Beauty Tips For Body Care
So these are common ingredients in a lot of gentle face cleansers. They are hard to avoid. They are allowed to be included in Alcohol free products because they are a fatty alcohol and react differently with the skin than something like isopropyl alcohol. The wiki link way below has a list of all the fatty alcohols.Fatty alcohols are a waxy soft substance used as a thickener in products and to cleanse the skin as it is oil emulsified. A lot of people have no problem with it as fatty alcohols typically are gentle to the skin, but after looking further into studies about the comedogenicity of cetyl alcohol and all its friends, they are in fact at least mildly pore clogging despite their gentle label.PSA over, my personal journey below, skip if you don’t care :) Listing interesting sources below!I can’t use the holy grail Cetaphil or Cereve cleansers without breaking out and I know a lot of us on here are like that. I initially thought it was dimethicone, which may very well be the case as I still avoid it in cleansers, but I STILL had acne after using products which I deemed safe for my skin. Dimethicone is in a lot of facial products and lotions as well.I had the typical teenage acne that never seemed to clear up. After I quit birth control three years ago my acne got worse. I broke out in my cheeks and chin instead of my usual forehead and nose from high school. I would have 5-9 super deep painful cysts at any given time and several run of the mill pimples, blackheads, clogged pores etc.The cysts give me red marks and PIH when they healed. I started paying better attention to skincare like using moisturizer and sunscreen and using masks/stridex/spot treatments. Avoided sulfates and bought only alcohol free cleansers, non pore clogging and hypoallergenic. The best my skin had looked in several years was when I decided to try Basis bar soap and nothing else on my face to cleanse, and some rotating moisturizers (whatever was gentle and on sale lol). My skin HATES cetaphil and most cereve products. I also lurked here and started looking for AHA/BHA stuff to use but I only used what I found on the clearance rack occasionally. My cysts became fewer and fewer, and my acne cleared up a lot. But not all the way, and I always get awful cyst or two around my period. I thought this was just how I am and I just have to ride it out because hormones.I purchased Simple moisturizer and Simple cream cleanser and used these as well as my basis bar soap. The bar I would outside of the shower (mornings or whenever) and the cream cleanser in the shower. Plus whatever I felt like using like sunscreen or stridex. I did this for just under a year thinking it was as good as it will get.I found a bunch of AHA and BHA products on sale that looked good to try( I’ll list them below) and began religiously using them. I also found that I could use CereVe healing ointment (like the vaseline type one) on my face to deal with an eczema breakout around my mouth and nose without a breakout which I found odd since it does contain dimethicone, but it left my skin moisturized better and no major pimples.I established a really good habit of using my products and noticed some improvements. My skin would clear blemishes quickly but new ones would ALWAYS surface somewhere. Not a cure. So I decided to try to figure out why I still broke out.I read all my ingredients and realized I was still using alcohols on my face. Went shopping with intent to find one cleanser that met all my needs- no alcohols whatsoever, no sulfates, no dimethicone, non comedogenic, hypoallergenic. Oh and no plastic micro bead bullshit but thats a given.Found one-after maybe three weeks (am poor need discount sales).Alba Hawaiian botanica volcanic clay anti pollution facial cleanser. It’s made with fruit stuff and volcanic clay. Is it really anti pollution? Who knows but it checked all the boxes and it was 6$ at TJ Max so I bought it. Began using it instead of my basis bar and simple cleanser and within a week my face was clear.Dude, my fucking face is clear Like not one pimp Not a single oneCLEAR GLOWY SKINI am so happy I actually wore pretty makeup twice this month. And I didn’t have pimples after. I’m so happy :DOkay I will post my routine now.ROUTINE my preference is NO fatty alcohols or regular alcohols, no sulfates, non comedogenic. I still avoid dimethicone in anything aside from the Cereve but I think my problems were actually from the fatty alcohols.MORNING -Alba Botanica Hawaiian Detox and Anti Pollution Volcanic Clay Cleanser (it’s a cleanser even though it sounds like a masque!)-Skincare Cosmetics Retinol Vitamin C Advanced Brightening serum-wash hands with soap and use either tap water or a bottle of rose water I was recently gifted to dampen face all over a tad (I use my hands so I make sure I don’t have conditioner or something on them)-With a slightly damp face I put Cereve healing ointment on my face al over and use the excess to rub into my hands as well-dusting of translucent powder for the shineEVENING -Alba Botanica Hawaiian Detox and Anti Pollution Volcanic Clay CleanserFor the next bit I just rotate through products honestly depending on what I haven’t used in a while/feel like using/or skip all together if I used a clay mask recently**-I rotate through Nip FAB glycolic acid daily cleanings pads/extreme nighttime glycolic acid pads/glycolic acid serum depending on which one I feel like using that night with no other reasonings- my Skin reacts super well to glycolic acid but I can’t tell the difference between the products honestly. Bought them all super cheap at a clearance bin at CVS.-I use Stridex in the red box sometimes but always alongside and AHA like a NIP FAB product above or Elizabeth Arden Alpha Hydroxy Skin Illuminating Cleansing pads (I love these they are super strong and can be found at discount stores for much much cheaper)-Another round of the Retinol Vitamin C serum instead of anything else-wash hands, dampen face with tap water or rose water. (I don’t think the rose water does anything tap water doesn’t, just dampens the face so the cereve can seal the moisture in)-slightly bigger amount of the Cereve Healing Ointment Skin Protectant over my face and lips. And that’s it! My skin hasn’t been better! My forehead is pimple free and smooth! No cysts, no pimples!! I have some clogged pores and minor texture issues but compared to where they were a month ago I am in awe of how much I’ve improved!!! I’m so excited!!! I even started my period today.... and guess what. I had one single tiny Whitehead that popped and washed away this morning. NO PERIOD CHEEK CYSTS. :DGoing to list some sources here.-The Wikipedia page with a bit of info on the fatty alcohols and their nameshttps://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cetostearyl_alcohol-Some info from the FDA on “alcohol free” cosmetic labelinghttps://www.fda.gov/cosmetics/labeling/claims/ucm2005201.htm There are some interesting links on that page as well!-Here is an article about regular alcohol vs fatty alcohols, and a bunch of beautiful sources at the bottomhttps://www.annmariegianni.com/alcohols-in-skin-care/A fun thing I found. I know a lot of people really love Paula’s choice, Simple, and similar skin care but if you search their website about the ingredients “cetyl alcohol” and similar they are adamant it is impossible for them to cause breakouts. That’s isn’t exactly true. Looking for scholarly articles you’ll find a lot about the “comedogenicity” of cosmetics. Warning, lots of animal testing. But it appears that there are lots of conclusions that these fatty alcohol ingredients are at least mildly comedogenic after all despite major skin care brands refuting that claim. There is also a problem with misrepresentation on packaging, as there isn’t a good regulation of labeling products. Example- controversy in what “natural”, “hypoallergenic”, “gentle”, “non comedogenic”, etc.———————————————- TL:DRBasically, cosmetic labeling doesn’t mean anything because it isn’t regulated. Cetyl alcohol, cetearyl alcohol, stearyl alcohol, etc are all fatty alcohols and at least mildly comedogenic. So if you have tried all the holy grail products and still can’t figure it out, ditch the fatty alcohols! They may be the cause of your acne despite how “gentle” they are! I have never had clearer skin!!!I hope this was informative and sorry if formatting etc was weird let me know if I need to add anything!!!

