[Skin Concerns] Should I not wash my face every day?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I have dry skin and struggle with some acne here and there. I've stopped using face cleansers as they made my skin even drier (and yes I moisturize every day twice a day) so now i just wash my skin with water every morning and night. But even that feels like too much, as my skin feels very tight afterwards and burns when i apply acne medicine/moisturizer. Should I skip washing sometimes and only use moisturizer? Especially with the colder weather approaching? TIA Can't seem to ever get this skincare thing down lol

[Sun Care] Does anyone else feel like their sunscreen bottles last longer than they should?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I apply sunscreen daily, and I'll reapply if I'm outside for a long time or if it's really sunny. While I don't measure it when I apply, I've stared at a 1/4 teaspoon measurement in my kitchen and I believe I'm applying about as much sunscreen. Yet these tiny sunscreen bottles seem to last forever. This isn't a question of how much sunscreen should we be applying or whether I'm applying enough. (Okay, the fact that the bottles last forever has me kind of questioning whether I am applying enough.) I'm just wondering, how is it mathematically possible that with all the sunscreen I wear, more sunscreen just keeps coming out of that little bottle? One example, I got a 10mL sample of one sunscreen a few weeks ago. I've been wearing it on weekdays when I don't go out (it's not elegant on my skin), but guess what, a few weeks later, and this little Mary Poppins bottle is still pumping out sunscreen.Anyone else experience this physics-defying magic?

[skin concerns] at the end of my tether please help me heal my skin

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi! Sorry for the long post but bear with me aim desperateI’ve posted a few times about my damaged moisture barrier and although I have gotten some great recommendations nothing seems to be helping me or giving me any relief … it’s causing me major anxiety it’s been almost 8 months since stopping all actives and having gentle routinesI’ve used almost everything people have recommended on this sub to heal my skin and everything BURNS .. I try a cream for a few weeks and then it starts burning and I get irritation and redness, inflammation and breakouts… it’s the same cycle over and over … my skin is so severely dry and chapped looking when I move my face it turns red around my mouth and nose and I can see the dry the skin and orange peel layers and throughout the day with TEWL it j becomes unbearableI have seen multiple dermatologists who keep saying just keep using “gentle” products but I am!! And it’s like my skin can’t handle anything even the most bland and simple creams are causing either irritant contact dermatitis because of my weakened barrierAs of right now this is what I’m trying it’s been a few weeks but it’s not helping either :( I don’t know if I need to be more patient..Am Splash with water Vaseline on damp skinPm Avene extremely gentle cleansing lotion Rince with water Vaseline in damp skinIs this effective enough to begin to heal my skin? I feel like Vaseline is so inert that it can’t do harm … i would honestly do nothing but my face is so dry that I worry it’s gonna make things so much worseI litterally cannot handle anything my skin is soooooo easily irritated and dry but also oily from the damage .. please tell me that this is not permanent because I’m really losing hopePlease I beg you for some suggestions and some success stories

[Personal] I have an acne friend at work now. ❤

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I work as a tech in a hospital, so the nurses are a bunch of women, of course. And they all have perfect hair, perfect skin, perfect makeup, etc. Except for one. She's pretty average, like me. I'm not hating at all, just acknowledging the differences.I walked into a conversation on skin care today and one of the nurses was saying that her morning routine is putting new makeup over the makeup left over from yesterday, otherwise she avoids washing her face unless she washes her hair, and she only washes her hair once a week.I looked at the other average girl and she looked at me and our expressions matched perfectly. 🤣Again, no hate! Some people are just lucky and I'm happy for them. It was just a bonding moment between us and I enjoyed it because I'm not really that close with any of the nurses.

[Routine Help] Cooler fall weather is flaring up my rosacea and causing dryness around nose/cheeks. What do I add or subtract? Maybe its my hot showers?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi all!Routine: (Using Rhofade and benzoyl peroxide only in trouble areas that do not overlap)AM - Cerave Foaming Gel Cleanser Oil Control face wash, Rhofade, benzoyl peroxide, La Roche Posay Double Repair Moisture w/SPF.PM - Cerave Foaming Gel Cleanser Oil Control face wash, Rhofade, benzoyl peroxide, La Roche Posay Cerave Moisturizing Cream.I stopped using Rhofade for about a month or so ago because I felt it wasn't doing anything to reduce redness, but started it back up once I started flaking around the nose assuming that was the issue going off of it. Although, I only went on Rhofade to reduce redness before this and there was no issues of dryness/flaking.It just so happened to be when the season started changing so thinking that could be causing this too :(Should I be moisturizing more or just giving the Rhofade time to calm down the rosacea if it will? I started it about a week ago and have noticed a POSSIBLE SLIGHT difference. Maybe the Cerave Oil Control is too aggressive in colder months and I should switch to Cerave Hydrating? Also, I have been showering more frequently the last month or so going back into the office. I do take hot showers, but never let the hot water hit my face. Is this safe or is the possible steam causing damage?Thank you for the advice in advance!!!

