Beauty Tips For Body Care
Could that be causing my acne? I read that allergies cause break outs. I only breakout on my right cheek and my nose. That's it. I change my pillow case every two days.

[Skin concern] [Routine Help] Feelin' sad about red pimples/acne, can't seem to find a solution.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hello all!I have learned a lot from this sub, and I like you people. So maybe you can help!I have had trouble with acne/pimples and redness on and off for years. I have gotten some form of control over my face, while I don't think I've ever had severe acne, I feel like I always have to wear cover up and I feel SO self conscious about my face. I feel extremely sad and afraid to take my cover up off even when I am at home with my fiance. In general, my problem areas tend to be my forehead, nose/areas near the side of my nose, upper lip, and definitely my chin.My routine:Morning: Wash face with water, sometimes Thayer's Witch Hazel instead (started Thayer's a week ago), moisturize with CeraVe moisturizing cream (been using for a long time and has helped).Night: Wash face with jojoba oil (Started about a month ago), CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser, Stridex pads, St. Ives Exfoliating Pads (nearing the last of my supply, RIP) and sometimes Thayer's Witch Hazel, and then moisturize. Sometimes I spot treat with a Target brand benzoyl peroxide which probably isn't good stuff. Once a week for 2 weeks I have been using a Dead Sea Mud Mask.I've been using the Stridex, St. Ives, and CeraVe products for a long time now, like a year or so. Sometimes I feel like I'm using too much stuff. Although I think using at least some of this stuff has definitely improved my situation from what it was. My forehead has gotten a lot better than what it has been. Also, I am fighting not popping pimples, which I have been doing pretty well about but definitely need to work on that terrible habit as well. It doesn't seem to be getting worse from any of these things, just not better...maybe I am doing too much for no reason. And, while I try to use fragrance free laundry detergent and change my pillowcase once a day or so, and try not to touch my face, I mean, we can't avoid EVERYTHING in the environment, so I try not to drive myself crazy with that.I feel like I am driving myself crazy, though. My chin has NEVER been clear or close to clear, is always spotted red and has what I think are closed comedones, and my upper lip and sides of my nose have been terrible. I can't remember an instance of not wearing cover up. I also get a lot of "underground" pimples. Here are pictures from today:http://i.imgur.com/wKfE5gb.jpg http://i.imgur.com/rtdMIgE.jpg?1 http://i.imgur.com/9pfH1PT.jpg?1I just feel helpless and that I am throwing money and energy away on something that isn't benefiting me. I would go to a dermatologist but I am also in medical debt for other unrelated things and I don't think I can afford to go to a dermatologist at this time. All this has been wearing on me for a while and I am at a loss. I am sad.Any help would mean a lot. :)

[Acne] I have had closed comedones for nearly a decade. So what am I doing wrong?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Like it says on the tin. I have closed comedones for as far back as I have been paying attention to my skin, at LEAST since high school (AKA at least eight years.) I don't like them. I don't want them anymore. They are bad tenants. I mean, they are essentially invisible in most light, but they give my face the texture of a popcorn ceiling. And no one likes a popcorn ceiling. Here are pictures of one side of my face. (Warning: gross.) The CCs are on both cheeks. Almost none on my chin, or forehead, or brow. Just... the cheeks. They stop about half an inch from my hairline, so I SUSPECT they are aggravated/fed/created/whathaveyou by product I use but I'm not sure.THE JOURNEY:JAN 2014 - I start lurking /r/skincareaddictionFEB 2014 - I try the oil cleansing method for a few weeks and it makes my skin feel SOFT A. F. but I feel no difference in comedones at all.MAR 2014 - my sister, who owns healing crystals, tells me to rub half a lemon on my face. I laugh at herAPR 2014 - I try using CeraVe last year and it breaks me out like crazy (but that's before I knew what purging was, so maybe it was secretly helping...?)MAY 2014 - I decide to give up on my pasty boulder of a face and stop trying new thingsJUN 2015 - I decide that even pasty boulders deserve love, and start using a BHA (Stridex pads)OCT 2015 - dismayed at the lack of progress, and hearing that AHA is better for comedones, I start using Alpha Hydrox Enhanced Anti-Wrinkle Lotion 10% glycolic acid. The AHA has had no effect in 6 weeks. I'm not purging and the comedones aint shriveling up and falling off, either. How long should this take to have an effect? What if they've been there for a reallllly long time and are firmly entrenched? My skin type is: dry.I get the occasional pimple's pimple (red and round and white on top) but those are pretty perfectly aligned with my cycle and I'm honestly not concerned about those unless they're somehow related to the closed comedones. Then I care.Routine: AMSplash water on my facewash with up&up Gentle Skin Cleanser for Sensitive Skin. Supposedly comparable to Cetaphil Gentle Skin cleanser, but it seems Target has discontinued it. Here are the ingredients. [Water, cetyl alcohol, propylene glycol, sodium lauryl sulfate, stearyl alcohol, methylparaben, propylparaben, butylparaben]moisturize! CVS Daily Facial Moisturizer (SPF 15) (the box was all, "compare to Cetaphil® Daily Facial Moisturizer" and i was all, "neat, a sale item") linkRoutine: PMwash with again with up&up Cetaphil knockoff in shower3x a week: Alpha Hydrox Enhanced Anti-Wrinkle Lotion linkmoisturizer again! CVS Daily Facial Moisturizer (SPF 15)link10% Benzoyl Peroxide, CVS brand linkMakeupL'Oreal Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream linkL'Oreal Trumatch Mineral Foundation linksois there something obviously comedogenic here that i'm missing? was I callous to laugh at my sister's half-a-lemon? do I need to just be like "alright, time to go to the doctor" and go to the doctor?i appreciate any advice/crit!

[skin concern] started using retinoid, lots of acne, am I purging or is this irritation?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I have sensitive reactive skin and have finally kept myself to 1 or 2 blemishes a month with the following routine:AM - tone with a homemade green tea + rose oil toner - MUAC moisturizer with SPFPM - remove makeup with organic baby wipe - gently scrub skin with wet washcloth - moisturize with a mix of aloe and organ oilSince I am now 33, I would like to begin using a retinoid to prevent wrinkles. I added in this product from MUAC every other night: http://www.makeupartistschoice.com/Retinol-30--Anti-aging-Sun-Damage-Adult-Acne-Minimize-Pores_p_170.htmlMy skin started breaking out pretty much immediately, I scaled back to applying every 3 - 4 days and have stopped using it for over a week now but I am am still getting new breakouts. Is this purging or a reaction?I am getting blemishes in areas where I have had blemishes in the past but have not had for years, I am also getting blemishes in places I have not had them before.Any help or stories from your experience would be appreciated! Not sure if I should keep going and try this for the full 6 - 8 weeks or just stop using it.

[product question] How long until I see results with Cerave Foaming Cleanser?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
For the past three weeks, I've been using the foaming cleanser, and it has either done nothing visibly, or perhaps even has been the cause of my recent pimple breakouts.Should I keep using it, or just stop at all?