[MISC] In honor of Skin Care Awareness Month, I'm doing a No Dairy, No Sugar, November
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Just wanted to put this out there to see if anyone would be interested in joining me. Dairy and sugar are often found to be culprits in our skin issue adventures (though of course I know that's not always the case. I struggle with hormonal cystic acne myself so I get it) so I thought I would experiment to see how giving up dairy and sugar for a month affect not only the appearance of my skin, but also my overall health.Perhaps we can check in weekly to see how things are going, report changes, complain about the sugar withdrawal, etc.Let me know all of your thoughts, comments, and criticisms!!And for anyone that is interested, my skin care routine is as follows:AM:cleanse: CeraVe foaming cleansermoisturize/sunscreen: CeraVe AM moisturizer SPF 30apply makeupPM:Remove makeup: Clinique take the day off balm or Ponds cold cream and a wet microfiber cloth.Cleanse: CeraVe foaming cleanserApply Adapalene Gel and wait about 10 minutesMoisturize: CeraVe moisturizer, with a layer of vaseline on topFor acne spot treatment: either a hydrocolloid bandage over an already popping pimple, or a dap of sulfur mask.I also take Spironolactone 100mg for hormonal acne.I also use a toothpaste without SLS (Pronamel Sensodyne) because I found SLS to also be a culprit in some of my breakouts.

[Skin Concern] Enlarged pores spreading in one area!?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I have one pretty large pore on my cheek bone area. I’ve had it for years, but it seems in the past 2-3 years pores in the surrounding area are getting enlarged. Feels like it’s spreading. I do pick my skin a lot (which I know is bad), but I avoid that area and never touch it.What could be causing just this one area to get enlarged pores?I try to avoid sleeping on that side of my face as well. As far as routine I cleanse with Noxzema original deep cleanser, and moisurize. I’ve always had bad skin, lately it’s better. I have naturally larger pores, but the enlarged ones are even bigger. As far as skin type, I think I’m combo or oily. What can I do to stop it from getting worse?

[Personal] How can I embrace my skin and ignore unrealistic standards?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi SCA,I’m struggling with having realistic expectations about my skin. I know I actually have good skin but I feel pressure to live up to an artificially perfect ideal.I am fair skinned and I get freckles easily. I used to spend a lot of time outdoors and didn’t wear sunscreen unless I had a risk of burning (like on long hikes in the sunshine). I felt beautiful and comfortable in my own skin even in the summer with no makeup. I miss feeling the sun on my skin and feeling joy. Now I don’t even enjoy the sun coming through the windows on a beautiful day because the sun is a deadly laser that’s going to make me ugly. (What an awful way to think & live).Somehow at 25 I have become more self conscious. I feel like this is the age when you should be growling out of that and accepting yourself. But I see Instagram models with milky white, unblemished skin over every inch of their body and I’m suddenly aware of the sun damage on my chest and forearms. Snapchat filters that blur my skin remind me of how much better I would look if only I had poreless skin and crazy long lashes. How do I change my way of thinking and learn to love the skin I’m in?

