Beauty Tips For Body Care
http://imgur.com/a/4CfeDI have tried many things and just want a product with a good reputation and decent cost. I have several scars that seem to look much darker some days than others. Several are on my forehead and left cheek, but somehow right is fine. I tried a vitamin c and it helped a little but not completely. (Product was from Radha beauty which I was later told was a shady product....if this is the case, maybe I should try a different product....?). what will help rid acne scars? Based on what I have read, I am thinking an AHA or vitamin c oil. If you have suggestions, please include a trustworthy brand/link. I am thinking Paula's Choice as I have a coupon there expiring soon. Also, will a BHA help? If so, should i get stridex or PC?Also, I have a few lighter patches that have been on my left cheek for years. These also seem to be lighter somedays, standing out more. I have tried a few antifungal things (Lamisil and Ketoconazole for topic treatment) but never a pill. Only the ketoconoazole seemed to help a little but my skin had a bad rxn to this, which burned my skin a little. Any tips on what to try here as well? Thanks, any help is appreciated. This can be very frustrating and reduces my confidence, especially with some important meetings and interview coming up. I am willing to spend extra money for quality products, I just want this stuff gone or as close to gone as possible. But I am hoping I only need 2-3 products and can spend under $50. Thanks in advance. Let me know if there are any questions.

[acne] Why is one small spot on my face breaking out over and over
Beauty Tips For Body Care
There is one spot on my cheek that keeps developing acne right as one goes away, another starts, and it is creating PIH (or PIE, I can't tell the difference) and it is the worst. I already have these marks all over my neck and to have it now right on the front of my face is really getting me down. What do I do??? It's this side of my face that I sleep on that always is broken out and shitty. How can I make myself stop sleeping on it?? My youth is already gone and I can't take this.

[Acne] Trouble getting Retin-A (0.01) in Canada
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Do any other Canadians have this problem? Whenever I bring the script to the pharmacy they have to fax my doctor to change it... recently he prescribed Stieva-A Forte 0.1 and I got the last tube from the pharmacy. They said they don't know if the company will be making it anymore although apparently it hasn't been discontinued. Does anyone know more about this? Thanks!Edit: Sorry, mistake in the title - should say 0.1, not 0.01.

[acne] 28M - I think my acne nightmare is finally over.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I've had acne since I was 15, but around the age of 22 or so my acne went completely out of control. It was mainly on the lower half of my face around my mouth and it was extremely painful. I couldn't believe I was getting cysts along my lips, wow those were the most painful. I didn't care about the stuff on my cheeks and on my back because those were much less painful. I became really isolated - I hated waking up every single morning and having to drain whiteheads (so it looked slightly less horrible). I dealt with it and continued to go to doctors for 6 more years and eventually just completely gave up hope on everything. I attempted accutane twice but had horrible side effects. I remember that I felt like it would never end - I was trapped. I ended up quitting my job and started taking online classes so I could just be alone in my apartment and work towards my degree. Before (At my worst)NowMy dermatologist recently started me on some new products and I've had a lucky streak the past two months where I haven't really been breaking out at all. I haven't gone this long without breaking out since I was in my early teens. I'm starting to gain my confidence back and I have a much better outlook on life now.My current routine:Night:Wash with CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser.Apply Onexton all over except mouth/noseApply Epiduo around my mouth/noseApply CeraVe Moisturizing LotionMorning:Wash with SkinCeuticals LHA Cleansing GelApply Aczone (The new kind, 7.5% gel) to my faceSupplements:Source Naturals OptiZinc morning and nightOlive Leaf extract - morning and nightL-Theanine - morning for stressI was on Onexton for a very long time before other prescriptions were introduced. Aczone and the LHA gel seemed to have the biggest impact. The supplements had the second biggest impact.I was thinking maybe if there's someone out there with similar acne, you could try my routine and see if it works for you.

[Skin Concerns] How can chemical peels help with indented scars when they exfoliate the lower/pit area too? Could diamond tip microderm be better since the tip would not have to go into the scar divot area?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I am not talking about the crystal blasting micro. I get that those would go into the small indents just like chemical peels do. I just don't get how a diamond tip where I could use a very light hand in order to not go into the indents wouldn't be better. The scars are not deep but I definitely notice the slight indentations here and there. They do not cast a shadow. It seems to me that everywhere says chemical peels are much better for my indented scars concern. Please, please help me understand!I would purchase one of the more expensive at home microderm machines like the Remington or Kendal (budget for this investment is a few hundred dollars) so microderm can be performed once a month or every three weeks and then lesser as time goes on.I already used Paula's Choice 8% AHA and PC 2% BHA. The rest is PC toner and face wash and moisturizer and Clarisonic. Skin type: combo Skin concerns: fine lines, sun damage, discoloration, enlarged pores, light indented scarring

[Acne]Fading hyperpigmentation as fast as possible?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi, guys! I've just come off accutane, and my acne has reduced greatly. I've got red marks all over my face from the acne, marks which just won't fade. I really cannot afford most of the products which are suggested on this site, so I was wondering if there are any small tips as to how to help these scars fade or any cheaper methods of helping the scars fade without foisting what little money I can spend on products which may/may not work. Thanks!

[Skin Concerns] CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser made me breakout
Beauty Tips For Body Care
It's the first time I've had a breakout from changing cleansers. Am I to assume my skin is not dehydrated then and just oily? I switched back to Simple Moisturizing Facial Wash and it seems to be correcting itself now. My skin always feels a bit tight after I wash, so I thought maybe it was the cleanser. Could it just be hard water or something? Sorry for the ramble..

[Skin Concerns] Smiling or expressions on my face make my skin go red
Beauty Tips For Body Care
It's been a problem my entire life, whenever I smile or stretch part of my face it gets really red, I've never seen anyone that has that kind of issue. I googled it and its some kind of "chronic redness" on the skin, but I can't find much about it. I want to use lotion but I don't know if there is one that isn't very oily, as I'm pretty acne prone. Any ideas? It really sucks because after just smiling, i get redness all over my face from stretching of the skin

[Product Question]: Paulas Choice Upped Prices Before Glamour Shopping Week Discount
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I had a big 'ol list of PC products I wanted to buy, and I was waiting for the 20% discount and free shipping from Glamour Shopping Week. But when I went to place my order today, half of the products I wanted had a 20% increase in price compared to yesterday and the day before! (I know for sure because I saved all prices and size information.)For example, last night the 118ml (4oz) 2% BHA Liquid cost 27 Euros. Today it's 31.90 Eur. (It's doubly annoying that 32 Eur = US$35.9 , and right now the same product is selling on the US site for US$29.)Anyone else kinda bummed by this?/rant

[Acne] help for getting rid of acne scars
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I finally have gotten rid of about 85% of my acne with the help of exfoliating and constant moisturising, now where my acne was there are scars that stand out, they are a lot darker than skin surrounding it. Any suggestions for product that will take care of these?

Dermatologist told me BHAs and AHAs are bad for my skin? [acne]
Beauty Tips For Body Care
So I finally went to the dermatologist and told her how I had been using salicylic and glycolic acid on alternating days and she said she isn't surprised that they haven't been helping - if anything they have worsened - my breakouts. She said since my skin is sensitive they are irritating to it. She prescribed me an antibiotic, probiotics, Aczone to put on once a day at night and a low concentration of Tretinoin to put on 3x/week. I'm confused at her saying that the BHA and AHA are solely irritating though (she seemed to think they were not good for a lot of people not just for me) because I've heard great things about them and salicylic acid is known to help many people's skin. What do you think, have you ever heard that they are unhelpful?

