[Skin Concern] Picked on a blackhead which had excessively grown and now I have a hole on my skin. What's the best thing to do?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I had a blackhead on my nose which slowly grew taller and taller in size. After three weeks, I decided clean my hands and to pass my nail through it and get it out: it was extremely easy. The problem is that now it has left a hole which I can only assume will result in an indent acne scar. Any ways of preventing this?

[Review] if you have cc’s get in here! - MUAC azelaic/salicylic acid
Beauty Tips For Body Care
After 7 years of struggling with cc’s I finally came across a product/routine that cleared most of them up in less than 2 weeks. I have combo skin that’s super prone to cc’s especially with makeup and moisturizers even though I triple cleanse. Some ingredients can cause contact dermatitis for me which can be a devastating setback when trying to get rid of cc’s. I’ve tried a million things. What really helped me first was to focus on hydration. Just moisturize without any exfoliants (if you can) for about a week straight. I never moisturized properly because I was afraid it would just clog me up but by doing that I was making my skin dehydrated. Although this isn’t ground breaking news, I always ignored this advice until I discovered on vacation it actually works (I left a lot of my products at home by accident) and my tiny bumps were disappearing.Onto the product (which is not an ad by the way, I just stan):I’ve always liked Makeup Artists Choice products because they’re straight to the point, affordable for the most part and they just work. There’s almost always a 30% coupon around + you can buy generously sized samples (they also throw in a random one with your order). The downside is there’s alcohol in a lot of their products including this one, which can be an issue for some and a few of their products triggered my contact dermatitis (the mandelic acid serum & the gly-luronic serum that others rave about). I saw their Azelaic/Salicylic Gel and on a whim I ordered some samples - $4.50 for 3 grams and you don’t need a lot. It’s a lightweight, unscented, clear gel that’s kind of tacky but it doesn’t really need to dry down and it also doesn’t dry out my skin. There’s also niacinamide and licorice root extract in it. I wait about 10 minutes until I move to the next step. After 4 days I’d say 40% of my cc’s were gone. This gel in combination with properly moisturizing & sticking to the same routine has my skin looking the best it has in FOREVER. I still have to wear foundation due to hyperpigmentation (I’m a picker) but now it goes on smoothly & overall looks better and I can shift my focus to getting rid of the dark spots. I’m hoping to downgrade to tinted moisturizer by January crosses fingersMUAC has a lot of great products (another one is the .30% retinol) but if you’re gonna get anything from them, please get the azelaic/salicylic gel. 60% of the reason why my skin clearing is because of this gel. The full size is kind of expensive - $39, but like I said they always have a 30-40% coupon going around once or twice a month.*sorry, no before and after because I couldn’t look at my skin.Routine:AM - Acne.org cleanser - good basic cleanser - Stratia rewind (niacinamide) - game changer when used consistently & helps with texture + helps your skin hold hydration better. *also made my skin less oily - Neutrogena hydro boost gel cream (fragrance free) - great water based lightweight moisturizer to go under a heavier one or oil if you have dehydrated skin - Stratia liquid gold - using this and the hydroboost on damp skin eliminated the dehydration + super tiny bumps. Ceramides are super important for repairing your skin barrier. I’ll purchase this for the rest of my life. - The Ordinary Ascorbic Acid + Alpha Arbutin - using this for hyperpigmentation but it’s too early to tell if it’s workingPM - Bioderma micellar water to remove the makeup - Banila clean it co. (original) to get the remainder off - Acne.org cleanser - MUAC azelaic acid/salicylic gel at least 4x a week and MUAC .30 retinol the other 2 days. I give my skin a break from all chemical exfoliants once a week - Stratia rewind - Neutrogena hydro boost gel cream - Stratia liquid gold - youth to the people dream mask if I’m feeling spicy (aka dry) - The Ordinary reservatrol + ferulic acid 1x or 2x a weekI sincerely hopes this helps anyone struggling with cc’s. You can’t spell comedones without demons.