[PSA] November is National Skin Care Awareness Month!
Beauty Tips For Body Care
November 1st is the official first day of Nation Healthy Skin Month.Because keeping your skin healthy is vital but sometimes overlooked, I am posting an advice summary in awareness of Healthy Skin Month to help keep your skin vibrant, supple, and looking young through your years. Below I listed some great reminders and tipsThe number one and most critical advice i can give is to protect yourself from the sun. The sun might as well be your frenemy. I mean, you need her to keep you warm, keep your spirits up, and to get your essential vitamin D. But she has a way of either making you look gorgeous and sun kissed for the perfect selfie, or you spend too much time with her, wish you didn’t, and your skin only goes downhill from there, ruining your life. Before you know it, you try to avoid her like a bad ex, asking yourself, “why did i even have to be around her so much in the first place, was it worth it?” No...no it wasn’t worth it.As most of you on this subreddit know, the sun damages skin with UV rays, causing many different skin problems like wrinkles, sun spots, leathery textured looks, and cancers. Here are some excellent methods to avoid most sun exposureWear protective clothing such as a long sleeve shirt, hat and pants when you can. When it’s too hot for protective clothing, wear sunscreen on your skin and use sunscreen daily on your face if you go outside. A full spectrum SPF of 15 or higher can suffice, but I suggest a minimum of a broad spectrum SPF 30 or a minimum PA +++ and apply 15- 20 minutes before going outside and then reapply every two hours.Use plenty of water containing products on your body. Products containing hyaluronic acid holds 1,000 times its own weight in water, attracting water to the skin and keeping it there. Occlusives will help trap water on your skin from whatever moisturizing product you use. Drink plenty of clean water. Preferably filtered. I know there is some controversy about how much water is too much water to consume a day, but drinking lots of water throughout the day will hydrate your body and skin.Do not start smoking. If you’re thinking about smoking but haven’t done so yet, the best advice I can give is to not do it. Aside from so many gnarly health issues smoking cigarettes can cause, it will certainly increase the aging of your skin. For a lot of people, the first thing that comes to mind is lung cancer. But smoking cigarettes most certainly has detrimental effects on your oxygen levels, blood circulation, and skin. Smoking decreases blood flow which can deplete the skin of oxygen and vital nutrients. Decreased blood flow can damage the elastic fibers and collagen in the skin. Repeated pursing of lips and squinting your eyes to keep smoke out can also cause wrinkles. And being exposed to extreme heat on your face for a long period of time can cause damage to the skin. If you currently smoke but care about your skin even more than a cigarette, I suggest quitting. Also, something that may be most important to us subscribers is that wound infection and delayed wound healing are common in smokersWhat if you stop smoking?According to the Association for the Advancement of Wound Care, did you know that if you stop smoking, your body will start to recover from the harmful effects within about 20 minutes? Think about the effects if you stop smoking for just 24 hours!?! Each positive benefit will help your body heal.“20 minutes without smokingo Heart rate and blood pressure dropso Temperature of your hands and feet increaseo Benefit: improved blood flow to bring nutrients to wounds on hands and feet8 hours without smokingo Oxygen level in blood becomes normalo Benefit: Cells need oxygen to grow and help to heal your wound. As oxygen levels return to normal, your wound will improve.24 hours without smokingo Nerve endings start to recovero Benefit: you will be better able to sense pressure and temperature on the skin of your foot, preventing injury to the skin in the first place.2 weeks to 3 months without smokingo Blood flow improves and walking becomes easiero Benefit: better blood flow means that more blood, oxygen, drugs, and nutrients will make it to your wound to help it heal. Walking, when it becomes easier, is a great form of exercise to lower blood sugar and body weight. High blood sugar and high body weight make it harder for wounds to heal.”There are so many benefits to quitting lighting up and puffing that it’s definitely worth it to do so.Take care of your skin by cleansing it properly, being gentle with it, hydrating and moisturizing it, on the daily. Use a gentle cleanser, too. I know some people on here splash water on their face in the morning. (I do too sometimes. :) ) Use warm water when washing and cleansing your face. Strong soaps also remove the oil from your skin, use mild soaps. Avoid using perfumes and dyes these can possibly damage your skin by causing an allergic reaction. Be very gentle with your eye area. If you wear eye makeup remove makeup gently making sure not to damage your skin around the eyes. (I have a hard time with that. I sometimes tend to be rough on my eyes)Moisturizing works by providing a seal, keeping water from escaping, or by slowly releasing water into the skin. For people with fungal acne, using the correct cleansers and moisturizers for your skin is essential to heal.If you shave make sure use the safest and healthiest method. Shaving can cause irritation, razor burn, and cuts and bumps. In order to reduce shaving difficulties to increase the health of your skin do the following: Press a warm washcloth on your skin before shaving, do not shave dry skin, put lotion or shaving cream on skin, use a clean razor, and shave in the direction of the hair.Be safe and pay attention to any weird or unusual moles or skin tags. One in five Americans will develop skin cancer in their lifetime according to the American Academy of Dermatology. Cancer damages your skin and your overall health. There are three different types of skin cancer. Basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and melanoma. Most can be prevented by limiting exposure to the sun. If you suspect a problem, I suggest going to a dermatologist to get checked out to make sure everything is okay with your skin. According to Mayo Clinic, skin cancer can develop on anyone, regardless of skin tone, anywhere on the body. And lastly, exercise! Exercising does wonderful things to your skin and your entire body. It gets your blood pumping and oxygen going, giving you guys and girls that healthy after workout glow that we all love. Please spread the love of epidermal health and I hope this PSA gives you some tips on being aware of your skin this month and every other month throughout the year.Happy Skin Care Awareness Month Y’all!Yours truly,GoldenSmoothie85

[Routine help] Fitting Rosehip Oil and vit C into my routine?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hello all!I’m relatively new around here but I’ve been dealing with pretty bad acne and very oily skin since puberty (10+ years now). For some quick background, over this past summer I had one of the worst breakouts of my life (huge, very painful cysts like I’d never gotten before). That really led me to rethink everything I was doing (which, in retrospect, was real bad) and start over. I switched makeup removers, cleansers, and moisturizers and started curology (clindamycin had previously helped my acne but I’m a broke grad student who couldn’t offered it so curology was a great find). Things are certainly better now, but there’s room for improvement so I’ve been doing a lot of research and stalking posts on this page haha.Routine:AM: - CeraVe moisturizing face wash (I have the one for oily skin as well that I was using more in the summer before the weather got cold and dry) - stridex in the red box (this is a new intro, or I guess reintro because I’ve used salicylic acid products before, in an effort to prevent the smaller breakouts I’ve still been getting; right now I use it only every other day) - neutrogena hydro boost water gel - sunprise spf 50 - makeupPM - micellar water to remove makeup - cerave face wash (same as above) - curology (my mix is clindamycin, niacinamide, and zinc pyrithione) - neutrogena hydro boost gel creamThis has been my routine (minus the stridex) for about two months with moderate success. I was using some vit c serum but decided to stop while I introduce the stridex and wait a bit before reincorporating it. All that being said, the point of this post is that I bought the Radha rosehip oil and eventually (after waiting a while to get used to the stridex) would like to incorporate both it and the vit c back in to help with acne scarring and PIE. When I get around to it, where should these two things go in my routine, or are they somehow at odds with certain things already in my routine? Thanks a bunch!

[PSA] beware of acids!
Beauty Tips For Body Care
In honor of Halloween, I thought I’d impart you all with a real horror story, for my skin that is. A little background: my skin has always been troubled and acne prone, with most of my breakouts on my chin with the occasional breakout on my cheeks or forehead. This past summer, I had a few more breakouts than normal so I discovered r/skincareaddiction. I overhauled my routine but wasn’t seeing fast enough results. Then I discovered The Ordinary.I ordered almost every product and started testing them. Slowly, my skin got worse and worse but I thought the solution was to keep adding more acids. At my worst, I was using The Ordinary Mandelic Acid, The Ordinary Niacinamide + Zinc, The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 10%, a Vitamin C serum, The Ordinary Azelaic Acid Suspension 10% and weekly, The Ordinary AHA 30% and the Aztec Clay mask. My skin went from the occasional breakout to my cheeks (which rarely broke out before) being covered in CCs and whiteheads. I thought because my skin wasn’t dry or flaky, using so many acids was fine. It finally took an especially horrible flare up to ask for help on here, which made me realize I was using wayyyy too many acids. I cut out acids cold turkey and my skin immediately calmed down.https://imgur.com/a/smsyRhiBefore is left, after is right. Has definitely improved since the after photo but still not as good as the left.I keep seeing posts on here from people who have started breaking out relatively recently and have a bunch of acids in their routine. If your skin is breaking out and you don’t know why, try stopping all acids, especially if you have more than one or two in your routine.