[Product question] My conundrum with Canmake mermaid gel spf50

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I have never liked the look and feel of a sunscreen as much as this, it's so lightweight and doesn't make my hair stick to my face. My problem is that I spend a lot of time outside and I am fitzpatrick skin type 1. I worry that the UVA protection isn't good enough, what do you think? The protection of this sunscreen doesn't seem to have been verified by any third party testing.

[Routine Help] I'm adding new products to my routine and I need your advice

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi everyone. So I'm planning to add products to my routine because I've noticed my skin getting drier from either the cleanser (the Inisfree Bija one) or the SPF (Etude House Mild Airy but switching to Canmake Mermaid UV soon)For context: my skin is oily, sometimes combo? I have prominent pores and skin texture and some fine lines (which I want to target too)Current AM Routine: Wash with water > SPFCurrent PM Routine: Cleanser > Mist > Benton Snail Bee Essence > Cosrx Rice Spa Mask (sometimes) > Rosehip oil on troubled areas (mostly undereyes but I think I got milia) I also use TO Lactic Acid 2 nights a weekI'm planning to add Benton Snail Bee High Content Lotion, Good Molecules Hyaluronic Acid Serum, Good Molecules Bakuchiol Oil Blend for Oily Skin, and Banila Co. Clean It Zero.Proposed AM Routine: Wash with water > Benton Snail Bee Essence > SPFProposed PM Routine: Banila Co. Clean It Zero > Cleanser > Mist > Good Molecules Hyaluronic Acid Serum > Benton Snail Bee High Content Lotion > Good Molecules Bakuchiol Oil Blend for Oily Skin and then TO 10% Lactic Acid 2 nights a weekMy questions: Would this new routine be good for reducing pores and texture or is it more for hydrating skin? Do I need another active or is Lactic Acid enough for now?Thank you so much! :)

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Please, Redditors, help a former skincare addict back in the groove in decision paralysis!I tried to structure this best as I could but it’s still a lot of info. All my “commentary” is at the end, but there’s still a lot! I apologize for that.To anyone who reads this, thank you for taking the time!Main QuestionsWhat should my routine look like to protect my sensitive, dry skin during winter? What might be good brands or products? What exfoliant and/of other product should I get get rid of the spots on my forehead?Bonus - really not important: * Do I need masks of some sort? What to look for in masks? *can I combine different brands or must I use the same series? * do I need eye cream when I don’t have a lot of wrinkles?——Basics:Age: 31Location: Sweden (but willing to buy abroad if necessary)Budget: less than $200 for entire routinePictures my face in two different light, of my forehead and one of the lovely spectacle I become when I run](https://imgur.com/a/9gopj12)Problems:No “real” routine atm, just “emergency one”Very dry, sensitive skin in winter (but still prone to oiliness and sweat in the t-zone)Milia? or something similar on forehead Redness/uneven skintone/boring looking skin (picture 2 is more accurate)Skin status:my skin overall is pretty good, no big complaints.combination with very oily in summer and paper thin and dry in winterSensitive skin, both to fragrance, heat and coldIn very cold weather, I get a rash on my cheeks or even cold urticariaI sweat VERY much (I have a clinical diagnosis of hyperhidrosis (it’s fun…))Gets red REALLY easily, see pictureNot acne-prone but have recently developed somethings on my forehead that might be milia but I’m not sureCurrent routine:Morning: - Wash quickly with cethaphil cleanser - Avène AntiRedness Emulsion SPF 30 - (Primer and makeup, Setting spray, occasionally spray antiperspirant)Evening: - Cleanser: Babor Hy-öl (this is absolutely fantastic and has helped me through the winter many times!) - Granier miceallar water - Serum: Ordinary Buffet - Any random moisturizer I have in the cupboardBackstoryWithout making this too pitiful: I’ve been on medical leave for burnout for a while and my skin has not been my top priority, despite it being something I used to spend quite a bit of money and time on.A lot of my old stuff is running out or has expired and I need to replace it but the research jungle is overwhelming me right now. It sound stupid but I get all tangled up and can’t make any decisions.I used to use a lot of the Ordinary and I liked it, but (and this is gonna sound stupid too), right now trying to figure out a routine for which products of theirs to use and when is precisely the sort of thing my brain rears at.)My current routine really is my “last resort routine”.I went to a good skincare store and they gave me routine that would’ve cost $380 with products from Medik8 and yeeaaah, that’s not in the budget. If you made it this far, congratulations! and my humblest thanks.