[Product Question] Has anyone tried Sukin's Hydrating Mist Toner? Thoughts/ recommendations
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I started using facial toners out of the blue, and discovered that they reduced the amount of oil on my face, blackheads on my nose and improved the appearance of my pores. I was using the TN Dickinsons brand witch hazel to tone, but opted out for a less harsh toner, as I feel that the alcohol won't be kind to my skin later down the line. My current toner is one of the Simple brand toners, and it sucks. I found Sukin's toner and got excited, as it doesn't have alcohol, is affordable and I can actually find it in store. I've heard that they have pretty good skincare products. Plus, their products are natural and pretty sustainable. But enough of my rambling, I would like your opinions! The link to the product: http://sukinorganics.com/collections/tone-masques/products/hydrating-mist-tonerExtra info: I have oily/combination skinNinja edit: I meant to add; do any of you recommend any of their other products for my skin type? Thanks!

[Acne] New to sub. What are your thoughts on lavender oil? Any lavender products you use?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
My mom had a bottle of lavender oil (pretty big, around 12 oz, so I don't think it was essential oil. Could be wrong though!). I used a cotton ball and put it on my face, like a toner before moisturizing and going to bed. I thought it really helped clear my acne. But now the bottle is empty. I like the smell of lavender, but I haven't been able to find the same product.TL;DR: How do guys feel about lavender? What lavender products (if any) do you use?

[acne] [Routine Help] BHA, BP and Azelaic acid - too much or does it have a point?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi! New to this forum, just found it a week ago and I've been lurking and reading and learning a lot. I have been struggling with acne since puberty (I'm now 29), and currently I'm not on any perscription stuff but have a routine I think is working pretty well. I started with PC products in January (cleanser, BHA and spf) and it worked pretty well, but during the summer I chilled with the acids and consequently broke out pretty bad. Started again, and added a treatment with azelaic acid to get control again. Now it basically looks like this:AM: PC Clear cleanser, PC extra strength BHA 2% BHA liquid, PC Resist multi-correctional treatment with BHA and Azelaic acid, sometimes PC resist antioxidant serum (just finishing up my test-tube, not sure I'll order again) and PC Clear mattifyinf fluid with SPF 30+.PM: PC Clear cleanser, PC BHA 2% BHA liquid, PC Resist multi-correctional treatment with BHA and Azelaic acid and very basic oil-free moisturizer from the swedish pharmacy. Sometimes I would also use the Filorga Sleep and Peel night creme that I bought for too much money before I realised it was bad that it came in a jar... :(My skin is normal-oily and blemish prone, and not very sensitive. My main concerns now, since i think this routine helped to calm my skin and it does not feel as infected anymore, is to prevent new blemishes and to fade the red marks from earlier breakouts. I just bought a BP gel (5%) since I read that it is quite essential in any acne fighting routine, and I used it 3 or 4 nights now. I have the feeling that it increased the sensitivity of my skin (more burning and itchy feeling), and my question is basically if it would even make a difference adding it when I'm already using Azelaic acid? Perhaps it would be too much/doing the same thing?I also live in a quite cold climate and although my skin is basically normal-oily it does get dryer in winter. Suggestions on what to add to get more moisture and that wouldn't clog pores? Thanks!

[Routine Help] Strength and frequency of AHAs/BHAs
Beauty Tips For Body Care
My skin gets on very well with glycolic acid - I currently have both nip+fab glycolic fix pads, and a 10% and a 20% peel.Is it more effective to use strong AHA less frequently, or a lower concentration regularly? If I'm using peels say, twice a week, can I get away with continuing to use daily treatments in between? If I were over-exfoliating how long would it take for the negative effects to appear? Also will this affect how frequently I can use BHAs? I currently use a 5% Salicylic toner every few days.

Nathan from Paula's Choice has resigned [PSA]
Beauty Tips For Body Care
A brand is more than a person. But I think those of us who have followed Paula's Choice closely and relied on their clear-thinking explanations of otherwise complex skin and science-based concepts have really appreciated Nathan Rivas's quirky and especially smart views on good skincare. It's such a pity that he's leaving. While I'm unsure if he checks his reddit account, I think we'd all want to wish /u/Nathan_PaulasChoice a great future. Hopefully he stays in the industry.

Tried the Hourglass Vanish foundation and now covered in pimples [Acne]
Beauty Tips For Body Care
This is the first foundation I've ever bought. I only wore it today for MAX 2 hours and I noticed that my skin felt awful after removing it. Fast forward about 10 hours later I'm breaking out in pimples and little white bumps all over my face.Any suggestions on how to get my skin back to normal? Also, any recommendations for foundations geared toward sensitive skin?

[PSA] Studio 35 (Walgreens) dupe for Gold Bond Rough and Bumpy
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Just browsing through my Walgreens app when I came across this.I haven't used the Studio 35 dupe, but I have used the Gole Bond and had decent results with my KP. For comparison, here are the ingredients for both creams. Some minor differences, but the active ingredients seem to be the same (or maybe they're exactly the same and my eyes are playing tricks on me). The Studio 35 version is only about $1 cheaper than the Gold Bond - but a dollar is a dollar, right?I just thought I'd give a heads up for anyone who might be interested in trying this out.

[Skin Concerns] Best method to clear up blackheads and reduce pore size?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
So I have oily skin and larger pores but a semi pale complexion (mom is really white and dad is part native american). This seems to be a perfect storm for noticeable blackheads and has been for around 4 years now. So before posting this i looked at other answers to similar questions but only saw people who said to stay away from pore strips. So my question is, what do I use to get rid of these blackheads and reduce the size of my pores? I can provide pics of my nose / cheeks (problem areas) if needed.

[Product Question] Does Tretinoin eventually stop working?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I've been using the Curology formula for almost two years now. I use it for it's anti-aging properties. I've been on the highest strength for about a year. I can't really see it doing anything anymore. I've read some places that it only works for so long before it stops working. Is this true? Do you eventually just stop using it?

[Product Question] MUAC Lactic Acid 40% - Is this reaction normal?/Results
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Tried Makeup Artist's Choice Lactic Acid 40% Peel (the gentlest they have) last night. Followed the instructions. My skin turned slightly red and broke out in bumps along cheekbones, but more alarmingly, I had insomnia so got up at 4am, and when I went into the bathroom, I had a huge, I'm talking quarter-sized, white bump on my chin. When I finally got up this morning, all side effects are gone, so I think I will try it again, but I'm also mildly terrified. Are those reactions normal? And for those of you who have tried it, how long did it take you to see results?

[Acne] I have oil that is quite literally pouring out of my pores.... what should I do? What's going on?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I've been on adapalene for a month now. My pores have gotten pretty large from it. It freaked me out at first, but I've read a lot and from most people that this happened to, they didn't use the retinoid long enough and they didn't moisturizer enough. So I'm hoping that my skin is just purging out the bad stuff.... it almost looks like blackheads, and at this point they are almost popping out of my skin. But, today, and yesterday, I noticed that my skin looks oily, but not in a way that's normal... each individual pore literally had oil spilling out of it. I'm starting to think that my skin is pretty damaged from the retinoid, but I'm not sure where to go from here. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do? Or what products to use? I'm sure this is reversible, I'm in my early 20's and my pores are naturally very small, and I've read that your pores are genetically determined and can't change in size. But now, I really want to focus on getting my healthy skin back!!I moisturize SO MUCH, I use 2 different moisturizers. CeraVe AM and Aveeno Daily Moisturizer in the morning, and at night I'll use CeraVe PM, Aveeno Daily Moisturizer, and then top it off with Aquaphor. If anyone has any insight, please let me know. I'm almost ready to call my dermatologist, because I'm pretty sure that this just isn't normal. Thanks!Edit: I also use CeraVe normal to dry hydrating face wash morning and night.