[PSA] Timeless EU(UK) is full of frauds! (long rant - but I never had trouble shopping with Timeless US as it gets forwarded to me)
Beauty Tips For Body Care
TL;DR version: Timeless EU(UK)'s customer service is abysmal at best. My package never got delivered due to incomplete address (not true). I asked for a refund and refused, saying that I had to pay shipping fee to have it resent (not true according to their own FAQ and Terms & Conditions). I told them I need it urgently before I have to leave for my wedding in a week and will be away for 1 month. They said oops reshipping is only when the item is back at warehouse (not true - tracking said it was delivered on 24 October).EU people, I urge you to go to Timeless US directly!Long versionI'm so horribly pissed and heartbroken at Timeless EU. I ordered the 4oz bottle a month ago and never arrived. The tracking says that the address is incomplete (it's the exact same address and syntax I've used for the other 500.000 online purchases I've done) and it was eventually returned to Timeless EU/UK.I proceeded to contact them via e-mail and phonecall. They claimed they could not be held responsible if the address is incorrect, which it was not. The order e-mail confirmation and the tracking show the exact same address that I put in (unfortunately I cannot display my address here). They also said that they cannot be held responsible if the package is returned if I was not home as it is my responsibility to receive the package.I get that. But as this is my 1gajillionth online purchase and have had my stuff delivered by 3 different national postal services and 5 other private couriers over the past 10 years, never once had I not received a notification/slip when I fail to receive my package. I always received proper notification. They shifted the blame on me on not tracking the package properly and did not react to any of the so many notifications on the website of the courier. I did not receive any notification in my e-mail, phone or mailbox whatsoever.I requested for a refund and here's what they saidhttps://preview.redd.it/5o89hbf7swv31.png?width=1274&format=png&auto=webp&s=40e3813049cf26d059c6c272effa3f41c5ed9f48https://preview.redd.it/b8dt13d8swv31.png?width=750&format=png&auto=webp&s=a7d62074b95415a07654c85ba4a9964501f8ad06But I need this before 8 November as I'm leaving for my wedding in husb's homecountry and will be away for a month, so I gave up and opted for the reshipping. Beauty Tips For Body Care
this is all specific for me. but the overall theme is that this sub has lots of great info and assumptions you’ve been making might be wrong and easily corrected.i’m a 40 year old man with combination skin (only get whiteheads on my chin and sometimes cheeks, and jawline.my chin and skin near mouth is drier and appears white if i don’t use lotionfor the longest time i thought dry non greasy skin means clean means betterthen i read some faq on here and got help from a user. i then realized dry skin contributes to pimples.it seems dry skin is fldamaged and opens itself up to tiny bacteria infections because the natural protection is not good.i now use vanicream skin cleanser and cerave PM lotion. i use the PM lotion only the AM breaks me outand almost overnight the frequency of my whiteheads went to zeroinstead of 1 or 2 constantly coming or going, now it’s a blue moon, maybe once every two weeks. and it goes away easilyi use the PM lotion even in the morning. and that vanicream face wash, it doesn’t leave my skin super dry and i think the absence of some chemicals probably is helping me a tonso i only use two things no hassle. perfect for a lazy man like mecheck out the faqs and ask questions specific to you. it is possible you can do it

[PSA] Have an oil cleanser you don’t like?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Use it to clean your beauty blenders!! I have a couple of oil cleansers that didn’t really work for my skin. I used them to clean my sponges and they were the cleanest they have ever been since I’ve used them. I follow up with regular soap to basically double cleanse my sponges.I’ve tried oils but I have to wash them so many times to wash out the oils. With an oil cleanser I just make sure to massage the oil all over, emulsify then wash with a soap. So far this has been really successful for me.

[Routine Help] Working 35+ hours a week in fast food kitchen
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I've been very on off, not very committed to skin care for a while, but I've been working in a McDonald's kitchen for the past 7 months and feeling pretty run down. I want to look good, but I'm wondering if it's possible or worth it. My hands have some sort of reaction to our gloves causing them to get ugly marks on them and I'm constantly getting white heads and other things on my face (don't really know the terminology sorry). So any suggestions, are there good routines for fast food workers? Any tips are also greatly appreciated thanks!

[Product question] TO azelaic acid
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I’ve been using TO azeliac acid for a few years and it has honestly been the holy grail that has cured my adult acne. It recently was out of stock for quite some time and I finally got ahold of some directly from DICIEM. Have y’all noticed a change??! First of all, the wonderful brand new pool floaty smell is gone and second the texture is much smoother. I have noticed it not working as well. I can’t find any info that they changed formulation but I know they they did something! I am greatly concerned that my skin is starting to take a turn and I really really miss that beautiful plastic smell. Do any of you know what the heck they did?

I’ve been using TO azeliac acid for a few years and it has honestly been the holy grail that has cured my adult acne. It recently was out of stock for quite some time and I finally got ahold of some directly from DICIEM. Have y’all noticed a change??! First of all, the wonderful brand new pool floaty smell is gone and second the texture is much smoother. I have noticed it not working as well. [Personal] It’s working!
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Seven months ago, I began a regimen with tretinoin 0.025% and have been strict with myself about never going a day without SPF and my nightly routine. It’s paying off! I wish I had before shots, but in the past week alone, on three separate occasions I was asked what I was doing because my skin looked so good. I know it sounds a bit weird, but as a mom and 41, any compliment makes for a great day! Thanks SCA for the continued advice!

[skin concerns] Anyone with tips for reducing the appearance of spider veins?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi all, so recently I’ve noticed some spider veins forming around my nose and it’s making me super self conscious. I’ve put a lot of work into overhauling my skincare routine and my formerly acne-ridden skin is almost all clear, except now I have these little red veins at the corners of my nose. Any insight as to what may help would be super appreciated!