[Skin Concerns] Back filled with spots and discolouring.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi reddit.Ever since I could remember my back has always been looking mashed up. I’m currently 23 and it wasn’t till like 3months ago I started actually doing something about it. If I was to diagnosis myself, I say its backne or scars from backne? I used Neutrogena Body Clear Body Wash every time I showered and then switch to OxeDerm Body Care Wash Gel. This was done by squirting some a loofah then scribing my back I the showers. I feel like it made it a bit smoother (maybe placebo effect) and the redness reduced but my back is still an eye sore.I went to the GP but they said if it doesn’t hurt or cause problem to function day to day activities they wouldn’t refer me to a dermatologist because it be for cosmetics. Going to a private dermatologist is my final plan, but before doing so I like to ask reddit do anybody else have a similar problem or if you folks any good product to sort this out. Here are some pictures.http://imgur.com/a/oeSr3Thanks in advance.

[Product Question] I recently started Retin A and Duac, is it normal for my skin to burn?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi! I recently started with a new dermatologist because of bad acne and I am using Epiduo 0.1/2.5% the morning and Retin A 0.05% at night but it has started to burn. My acne has drastically reduced in just one week and I am really happy about that but it has started to burn anytime I put anything on, even sunscreen. I've read dryness is normal but I do not have too much dryness, it just hurts. So anyways I would love to know if I should be worried and how have these worked for you? Thank you.

http://imgur.com/a/jIpL5I feel like this scarring really impacts my looks and makes me kind of unattractive. It doesn't seem to get better with time because I've had them for almost 3 years. [Skin Concerns] Men's recommendations - chronic ingrown hairs
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I'm looking to throw some nice(r) products in my husband's stocking, to help him manage primarily ingrown hairs on his face but also acne. I'd like products that are budget affordable going forward for him so that, if he likes them, he can keep buying.(I searched and read the FAQ and the Wiki and I'm sure this gets asked a lot and has been answered before, but I just can't find something on point.)They needn't be mens-specific products, though I am aiming for shave related products to prevent bumps, irritation, pore clogging, etc. He's begun using my Alba face scrub once a week and his skin is noticeably better. He'll do a face mask or peel with me from time to time, and prefers peel off.I've got the following in a cart at Kiehl's but they are a bit above our day-to-day price point:Ultimate Man Razor Bump ReliefUltimate Brushless Shave Cream - Blue EagleFacial Fuel Energizing Tonic for MenKiehl's is doing $20 off $65+ today for cyber monday, so I'm getting a do-able price of $50 for all three. But I want to make sure that's a good value and worthwhile products.

[Acne] Will I purge again if I start azelaic acid? Already on retinoids, and almost acne free, but with a lot of PIH that does not fade away.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Will I purge again if I start azelaic acid? I already use retinoids (adapalene), my acne is almost gone, but PIH does not want to go away. I use Vitamin C, AHA, Niacinamide too, but they remain.I read that PIH can persist on more dark skinned people, I have pale olive skin, and I'm not exactly white (Turkic, I guess). [Skin concerns] My pillow hurts my face
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I don't know if this is the right place or not, sorry if it isn't. My pillowcases seem to really be hurting my face. It feels really, really, abrasive and painful when I put my face on them. And like, when I wake up in the morning, my face feels like it's been rubbed raw. They're just your stock standard pillow cases. I was thinking about getting some silk ones, but I don't know if they'd be okay to use. Also, I keep getting a build up of dry skin on either side of my nose, near my cheek area, no matter how much I moisturize, I can like, scrap off a layer of dry skin. What advice would you give me to deal with this? I usually use Cetaphil for oily skin face cleanser and moisturizer.

[Acne] Aztec Bentonite Mask and Honey Oatmeal Mask
Beauty Tips For Body Care
so I'm using the bentonite mask everyday (I'm 7 days in) and I moisturize after with jojoba oil, after last night was the first time I noticed a little dryness. I currently have an oatmeal and Manuka honey mask on my face. would it be okay to use the bemtonite mask everyday and an oatmeal mask everyday? would they compliment each other or work against each other? I use the bentonite mask at nigh before bed and then about mid day use the honey and oatmeal mask, should I just put the oatmeal/honey mask on after the bentonite and sleep with it on? does this sound good? Edit: also, should I cook the oatmeal first with hot water or just blend it till it's a fine powder

[Skin concerns] Please help guys, I'm very very low.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I've been treating my acne for years and have seen countless dermatologists and ingested loads of antibiotics. I used benzoyl on and off for a couple of years and it left some faded marks on my left cheek. I read up on things online about how to reduce them so began with the Nib and Fab AHA pads and a vitamin C serum a few months ago. I started to break out again, so I went back to a dermatologist who prescribed me with tetryacycline twice a day. It cleared me up, sort of, but these marks remain and more visible than ever. Now, as of today, my face is worse than it's been. I have more marks, now on both sides of my face and every time I break out, a spot will take months to disappear. I'm completely lost, I broke down in tears in the doctor's office this morning who said all she could do is refer me back to another specialist, in January. Nobody has told me what I have and how to combat it. I feel like I've made things worse by using the AHA pads and occasional use of salicylic acid, (Paula's Choice BHA made me look like a burn's victim) My routine is as follows for both AM and PM: Simple foaming cleanser / Aloe Vera Gel as moisturiserI occasionally use a microdermabrasion NO7 scrub but again, with no results. The last derm prescribed me with ISOTREX gel but I'm terrified of using it incase it makes me even worse. Will it? I have the La Roche Possay Anti Red Mark treatment too but again I'm reluctant. I wish I could go back to how it was before I started playing around with AHA's :( I feel horrible. This is really stressing me out now, I need help and suggestions, fast :( ;(Here's some pics - http://imgur.com/JsWYLbq http://imgur.com/owi4IjF

[Skin Concerns] I get tiny warts (I think?) in the crease in my neck area.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
So first of all, gross. And they're itchy sometimes. Located only on my neckMy skin is fairly normal except for hormonal acne around my temples, chronic bacne and KP on my arms. My face/neck area is typically clear. When I was a child my Mom had them and I remember her saying she didn't have them removed anymore because they come back anyways. Sometimes she cut them off herself with scissors or janked them off with tweezers. Sorry for making you feel uncomfortable when reading this! What is the name/cause of this? What can I do? I can't easily go to the derm because my GP thinks it's a unnecessary luxury.

[Misc] WORST Lighting for Acne Scars/Marks But the best for measuring results
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hello SCA.So recently I've just found the absolute worst lighting to see your acne scars/marks in, but the best for measuring results. I thought I'd share it with you all so you could accurately measure your progress and figure out what parts of your face needs treatment. And that would be to go into your bathroom, turn off all the lights, and grab your iphone flashlight and shine it on your face. This way, you are able to see every single flaw on your face.If you really wanna see the depth of your scars, position the flashlight like this:http://imgur.com/YEKkQGAAs if it were super close downlighting. If you wanna see it from another persons perspective, simply grab a smaller mirror and position it away from your face, then look at the reflection through your primary mirror onto the secondary mirror to ultimately see your face from another persons perspective. My mothers friend is a dermatologist, and she gave me this idea. Hope I helped you out!

[Acne] How long does it take for deep closed comedones to go away or surface?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I used for about a year products with fatty alcohols/acids that really clogged my chin and cheeks. I removed those products in mid-August, and haven't had the moderate cystic acne I was experiencing when using those products, so that's a good sign. I'm just wondering how much longer it will be until the acne I can feel from the inside of my mouth will go away. It doesn't hurt -- I just hate knowing it's there. This assumes no treatment at all, besides a cleanser and moisturizer.