[Routine help] I don't wear makeup. How can tone down my oilyness without powder?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi all, first time poster here.First off I want to say that I used to have a LOT of skin problems - extreme seborroic eczema, good 'ol forehead acne, but I am extremely lucky to have had all of these problems solved by my dermatologist. So my skin is very clear except for a bit of redness around my nose, which I really don't mind.So because I feel confident with my own skin now, I don't wear foundation 6 days out of 7. Before, I used to wear it to school and fix any oil formation with some powder. However, I was wondering if I could tone down the oil slick a little without using any makeup products. I would love to hear your suggestions, but please keep in mind I'm a high school student and I can't exactly afford the most expensive skincare :)My face routine is as follows:I use a gentle scrub OR the Olaz Regenerist to exfoliate my face every 2-3 days. Before going to sleep, I put Elidel (also known as pimecrolinus cream) around my nose, mouth and on my chin. Then I put Treclinac (It had clindamycin and retionoic acid in it) on my forehead and temples. Then when I wake up, I feel extremely greasy because of the treatments that have been sitting on my skin all night, so I wash my face with lukewarm water and Lush Coalface soap.Should I wash my face more? I feel like if I do I might get even oilier. Sorry if I did anything wrong because again, I'm a first time poster, and the names listed in this post might differ a little because I'm from Europe. <3

[Acne] Why haven't I experienced flaking with Paula's Choice 1% retinol treatment?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
So a few months ago I bought PC's 1% clinical retinol treatment. I remember using it for a week and then stopping because I didn't see any change in my skin. Last week, I decided to give it another try. I know that a lot of people recommend not using it every night and to buffer it with a moisturizer when you first start using retinol because it can be irritating and make your skin red and flaky. But I've been using it almost every night for a week now. I apply one full sized pump on my face and neck immediately after cleansing and I don't even use moisturizer or anything on top of it. But for some reason, I haven't experienced any redness or flaking. My skin's moisture hasn't been compromised at all (throughout the day, I use moisturizer like usual but I don't use moisturizer with the retinol cream at night). I do notice that I've been getting a few more pimples (is this purging?) and that my lips are a bit dry (maybe i got some on my lip by accident)? But no redness or flaking. Even the few extra pimples I've gotten aren't that bad compared to other stories I've heard of people who first started using retinol. Is this normal? I'm just worried that I'm not doing something right or that the product I got is faulty. I want to make sure that the retinol is actually doing something to my face.

Obviously it depends on the individual and their own problems, but just in general. I feel like splurging on something for my skin and going to a derm for some sort of treatment or just a spa. Stuff like microdermabrasion, peels, lasers. Considering botox or fillers too but I'd like to keep it down to a few $100.

[Skin Concerns] TSA CROSS scar treatment and/or micro needling for atrophic scars
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi Skincare Addiction!Does anybody here have any experience with either TSA CROSS scar treatment and/or micro needling? I have some atrophic scars on my leg that I would like to clear up. The scars are roughly 2 months old and fully healed. I am a student and have really basic insurance, so visiting a dermatologist or plastic surgeon isn't really an option. Though I would consider it if the TSA treatment is a good option. I'm not really keen on using acid on my skin myself...Info on TSA CROSS treatment can be found here, here and here.Info on micro needling can be found here and here.

Beauty Tips For Body Care
So for about 2 months now I have had a pretty bad acne problem on my butt. Im not positive it is acne because when I have popped the blemishes before they turn out to be these tough squishy tissue that likes to stick to skin. Once removed the blemish bleeds alot.I have had these before but just onesies and twosies and all i have to do was remove the tissuy stuff and they would go away but now they have gotten worst and spread all over my buttcheeks. Its extreamly embarrassing when I get intimate with my partner and I really just want to know what they are and to get rid of them for good and get my blemish free booty back. If you have any idea what im dealing with please let me know I'll tag a picture in the comments if requested.

[Skin Concerns] I have sensitive skin and nothing is working. What CAN I use?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Everything I've so far tried has only ended up in failure, red/splotchy skin, and itchiness. I have bad pores as well, but, once again, nothing works. I even had a prescription written out to me by a dermatologist, however she only looked at me once and practically ran out of the room. She was in there for less than a minute. The prescription caused redness, splotches, and it itched. It didn't work either. Can someone please suggest something I can use?

[Skin Concerns] I get these weird red bumps above/around my eyebrows after hair removal. Dermatologist had no solution [Photos Inside]
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi all,I'm getting these weird red bumps around my eyebrows after hair removal. My dermatologist said it is folliculitis and there is nothing that you can do, but I was hoping the SCA community might have a trick or routine to help.http://imgur.com/a/LlCfvFor reference, I generally use tweezer or a blade to remove the hairs, because otherwise my forehead/eyebrow/temple area would look terrible. Unfortunately it's getting to the point where these red bumps are almost as bad as having unsightly hair in the area.My routine is as follows:AM1) 10% BP Wash2) BP/Clindaymcin (onexton)3) Cetaphil4)sunscreenPM1) Cerave face wash2).1% tretinoin3)Cetaphil lotion4)Gold Bond Rough and Bumpy on the affected areasAny advice would be appreciated!

[Acne] Hormonal acne since going off the pill. Any natural solutions?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
27/F. I've had great skin and generally very minor breakouts since getting out of my teens. However, I had to go off birth control pills and had a Mirena IUD put in. For the past year, I have had more trouble with acne, almost exclusively on my chin and near the jawline. I have read that this is likely hormonal acne, but because of the Mirena, I don't get a period reliably every month, more like every three to four months now. It cleared up about six months ago, and came back this past month. I did not change my skin care routine or diet.Current routine includes: AM: Cold water on face, Thayer's Aloe Vera Witch Hazel Astringent as a toner, and La-Roche Posay moisturizer with SPF 15. PM: La-Roche Posay effaclar foaming gel cleanser, Thayer's Aloe Vera Witch Hazel Astringent, and e.l.f acne fighting spot gel with aloe (mainly salicylic acid) for spots. Any other recommendations about dealing with hormonal acne that sticks around naturally? Thanks so much! I'm new to this subreddit, but I have been loving it so far!

[Personal] Parents hindering recovery
Beauty Tips For Body Care
So I'm a 16 y/o girl with terrible acne all over my face. My doctor recently prescribed me pills as well as a topical treatment to take at the same time to clear my skin up, since my acne is so severe. I'm not sure what the pills are but they are to be taken once a day for a month to clear up bacteria and scarring. The cream is Retin-A. My parents won't let me take the pills because they think that it's too much (1x/day for a month) and will cause my liver or kidney or some internal stuff to go bad. What can I do? My mom hid the pills so I can't find them and all I really want is clear skin. I spend so much time in a day criticizing myself because of my acne that it hinders my school work but they just don't care. Help!

[Skin Concerns] - How to prevent scarring
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi!I had a canoeing accident a month ago and made a cut in my nose :(I used biafine while the wound was open, and i've been using bio-oil daily after that. I've been using a lot of strong sunscreen too. Nevertheless, after a month, it is still very visible. What can I do to make it better and prevent permanent damage? On a note, I use contact lenses but glasses at home, and my glasses/sunglasses press that part of the skin. May that be harmful?Thank you very much! I'm also open to suggestions on how to get rid of the dark spot you'll surely notice on my forehead :p(edit) I'm 30, forgot to mention that.