[Acne] Drug Store Exfoliant/Pads for Closed Comedones.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hey all! I've been struggling w/ a lot of texture on my face lately. Was wondering if anyone had some suggestions for drug store exfoliant pads? I've never used pads too much, but have seen success stories on here! Also open to any other type of exfoliant, but thought I'd give pads a go! Thanks so much. Pics included; One Two

[Routine Help] My face is making me depressed.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I'm in such a bad place right now with my skin. It's like it's hated me forever and wont get any better no matter how many products I try. My skin right now is the worst I'ts looked and I have had pretty bad skin in the past. I'ts incredibly dry and I have sore red patches of dry skin all over my face and it looks so unsightly and is so painful and sore as the skin is red raw.I haven't been out of the house for 5 days because of this and my confidence as completely shattered. I'm 25 year old women who is single and I live on my own and I feel like my skin has taken my social life, my happiness, my confidence and my life all together. Some days I wake up and I wish I wasn't here.Every part of strength I have had and not caring and trying to be positive in the past has just gone out of the window because I just can't take it any longer. I haven't been eating or sleeping properly and I don't even want to go out of the house right now to face anyone.I've been to the doctors before and was given birth control as I did have hormonal acne but now the ance has now gone I'm suffering with awful dry, flaking, cracked skin. I wouldn't mind If I could cover my face with make-up but any products I use on my face sting like crazy and make my face look worse than it already does which is kinda hard to believe as my face looks horrendous right now.I have been constantly moisturising my face every few hours as my skin is just soaking up moisturiser in a matter of an hour. I've been using cetaphil moisturiser, using aloe sheet masks, aloe gel to stop the itchyness and E45 cream but my face hasn't calmed down its like a tomato and so painfulI have had to call in sick at work for the past 3 days because of my skin and I'm now sitting here feeling incredibly depressed and I do need to support from someone. I phoned my mum earlier because I don't live with my mum and I just needed some advise and hopefully would feel a little better after the phone-call but it honestly didn't help. She was just moaning at me telling me it's my own fault and I just had to hang up on her mid way through conversation. I don't need that right now I just want someone to make me smile somehow as I've been feeling so low for so long.I can't even bare to look at myself in the mirror anymore I don't even know who I am everytime I take a look at myself or get a glimpse at myself in the mirror I just want to cry. I do worry about my future too as I don't think anyone would want to be with me looking like this. I have tried to date people in the past but no guys seemed interested in me and usually just friend-zoned me because of the way I looked.I have no friends and no one to talk to about this which is why I am posting on here. I'm sorry for going on I just am praying for a miracle right now with my skin. I know it isn't permanent but I feel like I'm such a long way from having clear skin as I've been suffering for years and I'm so envious of everyone around me which has great skin.I'ts just a really difficult time at the moment so any help and support is truly appreciated.Does anyone have any recommendation on moisturiser for very very dry skin? I'll also add a photo of what my skin looks like now.here's a link to what my face looks like now - https://imgur.com/a/2wdB2nJ

[Misc] Fragrance Free or neutral smelling body lotion / moisturizer?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I checked the sidebar and the moisturizer info seems to be primarily about face products.Does anybody recommend a body lotion that is effective for dry skin, doesn't feel tacky, and smells neutral / doesn't have a noticeable fragrance? Doesn't necessarily have to be 100% fragrance-free.I just finished Clarins Moisture Rich Body Lotion that was on the more neutral smelling and didn't interfere with daytime fragrance. Could re-up this the next time I'm at duty free but open to new suggestions. I also love Malin + Goetz B5 Lotion but I use that at bedtime only for the fragrance clashing reason.

[shelfie][haul] First Shelfie and Routine! French Pharmacy, The Ordinary, Paula's Choice (Oily/Combination/Sensitive/Dehydrated)
Beauty Tips For Body Care
https://imgur.com/a/Q7baiUkThat's all the products I have. Finally found a routine that works for me with The Ordinary, Paula's Choice, La Roche Posay, Cerave, Avene, Bioderma.I am 25F combination mostly oily and congested, hormonal acne around chin/jawline (now slight scarring), sensitive and prone to redness. Working on improving moisture barrier.AM:First Cleanse: Bioderma Sensibio H2O micellar waterSecond Cleanse: Cerave hydrating cleanser (if needed) or just a rinse with water.Tone/Mist: La Roche Posay serozinc refreshing, noticed a difference in oilyness throughout the day with this also very soothingSerum: Paula's Choice Calm Repairing Serum worth it, amazing ingredients, chock full of ceramides and so hydrating... I believe in investing in a good serum I mix it with 3 drops of Paula's Choice C15 super booster I got the C15 booster for free on an order over £60 when they were re branding the new looks packaging. Vitamin C was a revelation to me, my skin is brighter and it has helped clear some scarring plus good antioxidant boost.Moisturise: Avene Tolerance Emulsion light, hydrating, minimal ingredients, contains squalene, really good under spfSPF: Paula's Choice Calm Mineral Moisturizer spf30 mineral spf is so good on my sensitive and acne-prone skin. I rationalize the price as working it out to £1 a day, buying once a monthPM:Micellar Water: Bioderma Sensibio H2OFirst Cleanse: The Body Shop Chamomile Oil or Balm massaged into face and removed with flannelSecond Cleanse: Cerave Foaming cleanser not drying, loveTone/Mist: Paula's Choice Skin Balancing Pore- Reducing toner I use this in pm because it's kinda greasy, contains niacinamide and opened up a new world of hydrating toners to me Spritz with LRP SerozincSerum: Paula's Choice Calm Repairing SerumMoisturiser: La Roche Posay Toleriane Ultra Overnight contains vitamin a and niacinamide, very hydratingOil: The Ordinary Rosehip Seed OilEvery other night: Paula's Choice 2% skin perfecting BHA or the Clear Regular Strength 2% BHA in place of toner. really helped with my texture, oiliness breakouts and blackheads, I started off using the Regular Strength everyday after cleansing. This one is definitely less sheeny looking than the perfecting BHA but I overexfoliated and would never use in the same routine as Vitamin C.Once a week: The Ordinary's AHA/BHA peeling solution or the Pixi Glow tonic. Now and then: The Ordinary niacinamide on especially oily days mixed with moisturiser (never 2 actives in same routine, so not with vitamin C or an exfoliant). The Ordinary borage seed oil as last step in PM if my skin feels dehydrated.La Roche Posay cicaplast baumeb5 fixes everything!I have kept up this routine consistently for 2 months and it has really improved my skin overall. Redness and inflammation/hormonal acne clearing upRecently bought The Ordinary's azelaic acid. Hoping to incorporate this in my routine somewhere to help with redness, sensitivity and left over scarring.Any questions or tips welcome with routine.I must mention that I attribute hormonal acne clearing up to also fixing up my diet and eating at the same times (keeping blood sugar balanced), sleep routine, general hygiene habits (showering once a day, changing pillowcase every night), NOT PICKING OR TOUCHING FACE and taking supplements religiously - (Also pic of supplements after much trial and error, I've found most effective in helping to control and clear my hormonal acne : https://imgur.com/a/LvTzD4w)A good all-in-one multivitamin - hits RDA's of all the key vitamins, including A, D, E, C, B1, B2, B6, B12, Calcium, Iron, Zinc, and Folic Acid - take one a day. A good high strength probiotic - I've been taking one everyday for around a month now and I actually saw a difference in my skin pretty quickly.Calcium & Magnesium & Zinc - 1000mg Calcium, 400mg Magnesium, 25mg zinc taken daily as 1 tab 3x daily with meals. Magnesium helps to keep hormone levels balanced, keeps the nervous system running smoothly, improves sleep, fights insulin resistance, and is also anti-inflammatory. Calcium is involved in the production of antioxidants that help combat inflammation, aswell as helping with cell renewal. So by taking magnesium with calcium, you have a better chance of improving the absorption and utilisation of this mineral.Omega 3-6-9 - 2000mg of omega 3 as 1000mg of eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and 1000mg of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) taken as 1 tab 3x daily with meals.