[Skin Concern] Looking for ultra-moisturizing hand lotions that don’t feel like lotion
Beauty Tips For Body Care
especially around the fall and winter my hands get incredibly dry to the point where they crack, turn white-ish in the cracks, will get cut/scratched super easily, and occasionally my knuckles will randomly bleed. now, the problem is i cannot stand my hands feeling oily and get super annoyed when the lotion transfers to my phone and smears the screen or paper if i’m writing (it’s a diagnosed ocd thing). my skin is also pretty sensitive so i swear by cocoa butter for the rest of my body. i’ve found it’s too thick for my hands though and i’m also worried about touching my face with it since it has coconut oil which makes my acne flare up. i love moisturizing hand masks but i want something i can reapply throughout the day. i know it’s a lot of specifics but if anyone has any suggestions at all, whatever the price, i’m willing to try it! my hands are so desperate for a good moisturizer at this point haha and i’m hopeful this sub might have some answers. thank you so much in advance :)

[Skin Concern] Will hyperpigmentation from a chemical burn ever fade 100%?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
So i got a chemical burn on my face. I wanna know how long it’ll take for the pigmentation to fade? It was a 2nd degree burn as it tore through my epidermis. The skin has completely healed and there are no scars just pigmentation. Will it ever completely fade? How long does hyperpigmentation from a burn instead of like something minor like acne take?

[Acne] Anyone had problems with teeny tiny bumps that have stayed exactly the same (never got rid of them, but haven't developed any new ones since the first ones appeared either?)
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I don't want to jump on the fungal acne bandwagon because I know it's actually not that common, but does fungal acne sometimes develop and then hang around for months/years without either getting worse or getting better? I'm out of ideas as to what else it could be.I have a little cluster of tiny bumps (1mm at most, but I think the majority are even tinier than this) in between my eyebrows that developed after I had laser treatment for an acne scar. The distribution is a bit bigger than the laser area, which makes me think they were either caused by the steroid cream or vaseline I was told to use post-laser.Here's the thing: I haven't developed any new bumps since shortly after the laser healing process (right at the beginning of this year) but the ones I have don't go anywhere. They've been squeezed (bad, I know), I've used tretinoin for 4 months, tried at-home chemical peels, tried microdermabrasion... nothing makes them go away. The only change I notice in them is that hot showers/hot weather seems to make them a little bit more prominent, and then they get a tiny bit flatter when I'm colder. They're so tiny you can only tell that they're individual bumps up close, but because they're in a cluster/surrounding the acne scar, from a normal distance the cluster looks raised up and catches the light.I wondered if they were milia to begin with and had a few of them electro-cauterised by a dermatologist. They seemed to flatten briefly but then the same bumps just came back, in exactly the same places.Just wondered if these sound familiar to anyone, and if anything helped for those with similar issues?I've just started using Nizoral a couple of days ago because I figured it probably wouldn't hurt to try, but seen no difference yet (not sure how long it normally takes on the off-chance that it is fungal acne). Thanks in advance! :)

I used to use Banila Co. but they all have fragrance. The only one I'm familiar with that doesn't have fragrance or essential oils (99% sure, that is) is the Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm. Not a fan of liquid oil cleansers so I'm looking strictly for a balm! Any brand or price, online or in store, etc. I don't care!Sound off people!!EDIT: I currently have TO Squalene Cleaner!!

[Skin Concern] AHA gentle enough for dry, sensitive congested skin?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
My skin became extremely congested during my vacation since I didn’t have a real way to exfoliate besides maybe an oil cleanser. I prefer not to scrub but not I need a way to get rid of all these bumpy comedonal acne I have acquired during these past few days. I would like to look into an AHA exfoliant gentle enough for my skin type , preferably maybe a wash?Edit: I have heard lactic acid works best for sensitive skin rather than glycolic which could irritate , bonus points for lactic acid :) .

[routine help] Benzoyl Peroxide advice please!
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I was prescribed Duac for perioral dermatitis some months ago and have found it (BP and clindamyacin) to work SO GOOD on drying up spots (oily, blemish prone, non sensitive skin) however I’ve been reluctant to use it (except on reeeeally bad breakouts when I’m desperate) because of the antibiotic content. Is this right ?? Am I being naughty by using it intermittently and risking becoming patient zero of a supervirus?? Should I save it for PD flare ups ?? I’ve seen people online talking about using duac continually for really extended periods of time but I don’t want to develop resistance to it.SO in light of this I’ve bought a BP gel to use freely in its place and I have a couple of questions, first off is short contact therapy worth it if my skin is already adjusted to BP and are the results as good as they would be if I left it on overnight ??Secondly, in order to minimise any possible dryness, can I use the gel under a facial oil or would this reduce the effectiveness//stop it sinking in or working properly ??Thank you!!

[Acne] very small bumps all over nose for a really long time
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I’ve had these very small skin coloured bumps all over my nose for more than 4 years now. I have oily skin especially around my t-zone and i’m 18 years old. I’ve been to the GP and have been prescribed benzoyl peroxide and duac. Both cleared the other acne around my face and slightly lessened the appearance of the “bumps” on my nose but both eventually stopped working on my face overall and I even had a dermatologist appointment who told me the “bumps” were milia and received duac once again which doesn’t work on my face anymore at all.I’ve had these bumps for so long and they make me extremely self-conscious and just don’t seem to ever go away and I need some help or advice to get them gone 😠⬇️this is a picture of what it looks like