[Acne] Looking for the absolute fastest way to clear up pimples
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Me: http://imgur.com/fvTC3Hz sorry for shitty pic the camera doesnt really show how visible the pimples are. Hey all, this is my first post in this sub. For the past couple of years, I have had pretty bad pimples. I am not exactly sure what the difference is between pimples and acne, but I do know that acne runs in my fathers side of the family, he had pretty hardcore acne in his teens. My diet doesnt help either, I have been drinking lots of soda/energy drinks and eating candy and chips, which is something I have cut down on recently. Today, I came to the conclusion that I just want to finish this already and go back to my normal life. About an hour ago, I tried a 20 minute baking soda face mask, followed by a warm water rinse, then moisturizer. I am planning on trying it again overnight, this time either adding lemon juice or hydrogen peroxide. I know that this sub says that these are not good for your face, but everywhere else I have seen says that it is ok unless you have very irritable skin. I found that it hurts for the first couple of minutes then fades, so sleeping shouldnt really be a problem. I also have a few different face products that I have tried and that I still have, in case anyone has any ideas on them. I have kate somerville exfolikate cleanser, origins checks and balances frothy face wash, and both foaming and non foaming variants of the body shop tea tree oil face wash. I dont really care if whatever I do stings for a bit now, as long as it works as fast as possible. Cheers everyone

[MISC] Can we talk about DECIM's high price tag skincare options?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Like many of us, I have ordered and started using some of the Ordinary's line. Im still on the fence about a few items, really like one, and will be attempting to return one.I saw the post about the hylimide primers and it got me thinking.. I was so overwhelmed by what to order, I didn't really give much thought to any other line. What really has me interested is the NIOD line. Quite hefty price tags, but they are making claims that would make it worth the money if you experienced the results. This fractionated eye contour concentrate has me really intrigued. My under eye area is my biggest perceived issue, with loss of volume in the tear trough area. I would love to have a discussion on some of the science and claims from any DECIEM line. This $200 15ml copper peptide solution has me wondering if the sciency claims are as big as they say. Lets talk! What do you think?

[Routine Help] If I dab off the excess oil left over by my sunscreen with oil blotting sheets before applying my powder foundation, would this reduce the efficacy?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Does it have to dry completely for it to "set" because I use La Roche Posay melt in milk and it never particularly seems to dry, so I blot at it until it's relatively oil free before my foundation because otherwise it goes on blotchy. Am I ruining my spf coverage by doing this?Anyone else get this?It may also have to do with the fact that I moisturize like a maniac prior... :P

[Product Question] Sephora Holiday Skin Care Sets, any favorites/recommendations?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Sephora has been releasing a lot of holiday sets for different skin care brands such as Belif, Drunk Elephant, etc. I was wondering if anyone has purchased particular ones and what your thoughts on them are? I was thinking about getting the Skin Wonderland Set since it had a bunch of deluxe sizes of different brands. If you could let me know what your skin type and why you chose that set, that would be helpful!

I am even more confused. I listened to a podcast from a licensed esthetician who said you should almost never be using any acids, no benzoyl peroxide and a host of other things that I have seen suggested here. Now I am at an even bigger loss.Note if anyone is curious it's called behind the beauty podcast.

[Routine Help] Closed comedones and sebaceous filaments on chin and cheeks. I want them gone and I need help!!!!
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hello!! I've been lurking on this sub for a few months now, and recently tried adding in Paula's choice 2% BHA Liquid and 8% AHA Gel. I made a rookie mistake and added them both in at the same time, BHA in the morning and AHA at night, and ended up with itchy dry skin. My nose itched so badly on one side the skin got raw!! I learned the hard way. :( :( :(Anyway now I've cut the products back to the bare essentials while my skin recovers. I've had CCs on my chin for a long time now, and I REALLY want them gone! They look ok in the morning after cleansing, but by the end of the day they're just eww. I also have SFs on my chin, cheeks and T-zone, which I really really hate looking at. My skin type is normal/oily, with the occasional pimple. That being said, it seems like every morning I wake up with a new tiny whitehead either on my forehead, chin or cheek. It's obnoxious. Here's my current routine:AMCleanse with CeraVe Foaming Cleanser and Konjac SpongeMoisturize with Jojoba Oil (I know this can lead to the CCs, but I was using Mad Hippie Face Cream and I feel like it was making them worse, so I cut that out)Protect with Skinceuticals Sheer Physical UV Defense SPF 50Apply Makeup (I've been using Bare Minerals...could this be the culprit?)PMDouble Cleanse with Jojoba Oil and CeraVe Foaming CleanserMoisturize with Jojoba OilSo this is where I'm at right now. I really want a moisturizer that isn't an oil and that won't cause more CCs. I would really like to incorporate the BHA and AHA, as I feel like my skin desperately needs to be exfoliated. I would also like to add in a toner. I had been using this and I loved it, but I've also cut it out because I just want to start fresh. I've recently started lurking on r/AsianBeauty and the products over there intrigue me, so those recommendations are welcome also! I need you guys, please help me!!!

Ive recently broke out for the first time in months...Ive ate the same tanned as much as usual (once a week) and have drank plenty of water while cleaning my face as usual. I can only guess it may be to the extreme change in my sleep pattern but am nervous that it may also be attributed to the two or three years of tanning catching up to me. Like I said I only tan once a week and I tan easily as Im hispanic...any idea what might be the problem? Change kfseasons maybe...?

[Misc] Oily pillow case but skin and hair don't look oily. Help!
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I apologize in advance for my format (I'm on mobile). I need help! My husband wakes up every morning with an oily pillowcase. I mean, you can see area where his head rests and it's so much darker than the rest of the pillow case. I have to wash them almost daily to try and keep them looking nice, but I'm hoping this wonderful community can help us resolve this once and for all. He's tried taking morning showers, midday showers, and evening ones and it's still bad. His skin and hair don't look oily at all, so that just baffles me! He's not thorough with his skin care routine, but this is what he does every day: shampoo with suave professionals, and antibacterial dial for his face and body. That's it. I know it's terrible, but he HATES a big routine. However, he is willing to try suggestions from you all to see if it helps. Thanks, everyone!

[Review] Nivea After Shave As Primer?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hey guys, I tried to search through to see if this was a repeat but I couldn't find anything so sorry if it is. I hear amazing things about Nivea products and have been reading a lot of articles about using their aftershave balm as a primer.I have very sensitive combination skin and have struggled to find something that works as a primer before my foundation. Everything about this online is basically testimonies from giant magazines, but I want to hear from a SCA member for a more accurate review.Anyone have any history with this product?

[Acne] why do I break out on the same spot on both sides of my face?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I used to get bad cystic acne but it's gotten better lately, but I still get the occasional break out. Most of the time when I do, I'll break out in the same spot on both sides of my face. For example, If I break out on my cheek on the left side, I break out in the same exact spot on my right side. Does anyone know why this happens? It just seems strange to me.