Other triggers are exercise and stress. My am routine: I don’t wash, usually just use ice roller f/b a vitamin c serum (DE or SR) f/b some DE Marula Oil, f/b whatever moisturizer I have on hand (today this was lala retro, thanks Sephora 100 pt reward!) Then my makeup.PM: cleanse w Cetaphil gentle bar, apply SR Good Genes, apply DE Marula, apply moisturizer and eye cream (DE Shaba.)

[Sun Care] Travel container recommendations for sunscreen?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hello,I would like to start having my sunscreen more available throughout the day. In other words, I would like to keep a small stash in my car, my home, my small purse, etc. I would prefer not to have to have three different full size sunscreen bottles around (partially because I try to buy the biggest containers to save money and secondly because if they do break in my purse or something I would prefer not to have wasted a whole $50 bottle).I have been looking into air travel tubes but most of them seem to let some percentage of light into the container, which concerns me that my expensive sunscreen will be degrading over time.Does anyone have something they have found to solve this issue? Thanks!

[PSA] the ordinary's marine hyaluronics is on sale today!
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I've been in love with this stuff since I got it and ended up using a bottle of it in two months. Whoops. Anyway, this stuff is hard to work with because it's as thin as water, but it absorbs quick and makes my dehydrated skin feel good. It's $3.40 today, and there's also a hair care serum half off as well.

[skin concern] popped really weird “pimple”, scared of scaring. also need help identifying what it actually was
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I’ve had this large pimple on my face for over a week. It was very deep under the skin and never came to a head. I tried squeezing it a few times but it was hard and stubborn. When I put on acne treatment (salicylic acid) it just got really dry and did not change.fast forward to today after I shower I’m looking in the mirror and the middle of the bump has a small pinhole opening(really weird)I squeeze a bit and light yellowish/red pus came out. I then squeeze it two more time with the edges of cotton buds. after that it’s only blood so I stop.I immediately put a clay mask on it, but now I’ve washed it off and the bump looks very bruised and weird. I did not squeeze hard (I was a very bad picker back in the day so trust me lol).I’m really nervous for scarring and I want it to heal properly. I have scars from previous acne (red/purple in color)skin type: combination, sensitive, dehydrated routine: cetaphil foaming cleanser, cerave am/pm - cetaphil gentle exfoliate cleanser, cetaphil night creamalso I use flawless finish hair remover on my face. I mention this because I originally thought it was an ingrown hair.

[Acne]From getting medicine for a few pimples to full blown acne...Looking for some reassurance!
Beauty Tips For Body Care
So I guess time is important with these meds so to give you an idea, I went into the dermatologist on Oct. 3 regarding some annoying pimples/slight acne. The derma described me as having "lite" acne but she offered a few different options I could take in terms of meds. 1. Topical creams 2. Accutane but that involved getting your blood drawn or something every 2 months and I don't got time for that. and 3. Take some antibiotic.Anyways, I chose the first option and went with the topical creams. I was prescribed Epiduo Forte and Retin-A Micro. She said to take one in the morning and one at night. She mentioned to also use lots of moisturizer and the Epidou Forte can stain clothes.Okay, so I started the next day. In the morning I use Epidou Forte and at night I first wash my face with face-wash, then apply moisturizer, then the Retin-A Micro after the moisturizer has soaked into my skin enough. So I've read that one should evaluate a topical cream after 60-80 days of regular use but I have to say, after only around a month of using this stuff, it does not look any better but worse! I mean, I've read that it brings out the worst in your skin at first as sort of a "purging" process, but man, I know have full blown acne and it doesn't look like its improving. My skin is peely, which I know is to be expected in addition to being red on my cheeks (where my acne treatment is obviously going) but other than that, I know have full blown acne.Maybe I am overreacting and this is normal....but is it? Should I know have full blown acne on my face? Is this normal for day 30 when using these products? I have never had to take any sort of acne creams or have I dealt with this stuff before so this is all new to me.Any advice or stories are appreciated!I guess about me: Im a 27 year old male, high stress (I think its my main contributor to my acne), fit and I run a lot. Thanks for hearing me out!Edit: Not sure why this is being downvoted so much.... I guess I didn't supply the right information?