Better to buy online or local?I used SPF 60 face cream by neutrogena but I hate the white overcast it leaves, makes me look like a ghost. It also makes me sweat a lot?I exfoliate 2-3 times a week before I sleepIs putting sunscreen all over my body really that necessary?I use Cetaphil face cleanser and moisturizer every dayI hear something about using retinol and vitamin C? What is that all about?Does the brand really matter that much?Any foods you specifically avoid that cause bad or oily skin? [Skin concerns] Does pulling/rubbing skin actually cause premature wrinkles?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I can’t find a straight answer online. It’s so difficult not to tug when taking off makeup. I sleep on my face which I know is bad for acne and apparently wrinkles, as well? The other day I spent about an hour tugging my eyes aggressively due to allergies…I also have tics so I blink “hard” and have for a long time. does this actually cause wrinkles? I already use eye cream and spf of course.

[PSA] There’s a difference between a dermatologist and an NP or PA who works in dermatology

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I recently saw a post where someone referred to an NP as a dermatologist, and I thought this would be a great opportunity to educate my fellow skin enthusiasts on the difference. I’m a physician myself specializing in internal/general medicine.Dermatology is the most competitive specialty to get into. First one must complete: - 4 years of college where you take a bunch of science classes including biology, chemistry, physics, statistics, and even calculus. You have to also do lots of volunteering, research, and have other cool things that sets you apart so you can get accepted to medical school. - 4 years of medical school where 2 years are spent studying the human body, and the other 2 are spent working 50-60 weeks where you learn directly from doctors. You also have to use the little free time you have to do research, volunteer, start/lead student organizations, and some students even work to offset the 100s of thousands of dollars in debt we accrue to pay for medical school. - 4 years of residency training where you work 60-100 (I’m not over exaggerating) per week while getting paid minimum wage. Again, dermatology is very competitive so only the brightest even have a chance of landing a residency position. - 2-4 years of additional fellowship training if one desires. Now let’s compare this to a PA or NP: - 4 years of college - 2 years of extra schooling that is general and pretty surface level compared to the medical school curriculum. Most NP schools can be done completely online. While I appreciate the care provided by NPs and PAs, it is important that you as the consumer knows who you’re seeing and the qualifications of the person you’re entrusting your skin to. If you’re paying, you deserve to know who/what you’re paying for.So next time you see a “dermatologist”, please ask if they’re truly a dermatologist with an MD or DO degree, or an NP or PA who works in dermatology but by definition is not a dermatologist.I wish you all clear, glowing skin ✨

so many of the posts on here are borderline obsessive. i truly encourage you to seek professional mental help. ageing is normal. normal skin is normal. this sub has been bad for my mental health, encouraging me to be ashamed of my 20 year old skin. please, remember that you are supposed to age from living a happy long life and get smile lines from smiling and get freckles from (safe) sun exposure.edit: i’m not trying to ‘cancel’ this sub. i just want to encourage positivity within the skincare community, rather than this weird obsession with anti-ageing and “perfect” skin. i don’t think this sub is a positive place for me anymore.

My skin is making me so depressed [Personal]

Beauty Tips For Body Care
My acne is returning with a vengeance despite me not doing anything differently in my skincare routine. This happens every single time I finally manage to clear my skin up. I'm so annoyed and just honestly depressed over it. I have depression and anxiety anyway and my skin just makes it so much worse.I try to stay positive but some days it really gets me down and I just cry because I feel so ugly. I hate looking in the mirror right now. I hate leaving my house and having people see my skin. I hate feeling like I can't show up without a full face of makeup because I feel ugly without it. I hate how sore my skin is and that doing my skincare is uncomfortable because of it.I don't want skincare advice, there's honestly nothing you could tell me that I don't already know after years of trying.I just want to vent to people who will genuinely understand how awful this feels, and not just tell me "oh it's not even that bad, I didn't even notice!" Because they think that's what I want to hear, even though my cheeks are covered in big, painful spots. I get that they're trying to be reassuring but that just honestly makes me feel like they're minimising my struggle. I'm really just so tired of my skin.If anybody else is experiencing this too, I'm sorry. It really, really sucks. But we'll get through this.