Hi! Male/20 here. I've been experiencing acne for about 4 years now. Being optimistic about it is hard, especially since your biggest critic is yourself. I'm here on ScA to see what options I should approach next.https://imgur.com/a/3z01S (Pictures of the sides of my face. Fortunately, my forehead is relatively unaffected.)I believe my acne is closely related to stress. Maybe genetics since I've seen it in my bloodline. I don't know. But I was going through a stormy situation and suddenly I was breaking out more frequently than ever before. I tried Proactiv and many other common SA and BP products. Yet, there was no change.About 2 years following my extreme breakouts, I decided to move forward with Accutane ( following months of general salicylic acid cleansers and prescriptions of Retin-A). The Accutane did successfully help with calming down my acne.Following that my daily routine was: AM/PM: CeraVe Cleanser and MoisturizerHowever, I got a new high stress job and I started breaking out again. I've been trying different products through the years and have not seen much progress. My routine has adjusted through the research I've done.My current routine: AM: Proactiv exfoliator -Thayers Witch Hazel -InstaNatural Vitamin C Serum 20% -Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer with Broad Spectrum SPF 15 PM: Same as AM including spot treatment with Clean & Clear Persa-Gel 10, Maximum StrengthI know my current routine looks like a mess. That's why I'm here! What should I adjust with my routine?Regarding my diet: I exclude dairy as much as I can and include several servings of vegetables with each meal.I'm also a very active runner and weightlifter.Thank you so much guys! I'm glad I stumbled across this ScA. :)Here's the same link from above. Acne Profile (Sides of Face)

[Miscellaneous] "How to Have Flawless Skin" articles are almost always pseudoscientific BS, but if this sub made one, what are some things we'd put in it?

[Skin Concerns] Does anybody have an experience where stopping the picking/scanning/scratching really improved their skin/acne?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hey there! Long time lurker who finally decided to make a post.I am 22 now and back when I was a teenager I had quite mild acne. I went through product after product containing BP and high amounts of SA convinced that it would eventually begin working. Finally, four years ago, I began strictly oil cleansing and had clear skin for about 3 years (other than a couple small pimples around ovulation and before my period).Anyways, over the last year, after a couple breakouts, I have began obsessively scanning/touching/sometimes picking at my skin everyday. (Have had anxiety/depression for a number of years now and it seems that this is one of the ways it has manifested in the last year.) I probably spend about 3-4 hours a day if added up with my fingers on my face. Much of the time it is not actual "picking", but just pressing, yanking at my skin, scanning with fingers, scratching with nails, etc. After this habit started, I have noticed that I break out a lot more. (I rarely have more than 1 or 2 actual pimples on my face, but I get MUCH more tiny whiteheads/bumps, etc. now).Seeing that I have not changed my routine (other than trying out a few products that all resulted in breakouts), is it possible that most of this is due to this habit? I keep telling myself that my skin is very likely to improve if I stop this behaviour. I think if I heard some other success stories/how it really improved somebody else's skin that would cheer me on.Thanks so much for taking the time to read this! I look forward to your input.

[B&A] A post I never thought I'd ever be able to make: my B&A, finally overcoming acne - physically and mentally.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hello all!I think everyone says this when they make a B&A, but truly. I never thought I would be at this point where I could say I'm completely clear of acne! And what got me here was my own perseverance.STORY TIME AHEAD!Backstory So I had baaaaaaaaaaaad acne as a teen. Really bad. I don't have any photos of me at all from that time other than those that I heavily edited or ones that were taken far away enough that you couldn't see my skin. Long story short: I got rid of it through prescription BP. My face was happy!5 years later, for whatever reason, it came back. Around July/August last year, my skin started changing. It didn't like the creams I was using anymore; it was flaky and uncooperative. I started breaking out with acne on my forehead, cheeks, and chin. I went to the doctor and got BP, as I figured it'd helped me in my teen years so it'd help again.Meanwhile, I sought advice from all you lovely people here at /r/skincareaddiction and /r/skincareaddictionUK to assess my routine, as my skin was just a nightmare. Overall I got some good recommendations, especially about improving my cleansing routine and layering moisturisers, but nothing made much of a difference on my acne. My forehead cleared up though. So for a while that was pretty much the only part of my face that was clear.A number of months go by without any real progress; depression set in. So by this point I was trying tons of different products. Cetaphil, Eucerin, Nivia, konjac sponges, DermaE.....I can't even list everything. So many stuff went in the bin after either breaking me out or turning my face into a tomato. (Konjac sponge broke me out BAAAD).Eventually, I sought serious help from my GP. I was at a point where my depression had led me to dark thoughts. So I knew I needed help. I had a consultation with my GP about my mental state and she identified that I was dealing with depression as a result of my struggles. She put me on a waiting list for therapy, and prescribed me dianette. Meanwhile, I had no other leads on what to do with my skincare routine, so I pressed on with what I was doing. At this point I was using a routine not unlike my current one. Eucerin 5% Urea, Cetaphil moisturising cream, argan oil, bareminerals cleanser, Avene cleansing lotion, and a prescription BP on ANYTHING that dared raise itself on my face. I was gentle, diligent and obsessive. But things just wouldn't change. My acne was focused around my mouth and chin, and up my cheeks. Forehead was clear. I was so confused.Months passed, no progress, no therapy. It was a tremendous struggle. Most days were spent working away quietly at work without talking to many people, and getting home clearing off my face of makeup and watching TV for the rest of the evening until I could go to sleep. Rinse, repeat.Suddenly, for whatever reason, I decided to drop BP. I had changed numerous products and was sure I had a good routine. I was so confused. But I happened to come across a thread elsewhere on reddit and got into a discussion with someone about BP. Basically, it boiled down to BP actually sometimes being more harmful for acne, especially in people who have sensitive skin. This had never occurred to me, as it had cleared my acne as a teen. I threw it in the bin that evening.Three weeks later, my acne was gone. This was about 4-5 months into dianette, so I have no idea if it could be attributed to that. But it seemed more likely to me that BP was actually the cause of my acne: I only got breakouts around the regions that I was routinely using it, i.e. around my mouth and cheeks. Never on my forehead or anywhere else that it wouldn't touch. I figured that I was spreading the BP around since I was using my Cetaphil moisturiser on top of it.All along, the thing that was supposed to cure my breakouts was actually causing it. I was dumbfounded. I had tried dozens upon dozens of products, spent hundreds of pounds, and all along it was that.Three months and going strong without any acne breakouts! So yup, since then, I have had no breakouts of acne whatsoever. I have had a load of other gripes, however, with eczema and dry skin, which have turned out to be issues with swapping my oil cleanser (bareminerals got discontinued D:) and overmoisturising during what was a very humid summer, but they are NOTHING in comparison to the nightmare that was acne. A lot of the scars have already faded quite a bit but many are still taking their time.I've also been on therapy since mid June, which is helping tremendously. She's helping me refocus my thoughts and get on with life regardless of what's going on with my face. And so, here I am! I'm finally confident in my bare skin. Well...not quite enough to go out bare-faced, but enough to not feel ashamed of looking my boyfriend in the eyes without it and having lights on around me without makeup. It's truly a surreal feeling that I hope everyone can eventually feel at the end of their skincare journey.I also saw a dermatologist for the first time today! I was on the waiting list for so long that I only just got to see a dermatologist today; I was originally supposed to see them about my acne. But I still went anyway as I want to become better at looking after my skin. And I'm so glad I did. He was a really understanding, lovely person to speak to. I could tell he knew exactly what he was talking about and was not judging me at all. In brief: I got lots of advice on what I should/shouldn't do (mostly shoulds - to keep going with what I've found that works :D) and resolved some of my general queries about acne/eczema-prone skin. I have another appointment in December to follow up. All in all, it was such a good experience and I'm glad they were so responsive and understanding.I never, ever, EVER thought I'd have a success story. Seriously. And it makes me realise that anyone could be literally just one step away from solving their acne issues. And that's why you have to keep trying. Because you never know which change is going to be the big break.I wish I had more photos to share, but I deleted a lot of them - probably for the best. I hope they are still motivating for anyone who is still trying to cut through the brambles that are blocking them from progressing on their skincare journey. I don't think the journey ever ends, honestly, as our skin is everchanging, but the path does become clearer and easier as you learn more about your skin and the tools you have at your disposal to help you keep moving forward. Thanks for reading all this if you did! I am not the type of person to talk about this stuff with my friends and family, so I felt compelled to share it with all you, who truly understand. :-)B&A pics: http://imgur.com/a/3nCO0 Apologies for the random black boxes. I'm trying to keep myself anonymous if that's okay. I also used to have photos of when it was even worse, but I must have deleted them. I lost track of the dates too, sorry! But these are all pics without any makeup whatsoever. The most recent ones (at the end of the album) are literally from about a week ago.TL;DR: Had acne as a teen. Cleared up with BP, was fine for 5 years. Resurfaced last year. Tried BP again. Struggled for almost a year with it. Spent hundreds of pounds trying to find something that worked. Depression hit me. Eventually, ditched BP and acne cleared up in 3 weeks. Am undergoing therapy, and saw a dermatologist for the first time today. 3 months free of acne! Currently tackling some dryness issues but nothing major, and am happy. :)