[Personal] Raise your hand if you have ever felt personally victimised because of your skincare addiction
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hello friends!Ever since I first started using face wash etc. as a teen I have been addicted to skincare. I am now 24, and my collection has expanded significantly as I attempt to remain looking like said teen (joking, that ship has sailed).Like many of you, I have through trials, error and experience assembled a collection of products. They work perfectly for me. I love my skin. It is great. It was not always great. I am now not willing to relinquish a single one. Honestly, they can be pried from my cold, dead, yet extremely smooth, hands. I live in perpetual fear of one of these products being discontinued, and, I confess, sometimes I practice some hoarding-like stocking up behaviour (especially when it comes to TO). I look forward to my morning and evening routines, damn it.This is all well and good, but whenever I find myself in a travelling situation with my friends or family which exposes them to my collection and routine I cop a lot of judgement. "You're a Marketer's dream", "you're a victim of consumerism," "you're spending so much unnecessary money", "you only think you need that many things," "all I do is wipe my face with discount makeup remover pads every five days and my skin is fine," "just buy some apricot scrub when it's on special" etc. etc. etc. I find it very frustrating as I feel I must then defend myself and my beloved products. "My skin cannot deal without them!", "it's my self-care ritual!", "there are many more harmful things to be addicted to! Like meth! Although it probably costs the same!", I'll be the one laughing when we are all 50!" etc. etc. etc.I just wanted to commiserate with fellow addicts, and to ask how you respond to such criticisms of our ~ LiFeSTyLe ~. I feel this is a safe space.

[PSA] I spent $350 on a Blue Light Device from Celluma and it made my acne worse.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
So I purchased a blue light device from this company after watching Nikki DeRoest's video basically saying it was the best treatment for acne PERIOD. These products are extremely expensive and the one that she recommends is $1600. There was no way I was paying that so I got the cheapest one, where the only difference is that it's a smaller surface area but it has the exact same technology and strength. I've been using it almost every day for 6 weeks and my acne has only gotten worse. I contacted the company about it and they made excuses, and they have no refund or satisfaction guaranteed policy. I also tried to go to their website to review the product and their website wouldn't accept my negative review. Don't waste your money with this! I highly regret it and I continue on my quest for acne-free skin.

[acne] I quit all beauty products Oct 1, fed up with a shelf full of products that kept making my skin worse. Hours spent on make up every day. Buying more and more to try and fix me. 4 weeks of handsoap, sunscreen, and a fresh face. We are enough to enter this world just by waking up. #quitbeauty

[PSA] You can buy Differin Gel at Ulta!
Beauty Tips For Body Care
It's online only, but with 20% off coupons you can get a really good deal on it, plus you get Ulta points! It's probably the best retinoid on the market right now that you don't need a prescription for, and I love it, so I was excited to find it. Link here for convenience.

[Personal] [Acne] just a rant.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
What follows is a rant because... well you'll see. Pardon my swearing. It just needed to get out.Jumpin' Jesus on a fucking pogo stick. I give up. Im done trying to get good skin. It feels like no matter what I do, it doesnt fucking work. How is it even fucking possible that I have fucking acne in my mid twenties while my thirteen/fourteen/fifteen/sixteen years old, braces wearing, hormon ridden pupils have clear af skin without even bloody trying? I drink lots of water or tea. I don't do dairy. And I fucking miss my cappucino. I work out. I drink very little. I eat healthy. Very little sugar. They stuff their faces with processed shit almost every day. Energy drinks, fast food, chocolate - you fucking name it. Work out? I cant even get them to bring their gym clothes to fucking sports class and doing a field trip that involves more than a 10 minute walk becomes hell - for me because of all the complaining. They share their make up between them. And yet, they have wonderful skin. I'm so fucking sick of it all. First my face. Then my chest. And now my back. Again. And while the pill helped clear my skin somewhat, it not only turned me into a bitch but it also killed my fucking libido, so no bloody fucking point in using that. And speaking of that, while I can barely look at myself in the fucking mirror without wanting to cry, my very dear SO sprouts things like "why does it bother you? I love you no matter what and still think you are beautiful and sexy". Which is nice to hear. Truly. Doesnt help me to be happy with my skin though, especially not from someone who hasn't had a pimple in the last 10 years. I don't even know. I'm just so over it. URGHHHHHHHHHHH!

[Routine Help] [Skin Concerns] TFW Depression Makes You Neglect Your Skin
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hey guys! Not looking for a full routine, more of a “hack” I guess. So I have depression, and it gets so bad sometimes that I don’t have the energy to get out of bed, much less wash my face. I always take off my makeup with a makeup wipe (currently loving the SKINFOOD Rice Daily Brightening Cleansing Tissue), but apart from that, my skin often gets totally neglected. For years, I used to forgo washing my face when I had to by using the Mario Badescu Seaweed Cleansing Lotion (it’s a toner so it’s super easy to pour some on a cotton round and get it over with), but I just learned it has witch hazel in it so I’m trying to find a replacement. Does anybody have any recommendations for a cheater product/method to cleanse your face when you don’t have the energy for soap and water? I hate the residue left behind by makeup wipes, so I hate just cleansing with those. As for my skin, it’s combination and a bit on the sensitive side. Also, I have mild rosacea that mostly affects the skin around my nose. I live in the Atlanta area, if that helps. Thank you so much!

[Routine Help] I’m a runner, but it’s making me break out! What is a good routine for me so that my hobby doesn’t affect my skin!? 🏃♀️
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi guys,So I run about 3 times a week, and I just did my third half marathon yesterday. Here’s the thing, though-every time I jump into the shower after running, I notice that I have a few new zits on my chest/breasts, and a couple on my back. Plus, my face also gets a weird bumpy texture to it after awhile, especially during the colder months.I also wanted to add: after long runs, where I sweat a lot, I tend to get covered in salt from the sweat. It even gets into my eyes and irritates them. You can even see dried salt settle on my face after awhile. Would the saltiness affect my skin? If so, what can I do to fix it??My current routine is pretty simple. I’ve been using Proactiv for years, since it’s the only skincare that has kept most acne from appearing on my face so far. Also, I use that Body Clear wash from Neutrogena for my body. It has been a bit more effective than other drugstore brand body washes, but I still get acne and red spots. Also, idk if this helps, but I have combination skin, and if I don’t wash my hair every night, I tend to get acne.