[Acne] Derm told me not to moisturise whilst on isotretonin

Beauty Tips For Body Care
So I've had large cystic acne (and everything else) since I was 14, and only 14 years later have I managed to get a dermatologist appointment (I'm UK based). They've prescribed me isotretonin, and yesterday after a brief meeting with the dermatologist I've finally got the prescription and took my first dose this morning. During the appointment he reiterated all the side effects, with the focus on how dry I'll get. However, while in the appointment he told me its best to only wash my face with water twice a day, which prompted me to ask about using moisturiser. He said it was best not to use any moisturisers, unless it's under my mask (for covid restrictions) and it's rubbing at the dry skin. I was also prescribed a lot of basically vaseline for my lips. And I was wondering if anyone who's been on isotretonin (Roaccutane, Accutane etc) if they had the same advice or didn't moisturise/cleanse their face?I'm planning on following my dermatologists instructions but I'm worried I'll be super duper dry/it'll exacerbate my acne. I'd also just love any advice or to know your experience with isotretonin!Just to add, my routine before isotretonin:Morning: wash face with water, Neutrogena Hydro Boost gel with damp skin, Paula's Choice Age-Resist SPF 30Evening: cleanse with Paulas Choice Age-Resist gentle cleanser/Lush Angels with Bare Faces x2 a week for exfoliation, buffer with Neutrogena Hydro Boost on damp skin, Differen gel (previously prescribed), another layer of Neutrogena Hydro BoostI was also on prescription antibiotics to help with the cystic acne while I waited for a derm appointment

[anti-aging] How concerned about filler migration are you in the future?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I (26F) have prominent nasal folds and hallow under eyes, and I know filler is the only true fix, but I’m scared of migration. My current plan is to hold off until I absolutely need it (probably mid 30’s) and use Botox and Retin A in the meantime.I look at these young girls my age getting filler and I notice they look very mature and a bit off? If you’ve seen unedited photos of Kylie Jenner, she has the pillow face look. My theory is that older celebs like Angelina Jolie and JLo, don’t have pillow face because they didn’t start using fillers until an older age. When they did start using it, they only added enough to make up for volume loss.Part of me thinks migration would only be a major issue if you’re trying to alter your face shape rather than preserve what you naturally had. Any thoughts?

[Routine Help] Acne scars and Acne prone skin

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I wanted some feedback on if my skincare routine and if I should change/alter/add/remove something. I have acne scars from when I had really bad acne when I was a teenager. The dermatologist back then prescribed me this Vit. A treatment with birth control a few years ago and acne is no longer the problem, but picking on them left a lot of scars and I generally have scar prone skin. I have pimples here and there due to periods and hormones. I have mixed skin- oily cheeks and T-Zone and dry lips and chin area.AM:Double Cleanse with DHC Cleansing Oil and Clinique Anti-Blemish SolutionThe Ordinary Niacinamide+ZincCerave SA MoisturizerLa Rocheposay SPF 50+ SunscreenPM:Clinique Anti-Blemish SolutionThe Ordinary Glycolic Acid Toning Solution (every other day)The Ordinary Niacinamide+ZincPaula's Choice Retinol 0.3% and Bakuchiol (alternating with Glycolic Acid Toning Solution)Revolution Boost Night MoisturizerEvery Sunday: The Ordinary AHA+BHA Peeling Solution and/or a face sheet mask (for like a pampering spa thing lol). [Skin Concerns] Vitamin C not working for PIE/PIH?!

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Basically, I 18F have had severe acne since I was 11 and never bothered treating it with anything.. A couple of years ago, it began to clear up on its own, but I'm left with moderate icepick scars and a lot of PIE and some PIH. I've had a subcision treatment, and since then I started doing a proper skincare routine. I'm using niacinamide, hyaluronic, BHA and recently starting incorporating retinol. I've tried my hand at vitamin c serums but I see no difference whatsoever. My skin all over my body scars VERY easily for some reason, (poor diet for many years and several deficiencies), but I'd really like to start clearing the dark spots on my face. I've been using TO's Ascorbic acid and alpha arbutin. Any recommendations?