Tinted Eye Cream Reccomendations
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hello! I'm very interested in the Ole Henriksen Banana Bright Eye Creme but before I spend $38 on it...I wanted to see if there were other tinted eye creams on the market that produced similar or even better results. I have blurple dark circles that extend 1/4 the way out from my inner corner and I was thinking a tinted eye cream might reduce the amount of concealer I need to cover them. If anyone has any suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated

[Routine Help] What after spot treatment?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I have had suffered from cystic acne but after a long and expensive treatment it's very much under control. I didn't know anything about skincare but after having these pimples I read a lot about skincare on the net and stumbled upon this subreddit. I am overwhelmed by the shelfies and elaborate routines. Even the simplest routine is of 8 steps if I ain't wrong. I've decided to start a routine. Will it be a worthy experience? I am asking this because when I asked my dermatologist about a routine he said that a face wash, benzoyl peroxide and a niacinamide tubes would do the work. My main question is shall I stop at spot treatment or shall I go all the way to SPF. My acne is almost gone but scars are very much visible. My skin is oily. I am an 18 year old Indian (why many people claim that Indians don't require SPF?) male. I ain't exposed to the sun much.

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi guys - so I am someone that loves using oils on my face. Currently I’m using Rosehip Oil & Squalane oil. But I saw the FutureDew has everything I basically want: squalane, jojoba, evening primrose, grapeseed oil, rosehip oils.Has anyone tried it? Is it worth it? Is there a “dupe” for this with the same kind of oils?I thought I read that there is shimmer in it.. if that’s true I definitely don’t want it lol.

[Skin Concerns] Glass Skin for brown people?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Repost because I forgot to put the tag in the original one LOL.Anyway, I was watching a lot of k-beauty videos and I really liked the 'glass skin' effect that some of the youtubers had. I know that there are a lot of tutorials detailing the steps needed to achieve glass skin but I can't really seem to find one for brown people (as I am of South Asian descent). I was wondering if its possible to achieve smth similar to the glass skin for brown ppl, or does the glass skin effect just show up more obviously on fair-skinned people?

[Acne] Question about flat under skin pimple
Beauty Tips For Body Care
So I have one of those under skin pimples that get red and sometimes hurt. Mine was red and didn’t really hurt. I’ve been using salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide to wash my face and for spot treatment along with hydrocolloid dots. The pimple is mostly flat (still a tiny bump) but decently red and dry. What would you all say is the proper next course of action? Thanks!

[Product Question] Does anyone know about a good moisturizer for my broke self?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi y'all, I'm looking for a good non comedogenic cream that won't put me in debt, I'm a student so I can't afford to pay 40$ for a tiny bottle of cream... My skin is acne prone, or more likely blackhead prone and CC prone, so I have to pay attention to what I put on it so that it doesn't freak out... With winter coming, it's gonna be more on the dry side so I need some help, I already tried Cerave but it broke me out so I feel at loss. Thanks for your help!

[Personal] word vomit: finally going to the doctor for acne!
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I’m so relieved to get a medical opinion on what the hell has been going on with my face but I’m also worried that my expectations are way too high about the outcome of the visit. For starters I’m afraid the doctor will not take my concerns seriously and I won’t get them addressed or solved. I’m also afraid that if she prescribes something for me, it’s not going to work or it’ll make the problem worse and I’ll end up really disappointed. I can’t help getting my hopes up though— I’m just so sick of hating my face and I just want to finally feel beautiful again instead of embarrassed. I’m tired of the frusturation of thinking a product will finally work for me and then it inevitably never does. My friend is an aesthetician and when I told him I was going to a doctor he said it was a waste of time and that I should instead see this one facialist who’s really amazing, that I just need to be more paitient with finding the right product, etc. and I just wanted to scream. I’ve been dealing with this for almost a year and a half and there is no improvement with anything I try out or eliminate. There is an extremely clear pattern that persists no matter what and I just feel like there is something internally wrong that’s not going to be fixed with regular topical treatments. No matter what, I break out in very deep cysts for about 2 weeks, my skin will suddenly clear for about a day, but then overnight or even within a few hours I will break out again in new deep cysts, and this cycle had been repeating over and over since last August. I just need answerrrrs and I need it to stoppppp. So if you’ve cared to read this far, please wish me luck that my doctor visit will be the miracle that my ugly ass face needs and is the first step to the glow up I deserve, and whatever the hell is going on inside my body gets cured.

[Routine Help] AHA/BHA peel 2x/week versus a lower strength acid nightly
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I’ve been using Paula’s Choice 10% AHA and 2% BHA on alternating nights for 2 years now, and I’ve had decent success with them.I recently started using TO’s AHA/BHA peel (30% AHA, 10% BHA I believe) once a week, then Paula’s Choice the other 6 days.My question is — is it redundant to use both? Would it be better to just use the peel once (maybe twice) a week and stop using PC, or should I keep both in my routine? I like the peel a lot and would prefer fewer steps, if I can.

I'm only in the lowest tier, and I still got it. My ass has spent way more at Sephora, and I'll still be only getting 15% off, which I doubt I'll be using. Will probably be grabbing some Indeed Labs and Curel products, or maybe a Trilogy oil. Let me know if you have any recommendations.