[Skin Concerns] Don't buy a USB microscope if you ever want to sleep again. Also, question about pores!
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Soooo I decided to buy a USB microscope after randomly clicking on a youtube video about hair analysis and then started looking at my skin. It was only $15 and gets down to about 500x I think. It seemed like a good deal. My skin can be a bit oversensitive (and prone to PIH) but I'm reasonably happy with it because it responds well to products when I use them. I thought the microscope might help with diagnosis of any issues, right?Yeah.Took a close up normal photo of my skin. In the middle of an outbreak and could do with a bit of work but pretty content. My family and I seem to have similar skin. Except under the microscope, my sister/mum's forehead looked like thisMine looked like this! Ouch!On the plus side, it definitely answered my question re SF v milia. It's the latter. I have a huge tapestry of sebaceous filaments all over my nose/undereyes/cheeks. They look terrifying.Anyway, I semi-calmed down (after a stiff drink) and immediately broke out all my products that I've gotten slack on and drank about a tank of water. Even only a day later I can see that my skin is calming down.I just have two questions if anyone can answer them! They're just pores, right? These first picture? They're kind of gross and I wish they looked like my family's skin but they are not anything abnormal? Also, should I be worried about big holes in my skin like this? The SF I already know how to deal with!

[product question] is isotrex worth using for fine lines, preventing wrinkles and skin texture?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I have some isotrex(topical isotretinoin)although do not generally suffer from acne. Is it worth me using this ? I haven't been able to get a decisive answer on whether this works in the same way as the clinically proven retin a (Tretinoin) on skin texture most are surrounding its effectiveness for acne.Has anyone here used isotrex before and noticed a marked improvement in general skin condition after the first few months? I don't want to suffer the side effects of dry skin if it's not ultimately benefiting it.A summary of studies done would also be helpful in my search if anyone has any to hand and personal anecdotes or science is welcome alsoThanks

[MISC] Looking for a good leave-in hair conditioner for my dry, frizzy hair that won't make me breakout
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi there ! So I've been using Small Talk by TIGI for a while, and I freaking love it. Makes my hair soft, manageable, hydrated and less stiff as I come out of the shower after a washing. Problem is, the damn fragrances, or something else in this product...makes me breakout like hell around my hairline! Rashes of some sort...So my hair is shiny and healthy, but my skin becomes blerg in exchange. I have a severe case of sensitive/acne-prone skin, but also a severe case of dry, brittle hair that comes out stiff unless I use a good leave-in hair product that somewhat hydrates and strengthens my hair. Any suggestions? :/

[Acne] Just left the dermatologist's office. Feeling discouraged and ready to give up. Pics included.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hey SCA,I have struggled with acne since I was 13. I am now 26. I had severe acne on my face, chest, and back. My mother lovingly called it my "meth face" because yes, it was that bad.I did Retin-A, antibiotics, Proactiv... etc. I finally went on Accutane in high school and my acne went away. It gradually returned over the next few years, but only on my face. My chest and back remained clear.I went on Accutane again in college. My acne cleared then returned in the next few years. Here's what I looked like in 2011. I believe it has improved significantly since then but still not enough to go to out without makeup on.I started seeing a new dermatologist this year who put me on Spironolactone. My acne seems better but I did have one flare up last month. I've been on it for 4 months. My dermatologist suggested an elimination my diet. To be clear, I am a very healthy weight and very physically active. I am, however, an extreme foodie. Fine dining, travel, foreign food, and restaurants bring me more joy in life than almost anything else. For context: I was once told I may have diabetes and my response was immediate panic about how I would still be happy with a diabetic's diet. I live to eat.My dermatologist's plan: Cut out sugar, sugar substitutes, dairy, soy, wheat/grains, eggs, corn, and peanuts entirely for a month. Reintroduce one of these for 4 days then remove it again for 3 days. Repeat for all food groups.Redditors, I legitimately don't think I can do it. I have a vacation or holiday planned at least once a month until January of next year and I just don't know if my skin is worth giving that up. I'm also passionately involved in fitness activities like dancing and weightlifting and I don't want to figure out how to appropriately fuel my body with a diet this limited. This sounds like my own personal hell... especially if I find that I am sensitive to and breaking out because of any of these foods. So I have to ask you:Have you heard of any better/quicker ways to identify and eliminate food reactions? Maybe a way to break this up so it doesn't have to be 2 months back to back?Should I speak to an allergist instead? Is there something they can do for me?Is there any research to suggest this isn't worth my time? Anything that would make me feel better about refusing to do this?Is there a more likely culprit I could try first? Should I make a stronger effort to avoid picking my skin or hydrate (I don't really drink any water) more?Am I being obstinate and childish? It's only 2.5 months. Should I shut up and listen to my doctor? Here is my skin now. I truly feel it is improving and would like to avoid this diet if at all possible. If that's not in the cards for me then I guess it's time to suck it up and do what the doctor ordered. Any support and encouragement would be welcomed :(Tl;dr - Acne for life. Tried everything. Doctor wants me to fix my diet. I'm being whiny about it.

[Skin Concern] Why does my skin look so bad in the morning?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I've been reading about how people on here wake up with "morning skin" that looks way better than normal. I get the exact opposite and I don't know why, when I wake up my skin looks awful and super dehydrated. It gets better throughout the day (especially once I get food/water into me) but I feel like I'm having a hard time improving anything because of how I seem to take 1 step forward and 1 step back each night. Any ideas what the problem could be?

[Routine Help] Did I just rub off a whole layer of dead skin?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Am I seeing this correctly? It looks like a whole layer of dead skin came off my face all at once when I added Vit. C on top of my glycolic acid.So I woke up and cleansed my face with micellar water. Then I added a 14% glycolic acid (Alpha skincare). I waited probably 30 minutes and put on my Vit. C (L-ascorbic) lotion/serum by the ordinary. When I rubbed it in, I looked at my finger and saw a layer of this waxy, grey stuff. A picture if you're interested. My skin felt a lot smoother after that. Is it a layer of dead skin? When I went to wash this off of my hand, I went back to rubbing my face and more came off. There was a lot.