[Product Question] Is it true that your skin will become dependent on benzoyl peroxide?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I was looking through BP recommendations in the SCA wiki and checked out the first item on the list on Amazon, Acne.org Treatment. I was about to buy it, but I decided to check the reviews first even though it had an average of 4.5 stars. To my surprise, the top rated reviews were all one stars. A lot of them mentioned developing a dependency on BP. Is this true?

[Review] An interesting and skin-friendly shaving "soap" new to the US
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I post more frequently at /r/Wicked_Edge, a forum for traditional shaving, which includes the use of true lather. "True lather" is what I call a lather made with a shaving brush from shaving soap or shaving cream and water. The consensus is that, in terms of shave quality and enjoyment, it goes like this:Worst: cartridge razor + canned foamBetter: DE razor + canned foamBetter yet: cartridge razor + true latherBest: DE razor + true latherObviously shaving soaps and creams vary in quality and price and ingredients, and they do include fragrance-free variants.I have long been a fan of Otoko Organics shaving soap, reviewed here by Bruce Everiss. When that review came out (four years ago), I immediately ordered some, and I found I like it a lot: an interesting, effective, and stiffish lather, with a fresh, clean scent from the ingredients (no added fragrance). And the ingredients! [The Otoko Organics website](http//otoko.com.au) mentions:Jojoba extractDeionized waterProprietary no-ionic surfactants derived from soy and cornAloe veraGlycerineAnd, on another page, the site says:Made from 100% organically grown natural coconut, palm, soy and jojoba oil with aloe vera and pear essence, Otoko Organics contain only cold pressed organically grown plant extracts and the highest quality plant essences. For some years I've been trying to convince some US shaving vendors to include Otoko Organics among their offerings. A colloidal chemist created the stuff, skipping the traditional soapmaking step of using caustics (sodium hydroxide and/or potassium hydroxide) to saponify the fats. Thus Otoko Organics is in a sense not a soap, although it comes in a tub, is firm to the touch, and with a brush and very little effort makes a mighty fine lather for shaving.Just recently I finally did talk a vendor in the US to carry the product; he imports it in small quantities from Australia. If you have skin concerns, I do urge you to consider traditional DE shaving, which most find better for their skin that cartridge razors and canned foam. And if you do switch to a true lather, I think Otoko Organics is well worth a try for those protective of their skin. This is the new US vendor, with whom I have no relationship other than as customer and someone who pleaded that he carry this shaving "soap." My role is to write about shaving and review shaving products (which I buy: I avoid freebies). If you do take up traditional shaving and previously have shaved using cartridge razors and canned foam, take care to avoid the four most common mistakes cartridge shavers make when switching to a DE razor.

[Skin concerns] What effective and safe products are there for skin lightning for scars and bikini area?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi everyone, I have some scars I developed on my face after I got some acne this summer and started skin picking without really realizing it. My forehead has some spots now and I'm so embarrassed by it I just keep my hair in bangs. I've heard about hydroquinone being an effective skin lightner but i also heard it could potentially be dangerous. Also, TMI, I was also looking into lightning for my bikini area, specifically around the butt cheeks. It's something I've become really self conscious about and want to try to fix, or at least even out the skin tone. Is there anything I can do for these issues that is relatively safe and will actually work? Thanks for any input!

[skin concerns] excessive Arm Pit sweat
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi, I don't know if this the correct subreddit for this subject but either way, I have excessive Arm Pit sweat to where it goes through my shirt and leaves pit stains. I don't understand why I have this, I shave my pits I have a good diet and I'm not overweight. I live in Florida where the humidity is very high and hot. But it's winter now and that doesn't apply anymore and I still have these problems. It's embarrassing to the point that I try not to lift my arms at all from it . I am 15 and do not know if this would be anything to do with puberty. Please help :)

[acne] wanting to stop tretinoin
Beauty Tips For Body Care
My journey is similar to many others out there: had acne for about 7 years ever since I was around 13 (oh by the way I'm a male) . Tried many things including seeing a dermatologist who has given me many things including accutane twice. All of this has gotten me to having skin that I consider to be mediocre but much better than in the past. About 2 months ago I stopped taking antibiotics that were helping a lot because I had been on them for a while and that wasn't something I or the doctor wanted me to be on for a prolonged period of time. Other than stopping that my routine hasn't changed in a while. I wash morning and night with cetaphil antibacterial bar (recommended by the derm), morning I use a clindamycin lotion and a finacea gel which is azelaic acid (both prescribed) often times I follow these with cerave lotion because my skin still feels dry. Nights I go every other night tretinoin and cerave (I wait half an hour from washing to apply) and every other night a benzoyl peroxide spot treatment and cerave lotion. I used to use the tretinoin every night but it was too much so I cut back. I didn't notice my skin get worse when I cut back although I did when I stopped antibiotics. I would like to completely stop using tretinoin because of how dry, flaky, red, and irritable it makes my skin but I'm worried if I completely stop it will get worse. I have another derm appointment in a couple weeks and I was wondering if it would be better to wait and ask them or try and start slowly going off it so I can then use that change and move on from there with the derms help? I am planning, hopefully in the next few days, to get some tea tree, neem, and mineral oil to do ocm. Anyway that feels like it got long and rambling but thank you for any help and advice!

[Skin Concerns] Lifelong Eye-Bags/Puffiness in Young Male-Any Recommendations?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Twenty-two year old male here, I have had pretty bad under-eye bags/puffy area under eyes for many years now. They are pretty constant, and don't seem to vary with sleep, seasonal allergies, or stress. I have read the sidebar and done a decent amount of research, I am guessing that they are simply genetic. http://imgur.com/mRgrEhzDoes anyone have suggestions on products/ideas to try? Maybe something to tighten the skin up as well as color correct slightly? I have tried Nivea's Eye Roller Gel before but it didn't seem to help much.Any tips are appreciated. Thanks!

Hi everyone!I've just purchased some AHA and BHA products that I would like to add to my routine but I'm a new here and I'm not exactly what order they should be in to have the most effectiveness. Any other input or suggestions about my future routine would be appreciated.A little about me: 18 y/o female in college, mild to moderate acne with hormonal and stress flares, I also have a tendency to get cystic acne around my jawline and nose because I have PCOS. I would say I have combination skin leaning more towards oily, I find that my face gunks and clogs up really easily which is why I'm so excited about adding the AHA & BHA products to my routine. I have some scarring and pigmentation stuff too. I seem to scar really terrible, I have random big ass keloids popping up on my back even thought my acne really only affects my face and rarely chest. It's been biopsied, etc. and I'm doing cortisone injections to try to shrink them. Despite this tendency to scar, I don't seem to have too sensitive skin, and I've never had an allergic reaction to anything skincare or otherwise. My primary care doctor is the one prescribing a 1% clindamycin solution (liquid, not gel) that I'm supposed to apply morning and night, combined with an over the counter benzoyl peroxide cream. I use a micro exfoliant (Epice Purifying Exfoliant) two or three times a week in the shower.Okay so, I know that you shouldn't overexfoliate with AHA and BHA products, so three times a week my PM routine will look like this:∴ pūr~lisse soy milk cleanser∴ Cosrx Blackhead Power Liquid∴ St. Ives Exfoliating Pads∴ clindmycin phosphate solution∴ 10% benzoyl peroxide cream∴ Cetaphil Moisturizing LotionMy everyday AM and PM routine on days without BHA/AHA:∴ pūr~lisse soy milk cleanser∴ clindmycin phosphate solution∴ 10% benzoyl peroxide cream∴ Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion∴ Sunscreen (TBD) (and obviously not during the evening routine)Sorry if that's confusing, here's a picture that might be a bit clearerSo for my questions:Am I overdoing it on the AHA/BHA? Is three times a week too many?Should I use a less strong benzoyl peroxide cream (5% or 2.5%). I'm a little worried that it'll be too harsh with the AHA/BHA. Is that something I should worry about? Should I not do the clindamycin/BP on the evenings I'm doing the AHA and BHA?Is the order all good? I figured I should do the antibiotic (clindamycin) after doing the chemical exfoliants so it penetrates better? When should I do the physical exfoliant (Epice), if at all?Am I missing anything? Any recommendations, especially for sunscreen and moisturizer?