[PSA] The FTC is accepting public comment on their decision for the Sunday Riley review scandal
Beauty Tips For Body Care
As many of you know, Sunday Riley was caught writing fake reviews of their products on Sephora (scroll down to Sunday Riley). Here is the official summary of the complaint (it's particularly damning seeing the email content). Unfortunately, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) only gave them a light wrist slap as punishment and they are not being fined. In other words, Sunday Riley is not being fined for illegally (I presume?) misleading customers and only has to promise not to do it again (at least for 20 years) *eye roll*.Interestingly, two commissioners (Chopra and Slaughter) have come out with a public statement criticizing the FTC's decision as well.If you didn't agree with the FTC's decision and you want to do something about it, your voice can be heard (by November 25th at the latest!)! I noticed the following statement on the FTC site (bold emphasis added):The Commission vote approving the administrative complaint and proposed consent order in the Sunday Riley matter was 3-2, with Commissioners Rohit Chopra and Rebecca Kelly Slaughter voting no. Commissioner Chopra issued a separate statement, in which he was joined by Commissioner Slaughter. The public may submit comments on the proposed consent order through Regulations.gov, which will be available to accept comments starting Friday, October 25, 2019. Prior to publication in the Federal Register, the public may email comments to [secretary@ftc.gov](mailto:secretary@ftc.gov).Comments will be accepted for 30 days from publication in the Federal Register, after which the Commission will decide whether to make the proposed consent order final. Comments received will be posted on Regulations.gov.- SourceI wanted to share this with folks as there seem to be a lot of disgruntled people here. I do want to point out that I'm aware many brands do these kinds of practices (and haven't been caught) but complaining about the FTC's decision might actually help to set a precedent for all brands if there are more serious consequences to this kind of manipulation. Chopra and Slaughter's statement speaks to this somewhat.

[Skin Concerns] Winter is coming to the northern hemisphere. What are your HG products for dry skin?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I'm always looking for new dry skin recommendations because my skin is the Sahara in the winter time (and combo in the spring/summer from the humidity).Right now my only HGs are Dr. Jart's Ceramidin cream and Kicho's Sheep Oil cream. They are the only heavy moisturizers that my skin just drinks up. Also marula oil!Still looking for a good non-drying cleanser for the winter. I've been using Glossier's Milky Jelly but that one doesn't make my face feel clean. Same with Cerave's hydrating cleanser. Both of those feel like they leave a film. What are your HG dry skin products?

[Skin Concerns] Is taking two showers severely detrimental to skin health?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I recently began going to the gym. I am a morning person, but in order to feel awake I need to take a shower in the morning. Because of my schedule, I can only go to the gym in the evening. After the gym, I obviously need to take a shower as well. Will taking two showers severely dry/damage my skin? How warm and long should the showers be if I shower twice a day (for about 5 days a week)?

[Skin Concerns] Need to have a rant about my acne
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I've been on tetracycline, erythromycin, lymecycline, benzoyl peroxide, topical shit, other oral medications I can't remember the name. Loads of shop bought skincare products and regimes before and after that.I've had bad acne since the last year of primary school, I was 10 years old when it started, I was the only one who had it in my school year. I'm 19 now, nearly half my life with fucking acne.I've been on two courses of high dosage roaccutane/isotretinion or however you like to call it, each time for over a year. The NHS dermatologist consultant I used to see called her colleagues into her office to discuss my medication because she hadn't seen someone with such an unusually long and high dose before. I was having blood tests every few weeks to make sure my liver could take it.And after I ended both those courses of it, long as they were, all the dry skin and nosebleeds and sensitivity to the sun, I was on no medication, and the acne FUCKING CAME BACK AGAIN, TIME AND TIME AGAIN. Both times after roaccutane it came back again, the first time just as bad, the second time a bit better but still quite big on my cheeks and leaving so many big purple marks all over my cheeks and dips in my temples and forehead. And my last course of roaccutane was over 4 years ago. All that relatively clear skin for the last few months of the course gone completely, wiped away by wave after wave after wave of unrelenting red bumps and whiteheads and big purple scars. I can see two big lumps on my right cheek now just by pointing my eye down. I've been taking lymecycline prescribed by my GP for over two years now and it just keeps it in this state, I suppose I should be grateful it doesn't regress and go back to how it was in secondary school.Fucking reeeeeee, sorry, it's late at night sad nibba hours and i'm reflecting on the ugly state of my face. Kids stare at me in the street when I walk to university and go past three schools. Good job no one ever sees me without a shirt because there isn't any decent skin on my chest and upper back, just pockmarked and ravaged with scars and dots.

[Skin Concerns] Differin 6 Month Update: Should I Continue? :'(
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Soooo, I've been using Differin 0.1% gel for a little over 6 months now and I have noticed some nice changes in my skin. Most of my closed comedones are gone but I have some smaller ones left along with some weird texture.By six months I was expecting Differin to smooth out my skin but my skin still looks very bumpy and I'm wondering if I should continue or if I should stop and try a different routine with acids.Pics:beforebeforeafterafterSkin Type: Oily (but now a little dry bc of Differin)/ CombinationRoutines:MorningCleanse with organic hemp bar soapMoisturize with Neutrogena Hydroboost gelCoppertone Defend & Care Face Sunscreen (SPF 50)NightCleanse with organic hemp bar soapDifferin 0.1% GelMoisturize with Neutrogena Hydroboost gelSide thoughts: I also feel like maybe I'm too young to be using Differin...idk I really don't want to ruin my skin it feels better than before it's just the texture is never smooth. As you can see in the pictures, it's like you can see all my pores...(sigh, all I want is smooth skin and fewer hyperpigmentation thanks for reading this far!)