[Acne] [Personal] The good side of having Acne!
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Yes we all know how hard living could be when you have multiple of red acne spots on your Face and people continuously point them out. Then you see your friend with a perfect smooth skin eating greasy food 24/7, never moisturizing and doesn't even know the basics of a skin care routine. It Hurts but I'm sure that Acne also has a good side, which I came through because of my experience dealing with acne myself.1) you're a dermatologist to your friends. YES! My friends actually get surprised of how much I know about a certain skin product, I can list down all the products and what they target. I love how they react when I tell them about all the different ingredients like salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide and etc like I'm a lab scientist xD2) Having acne actually got me into following a strict diet and got me abs lol. As they say "you are what you eat". I used to drink huge loads of soda at night which ended up making me feel miserable. After I got acne I still haven't touched a single soda for like 6 months and my diet consist of veggies and fruits now. I didn't even used to know the meaning of gluten free back then (I'm stupid ik) now before going for grocery shopping I actually look at the ingredients before purchasing. Surprises my mom by seeing how dedicated I am lol.3) I made a lot of friends who shared the same acne condition like me. When I see a person suffering acne, I always approach them, let them know how special they are. I made a lot of friends on online forums too just like Reddit. Seeing everyone skin progress makes me feel really happy for them. 4) acne improved my sleep schedule, before I had acne I was all up at night. Didn't consider changing my pillow case and the impact it had on my skin. Now here I am sleeping as early as possible and feeling fresh in the morning. I always sleep on a washed pillow case everyday :)5) having oily skin was also the reason for my continuous break outs but I also got to know that people with oily skin tend to have thicker skin and fewer wrinkles. So rock your shining skin when you get old and let your perfectly good skin friend who mocked you know it at the same time ;)6)I learned the purpose of loving yourself the hard way. Even if you have flaws, you are still beautiful and no one deserves the right to degrade you. No one is perfect, life isn't easy; it gets everyone.7)Acne made me write all of this. I wonder if I never had severe acne or acne at all; I would have never come here, going through all these posts. Improving my diet routines, knowing the right moisturizer and cleanser to use. I would have been completely different. So my point was appreciate your acne, let the world know it's a normal thing and it's not because of poor personal hygiene, it's also about hormones. Spread love and positivity. I never intended to write this but by seeing people go through so much just because of acne really hurts me and my experience has also led me to write this. I hope you all realize inner beauty and self love. ( This was a bit cringy and I'm very sorry about that. English isn't my first language so I might have made a lot of grammatical errors. )

[Misc] Lazy skin care confessions
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I am a lazy piece of shit to my core, so you can imagine my daily struggles when it comes to researching, acquiring, testing, and using all the lovely products that are mentioned here. For my fellow lazies out there, I was just wondering what are some of the laziest things you do/did when it comes to skin care. Here are some of mine:Besides my jar of raw shea butter. I purposefully do NOT buy any product with a bottle dropper or twist off cap. So much extra work, it is just tew much! If I can't get my whole routine on my face in under 5 minutes, it is taking too long.I do not wait for anything to dry at ALL. The product has until I open the next product and pour it onto my hands to dry. Dassit. If I know I am going to be at home all day, I don't even do my morning skin care routine, let alone put on sunscreen. I just brush my teeth.

[PSA] PHYSICAL EXFOLIATION ISN’T THE DEVIL!
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I feel like this needed to be said. There is so much hate on this sub about physical exfoliation. There is no need to bash someone who simply prefers to physically exfoliate their skin over chemically exfoliating it! For me, physically exfoliating makes my skin feel a lot cleaner and like I actually cleansed my pores. This shouldn’t be something I’m not allowed to say on this sub! Now share your unpopular opinion this sub probably hates you for, let it be free!

[Miscellaneous] [Misc] What are everyone's opinions on 'Pollution Protection' products?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I've been seeing a lot of products on the market in recent years about products that help shield against pollutants in cities and combating premature aging from pollution. I know after reading a few posts that people have experienced breakouts after moving to a city, but are environmental aggressors really the trigger? Some products with these claims I have seen are:A new Neutrogena Hydro Boost CITY SHIELD gel mist that hydrates, refreshes, and replenishes dry and pollution-stressed skin.Clarins UV Plus Anti-Pollution Broad Spectrum SPF 50 is a multi-protection sunscreen with broad spectrum SPF 50 and an exclusive Anti-Pollution Complex, which shields skin from harmful UVA/UVB rays, pollution and free radicals. It's the perfect daily defense and also protects skin from signs of premature aging and loss of radiance caused by environmental aggressors.Murad City Skin Detox Overnight Moisturizer with A breakthrough formula with super-charged antioxidants from marrubium plant stem cells to detoxify skin and help visibly reduce lines and wrinkles.Dr. Roebuck's Tassie Anti-Pollution Serum. Don't worry, Dr Roebuck's will protect you. They are bringing the natural oasis of Tasmania to you by including powerful antioxidants to preserve your beautiful skin from the elements.E.l.f. Vitamin C Pollution Prevention Serum; formulated with key antioxidants, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and Pomegranate Extract, to help refine, brighten skin tone, and protect against the effects of everyday environmental aggressors. What are your thoughts on these types of products? I'm really curious!

[Personal] My skincare is helping my teeth!
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Back in the day, I used to fall asleep on the couch at night in a full face of make up. I could always remember to take care of business in the morning, but I just had no nightly routine. As you might imagine, I never remembered to do that second tooth brushing in the evening either. Now that I've really dedicated myself to having a nightly skincare regime, it's totally easy to remember to do other things at night too-- like brush my teeth, take my allergy drops, and put some Latisse on my eyelashes. My good habits are trickling over into other areas of my life. Anyone else noticed this?

[Product Question] What HG body products do you recommend to keep arms, legs, and the rest of your body feeling silky smooth? Do you layer products? Do you prefer oils or watery lotions or thicker lotions?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
When I want to really relax after a long day, I rotate between L’Occitane’s Almond Oil and Almond Milk Lotion. After shaving, I normally use Hado Labo Milk Lotion (I didn’t like it for my face by love it as a body lotion) and then, after it dries, I mist with Avène Thermale and apply the Almond Milk Lotion. On days when I don’t have as much time or I’m lazy, I use Lush’s Karma Kream or Kopari Coconut Melt. I’m not really used to using body oils - am I supposed to be layering any of these or using them alone? Thanks for any suggestions or advice!