[Review] La Roche Posay skincares

Beauty Tips For Body Care
https://preview.redd.it/ws2aidepjcq71.jpg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bafc7c3689ae46001fe36c75ae749e392f2f273eMy skin has been affected by long term use of Tretinoin 0.1. For as long as I could remember after starting Tret, it has been very red, sensitive and constantly peeling no matter the season and how much moisturizing skincare products I pile on. On top of that, my acne situation didn't entirely clear up, but tretinoin did help diminish a large amount of it. With the sensitivity, I couldn't use products with a long ingredient list, or sunscreens (chemical or physical), they all burned. Talked to dermatologist about it, they recommended lowering the strength and simplifying routine, but none of it seemed to help. Few months ago, I started looking into impaired skin barrier functions as a result of longterm high strength tretinoin use. I began slowly changing out and incorporating La Roche Posay skincare into my routine. I can finally say that my skin barrier appears to have improved a lot and now is no longer as sensitive as before. I attribute the healing of skin barrier to these products. Hopefully it can help others.Eau Thermal - their own branded thermal spring water. I use this as first step. Sometimes I use it after toning with BR Lotion P50. I don't know how I feel about it. I've used this one, Avene and Evian. I feel like most of the aerosol spring waters do similar things. It definitely helps with moisture building for rest of the routine. For 5.1 floz, it's quite expensive. I won't repurchase, I'll opt for the bigger Evians at Marshall/TJMAXX.Cicaplast Gel B5 - This is amazing. I love this and the baume B5. I use the gel version in the morning as a base layer moisturizer due to the difference in thickness/feel, and then top it off with Vanicream. The gel and baume both have centella, zinc gluconate and B5. Those 3 ingredients works wonder for my skin. Highly highly recommend this to people who respond well to Baume B5 and want something less occlusive and oily for daytime. It's also surprisingly great for scar healing. Would repurchase 100x.Active Vitamin C 10% - This is great considering the price point and delivery vehicle/packaging. I've used Skinceutical (same parent company btw), Timeless, Maelove and Drunk Elephant. I would go back to this because the thin lotion formulation works well with the rest of the LRP products. Also the vitamin C level is only 10%, so it's less irritating than some other vitamin C products. The packaging is also interesting, it's a squeeze tube with a tiny spout that appears to be air tight, because you can literally see the product spill outside of the tube change color as it oxidizes over time. It has done a good job fading PIH, so I would repurchase.LIPKAR AP+M Baume - This is a newer EU version of the american LIPKAR AP+ formulation. As far as I can tell, the main difference is that it doesn't contain mineral oil. The texture is also very different than the American version, as it dries down very matte and dry touch feel, rather than oily and shiny. At the same time, it's just as occlusive and able to stifle transepidermal water loss as the AP+ version. With regards to the Microbiome Science claim, I think it's related to the pre-biotic or pro-biotic properties of the thermal water used in all their formulation. So in theory, all of their products are that functionality. I prefer the AP+M just because it's more elegant and dry feel after application, can be used day and night on face or body. I like it, would repurchase.Cicaplast Baume B5 - HOLY GRAIL status. WTF is in this baume, can they make a bath version of this so I can soak up all its healing properties?? It is literally life changing. Hands down, I think this product changed my skincare game. My skin barrier has changed for the better after incorporating this and I noticed it within a week. I use this as a last step in my routine to seal everything in, and I apply a very generous amount, to the point that I look slightly pale (because it has zinc/titanium dioxide). Your skin will look shiny and pale, and it'll takes some time (about 30 min) to absorb and die down, but the result is SO worth it. There is definitely a trick to applying this baume. I've read some people feel it's too thick and greasy, white/pasty and clings onto dry spot. YES to all of those observations. What I found that works for me is to moisturize with something light beforehand, like Vanicream or LRP toleraine ultra. The Baume B5 will sit nicely on top, and won't pill. Some people slug with Vaseline and Aquaphor, I slug with Cicaplast Baume B5. I restocked 10 bottles of this just last week because there was a sale at CVS. I can rave about this for years, but reddit won't let me. I'm committed for life now.Cicaplast Lips - I got this from an european site (caretobeauty), just because I was such a big fan of Cicaplast line in general. I have to say I won't be repurchasing. It's good, but nothing chapstick can't compete with.Toleraine Ultra day/night - Love the packaging and simple ingredient list. Truly these 2 products are for sensitive skin types. Prior to purchasing, I've heard that people prefer the day version because it feels more nourishing and moisturizing than the night/blue one. People are correct, I also prefer the day/white one for the same exact reason. The night version is more like a lotion texture while the day version is like thicker and creamier. The day version also has a nice matte dry down feel, while the night version dries with dewiness/wet feel. Either way, I use these as my 2nd to last, or final moisturizer (depending on the day). Definitely layer Baume B5 on top of these if you want a nice even spread. I would repurchase the day one, but probably not the night one and just use the day one for both morning and night. Up to your own skin type and condition, but I don't mind either. Overall, the toleraine line is super gentle for sensitive skin.Toleraine Hydrating Gentle Cleanser (not shown in picture) - I use this as a cleanser. It's my HG cleanser. Super gentle, non irritating. The niacinamide in the formulation does pose a very quick temporary initial sting upon application, but fades very quickly esp considering how quick I wash off. But my skin doesn't feel stripped after washing, it actually feels normal. It's non foaming and last a long time (bottle is huge), so will definitely keep repurchasing. In general, I trust La Roche Posay products, I think they have a fantastic range of products that's for everyone. For sensitive skin, I find the Toleraine & Cicaplast range to be super helpful in my journey to recover the skin barrier function. As always, skincare is very personal and YMMV.