[Anti-Aging] Any recent research/experiences with the efficacy of MAP vs L-AA Vitamin C?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I've been interested in trying some new products in my routine, particularly Vitamin C (eyeing the Timeless Hyaluronic Acid Vitamin C Serum), and it seems to be somewhat of a rabbit hole (as all things skincare seem to be, hah). I've been reading about L-AA vs MAP, and opinions are quite varied. The issue for me is that most of the articles/research people point to are over 4-5 years old now, so I thought that perhaps there might be some newer research I've missed (specifically regarding the efficacy of MAP).So, have there been any recent research/studies published on how effective MAP is vs L-AA? Or, lacking that, would anyone like to share their experiences with using a MAP form of Vitamin C?

[Skin Concerns] The infamous 'orange peel texture' -- is it almost always dehydrated skin / damaged moisture barrier? Has anyone here actually 'cured' theirs?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Like the title says. I've been searching this sub but it seems like half the time people say it's dehydration/damaged moisture barrier and the other half recommend bha/aha and even tretinoin. So, is that dreaded orange peel texture due to dehydration or needing actives? How can I get rid of it for good, and how do I make sure I don't end up right back here after adding any actives back in later?ETA: My current routine is like so--AM:Vanicream's Gentle CleanserTO's Niacinamide (wait 30 min)Melano Vitamin C SerumSake High Moisture Skin Lotion Toner By KikumasamuneTO's Natural Hydrating Factors + HAPM:Oil cleanseTret 0.05% (been on it for 7 months or so)Sake High Moisture Skin Lotion Toner By KikumasamuneCOSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power EssenceVanicream Moisturizing Skin CreamSometimes I put Aquaphor on top.

[Skin Concerns] How to prevent pimples caused by growing chin hairs?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
As I age, the hairs on my chin get longer and darker. It's to the point where I have to pluck them otherwise I look like I'm growing a beard.Unfortunately every time the hairs start growing back, they form a pimple (ingrown maybe?) that fills with pus and then only pops when the hair gets longer. As a result I always have pimples on my chin. They are either starting from the hair growing, full blown filled, red, and painful, or a red scar as they heal from the hair coming in.I use pixie glow tonic every other day to every two days, Bioderma hydrabio serum and bioderma hydrabio crème. The pixie glow tonic is great at gently exfoliating my regular pimples away, but unfortunately the ingrown hair-pimples come with a vengence and stay until I pluck the hair, and by that time the hair is growing back so the pimples come back again!I've also tried waxing, which made me break out even more, and I used to shave, but I hated the way it grew back, and I don't really like shaving ALL the hair off, I just want the dark ones removed.Any suggestions?

[acne] I think I have FINALLY found a solution for my adult cystic acne!
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I have been dealing with hormonal and stress driven cystic acne for years, mostly on my chin and jawline. I have tried almost everything in the book except for Accutane.About 4 months ago, I stopped drinking coffee cold turkey and switched over to green tea. In the last month, I also started making home made bone broth and have between 1-2 cups a day.I have not broken out in almost 2 months now (!!!). I recently was traveling for work for three weeks and I always break out when traveling. I didn’t get one pimple! My skin has been clear, plump, and glowing and I swear the green tea and bone broth have something to do with it.I do also use the Drunk Elephant night serum and vitamin C serum. As well as the Good Genes Lactic Acid treatment!

[Product Question] English v ‘American’ Cerave
Beauty Tips For Body Care
A few months ago, I bought a big tub of Cerave as it wasn’t in the UK at that time, or at least I’d never seen it. It had a nice ‘whipped’ feel to it and was great.Today, I was in Boots and found a similar sized tub of Cerave. It was quite wet and felt quite greasy though. Are there differences between the consistency between countries? I’d usually just buy some, but at £12 a tub in Boots I’m not sure how it will sit on my skin!