[Personal] Can anyone tell if this will be a big pimple?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I have a very important event for work Friday and Monday and last night I noticed a red mark below my lower lip. I scrubbed it, put 10% Sulfer on it, and went to sleep. This morning, I woke up and there's a small bump surrounded by a very light red. I scrubbed it again and put the Sulfer on that as well. Will this become a big pimple? What can I do about it? Pic for referencehttps://i.imgur.com/HuEMaPs.jpgThank you!

[Acne] Cystic acne since my 30s - and why I should have had my hormone levels tested sooner.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
A year ago I decided to go off birth control after having been on it for 16 years. After six months with no period, I went to see a specialist who had me tested for multiple things. It turns out I have a microadenoma, a tiny benign tumor in my pituitary gland that is producing large quantities of prolactin.Since that appointment (and an MRI and visual field exam) they put me on a medication that shrinks the tumor. You know what else has dissipated? My cystic acne. Since regulating my medication to the point where my prolactin levels are normal my acne has gone away.Internet research has me thinking there is a connection. What are your thoughts?

[Routine Help] Protecting skin from chlorine? (+ body acne)
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I've started swimming 4-6 days a week and I'm worried about the effect that's it's having on my skin, specifically the skin on my body.I've been suffering from body acne around the hair follicles for the past couple of years and I'm currently on a routine to treat that and repair my ingrown hair scars. This routine is Neutrogena Salicylic Acid Body Wash and Amlactin 12% AHA lotion, which was recommended to me by my esthetician and dermatologist (two different people).I've done a quick search of protecting skin from chlorine and I've seen a couple of swimmers say that they use baby oil or advocate a swimming spray (which contains coconut oil). Because of the problems that I've had with body acne, I stay far far away from comedogenic oils and butters (body acne started when I began using coconut oil as a moisturizer and hasn't quit since).Does anyone have any ideas or recommendations for what I could do? I'm using a community pool so I can't control the chlorine levels. I'm also rinsing myself off prior to swimming to prevent chlorine absorption but I don't actually know if that's doing anything. I'm thinking perhaps a light layer of vaseline on my body and face before I get in the pool?I'd really appreciate some suggestions! Thanks all.

[Product question] Have you tried arnica cream for dark circles?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I was reading some blogs about how to get rid of dark circles and I came across this blog which claims that arnica cream, (specifically Cicabio Arnica by Bioderma) can be useful to get rid of dark circles. Later I went to a pharmacy and the assistant told me that she has several customers that use it that way. I haven't tried, I wanted to know if you may have some information about it.

I feel like I've learned more from this sub than from school.Maybe this is too open ended but I'd love to be shown some long posts or articles or tips about skincare, or things I should know before I start turning in my applications to spas. I'm gonna read the sidebar, but is there any other relevant information I should know?

[routine help] Where to include AHA 8% gel? Also shea butter.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hey there skin care addictsI'm [24F, Australia] about to start including paula's choice AHA 8% gel in my skin care routine and have a question - where is the best place to put it? I've read the side bar and searched the sub, but I have a vit C serum and tret in the AM/PM respectively and I'm not sure where to best put it. I'm also thinking about including shea butter, somewhere but I'm not sure where that would go, or it if would be too much?Current routine:AMCleanse - clinique liquid facial soap (mild)Serumtologie vit C serum (2 months in - no dramas here)Simple rich moisturising lotion50/50 mix of Neutrogena ultra sheer face spf50+ and Bali Body BB cream (reapply later)PMCleanse - (as above)Tretinoin 0.025% - every second night (sometimes I apply Simple moisturiser 30 minutes later, sometimes I can't stay awake. 1 month in, no dramas here either)Non-tret nights - Palmers Cocoa Butter skin therapy oil (face) then Simple moisturiserCan I use the AHA in the morning as long as I apply ~30 minutes before the vit C serum (which iirc has a pH of about 6.5)? Or would I be better off using it at night on non-tret days, and if yes - can I still include the palmers oil (i'm loving it)? Or something else? I'm a grad student (work at home) so waiting for things to absorb in the AM is not a big deal, but I hate waiting at night because I procrastinate cleansing my face. Thanks :-)

[skin concerns] Nose infections and postules, derm thought it was staph but is now unsure. Anyone experience something similar? Please, I'm really desperate
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I know this is not the doctors office, but I'm so incredibly desperate I've really tried any acne treatment and that just make matters worse (was on tretionoin for 2 months but my derm told me since it was an clearly som kind of infection we should stop that)..so here goes...Male, 19 years old, 3 months ago I had clear skin, like really nice complexion, only the occasional pimple here and then, no oiliness, nothing like that. Then I got one big nasty pimple with multiple heads below my right nostril. Later it spread to the other side of my nose, and since then I've had about 5 infections in and around my nose, and countless postules in my nose spreading to my forehead. What would before take maybe a day or two to heal now becomes big, red inflamed and takes weeks to heal.My skin looks sick from all the PIH I'm suddenly getting, dehydrated, and just awful in general, but maybe worst of all insanely oily all the time, I'm talking insane amounts, first on forehead, then cheeks, nose and now lips and chin as well. (I know this sounds like it could all be hormonal but I'm not getting any cysts, and my derm said my nose is very clearly inflamed and infectedThe fact that this transformation happened over only a couple of weeks made me really scared so I went to the derm. I was staph positive so started dilcaoxacillin treatment, which took 14 days. My skin was looking up, but 10 days later, back full force – postules in nose forehead and shit skin in general, flushing easily red faced, in a kind of bumpy way...Seems to be centered around my nose. Went back to the doctor took another test in left nostril, but it came back staph negative. Now my doctor doesn't know what it is...Anyone got any ideas?

[Routine Help] Need some help critiquing my current routine for combination skin (Acne, Dry Irritated Skin, Possible PIE)
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Pics (admittedly pretty terrible): http://imgur.com/a/QPdiZI like to think I'm pretty rehearsed in skincare growing up with Eczema, but my skin has been worse than usual lately and I want to get it to it's best.My skin is seemingly always blotchy, inflamed and itchy. I've started breaking out lately and the red marks seem to last for months., which is really frustrating because blemishes are popping out seemingly in hours/overnight.I've tried lots of things, lower temperature showers, drinking lots of water, fresh towel on pillow case, cutting out all soft drink consumption, clean(er) eating. My current routine is as follows:AM:Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry Touch SunscreenPM:Cerave Hydrating Cleanser in the showerSt Ives Exfoliating Pads (2% AHA) [Twice a week, but I've cut back afraid it is drying my skin out]Spot Treat with Tea Tree oil on a cotton budApply Cerave Moisturizing Cream Tub [an hour after exfoliation/spot treatment]Hydrocolloid bandage on bigger spotsAny help would be appreciated.

[ACNE] [SKIN CONCERN] Accidental popping
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I avoid popping pimples at all cost due to the higher chance of scarring. Sometimes tho, they pop by themselves during the day. Whether it be from facial muscle movement or anything. Usually after i have a meal i check in the mirror and one might be oozing out. I don't know want to wash my entire face since it gets dry easily, so i usually try to get rid of the excess white goo with a cotton swab and leave it alone. Most of the time i can tell that not all of the excess is out. What should be done to pimples that are accidentally popped? Is there like something that should be applied to them?