[misc] high frequency wands, thoughts?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I'm looking into the wand from eternal clear. I was going to call and get more info but the number is American and I don't have long distance as a Canadian so I inquired via email. My main concern is the warranty on the product. I don't want to pay $120 for a wand that might break down in 3 months and then km shit outta luck. Im also wary because they have around 6000 followers but it's been almost a year since they've posted anything on Instagram. They are responding to comments but even then, their posts are just shopped photos of what looks like stock photos.I read some general comments on the internet about these wands, regardless of brand. It seems like they all work the same (technology wise) and it's just branding with different selling brackets and marketing/packaging. I would get the dual neon and argon wand. I have combo/oily skin. Filaments on my nose. Random break outs but nothing cystic or severe.

Getting microneedling for the first time - nervous? [Skin Concerns]

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi all! After battling with acne for about 6 years I am finally blessed with clear skin (thanks, Accutane). I am very satisfied with the current state of my skin... except for my forehead. I had a really bad breakout about four years ago that left some pretty bad boxcar scars. I have been using retin-A for a long time and the scars look a little better, however I decided to bite the bullet and schedule a microneedling appointment for the first time.I am super nervous! I asked if they offer half-face microneedling, i.e. just for my forehead, however they only offer full face. I really want to see good results, however I am now worried about them working on the rest of my face. I know microneedling is supposed to be really safe and effective, especially when you go to a professional, however what are the chances that they ruin my skin? Are there any side effects I should be concerned about? Is there a chance that it could make my scars worse or affect my skin's collagen/aging?If anyone has had microneedling please share your experiences! Especially if you had it done for acne scars. I am worried and want to know what to expect... I really want to get rid of these scars but I am having anxiety that I am flying too close to the sun lmao. I think I am getting myself worked up. I have pictures of my scarring and can also share them if needed.

[miscellaneous] how are you supposed to apply sunscreen every two hours?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
A girl I know who is an esthetician always advocates re applying sunscreen every 2 hours. Even if you’re inside all day? Rain? Shine? Winter? Summer? Doesn’t matter. But I mean this isn’t realistic for most people… especially when you wear make up. I don’t wear a lot of make up to work; tinted moisturizer and fill In my brows, but I can’t imagine applying sunscreen every 2 HOURS. That seems excessive.

[Skin Concerns] I’ve been lathering on SA toner to handle my BO. It’s worked, but am I missing something?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Basically, I have that issue where no matter how much I lather, rinse, scrub, rinse, etc.—even shave my pits and fast and all—I sill get BO.I started using a salicylic acid toner and just opted to lather it on my body and then wipe off with a clean towel after I finish showering. I’ll need to really clean my body because I know if I don’t, then the toner just kills the bacteria for like 10 min before they prob proliferate among my sweat glands again.I’ve just been wondering thoughWhy the hell can I put SA toner on my body every day and still get this smell every so often?Am I just fundamentally cleaning my body incorrectly or something? It is so annoying. I mean I have a solution, but damn. I’m wondering about going to some korean spa type thing—I heard they practically skin u alive. Maybe I just have a reservoir of germs that I havent gotten to.

[skin concerns] What is better to use to fight acne: Acid or benzoyl peroxide?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi everyone! I have a very sensitive acne-prone skin. A year ago I had a huge outbreak, so I visited a dermatologist who prescribed me some medicine plus suggested I should create my own skincare routine. Since then I’ve been using a few products that actually help with acne and post-acne spots. Every day now I use a cleanser, moisturiser, sunscreen, azelaic acid in the morning and went back to using differin (adapalene) in the evenings around a month ago after not using it for months. I haven’t had an outbreak for more than a year, but now due to work, studies and lots of unhealthy meals my skin is starting to break out again. I don’t remember what I was using to get rid of my acne in the first place a year ago, but now I want to continue using differin, but also add something stronger I guess. Do you think I should continue using azelaic acid or maybe buy benzoyl peroxide? I heard it works great combined with differin (adapalene).