[Acne] I actually started caring about my skin and I've gained SO much confidence
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I'm a 19 year old male and up until 6 months ago I've never took care of my skin. I'd constantly pick at spots and scabs and make them bleed, I'd squeeze anything that looks squeezable, just all around did pretty much anything possible to worsen my skin. I met a high school friend for the first time in about 3 months and I'd noticed that his face was super clean. The last time I saw him he had sort of moderate acne but It's not something I've ever thought about until I saw him without it. Kind of made me jealous but also curious of what I could do with my skin, so I started taking care of it.I started doing things inconsistently because in the past I've tried a moisturiser, or a face wash, wasn't impressed with the results and stopped doing it. My first things I started doing where washing my face each day - or when I remembered - and I began to use honey as a mask. I saw a little improvement over a month so I went all in and started changing things in every aspect of my life. All these things below I've done consistently for around 4/5 months and I feel they've all contributed to huge improvement with my skin!I washed my face twice a day, with water, when I wake up and before I go to bed. Also about 5 times a week I use a face wash and a face scrub in the shower, and always moisturise afterwards.I wash my hands so much more than I used to. Every time I head upstairs in my house or downstairs, I wash my hands. I wash my hands between lessons in college too.I started reducing the amount of milk and sugar I drink. I no longer drink sugary/milky coffee/tea, and instead drink them both black. Read alot about dairy causing breakouts and such so I reduced my main intake of dairy. Also, I drink a shit ton of water. Like, 3-4 litres plus every single day.I stopped having fast food. I have never been a big fast food eater, maybe once a week at the absolute most and that's usually when I'm with friends - I feel the need to get something to eat with them. Well, I stopped. In 6 months I've had half a pot of KFC popcorn and a chicken breast. That's is, I go out of the way whenever eating with friends to get something organic, or to get fruit or something that is healthy.I've stopped touching, scratching and picking at my face. I don't even touch my face really unless I've just washed my hands. I also don't wipe or rub my face with a towel or anything anymore either. I just dab, or hold the towel onto my skin.I started exercising a lot more. I do around 4-6 hours of moderately intensive exercise a week. I've included this because I honestly just feel cleaner and fresher when I exercise more.6 months or so ago, my neck was riddled with spots, I had super dry flaky skin on my nose, my cheeks were incredibly red, riddled with blackheads and whiteheads and cysts. Similarly just under my mouth, my temples and above my eyebrows. Now I can count two smaller cyst looking things which I pay very little attention to, and one whitehead which comes and goes from time to time on my jawline. I have little to no redness on my face anymore, it's not dry and it's not oily, I couldn't be happier :)

[Personal] Today my cousin came to me and cried after attempting to whiten her skin
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I'm devastated. If you read this story and feel related or you're in the same situation, don't make the same mistake my cousin did.Today my cousin called me and cried badly. I asked her what's wrong and she told me she fucked up, she couldn't stand looking at herself in the mirror anymore because she thought she looked so hideous. I asked for more details and eventually, she told me about her whitening journey. She lives in Asia, and you know how Asians praise the glass, milky skin. My cousin doesn't have that kind of skin. She loves outdoor activities and she had been in a swimming team for years but she stopped because her classmates were starting to pick on her for her brown skin. She said they wouldn't let her group up with them in the PE class, or they would cut her out of a group selfie. Out of pressure, she hid her parents and decided to buy skin whitening creams sold on the internet by a girl in her school (she's like 15?). She has been using for 4 months and her skin got whitened within 14 days which was insane. She used all her saving money for whitening cream but this month she ran out of money so /fortunately/, she couldn't get it. It made her depressed. One week of not using the cream and now her skin is freaking her out. She showed me photos of her skin and I was shocked. Her skin right now is so pale you can see so many veins on her skin, it doesn't even look like she has any layers of skin left. The color between her neck and her face is like 8 shades different. There are huge, red, angry pimples all over her cheeks and they look hurt to even touch it. Her eye areas are swollen. She looks nothing like the last time I saw her. Her parents have been thinking it's a bad allergic reaction since she's too afraid to tell them she used all the money for skin-whitening products. She said she wanted to kill herself because now her friends would think she's too ugly and they would start talking about her back again which makes studying harder for her. I hate to see my 14 year old cousin goes through this. She shouldn't have hated her skin, or should feel like she needs a certain skin color to be liked. There should of been no beauty standard that my sister feels obligated to follow. Please, if you're seeking to whiten your skin color, be wise. Don't risk your skin over some creams being advertised on the internet. If you can, try to love your skin. If you use any social media, don't try to always follow "influencers" and feel obligated to follow a certain beauty standard. You're not doing yourself any good.

[misc] Tip: Put scrunchies around your forearms to stop water running all down your elbows and wetting everything when you wash your face at the sink.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Just discovered this today after i finally got fed up with the annoying wet elbow dilemma. The scrunchies cause the water to drip into the sink instead of all over your bench and floor, if you position them properly. Thought there might be others out there like me who could use this tip.

[Misc] I hate to admit this and post this in a thread of skincare addicts, but does anyone else have a hard time with not picking at their face? What do you do to break this habit?

I’m not horrible, but I’m pretty darn bad. I like to pick at my face and my boyfriends face too. Anything white gets my attention then I just go crazy. I know this is horrible, but it’s something i’ve been bad with since I had my first pimple many many years ago. Any advice?

[Misc] Krave is deleting some negative comments about their new cream from IG
Beauty Tips For Body Care
So I (skin type: dry, sensitive, prone to eczema) bought the entire Krave line recently and I’m not responding well to it, particularly the disappointing Oat So Simple. I read comments on their IG from customers having the same negative reactions and I posted one myself (very polite.) My comment as well as MANY others I had read were deleted and a handful were answered-they are HEAVILY curating their comments right now. Not that no other brand does this, they definitely do, but it’s something I didn’t expect from this particular brand.