[Skin Concerns] Dark, scaly/rough spot after acne: hasn't gone away after a year!
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Usually after a bad breakout I get mild PIH, which goes away in a few weeks (I use hydroquinone as prescribed by my derm). However, I got one especially bad cyst about a year ago that left a dark, scaly spot that still hasn't healed. I've been using hydroquinone on it like crazy (as well as benzoyl peroxide and tretinoin gel to prevent breakouts), but it's not lightening or getting better at all. The spot/patch feels rough and scaly, and it's much tougher/flakier than the surrounding normal skin. Sometimes it peels a bit.My derm has told me to just leave it alone, but it isn't getting any better and it just destroys my self esteem when people comment on it :/ What is it? How can I get rid of it? It's not getting any bigger, by the way,.

This is the worst my skin has ever been? Emergency fixes? [acne]
Beauty Tips For Body Care
So I forgot to wash my face for 2-3 days and forgot to take off my makeup and my skin is reacting terribly! there is so much acne, it's so painful, and I can't help but pop everything, making it so much worse. it's super oily, but with really dry patches near the pimples. it's the really painful cystic acne that takes forever to heal too. any quick fixes or ways to get it back to normal? also, my doctor had debated whether I should go on accutane, but I'm not sure if it's right for me. anyone with experience and advice?

[Misc] Depression because of skin
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I'm so depressed because of my skin, it's affecting my entire life. I can't look at myself in a mirror and there is no fix. Cystic acne left my cheeks are so sunken and scarred that I can never be attractive again. I've spent over 3000 dollars on treatments and nothing has worked.I used to be optimistic, the acne was only temporary, I didn't know about scarring. I have to fake confidence everyday. I'm social, funny, I have many friends and people seem to enjoy being around me. Still I'm 22 and I've never had a girlfriend and I'm still a virgin. I've been rejected every time I showed interest in someone. All of my friends seem to have it good dating wise, although some just seem to use Tinder to find casual sex.My parents try to cheer me up by saying nobody will care about the scars, but I know it's bullshit. I don't blame others either, my face looks sunken, sick and tired. I know I have to carry on because what other options do I have? I'm failing university and most of the things I used to enjoy have become stale. Even if there is a cure with stem cell technology in the future I'll be so inexperienced with women anyway.I never talk about my scars in real life except with my parents, who are the only ones I open up to about how I truly feel. My friends describe me as confident but I don't think I can act that way much longer. This is like the biggest sob story ever, but I just had to vent. 2 years of acne ruined me... I'm just so alone.

[skin concerns] getting married in March. What should I do between now and then?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I am a early 30s female with decent enough skin and a minimal routine. I want to look as great as I can in four months when I get married. What should I do between now and then?My skin is fairly normal. In general, I think I look older than I used to but am not sure why. I have lifelong terrible dark circles that are likely allergy related. My skin is a bit wrinkly under my eyes and sort of puffy on my upper eyes. I have some fine lines on my forehead and my elevenes are getting to be pronounced. I get some congestion and texture issues but I don't really have a problem with acne. I get some congestion and I have some visible sebaceous filaments on my nose and chin. My pore are somewhat visible on my cheeks near my nose.My current routine is good but I don't follow it super religiously. I'm willing to try harder! AM: Stridex in red box, Cerave in the tub, Skin Food Aloe Triple Sun PM: Cerave Hydrating Cleanser, sometimes Alpha Hydrox 10% Lotion, sometimes Timeless 20% C + E + Ferulic Acid Serum, Cerave in the tubI think I need a lighter or more watery moisturizer under the Cerave. Also thinking about adding retinol? I have insurance. I'm willing to do some big things, like a peel or maybe even injectables, but I don't know where to start and don't want to take any big risks.Any insight would be appreciated! I want to look glowy and youthful on the big day.

[Anti-Aging] Looking for an informed discussion on the link between Minoxidil (Rogaine) and premature wrinkles.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi SCA,I'm a 24-year-old man interested in picking up Minoxidil to treat a receding hairline. I initially noticed my hair loss about two years ago, and immediately started a pill called finasteride to halt the recession. After some not-so-pleasant sexual side effects, I quit the pill and said "never again," planning to accept the Billy Corgan look as a fact of life. Two years later, I can still pull off a good, stylish haircut, and have honestly decided I'd like to keep things that way. I'm interested in starting Rogaine (minoxidil), but have read some scary stories online about the active ingredient's ability to inhibit collagen production in vitro, and even some horror stories about how irreversible wrinkles spontaneously emerged after beginning to use minoxidil.I'd like to know just how much truth there might be to these stories. Normally, I know to take these kinds of horror stories with a grain of salt, but the long-lasting sexual side effects I endured after taking finasteride make me hesitant to take any more gambles. I was very self-concious about fine lines in my late teens, and have only in the past year seen an improvement in my skin through better diet and skincare. I would be absolutely crushed if a new drug aged my skin. Can anyone give me a well-researched explanation of these skin aging side-effects that is neither dismissive nor sensational? Many thanks in advance!

[Skin Concerns] - My skin oxidizes makeup like crazy. Any ideas why?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi /r/skincareaddiction! So this is a bit of an off the wall question, but it's something I have been curious about.I've had this problem as far back as I can remember. I have extremely fair, cool toned skin with a teeny bit of pink. My skin tone is "ice princess" and has been my whole life. This makes this issue really super visible when it happens, to the point where people will comment on it. I also have chronic dry skin. When I was first wearing makeup, back at age 12 for musical theater, my face was orange by the end of the show. I had no skincare routine to speak of at the time, other than washing my face with body wash at night IF I remembered (I know, I know) so it wasn't a product interaction. In my early 20's, I started to get into makeup to wear for work and professional occasions. I discovered I still turned orange, but tried to hide it with a layer of stark white powder, which made me look super cakey. It looked exactly as awful as you're thinking it did.Today, I can minimize the problem with a silicone primer, but no matter what I'm always a shade or two darker at the end of the day. And if I forget that layer of silicone? I'm an Oompa Loompa by lunch. I've tried a variety of foundations, amounts of foundation (pack it on to so little it makes no difference), primers, cleansers, moisturizers, the Wayne Goss method, using blotting paper every hour, and no luck.Any ideas as to why this might be happening, and any tips on how to minimize it? Thank you!