[Skin Concerns] I'm having some problems with oiliness and acne that are new to me.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi! I have had an issue with blackheads since I was young, but I've only really gotten the occasional straight up pimple. Lately though, I've had a larger than usual number of pimples popping up and I'm not really sure why. My skin has also been greasier and generally shinier. I'm sure that being a 22 year old, somewhat active, male has something to to do with, but it's a bit unusual so I wanted to know if you guys might be able to give me any advice or at least tell me what might be causing the sudden change. I haven't really changed my diet at all, and my face washing routine is the same as it has been for about a year. The only product I've adjusted in my regimen is a new deodorant, but I can't imagine that would do this.As far as products go, I use the Cerave SA cleanser as well as their AM and PM lotions. I also sometimes use Clearasil salicylic acid pads if I'm having a breakout or am particularly oily. Sometimes, instead of that I use Pixi glow tonic as a toner. I don't really know much of anything about skin care, but a friend recommended it and it smells nice... haha I don't have much money to spend, but if you can explain a superior regimen to me that is reasonably priced, I would greatly appreciate that.

Last weeks post in another sub. https://imgur.com/a/W1szOWondering if I need to see an allergist or something other than a Derm. They only offer Accutane anymore. Seeing someone new this Friday. It is on lower scalp near my neck the worst. My face gets them sometimes. In my ears and nose. My arms get small little red bumps. My chest gets big red bumps. Nothing lower than that ever.I change towels daily and pillow cases every other night.I have bathed in bleach and drank vinegar for 3 weeks.I have cut back considerably on junk food and I work out pretty regularly. When I sweat I can literally feel my skin crawling. I have to run home and shower or I might die.Just looking for thoughts...have plenty to discuss as I have been battling this for going on 3 years now.Cheers.

Hi, before I start I'd like to say I hope this is the correct place to post this. If not please let me know. I have a large indent/wrinkle between my eyes and a smaller one above my brow ridges. I'm wondering if there is a way to correct this and if so what it is. I'm wondering if botox or some sort of injectable filler would do the trick? thank you for your help! I bought the one not for face, but the general one for the skin. I didn't know there's a facial one. Is it OK to use it on my face? Also, in general, is there a huge difference between face/skin moisturizers if applied on face?

[Product Question]Good retinol products available in Europe?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hoping for some advice from the ladies and gents of r/ScA regarding retinol products in Europe. In my battle against fine lines under both my eyes and on my forehead, I have realised that even at the prime age of 18 I am needing an extra fix. The problem being I have absolutely no clue of where to buy retinol around here, and the pharmacies only have "anti-wrinkle" products that may be for more severe cases? Not sure, but any advice of where to find something for fine lines would be appreciated.(And yes sunscreen and vitC are already staples of mine so I really do need something additional... sigh)

[PSA] Beautypedia [possibly] separating from Paulaschoice.com
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Like many other skincare addicts, I have been very confused by the wonky accessibility of beautypedia lately. Today, it was totally removed from Paula's website, and in my panic, I called their customer service to see what was going on once and for all! This is what I was told:They have been "testing the website" for the past couple of weeks, and thus Beautypedia has been "periodically offline for certain visitors". That explains why some of us can see/access it while others can't.If you cannot access Beautypedia online, you can call Paula's Choice customer service and they will "send you a private link to access the site". Pain in the butt, but at least we can still get it!The "Paula's Choice team" is deciding "where to go next with Beautypedia," and it might become its own separate website distinct from Paula's Choice primary website with her products. But most importantly...I asked clearly and directly, "Is there any chance Beautypedia is going to be taken down entirely?" and I received a firm "No". If Beautypedia is to be removed from Paulaschoice.com, I was emphatically assured [multiple times] that it would simply be posted as its own site elsewhere.FINGERS CROSSED PEOPLE [but keep your pitchforks ready!]

[Skin Concerns]How can I get this surgery scar to look more like my skin colour?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I went for surgery a few months ago I was left with this (http://i.imgur.com/Tmc5wGm.jpg) and the pink is quite the contrast with my brown skin so I want to know what is out there for to try make it better. I haven't tried any scar treatment remedies because I don't know what to use. I heard the usual stuff like bio oil isn't good for it.

[Skin Concerns] My skin is shiny, but not oily at all?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I had really bad acne a few months back and went to a doctor, who prescribed me a face wash in the morning and evening, an oral antibiotic after every two days, arynoin plus(combination of isotretinoin and azithromycin) in the night and a cream for acne scars(its active ingrediants include salicylic acid etc) in the morning. He told me to use all of that stuff for two months and then come back to him. During those two months my skin broke out, but I expected that because of the retinoid. At the end of the two months my skin started getting better. On the second appointment, the doctor prescribed me a sunscreen in the morning and took out the oral antibiotics and facewash told me to come back after 3 months. At the end of those three months, my skin became really clear. And it also felt as soft as a baby's. But i also started to notice how shiny my skin was. It wasn't oily at all. I've dealt with oily skin before and this is definitely not it. I went back to the doctor and he took out arynoin plus and the sunscreen and instead prescribed me clindamycin phosphate and another facewash called "rejox" facewash. Im on this routine right now. What do I do to fix this? Is this shiny skin permenant?tl;dr: My skin isn't oily at all but still reflects light like a fucking mirror.

[acne] Persistent mild, hormonal acne.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I've been using tretinoin 0.025% for almost a year now, I've been using Spironolactone for about 4-5 months. I wash my pillowcases regularly, don't touch my face, etc. My mild acne, which is mostly hormonal and CCs, will not go away! I know that none of my other products are breaking me out because I've individually tested them all.I know they don't give accutane unless it's severe and mine isn't, it's pretty mild and focused around my chin, but what do I do when I've exhausted every option?am Cetaphil gentle cleanser Spot treat with benzoyl peroxide Olay moisturizing cream for sensitive skin Khiehls mineral sunscreenpm Cetaphil gentle cleanser Tretinoin 0.025% Olay moisturizing cream

[Skin Concerns] Here's what I learned from suffering for two decades with Seborrheic Dermatitis...
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Basically I have a particularly difficult case of seb derm and it's taken me about 20 years to really be happy with my skin.My skin type: Male, typical seb derm symptoms but severe. Blotchy, dry, flaky uneven toned facial skin with consistent white heads. Flaky, greasy eyebrows and scalp. Particularly bad eyelid inflammation.Current Regimen: Zinc bar once a week on face and eyebrows, Nizoral on same day in hair. Eucerin original cream twice a day, Cerave hydrating cleanser twice a day. Free and Clear shampoo and conditioner every day.Biggest takeaways from my struggle:I now use the heaviest moisturizer i can find, twice a day (Eucerin Original Cream). I undermoisturized for far too long because I worried about being too greasy.I took too long to come around on the Zinc bar. I only use it on my eyebrows and facial skin once a week (along with Nizoral on my hair) but it makes a massive difference. You don't really know how much 'stuff' seb derm puts on your face until you scrub it off with the right medicine. You have to give products a few days or weeks to really see if they work. I would cycle through ideas too quickly and end up repeating bad ideas later, or not giving good ideas enough of a chance. My lips were always a good indicator of whether a facial moisturizer wasn't strong enough. Now that my facial skin is moisturized, i dont have to put anything on my lips directly.Much of my acne was the result of dryness, not grease or bacteria. Almost all of the little red bumps and white heads went away when my skin was moisturized. Finally, for my eyes: I was diagnosed with blepharitis by an opthalmologist, but in reality I just needed to put the heavy moisturizer on my eyelids and this reduced inflammtion almost completely. Don't forget to moisturize around the eyes and directly on the lids.Final note: My skin condition made my life 10 times harder than it needed to be, don't listen to people who say 'i don't see anything wrong' or 'it looks okay to me.' You know how much your skin bothers you, so deal with it. Even my therapist encouraged my for 2 years to keep up experimenting with skin treatments, because she really believed it would have an impact on my mental health. I feel like a new person.