[Misc] The Laneige Cream Skin series is coming out with a "Milk Oil Cleanser"
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I've been seeing posts about this on various Instagram pages (all korea-based I believe) but nothing elsewhere (if anyone has more info/links do let me know, thanks!). It was even linked to the IG page of Laneige but I didn't see anything there (it was probably a story that expired).Anyway I am super hyped about this as the original Cream Skin Refiner has done wonders for my dry skin, esp at this time of year where the weather is dry and cold and will only get worse (I live in Norway).FIY In the AM I splash water, use a vit C serum, do one layer of Cream Skin Refiner then apply my Purito Centella Sunscreen and my skin is happily moisturised all day.One thing that's confusing me though, since the name has both "milk" (like a second step cleanser) and "oil" (like a first step cleanser), which cleansing step would it be? Or like their original Cream Skin could it be a hybrid duo cleanser product? :o Just making wide guesses here..Update: the person who posted it on her story said the post was from a Korean review app and that it will be released in Korea in November.Screenshot of IG story post

I found my holy grail next to the orange chicken: a skincare love story [personal]
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Tl;dr, go to Trader Joe’s, their ultra hydrating gel moisturizer is better than neutrogena hydro boost gel and costs 9 dollars. If you wanna know way too much about my life, have fun with this nonsense, and I’m sorry in advance!I’ve never had great skin. For most of my life, my skin has been fine. Just fine. Never got a “oh my gosh you have amazing skin” from a drunk girl in a bathroom, no one has ever told me that I look glowy. I always had closed comedones, but not so many that they were horrific or really really bothered me. I washed my face only in the shower, with whatever I picked up at the drugstore that said “for oily skin”. I occasionally got a pimple, but usually just slapped some spot treatment on it and it usually vanished in a few days. Moisturized when i remembered to (so like every 5 days or so). My skin was fine. And then came the Breakup. The Breakup happened around three months ago, and it was (and sometimes still is) fucking awful. He was the first guy I ever really, truly loved, and who made me feel truly loved. In the end, we just weren’t right for each other. But the way it ended was fucking awful (mostly on his part honestly). And as soon as it happened, my skin went fucking psycho. Giant, bright red pimples all over my forehead, weird tiny red ones on my chin, random super dry scaly patches between and underneath my eyebrows; plus acne all over my shoulders! Because that’s what I needed as a freshly dumped 19 year old.I made an emergency appointment with my little brother’s derm and poured my soul out to the poor nurse assisting her, with her gorgeous face and her perfect skin and her engagement ring. The derm prescribed me doxycycline, epiduo for my face, and clindamyacin lotion for my shoulders and told me to find a good moisturizer. And thus came my intro to SCA.Holy fuck you guys love moisturizer. After a little bit of browsing, I figured I should probably set about finding a basic one with hyaluronic acid in it, so I started with the neutrogena hydrogel and liked it a lot! It really helped my skin, kept me from getting too dry on the epiduo, and was generally good. But I really wanted something that was similar, but had less fragrance and no color, two things I’m really sensitive to.And then I found it. In Trader Joe’s, while buying toffee covered pretzels, brie, and dried juicy mandarin oranges (yes those are my go to sadness foods. no i will not be judged). The Ultra Hydrating Gel Moisturizer, with aloe and green tea extract. Holy shit. Not only does it have hyaluronic acid, aloe, and is fragrance and dye free, but it’s 9 dollars. NINE DOLLARS. My skin has never felt smoother or more hydrated in my life. I’m obsessed. I’m shouting it from the hilltops. GO TO TRADER JOES. THEY WEIRDLY MAKE REALLY GOOD FACE MOISTURIZER. My skin now looks so good and so much better than even before the Breakup happened that my ex tried to get back with me last week, and said I looked really good when he did it. I didn’t have any makeup on. But now I know my worth, and I told him no. Thank you, moisturizer.

[misc] to the people with genetically poor skin, bad acne, bad scarring, big pores, what helped you the most?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
i'm not trying to shove anyone away but, I don't wanna hear from someone that already had nice skin and threw in a serum and "omg it made my skin glow"! i'm talking like real transformations, people that had bad acne, scarring, whether it be actual indented scars or just PIE or PIH. people with really noticeable pores. people with CC's, badly textured skin, what really made a huge difference? what was your skin concern? how long did it take?

[B&A] (24F) Good salicylic acid, great hydrating moisturizer, and plenty of sunscreen do wonders. I can’t believe my skin did that and I couldn’t be more grateful. 2018-2019

[Acne] I’ve had forehead bumps consistently for 5 years, not a single day without them. Until august (the bottom picture) I started using AHA and BHA, my skin looked perfect over night but it didn’t last. In September they came back and have stayed (top picture is today) I don’t know what to do.HELP

[Routine Help] Do you tailor your routine to your hormonal cycle?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I've read a few articles/blogposts about tailoring your skincare routine to where you are in your hormonal cycle. However, I also know lots of skincare products/prescriptions are accompanied by the caveat that you may not see a result for weeks or even months. Could micro-managing with respect to the days of your cycle really have that much of an effect?Thoughts? Do you adjust your routine according to your hormonal cycle? Did you feel like it made a difference?