[Routine Help] Need help selecting a moisturizing, antioxidant-rich serum.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hey there, I have sensitive, dry, closed comedone prone skin. This is my current routine:Olay Sensitive Skin Foaming Face WashAlpha Hydrox Intensive Serum-14% AHAHada Labo Gokujyun LotionSkinfood Royal Honey Propolis EssenceDr. Jart+ Ceramidin Cream-mixed with Clarins Radiance-Plus Golden Glow Booster (self-tanning drops)Just finishing up the Skinfood essence and felt pretty meh about it. Moving into winter I'd like to replace it with something more moisturizing and rich in antioxidants. It also has to fit into my routine without interfering with the effects of my moisturizer and self-tanner. I try to stick to fragrance free products. Budget could go up to around $60. Any suggestions?

[Personal] Low dose Accutane (isotretinoin) for oily skin (seborrhea): a 3 week log
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Background: When I first found SCA, I had two main concerns: acne (cysts), and oily skin. Cysts I have under control - mostly due to finishing puberty and taking good care of my skin, and for awhile, oily skin was less oily due to the fact that duh, dehydrated skin is a thing! However, my battle with seborrhea didn't end there. My skin got better for a little while by using better products and drinking more water, but all of those were rendered ineffective the moment I was in a humid climate. It didn't matter how much water I drank and how my cleanser didn't have SLS - I was still a greaseball about an hour into washing my face.As a teenager I had looked into Accutane some for oily skin, but never had the money to go to a derm. Lo and behold, I am now 21 and have insurance through my adult job, and finally made the decision to go in and ask for a low dose isotretinoin prescription. Please keep in mind that I have used other methods before finally coming to Accutane - tretinoin, peels, AHAs, BHAs - those were all great for marks, scars, and acne, but not for excessive sebum. I have also done excessive amounts of research looking into the consequences of Accutane (my derm was extremely concerned that I would want to get pregnant in the next two years - I have no such concern as I wouldn't want a kid in two years, am on birth control, etc), as well as research into using low dose isotretinoin purely for seborrhea. I printed out this journal article for my derm to take a look at, and despite its small sample size, he agreed that a larger sample size may not have been as easy to measure effects. We had both initially agreed on a dosage of 5 mg/day, but they had run out of 5 mg pills...so currently, I am on 10 mg/every other day for three weeks, then will go back for a check up and blood tests.TL;DR: actual oily skin, went to derm, low dose (10mg/every other day) isotretinoin for 3 weeks to combat it.I will start my first day down below, and will continually update this thread until the end of my three weeks.Day 1: Nov 27 I took it at the end of the day, so not much happened. I did observe that on Saturday my foundation didn't crack or fade as much as it used to, and that my skin took longer to get oilier (about 4-5h with only 1x primer, as opposed to greasy slick by hour 2, with 2x mattifying primers, powder, and a setting spray).

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I recently started using burts bees intense hydrating cream cleanser and burts bees acne toner which I'm really liking. Now my search is still ongoing for a hydrating moisturizer that will lock in moisture and won't dry out my skin, won't make me break out, and won't irritate my face. The problem is, I'm not sure where to find a budget friendly moisturizer that will do all of this for me. Any help would be appeciated :)

[Skin concerns] Huge (~2 cm) cyst, I'm in panic
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I am a compulsive skin picker, I know how bad it is, but for now it is like it is, so today I was picking on a big cyst on my forehead, I come home and see that it grew huge, it's really like 2-3 cm in diameter and I can't feel myself touching it. What should I do? I guess, stop touching it is a must, but what else? I read about putting a warm compress, is it a good advice? I never had something as huge on my face in my life so I'm literally almost crying right now, what if it grows to something people see in those horrible videos of giant zits? Or maybe I finally got an infection and now I'm gonna die?I'm 18, I don't use anything besides a mosturizer after every time I was my face with water. Really bad skin, all kinds of acne for years already.

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I've just returned from an outdoor camp that resulted in my face being ravaged by insect bites :-(I work retail, front line, and I'm thinking of using makeup to fix my face up (I need to get back to work ASAP). My eyelids are pretty swollen from the bites too, so tips for that would be very appreciated! (I actually have medication from the doctor's for inflammation and itch, but I need a more immediate solution, hence considering makeup)Any advice on what I should or should not put on my face so that it heals more quickly?crossposted from /r/makeupaddiction !!

[Product Question] Wanting to add Vitamin C to my routine but am so confused.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I've searched through the sub and a few websites but I'm left overwhelmed and confused. There are different types of Vitamin C's, yes? From what I've gathered, aa is the best (I know it's different for everyone and it's not exactly "the best" but I have to start somewhere and it might as well be the popular choice).I also need clarification regarding pH and percentages. What percent should I start at and should I build up to a higher one, or is it okay to start off high? As for pH, I'm pretty lost. Could someone please explain? And lastly, is vitamin C a serum of its own or am I to look for it in the ingredients list of other products?Thank you!EDIT: My god,--noob alert-- what is "OST"? I see it everywhere but can't find what it actually means anywhere.

[Product question] Having trouble hunting down Cerave in Europe
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hullo, I can't seem to find an online vendor that'd sell me Cerave's Skin Moisturizing Cream (or any other Cerave product) - Amazon.co.uk has it, but won't ship it to Finland. :( I bought my tub while travelling abroad, and I'm hopelessly addicted to it; any suggestions for replacements or different vendors would really be appreciated.

[Skin Concerns] Redness/bumps beneath eye
Beauty Tips For Body Care
So I've been having an ongoing issue with redness beneath one of my eyes (http://i.imgur.com/bC6tBOe.jpg). At first I suspected it had to do with keeping my contacts in too long, and it was possibly made worse by using retinol as the area was very dry. I stopped using anything for a day and it marginally improved. Then I went back to a basic ScA routine. I try to avoid the area, but today it flared up again and now there are two tiny white bumps (hard to see in picture).I searched for similar issues and maybe it's Milia? I don't know. Does anyone have any idea what I can do here or is it time to visit the dermatologist?

[Acne] Is my skin going to keep getting worse on Cilest?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I swapped from dianette (which made my skin perfect, I was given no choice but to come off it though, I didn't get a say) to marvelon a few months back and stuck with marvelon for almost three months, but it was giving me multiple big red spots that took ages to go away, so I swapped to cilest. I've been on cilest for about 10 weeks now and my skin is falling apart. Lots of little red spots all over my chin, around my nose, above my lip and between my eyebrows. Is it worth sticking with it for any longer or should I try something like yasmin?I've also been trying Clear Complexion Tablets and have been taking two a day for about 5 days - could this be causing problems to worsen too?