[Shelfie] Husband’s shelfie vs. my shelfie — easy to see which is which! + My journey to healthy skin via SCA!
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Greetings, SCA! I’m finally sharing a shelfie!I think I FINALLY have a routine I’m actually happy with after about two years of hit or miss attempts. My skin isn’t completely perfect, but it’s honestly at a point where when I look at it I think like “good enough!” I’ll share a B&A when I have more time, but for now, I thought I’d at least share this.I used to spend SO MUCH money on skincare products, and they didn’t do it. I used Dermalogica and Skinceuticals, and it’s possible they would have done the trick IF I had any idea what I was doing when I had the money to spend on those things. However, now that my budget is leaner, AND I’ve found these super-affordable products that are effective, I can’t really think of a reason to use the more expensive products anyway.Of course my routine will probably continue to evolve, especially if I need to incorporate more anti-aging products as I get older. But for now, this is working pretty well. And for that, I have all of you to thank, as you have been so helpful and informative! Here's my shelfie: https://i.imgur.com/o48hE8V.jpgSkin TypeCombination, sensitive skin with former rosacea & a former tendency to be oil rich/ congestedI came to the sub originally to find answers about why my skin was inconsistent, and initially I accidentally overdid things and harmed the moisture barrier. That left me with texture issues. Then I had to go about repairing that, and learning that just because a product works for someone else doesn't mean it will work for me. (Looking at you, Stridex + PC BHA.)Tools I learned about in this sub:Six-layer organic gauze washcloths (LOVE THESE so much)Silk Mini-Pillowcase (i sleep on a small bolster instead of a normal pillow)Diet FactorsVery little dairy (butter in my coffee each morning + cheese or St. Benoit plain yogurt no more than twice per week)NO nightshades, especially no tomatoesSalt water/ Mineral water dailyCurrent RoutineMorning, upon waking up —Wipe face with Cortas Lebanese rosewater (decanted into the frosted bottle) sprayed cotton padApply Kiss my Face sunscreen on face, neck, and back of handsDrink cup of coffee while waiting 10-15 minutesWalk dogsMorning, if showering (3 or 4 times per week) —Wash face with zinc soap while in shower to remove KMF sunscreen, dry immediatelyWash body with pure, handmade greek olive oil soapWipe face again w/ rosewater after getting out of shower to remove any soap residueMorning, if NOT showering (I only shower every other day because of sensitive Irish skin) —Wipe face with Cortas Rosewater several times to remove all traces of KMF sunscreenMorning, cont.Apply MUAC Lac Luronic (thank you to this sub for introducing me to it!)Apply Paula’s Choice Resist Super Light Wrinkle Defense SPF 30(again thanks!)Thin layer of sheer foundation on cheeksThin layer of SPF and non-SPF powders (I mix several)Other make-up (light or dramatic, depending on the occasion)Evening, before bedWash face with Hado Lobo Gentle Hydrating Cleanser (decanted into silicon squeeze tube) (THANK YOU, SCA!)Wipe away all residue with Cortas RosewaterApply Actives + Moisture, depending on the day:[T] TO Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution +[T] TO Mandelic Acid 10% +[T] TO Natural Moisturizing Factors.[TH] Paula’s Choice Resist Soothing Treatment 5% AHA +[TH] Paula’s Choice Resist Barrier Repair Moisturizer w/ Retinol +[TH] Thin Layer of Vaseline.[MWF] Instead of Actives, apply TO Marine Hyaluronics + a thin layer of TO Borage OilWeekend Treatments:[Sat or Sun] Pure Manuka Honey 16%, leave on for 30 minutes as mask + follow w/ TO Natural Moisturizing Factors — This is literally helping reduce my telangiectasia, which are tiny spider veins on apples of the cheeks common in fair-skinned people who have had rosacea in the past.[Sun Eve] TO AHA 30% + BHA 2 % Peeling Solution (6 mins)[Sun Eve] TO Marine Hyaluronics + a thin layer of TO Borage Oil[Sun Eve] VaselineSo that's about it! Thank you again for the help. I'll link back to this routine when I post my B&A. It's a dramatic difference, though I accept my skin will never be completely perfect. :)

Missha will mail you free samples if you ask nicely via their website's contact form.I asked if they had their BB cream in 21 and 23, and a few days later in the mail received two packets of 21 and 21 each, a 10 mL sample of A'pieu Madecassoside cream, and a packet of A'pieu Madecassoside gel.Are there other companies who do this?

[Acne] Quick question about rosehip oil
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Acne prone/oily. I read a lot about linoleic fatty acids being necessary for skin to repair it's oil barrier and I saw many recommendations on Rosehip Oil.However it seems like it has less percentage of linoleic acid than other oils and I was wondering if I should look for another oil? Also I can't seem to find The Ordinary's Rosehip oil anywhere. Any pure cold pressed rosehip oil like this (not sure if it's okay as it's 99.5%) or this one is fine right? Thanks ahead!

[misc] [diet] Fasting is the only thing that controls my acne. What can I deduce from this so that I don't have to choose between food and clear skin? (Warning: weird)
Beauty Tips For Body Care
So when I began intermittent fasting, I noticed that towards the end of my fasting window my skin would be much less angry and inflamed.Increasing the fasting time increased the results. I have just finished a 4 day fast after a massive breakout of painful cystic acne and the results were better than ever. Two days into my fast, my inflammation and oil production plummeted to the point where I had to use moisturiser rather than blotting papers in the middle of the day.I also noticed a massive difference to hair fall. Usually my hair comes out in literal handfuls throughout the day. I don't have bald patches or noticeable thinning so I just thought it was normal for me.But again, 2 days into my fast I noticed that my hair stopped falling out.By day three, my boyfriend turned to me and said out of the blue: "You look really well" – which is not what you would expect for someone who hasn't eaten for 3 days.Trouble is, I can't keep fasting. I had to stop this one before I crossed the "underweight" BMI threshold. Also, food is life.I'm now attempting keto to see if the effect is the same, but it's extremely restrictive as I'm also vegan, and I don't want to live like this. I'd rather find the underlying mechanism and treat that as this is obviously not normal (and carbs are life too).I know this is kind of weird and kind of a long shot, but does anyone have any insights into what might be going on?Edit: I should add that this only really began 2 years ago. Before that I could eat anything I wanted and had perfect skin.