[personal] for those of you who use skincare as self care, where’s the line between self care and obsessing?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I am prone to body related OCD and just realized my newfound interest in skincare may be falling more in the obsessive category. I objectively have almost perfect skin-my mom never did anything to her skin but wash with water and her skin is perfect and mine is somewhat similar. However whenever I get a blemish or recently when I’ve found some elevens between my eyes I get obsessed and spend hours thinking about products and researching them. The wrinkles thing has especially made me go crazy. I’ve always thought it was like a hobby for me but I’m not sure.Edit: I’m seeing a therapist but always thought of this as coping not as an issue

New Purito Daily Go-To Sunscreen [REVIEW]

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I ordered the new Purito sunscreen product that they released after the whole Centella Unscented fiasco. Here’s my feedback!I am a 30F with dry, sensitive, fair skin.Let me start by saying that the Centella unscented was my holy grail of sunscreens. I wore it every day, so I was heartbroken to learn that the SPF wasn’t what was listed. I was very excited when I heard they were launching a new, 3rd party tested product!(Ordered from YesStyle on 9/8, received it 9/27)It just arrived, so today is use #1.The packaging is biodegradable as it’s made from sugarcane bagasse. Printed with soy ink. I like that, better for the earth.Hypoallergenic and coral reef sage.SPF 50+ / PA ++++Texture: Very very similar to the Centella Unscented, maybe slightly more fluid. But still goes on like a gentle cream. Spreads very well.Color: Nearly the same color as Centella unscented. I put both on my hand, and noticed no difference in color.Scent: Truly unscented just like before - great if you’re sensitive skinned like me.Wear: Claims to be “weightless and scentless” and I would agree. Does not feel heavy or cakey on my face. Absorbs well, and feels hydrating. I use a gel moisturizer from Biossance, and this went over that without issue or pilling (unlike my Unseen Sunscreen from Supergoop!)Look: Skin is glowy, but not greasy. No white cast! I am fair skinned, so I’m not sure how it would do on darker complexions. But even with initial application there was no white cast.Overall, I think they did a really good job at giving us a revamped Centella unscented. This truly could be a daily go-to sunscreen with how light and gentle it is. As someone with sensitive skin, I usually know within secondsof application if a sunscreen is a no go as I start itching and my skin feels rough to the touch. But this one is amazing. With this I feel hydrated and protected. It’s so light on that makeup could easily go over the top, but I’m really loving the glow it’s giving. Will update once I have had some more wear time. Hope this helps!

[skin concern] Free Pores or Over Washing?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
For over two weeks, I’ve been sleeping in my sunscreen and been more stressed than usual. My skin has been super congested and I’ve been breaking out, so yesterday I washed my face with a vibrating silicone brush with dr. bronner unscented castile soap. Then used my hands to rub naturium niacinamide soap on my face for a minute. Lastly, I used cerave skin renewing 0.5 salicylic acid cleanser on my face for about 2 minutes. I put on a super thick layer of cerave moisturizing cream and vanicream after. This morning my pores lay flat and my skin feels so smooth and like there is no gunk, but my nose and cheeks and chin (where i had most of the congestion) are more oilier than usual. I have oily skin, but I’m wondering if it’s because my skin had no blockage so the oil could freely flow or if it’s because I over washed. My face doesn’t feel tight or dry.

[Routine Help]: lots of small issues

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi all, I am a 26F and feel like I have a lot of smaller issues. There always something I need to cover up with concealer but I would LOVE to go makeup free! I also live in New Zealand so product recs I can buy here plz. I would also love to be told a whole routine coz I get so confused about layering and when to use what. So heres the list,- Genuinely combination skin, can tend towards oily in the summer but dry in the very windy winter- Very dry around nose, always peeling.- occasional pimple around the edge of my nose and on my nose.- black heads, mainly on nose- super weird dryish red rough patch on upper lip- uneven skin texture on T zone and chin- always dark circles under my eyes (of course trying to fix this with sleep, diet etc)And I just have suuuuper pale skin that doesn't heal anything, so a mark from a pimple could take over 6 months to even begin healing.ALSO THE DRYEST LIPS, just constantly peeling and using a combination of 3-4 products.I sometimes but not often get proper big pimples, thats usually only hormonally related. Thanks in advance

[Personal] Sometimes, the hardest thing to do is nothing

Beauty Tips For Body Care
My jawline is breaking out like nobody’s business. As soon as one zit starts healing, another emerges. Right now, I have eight red marks from healed zits, three mostly healed ones, and I can see three potential ones that might go from whiteheads to full-blown.I’m sure that I have caused this from using too many products, and my skin needs to heal. Over the past week, I’ve cut back to only using moisturizing products I’ve used in the past without issues. I’ve used a salicylic face wash and salicylic acid gel directly on a spot a few times because that’s always worked on acne for me, but I’ve cut those out, too, because I think it’s just exacerbating the problem. My skin feels a little raw when I wash it, which reassures me I’m doing the right thing, but it’s so hard! I want to target that area with a clay mask or the Dr. Dennis Gross peel pads so badly. It’s even tempting to apply Differin, although I’m sure that would just destroy my skin barrier.