[Misc] My face hates everything. Anyone else like this?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
So to start off, I have relatively clear skin, a bit on the oily side, especially around the t-zone. It's not flawless - there's some redness, occasional pimples and bumps. Some PIH from all the stuff I've tried using, detailed below. But I'm pretty satisfied with how my face looks, at least until I get reeeaallyy up close and personal with the mirror. Now I'm starting to think I will never be able to improve how my skin looks, because just about everything I've put on it has caused some negative reaction.Cerave in the tub - broke me out. Mineral oil - broke me out. Cetaphil cleanser - made my skin rough with little bumps. Some AB low pH cleanser - broke me out almost immediately.Same goes for makeup. I've only ever tried BB creams and pressed powders, and pretty much every product has broken me out. Hell, this ONE time I put BB cream under my eyes and set it with a powder, and I got milia. I can't even imagine how foundation would be like.My current "routine" or rather lack of it is this: in the morning I wipe the oil off with some tissue. (Yes, that's it.) Then in the evening I wash my face very quickly with Cetaphil bar soap. Because apparently even rubbing or scrubbing my face too much seems to irritate it. I know, soap is bad, but I don't have anything better on hand.I think my face just wants to be left alone. But I want to experience glowy, totally smooth and healthy skin. I want to try moisturizing and pampering my face. Anyone else here with ridiculously sensitive but otherwise normal, clear skin? What products or ingredients have you found that work for you?

[Review] NZ skincare recommendations from the supermarket - Palmer's Gentle Daily Cleanser
Beauty Tips For Body Care
So idk if other NZers have the same problem as me but it sucks so much when I hear about a miracle product that is basically impossible to get here. I found this stuff at countdown about a month or so ago and I use it in the morning (when I'm in a rush and can't be bothered doing my normal cleansing method with honey). I am super impressed. Although it says foaming, it's definitely a creamy cleanser and is super gentle on my very irritable skin. Also deeply cleanses and mattifies (my skin is often irritable and oily).Just letting you know there's a generic + cheap product out there for us! And if you haven't yet - give the essano rosehip moisturisers a go, they're also pretty decent for the price.

[Product Question] Can I dilute my Nivea Creme for daytime?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
After a couple of breakouts I finally accepted that CeraVe/Cetaphil moisturizers are not the best for my skin. My last morning moisturizer was Cetaphil and for now I've switched to using Nivea Creme in the mornings, which I usually use at night. To be honest it's really calming my broken-out skin and I just wanna keep using it! But it's kind of heavy and sticky. Any ideas on how to dilute it so that it's more manageable in the morning? Maybe I should try mixing it with some kind of SLS-free moisturizer?

[Product Question] If Curology (Pocketderm) works for me, do I have to then use it for the entire foreseeable future to keep acne away?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I've struggled with acne for over a decade and after making little to no progress with the usual recommendations from this sub, I decided to give Curology (Pocketderm) a shot. So now my question is, if it works for me and my acne improves significantly, do I now have to pay $20 a month to this company for the rest of my life? I understand there may be a point where my skin might resolve on its own due to aging, hormonal changes, etc. and that I might argue the price is worth it to me at this point to have clear skin, but am I stuck with this company forever then? Is Curology a cure for my acne, or just a product I need to buy and use every day until I'm older and my skin decides to fuck me over with wrinkles instead of acne?

[Skin Concern] Can retin a caused increased facial hair growth??
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hey you guys :) I just started using retin a .05% about 3 weeks ago(haven't experienced peeling yet. I started off using it every two nights, but now im using it every other night.) and as of late, i've been experiencing increased facial hair growth. I know that its normal to have hair on the face, but it seems to be increasing and im worried because I want to continue using it, but im hesitant about removing the hair because I dont want to irritate my skin. Has any one else experienced this? I've had my hormones checked in the past because i can get kinda hairy, but everything seems to be normal...The hairs aren't coarse, or at least, in my opinion they're not--theres just a whole lot of them and i wanna get rid of them somehow. No mean comments please http://imgur.com/a/jEfnj

[Skin Concern] Trichostasis Spinulosa
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I've had to deal with acne all the way through highschool. It was only after I graduated that my skin started to clear up, except my skin was littered with blackheads - or so I thought.I've tried out countless acne products over the years, trying to battle these 'blackheads' but they would never go away. I desperately seek out a solution online frequently because my self-esteem is honestly pretty low due to my face having all these tiny black dots on them. They're mostly on and near my nose.I've read about Trichostasis Spinulosa and I think I actually have this. Unfortunately, dermatologists won't believe me and I'm at a loss on what to do. They keep prescribing me acne products that dry out my skin and don't get rid of the 'blackheads' anyway. They just stay the same, month after month.I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do at this point and I feel I'm stuck with this skin, which is really depressing me. Pore strips seem like a temporary solution but the supposed side effects terrify me. I just want a clear solution and I have no idea how to get one.

[Acne] Can we talk about hormonal acne for a sec?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I am a 27 year old woman who had general t-zone acne in adolescence. It cleared up with age and the addition of Yaz (started at 19 due to PMDD), and even when I stopped taking it at 24, the acne stayed away.... until sometime this past spring.Since then, every two weeks (coinciding with ovulation and menses, as tracked by my Clue app) I am greeted with flare ups that can go from four to twelve new breakouts a morning for two to four days. They range from small whiteheads to big, bullhonkin' cystic devils that hurt just when I think about them, let alone the idea or accidentally brushing against them when washing/getting dressed/pulling back my hair/whatever. They're located from the bottom of my jawline all the way up to my cheekbones, and I actually have a picture of a line of breakouts that you could put a ruler to, that's how perfect the line was.My routine has been tweaked and tweaked to address them, I've enlisted the help of pocketderm, I've added zinc supplements and evening primrose oil, ive tried a whole host of suggestions from other SCA'ers who were looking for help....sometimes it does help and sometimes my face just doesn't even care. My pillowcases are changed every other day so I don't sleep on the same surface twice... I've bought new pillows hoping that would help... and it does, as long as my hormones aren't in swing.I have an appointment with a derm in mid-january, since that's the earliest I could get in, and I have a script for BC that I've been holding out on for multiple reasons, the biggest one being that BC tends to make me anywhere from eeyore-depressed to suicidal. I've got finals and holidays-in-service coming up, and I really need to be on top of my game. I'm sure I'm also feeling a whole host of other hormonal affects as well as the acne (exhaustion for no reason, body aches, etc, etc) but I'm unwilling to chance the depression. I guess it's a "known evil v. unknown evil" kind of thing. Is there anything you wonderful folks have to suggest as far as something that might help as I wait out the next eight weeks? It seems like an eternity at this point and I'm losing my mind. Even my Pocketderm NP'S suggestions are echoing what I've done.Right now my routine looks like this:*Am: *splash water, every other day (especially when breaking out) I'll wash with clean&clear continuous control 10%BP face washLaFresh Good day day moisturizerWhen i wear makeup, it's Garnier Miracle-something bb cream (w/salacylic acid for acne prone skin) applied with clean hands and/or clean brushes.pm: OcM with J&J Baby OilNeutrogena Naturals face wash/makeup removerStridex Red Box PadPocketderm cream (4% niacinamide, 1%clindamycin, 4%axelaic acid)LaFresh Good Night night creamCold pressed, unrefined coconut oil over moisturizer (which, surprisingly, helps with the inflammation of the budding breakouts)Any suggestions on routine, or methods or really anything would be appreciated. I can also post pics later when I get home. Thanks in advance!

