.025%, it's never caused me any problems before this episode. In fact I was thinking of asking my dermatologist to up the %. They also give me a basic aqueous cream to use with it when I was dry and flaking a bit longer back. The derm insisted that these two products were all I'd need. Basically I was using these two products every night and just the aqueous cream + sunscreen in the morning. I'm also using BC (Estelle-35) for acne. Then a few months ago (around June/July), I started flaking REALLY bad. Like if touch my fake and realise my foundation was pilling up and gross af. I didn't know what to do and used a peeling gel. All was okay, even better since my skin was smoother, and makeup went on better. A few weeks later, my face started to tingle whenever I put the products on. ??? Meh, figured it was normal. My face started to get shiny, but it would always be dry to touch. Confusing, used even more mattifying products. A few more weeks later, my face would sting, sometimes so bad that I'd tear up from the burn. At this point I got even more cysts in places I don't usually have them - jawline, spreading to the neck. (Which was horrible for my self esteem especially since it was a high stress period for me and I got into a new relationship lol) So I thought, the tret must be losing its efficacy. I would put even MORE on. And I'd get more cysts, burning, shininess and flakiness. Rinse and repeat. Finally, my tube of tret ran out with how much I was using it. I panicked but thought, okay, I'll just hold on and wait until my next appointment. In the meantime I searched and searched about what to do. Somehow someone was giving a lecture about water hydration vs oil moisture and it suddenly clicked. Wtf have I been doing to my skin?????? The moment I was able to, I got myself hydrating products, threw the god awful aqueous cream to a dark corner and used less tret when I got my next prescription. Honestly I don't know what I was thinking before!TLDR: don't blindly listen to your dermatologist. You know your skin/self better.