I started using paulas choice bha around 4 weeks ago, i made the mistake of using it 2x a day for 2weeks. I don’t know if it started to irritate my skin or if I was just purging. I decided to stop using it after that 2 weeks because I didn’t like the way the purging looked 🙃. It’s been 2 weeks since I last used it and My skin kind of looks better now but I still have red spots, closed comedones and still getting some pimples. I don’t know why I used it in the first place because my skin was nice. I should of done some more research before using it. I plan on not using it and waiting a month to see what my skin looks like. Should I carry on using it, will my skin return to normal??? Thanks 😊

[Routine Help] Cleanser for very sensitive skin?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I’m 23 and have EXTREMELY sensitive, dry skin. I deal with constant redness and most products cause a very tight/burning feeling. I had things under control when I was using the Rohan+Fields soothe line, but they recently changed the formula and now it’s totally unusable...so I’ve been trying to figure out a new routine. I’ve seen lots of recommendations for La Roche Posay, but it badly irritated my face. I’ve recently been using Cerave Hydrating Cleanser and was very happy that it didnt sting, but sadly it’s making me break out (haven’t had a breakout this bad since high school). I’ve also seen recommendations for Aveeno, but I’d rather not use it since their sunscreen was recalled for having Benzene. If anyone has any other recommendations, I’d really appreciate it! Thanks so much in advance.

I Have a Challenge - Moisturizer and sunblock suggestions? w/ autoimmune issues [Sun Care]

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I have a bit of a difficult challenge for anyone who’s a skincare god. Please help! I’m looking for a moisturizer and sunblock.Currently I have oily skin, acne prone but no current breakouts. However I also have flakiness in my T zone, forehead and eyebrows.BUT HERES THE PROBLEM.I’ve been having mystery autoimmune skin/scalp issues for the past two years, and I currently have inflammation in my eyebrows (and scalp for that matter). My eyebrow and scalp hair has been falling off slowly over the past year, and I may have a bit of topical steroid withdrawals in my scalp and eyebrows as well. I can’t risk anything that might set off my skin. This is not AA but something painful and inflammatory.I’m also starting an immunosuppressive medication that causes sun sensitivity, so a good sunblock that’s doesn’t break me out is a must.On top of that I have celiac disease, and I need to avoid anything with hydrolyzed wheat protein or oats, which as in a lot of lotions and creams. Before anyone asks, I have seen a dermatologist and an autoimmune specialist, and will be starting a medication to try and help, however I need a moisturizer and sunblock to introduce that’s safe for my skin and won’t break me out.I know it’s a lot, I’m sick and exhausted and my self esteem after losing my eyebrows and hair as a young women has been pretty crushing, especially because it’s likely scarring and permanent, the least I can do for myself is get some sort of skincare happening. Really would appreciate any help!

Literally nothing has made it any better. This time I thought fuck it, i'm just gonna completely void fake tanning those specific areas by applying vaseline as a barrier. Needless to say, it came out worse than ever.I have watched ALL the youtube tutorials, i have read ALL the google results. Will someone please help me? [acne] I've always been a skincare addict but since starting depo my skin sucks and I feel like I have to start from scratch

Beauty Tips For Body Care
There's just something about acne that really makes you doubt yourself and your identity. I've really invested in my skin as much as I could since early high school, and it's always paid off. My friends used to compliment my skin and want to test out my products. Now that I've started depo and my skin is a disaster, I feel really detached from all these bottles and products I used to love. Apparently being informed and diligent about my skin is completely undermined when I decide to be informed and diligent about my birth control. It's just tough to rebuild a routine that works for this new skin I have, and I really feel like I'm taking care of someone else's face.So here's my routine: Doxycycline 100mg/day I've been on this for about 2 weeksAM: CeraVe hydrating cleanser Laneige water bank moisture cream (my Ulta birthday gift😋) La Roche posay clear skin sunscreen 50 spfPM: micellar water, CeraVe cleanser Tret .05% (every other day, sometimes every day since I've used retinoids before and rarely have sensitivity) Ponds dry skin creamSometimes I'll take a couple days off tret and use the ordinary AHA/BHA peel, I always find it helps with dry patches, reduces texture, and fades pigmentation. I also follow this up with a vitamin c serum. I'm wondering if this is actually helping or if I should just use tret without breaks? If I get a really bad pimple I'll put hydrocortisone cream on it. I've heard mixed ideas about this and am not sure if I should continue doing it. I've never had good luck with those hydrocolloid patches and think they're overhyped. Those are my thoughts on skincare rn. I think anyone else going through it with acne knows how it feels to be here.