[Skin concerns] Thin layer of dead patched skin all of my forehead?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
A little background story: i saw this thing on the internet (surprise surprise) in which this article told me about this "no poo" thing where you don't wash your hair to reduce the amount of shampooing your hair. Well my hair got really really oily but i stuck to it. Washed my hair once a week for the next month but then my forehead started getting these itchy patches but i ignored that and still continued. After that month i started washing my hair normally but still got those itchy patches and it got even more itchy when i started to workout. anyone had this problem or tried the noo poo thing? I just wanted to ask before i go to the docs again. last time i went he prescribed me some antifungal cream for 12 days but no use. the cream honestly made my skin look great and also stopped the itchyness, but i still had this really tight feeling so i knew that thin layer of dead patched skin was still slathered all over my forehead. When i stopped using it some of the itchyness returned around my nose but not on my forehead. Also when i finished taking a shower the parts where it's affected me is really red and looks gross (Luke warm water). Previously i thought from just cleansing and moisturizing wouldve helped, but the symptoms always return. Had this for about 2 years I'd say and it's depressing me a little, shit.Edit: sorry for the bad grammar, on my phone

[Skin concerns] Mid-40s, battling acne for, oh, 30+ years and now aging and poor texture ... and desert living. I need help!
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Photo: http://imgur.com/uVaz3zJ (I have no idea if I've done that properly. This is my first post.)I've got quite possibly the most extensive anti-acne arsenal on the planet but I'm old now and things that used to help my skin (benzoyl peroxide and to a much lesser extent, retinoids) now leave me dry and dehydrated with horrible texture (large pores, hyperpigmentation). AHAs kind of work, too, but I can't find the right balance between proper exfoliation and too much exfoliation. If I go too heavy on the moisturizer, I get breakouts, too little (ex: gels) I get dehydration. Most recent regimen: Tazorac cream .05% about twice a week, Nivea cream to moisturize (yeah, I know it's heavy.) Cleanse with Pond's cold cream in the PM and micellar water in the AM.Paula's Choice products all break me out ... every. single. one.Have done salon peels with little success but I have the means to pay for others.Very sad and frustrated and would appreciate any help. I'm not even comfortable being in front of my man makeup free at this point ... and that's sad!

Need help, feel like nothing is working for me [acne] [m/19]
Beauty Tips For Body Care
http://imgur.com/a/JZ7q1I've been struggling with acne for a while now and have gone through good and bad phases. Right now it's a big struggle and I want to get rid of it once and for all. My temple area is what concerns me the most. My regimen is:Morning - shower, wash with cetaphil, use clindamycin on face.Night - wash again with cetaphil, use epiduo, dab jojoba oil on face.I have pretty sensitive skin. The epiduo and clindamycin were both prescribed by a dermatologist and I've been using them for about a year or so. I'm not sure if the regimen isn't proper or not. Any and all comments are appreciated! Thanks so much you guys are an awesome community!

[Acne] Slow Healing in the Winter?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Normally my red acne bumps start to fade away as soon as they raise up with a little bit of concentrated salicylic acid and my skincare routine but recently they've been taking forever to heal and I've been acquiring many new unwanted additions to the collection of acne I already have on my face. This is my first winter in Canada where I am currently studying and I am wondering whether it is because of the weather? Acne is forming but is also taking much longer to heal than normal despite drinking copious amounts of water and giving myself plenty of sleep time and exercise. If it is due to the weather is there anything I can do about it? Do i simply apply moisturizer twice a day? Help!

[Product Question] Can I use MUAC 25% Mandelic Acid peel with my PC 2% BHA and PC 8% AHA?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Right now I'm using the BHA in the morning and the AHA at night to help with my closed comedones. A lot of the CC's on my chin still remain and after hearing about people's results with the mandelic acid peel I decided to order it.How do I introduce the MUAC peel into my routine with my chemical exfoliants? Do I have to stop using one of the two? And also, how often should I be using the peel? Thanks!

I told sugar and flour to fuck off and this is what happened. [acne]
Beauty Tips For Body Care
TL;DR: My acne was bad and I stopped eating sugar-stuff and now it's not so badSo starting when I was around 14 I started getting some acne, nothing drastic just what you'd expect at that age. But slowly it got worse and worse, and by the age of 16 I was at that can't-even-make-eye-contact-with-you stage. Y'all know the drill.Anyway, during this whole time I (and my mom, bless her heart) tried everything I could to get rid of it. Absolutely everything Benzoyl Peroxide, AHA, ice, accutane, you knowwww.And here's the thing, I did accutane (not accutane, but whatever it's called now) for a while and it helped. A lot. It hurt my back like crazy though, and one time after falling asleep on the couch I woke up with back pain so intense I thought it would stay like that for eternity. Not fun. Then they want me to start another round but I wasn't having it. I tend to be really distrustful of pills, it's just part of my personality.Anyway it was at this time that I started eating cereal again. Before I had been eating oatmeal, just because I like plain things, but I started pouring some cereal in my oatmeal because I was missing it.And my acne just revolted, it was like Kronstadt all up on my face.So obviously I'm thinking there's some sort of link here. I'd heard whispers here and there that sugar was bad for your skin, and I just brushed it off. Sugar, bad for your skin?! Pah! You need sugar to live dum-dum. I can eat all the chocolate I want and it won't affect me, you know? But now I'm curious and I do some research. Long story short I decide I'ma go on a low-glycemic diet. I have a job, I can pay for my own food, so I do. No more cupcakes, no cookies, no candy bars, no bread or grapes, or yogurt, or cheese, or cereal etc. etc. Felt like a grumpy diabetic. Didn't really realize my choice would limit me so damn much.First thing that happened: I had to pee ALL THE TIME. Every few hours, and it was a lot. The urine was of the watery variety too. Felt like I pissed out gallons by the end of the week.Second thing: I started losing a lot of weight. Now, in my case I wasn't too happy about this. I'm a skinny dude already and losing weight didn't help much. Thankfully I didn't become anorexic-like or anything. But I did lose like 10 pounds in about two weeks.Third thing: THE ACNE STARTED TO RETREAT. Fuck yea, I said. Get the FUCK outta here I said. It wasn't some sort of miraculous cure, though, just a slow, gradual facial recovery. I was in high school at the time, and I'd been putting on cover-up (some people knew I did and it made me feel like absolute shit, but having my acne be visible made me feel worse, so oh well) so I got to feel the little bumps on my face, and now I can tell my face feels SO MUCH SMOOTHER goddamn. Yea I still had bigass zits all over, but where I don't have them? Feels like a baby's ass.Fourth thing: Tongue starts doing some weird shit. I didn't drink milk because my mom was convinced it was bad for me (I listened begrudgingly, but she was absolutely right.) I drank almond milk instead. Now with this diet I started drinking unsweetend almond milk, and it tasted TERRIBLE. But after a few days? It tasted not-so-bad. After a week? It was actually TASTY! And cucumbers were tasty. Fucking beets and CELERY, I looked at them and my mouth did that tingly thing it does when you want to eat what you're looking at. Cookies? Cereal? Brownies they're bringing in every damn day at school? They looked tasty too, sure, but in a different way, a gluttonous way, kinda hard to explain. Point is I started eating a lot more vegetables. I enjoyed the flavor. And yea, that's where I've been for a while. Still skinny as fuck, because working out makes me sweat and I don't want to take no chances. Still got a lot of red marks, which were going away until I started eating oatmeal again a few months ago, which I just said goodbye to. Point is, my face is better and I feel better. I still put on some tinted moisturizer, which doesn't make me feel that bad.So yeah, that's where I'm at. Now I'ma browse this sub to see what else I can do to fix these damn red marks.

[Skin Concerns] At what point do you guys decide to go to the doctor about skin issues? I don't about y'all but the doctors in my town make me feel like a waste of space, so I try to spread my visits out. It's hard to gauge what's normal and what's not.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I had a lot of health issues crop up last year, and I went to a few different doctors around 10 times in the whole year. Now I get the impression they think I'm a hypochondriac or something, as every time I see them it's a new issue, (but it's not my imagination). My town is in Canada, so wait times are awful, and sometimes it feels like if you're not spurting out blood then why are you wasting our time? (Don't get me wrong, I love our healthcare, but you're dealing with a lot of overworked medical practitioners who deal with plenty of hyper-reactive people).I had the sunburn to end all sunburns a few years ago, on shoulders that hadn't seen sunlight in years. For months afterwards the skin in those areas were almost rippled. Now I'm just left with some freckles and this raised patch of skin, about the size of a grain of rice. It's hard to capture from the camera, but it looks much bigger and is scored with four squares. Normally with skin issues I live and let live. But this one's kind of weird. I'm not sure if it's damage from the burn, or something worth checking out.Anyway, I'll probably just suck it up and ask the doctor for a referral to the dermatologist, but I have to wonder how many of you guys are in the same boat? Concerned about something, but wondering if it's important enough to deal with condescending and overworked medical practitioners. It's important to be your own advocate, but people here get a lot of flak for 'abusing' medical services.

[Skin Concerns] Large pores and blackheads, how can I brighten up my skin?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Ok so (my skin)[http://imgur.com/Lw7YKeR] isn't that bad, but it just looks kind of...sallow, waxy? And almost green.. With largish pores and lots of blackheads on my nose (not visible in photos).Something tells me it could look better.I've tried exfoliating but it tends to feel really harsh. I've recently used (this)[http://www.boots.com/en/Botanics-All-Bright-Purifying-Face-Scrub-75ml_1261971/].Can anyone recommend an exfoliator that I can really rub in without it feeling like it's tearing my skin?I also have a small red scar from a spot (I popped it..) from about two months ago, right above my top lip. Any tips on that?Thank you!Oh and I eat a pretty good diet, and I regularly swim and cycle.

[Skin Concerns] Does anyone have direct experience with combating pitted scars, whether through laser or other methods?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Like this. Not me, but I have similar pitted scarring. It sucks! My skin everywhere else is good. Does anyone have direct experience with successfully combating pitted scarring? If I have to pay a bunch of money on this with lasers, so be it -- but I'm scared even that won't help.

[Acne] Recurring underskin pimples on chin that leave dark pigmentation spots
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hello,I decided to turn to Reddit after being unable to find help elsewhere. For about 2 years, I've had a problem of pimples under skin. However, they are exclusive to a rather small area on my chin. I only have one of those pimples at a time. If it is left untouched, it can stay there for 7 or 8 months. The pimple does not form a whitehead, and just disappears, leaving a dark pigmentation spot.I started using Skinoren cream after going to a dermatologist because of the pigmentation spot that wouldn't disappear, and she advised me to use it on any other pimples that might pop up. I've been doing it ever since, and it did seem to work on smaller ones, however, it appears to be a temporary solution.Last month, a new large pimple under skin appeared (they can be around 5-6mm wide), and I went to get a face cleaning. After the procedure, the cosmetologist told me to buy Avene cleanser, which I've been using. During the next few days, I went through the process of the pimple forming a whitehead and then scabbing at least three times. It did get decreased in size a lot, though it didn't seem to have completely disappeared, so I went to see the same cosmetologist again. According to her, it wasn't a pimple, but an enlarged lymph. I had the face cleaning done either way. However, it doesn't seem to be helping, as a new pimple under skin started forming today.I'm feeling desperate, as the visits to the private clinic are rather costly, and don't seem to be helping with the root of the problem. Going to skin doctors at the regular, free clinic is out of question as the only thing they do is try to get over with the visit as soon as possible.I also tried teatree oil, which only works on open pimples, and I'm using Bioderma Sebium Hydra moisturizing cream, which the first dermatologist also told me to use. I don't wear any makeup, except for occasional lipgloss. Never had any real skin problems, apart from single pimples that rarely appeared and quickly went away. I'll soon be 19 years old, in case this information could help.I have a picture, though of a rather bad quality: http://i.imgur.com/J7Javur.jpg If the need was expressed, I could try to take a better one in the daylight tomorrow. In the top picture, I marked the spots that were affected by the problem, since it might not be clear due to the quality. On the left, the newly-forming pimple can be seen. On its right, the pigmentation spots are visible. The darker one is from the recent pimple under skin, while the faded one appeared after the very first pimple was gone.I'll add another thing, if I look closely at the mirror, I can see that some pores have that white stuff inside them, however, it's all under the skin, though I noticed that smaller pimples sometimes appear in those spots. Before going to pay for a visit again, I wanted to ask whether anyone had/encountered a similar problem, and could offer possible solutions. If there was anyone who could help me, I'd be grateful for it for my whole life.I'm sorry for the wall of text, I've tried to make it as detailed as possible, and didn't notice how the post got out of control.

[Acne] Question about antibiotic usage for acne
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hello everyone. 17 y.o. guy here. I've recently been to the dermatologist about my acne.I was told to use Zineryt, an antibiotic solution, made from erythromycin and zinc, twice a day.I've been using it for 5 days now, once in the morning, after cleaning my face with a cleanser, and once in the evening. I'm getting more breakouts though, is it temporary because of the solution, and will it go away during time (in the manual, it's written that acne will clear up mostly after 2 months) or is my skin reacting badly to the solution?

Now it looks like in developing two new spots right in the corner of my lips, on each side.Ive only seen these type of spots appear around my mouth. They've been permanent since they popped out.Does anyone know what it is? Or how to stop it?For now im just using concealer trying to cover them, but its really bothering me.http://i.imgur.com/PcnSJvo.jpg

[Skin Concerns] Flaky Eyebrows, what is this?!
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Here's a small album. Warning, gross pictures of my flaky eyebrows: http://imgur.com/a/UIrxrI think the third picture shows it the best (it's hard to take pictures of your eyebrows). I've been getting this weird flakiness in my eyebrows about every other day now for quite a while. At first I thought it was dry skin, but I've tried all kinds of things. Shampoo, Dandruff Shampoo, Lotion, Cortisone Cream, Eczema Cortisone Cream. Nothing really works.I also get a similar flaky patch of skin on the right side of my pubic hair.I definitely want to bring it up with the doctor, but I don't think my insurance covers a dermatologist. So I thought I'd ask here first.Appreciate it!

[Skin Concerns] Dark area on upper cheek
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hey, I've had a problem with ingrown hairs on my the sides of my face for a while now. There's also a dark patch/area close to my ears that you can see (it's even more clear when I shave) which looks awful tbh. I'm afraid this darker color will become permanent.I shave every 2-3 days and use a non-alcohol based gel.I shave against the grain because when I shave with the grain it's not really effective. To add to that, there's a lot of acne on 1 side of my face, not so much on the other.I don't really much of a routine but I wash my face with lukewarm water 3-4 times a day because I have oily skin. I use this cleansing gel (Uriage HYSÉAC Cleansing Gel) once in the morning and once at night.I'm 22/Male/Middle East.
